The heat. That was the first thing Ming noticed when he alight from the Airbus that had carried them from Xiaguo. Sweltering heat, like Taiwan in the monsoon season. This was Brasilia, a city in their eyes remarkably similar to cities in SE Asia. Having a few million dollars in the Bank of Brazil, money was of no immediate problem. Still reeling from Lao's death/capture, Ming and Yao had not conversed on the journey here at all, but they knew what they needed to do. With most of their powerful allies back in China, and the two of them having a tenuous grasp on Portugese (although it was improving by the day), they decided to head to the heart of any foreign city - Chinatown.
On arrival, the first stop was a Chinese restaurant. At least here they could speak their language. The two of them ate a well earned meal, finally having a sense of rest after a chaotic three weeks.
"So what actually happened to Lao? Tell me everything."
Ming sighed as he takes his arm out of the cast. It was feeling much better already.
"From what I heard the guards say, it seemed like he had stolen small arms from the refugee camp armoury. It seemed like he put up a fight."
Ming swore.
"I think they shot him on the spot....Anyway, where's the office of that biotech firm you said could be 'bent'?"
"ChromoGen? We'll find it."
