The Confederacy of Schrijvera welcomes all newcomers!

Formed from a coalition of former slaves originally hailing from the Netherlands, Japan and Australia, transported to work for uranium on seven bountiful islands 500 kilometres off the coast of Tasmania by the corrupt Slavemasters, the Confederacy of Schrijvera is just starting a new life as an independent nation, after the dramatic defeat and bringing to justice of the Slavemasters by our very own Prince Talos Bjarkasson of Iceland.

It is the desire of the Sultanate of Vastiva to open and maintain strong diplomatic and economic relations with all nations desirous of such. We therefore offer an exchange of embassies and ambassadors, and a beginning of free trade between our nations.

Prince Talos Bjarkasson has addressed the press of Schrijvera today, indicating his government's intentions:

In the government press release, these were the main points they presented:

- The development the infrastructure and economy of Schrijvera

Most of Schrijvera's roads are unpaved, and the country is largely in ruins. Prince Talos has addressed the press from the Government building that "If a nation is to survive, it must have infrastructure!" Massive government spending is hopefully going to support infrastructure to rebuild the country. A lucrative contract of US$500,000,000 is being offered to corporations to build the shattered country.

- The planning of military industry, to secure Schrijvera's freedom from outsiders

At the moment, Schrijvera's citizenry are serving under compulsory military service, meaning that every Schrijveran has to serve in the military. At the moment, the 'military' consists of a few armed militia with a mix of South African Vector CR-21 assault rifles and the infamous RPG-7 anti-tank rocket-propelled grenade, a handful of technicals and a captured Leclerc tank. Each man is equipped with a factory-made sabre in addition to his rifle, for ceremonial duties and for close combat.

- The creation of a capital city, Nova Reykjavik

Most of Schrijvera, at the moment, is made up of shanty-towns, sheds and huts. However, Prince Talos is hoping to build a capital, Nova Reykjavik, on the largest island in the Schrijveran island chain. There are no major cities on Schrijvera yet, and most of the Schrijveran Government is being commanded from an aground Japanese aircraft carrier dating back to the Second World War. "This state of affairs cannot continue!" Prince Talos proclaimed.

- The mining and export of uranium, to supplement income

During slavery times, the Schrijverans were forced to mine uranium. Unfortunately, it is believed that Schrijvera will rely on uranium for many years to come. "At least our uranium is ours to deal with as we decide to," Prince Talos proclaimed. There is a small budget for protective suits.

- The bringing of investment into the country

Schrijvera is a pristine environment with a microclimate similar to the pleasant Mediterranean. It is believed that the tourist industry will bring thousands of dollars into the country.

- Greater education of both slave-descendant Schrijverans and the indigeneous Schrijverans

The educational textbooks imported into the country, by some bureaucratic bungling, are all in Dutch. This will mean that the newer generations will probably be Dutch-speakers, so in his foresight, Dutch has been passed as the official language. Most Schrijveran citizens, whom are Anglophones and Japanese speakers, are somewhat confused when they see their children speak in Dutch to each other, but Prince Talos has dismissed comments that it would tip policies in favour of Dutch-speakers. "That is like saying that if a dog eats fish it is turned into a cat. It stays a dog!"

- Funding on greater spiritual development

Prince Talos addressed the press today: "The development of spirituality is a cornerstone of our nation. It is the shining light by which the slaves defeated their overlords and brought freedom to all Schrijverans. I can see a bright future for all of Schrijvera if we all work as one!"

My region diplores such acts upon people who should be free to do as they wish and will often fight for that right.

Vastiva finds itself with an extreme surplus of building materials. As we are entering our "sundown" period, we would be very interested in your contract.

We will gladly begin laying down and paving modern roads at the cost of $1850 per kilometer, for the entire contract of $500,000,000 that would give you approximately 271,000 km of road, new, and guaranteed to remain for at least a period of five years.

Cost does not include room and board for our workers, which is at your additional expense. We will handle our own transportation costs, and onsite machinery.

In the interest of promoting our contract offer, Vastiva is shipping to your nationa consignment of ten T-80UM1 "Snow Leopard" tanks and thirty Polar Bear light armored vehicles (much like the ubiquitous humvees, but ours carry up to a ton of weight). We have outfitted the latter in three sets - unarmed, mounting TOW-3 launchers, and mounting 14.7mm machine guns. Additional rounds, spare parts, and the like are included in the shipment.

We trust this will aid your national defense.
