Ticonderoga System
Capital of the Ticonderogan Concordat
The Ticonderoga System was a very inhospitable system devoid of any form of sentient life. It seem that all odds were against anyone ever colonizing the system even though it held an abundance of raw materials, which was something rather unique in this region of barren space previously only inhabited by something alien, the Vakutu. It was for that reason the now dead WIckian Commonwealth establish a fleet base in the system to keep an eye on their neighbors. The Wickians and the Vakutu always distrusting of one another and skirmishes were often a pretty regular thing. It was ironic because the Wickians were the closest thing to aliens the Raumreich had, and the Vaku were the aliens of the Raumreich making both targets for the xenophobic Ortagan’s. There fights over the years seemed to not make any sort of sense or reason, perhaps the Valinor were right when they joked that there had to be something weird in the radiation emitted from the stars of the southern march because its inhabitants were just plain eccentric and often foolish in their actions.
The tensions between the two nations erupted into full scale war in the Great War, when the commonwealth made its attempt shatter the defenders of Cronos, the bloody affair was beaten back leaving both sides to leave the other to their own affairs for the next few decades, to date an uneasy truce was in effect.
During the dark times that followed the fall of Thetis the shattered remnants of the Commonwealth fell back to their last bastion, the old fleet base at TIconderoga and the proprietors of vast mining and refinery complexes. In those dark days the survivors worked hard to rebuild and no one could ever doubt a WIckian’s ability to survive when he should have died long ago. The Vernii Imperium was vital in the rebuilding process it was not completely an altruistic effort, it was just as much for their own economic gains as it was for rebuilding the TIcondergan economy. The Imperium’s Orbitals Corporation, Gregor Corporation, Kiel Industrial Group all played a vital role in establishing what now was the TIconderoga System.
A massive effort that would not have been possible without Verniian injections to the Ticonderoga economy transformed the former merchant guild colony into a bustling capital of a small republic, that replaced the former commonwealth. It was perhaps even more ironic that all this rebuilding was made possible by the Concordat’s close proximity to the Vakutu, whom the Ortagans dared not attack at this point for fear of Valinor reprisal. It was not always so in the past and some theorized that the war the Ortagans raged to subdue the WIckian Commonwealth saved the Vakutu from a similar fate.
And so what once was a barren system only inhabited by a few thousand miners and merchants was now capital of the former WIckian Commonwealth.
