The Cylon Trilogy Part I - The Lurking Danger [Future Tech Semi-Closed RP]

Cylon Armies
02-04-2005, 23:41
[OOC: First off, this is a semi-closed RP between Cylon Armies (a nation of Nanakaland's) and Mirfak. If you wish to join, you'd have to be approved by both sides. Secondly, all binary used in this RP for transmissions is used for effect and is translated before or after the actual binary message. If you do not trust me, use a binary decoder (http://nickciske.com/tools/binary.php). Cylon raiders are a type of Cylon ship, by the way.]

Prologue
A lone Cylon raider left jump and entered the target system. Throughout the Milky Way galaxy, single raiders scanned the star systems and then jumped before they could be targeted or seen as a threat. Thousands, if not millions, of possible targets were scanned throughout the galaxy. No weapons were fired even if fired at. These mysterious raiders were not there for war but for gathering information.

Most of the raiders returned to the base stars but five Cylon raiders went to revisit five promising systems for further scans. One of them was in the Mirfakian system. The raider scanned Mirfak IV.

"All requirements met. Perfect match. Sending transmission of location. Request backup for further scans." was the beginning of its transmission back to the basestars. But the message was in binary and thus would have actually looked like this:

0100000101101100011011000010000001110010011001010111000101110101011010010111001001100101011011010110 0101011011100111010001110011001000000110110101100101011101000010111000100000010100000110010101110010 0110011001100101011000110111010000100000011011010110000101110100011000110110100000101110001000000101 0011011001010110111001100100011010010110111001100111001000000111010001110010011000010110111001110011 0110110101101001011100110111001101101001011011110110111000100000011011110110011000100000011011000110 1111011000110110000101110100011010010110111101101110001011100010000001010010011001010111000101110101 0110010101110011011101000010000001100010011000010110001101101011011101010111000000100000011001100110 1111011100100010000001100110011101010111001001110100011010000110010101110010001000000111001101100011 01100001011011100111001100101110
The string of data went on for thousands of more lines describing the conditions it met and how many more reinforcements were needed, but that would simply take up too much room listing it and then translating it. Only the beginning of the message was needed to understand the situation by an outside observer as soon two dozen Cylon raiders appeared scanning the system. Soon, the Mirfakians found out about the presence of the raiders and the Cylon raiders were either chased off or destroyed. However, the Cylons got the information they needed. Soon, it would begin.

The Cylon Trilogy Part I
The Lurking Danger

Twenty-five basestars, carrying roughly two thousand Cylons each, drifted slowly through space. Soon five raiders returned from the Mirfakian system carrying valuable information. After that, more raiders returned. Of the five systems that looked promising for a new Cylon home only two turned out to be perfect matchs after extensive tests and scouting - and Mirfak was one of them.

The Cylons were robots so within five milliseconds they managed to calculate which one they could take with minimal losses and they reasoned that that would be Mirfak. Two basestars jumped to an area just outside of the Mirfakian system to prepare for an initial assault on the enemy system to occupy it. They would not attack first, however. A hundred humano-cylon (a Cylon that look like a human) agents were first readied to sneak into Mirfak various ways as Cylon raiders readied to strike. Being robots, the Cylons were patient. They could wait months or even years before attacking their targets.

In the wake of the encounter with the Cylon scouts Mirfak's military is put on alert, but after weeks pass without further incident the elevated alert is dropped. Mirfak, a nation of heavy commerce despite recent socialization, does not pause at the entry of any of the humano-cylons, accepting them as residents and citizens after standard documentation processes.

Mirfak IV, the outer planet scanned by the Cylon's scouts, is a resource world, or at least it used to be. It has been mined for hundreds of years, and is reaching its end of usefulness as Mirfakan resource hunting moves to other star systems. The Mirfak System is an average, four-planet home system, with two resource planets, Mirfak II and IV, both reaching the end of their tenure. Mirfak I is a small, molten planet in close proximity to the sun. Only Mirfak III is habitable, home to the vast majority of the nation's 621 million residents.

Mirfak III, originally a desert world, is a testament to the lost power of Xanthal, terraformed into a lush, temperate world with climates that for the most part only hint at its former status. This world has a long history behind it, and has seen use as an exile planet and outworld under Xanthalian rule, an extended feudal period, planetary dictatorship, invasion and domination, and, most recently, a flourishing socialist republic. Business and culture flourish across Mirfak III, and thousands of facilities in space create an aura extending into the system and outward to the sord, that gateway to planespace Mirfak uses as its way of travelling faster than light.

Life continues as always on Mirfak, with no hint of the ominous days ahead in the air as millions of people go about their daily business. No one suspects the bad moon rising as the sun sets over the capital city's horizon. No one predicts the long night ahead. As the lights of the city blink on, they stand as a symbolic beacon. The night ahead will be a sleepless one for most. For some, it will bring the deepest sleep of all.

OOC: Tag. Amazingly enough, nobody's done a proper BSG RP in nationstates, which is exceptionally surprising. Either way and I'm off topic... I think you two write good and I look forward to reading the rest!

OOC: Pretty snazzy. Even though it's to be expected with Nanakaland at the helm. So I guess this is a tag for interesting writing and premise. Keep up the good work you two.

A tag, good stuff so far, and yeah, as with what Adejaani said, BSG stuff is surprisingly rare in NS.

OOC Mind if I join in? My nation is Cylon, although the Humo-Cylons have made up most of the population, and only the Police and armies include the battle driods. If not this is a Tag

Tag for now, too busy to really post substantial things. I'm going to do some posts on how Tiburon accepted Mirfak as the remnant of the USSX and the Tiburon-Xanthal alliance, but I don't see major involvement until Chapter 2.
