NationStates Champions' League 6/NSFA Cup 1 - Take Two

Cockbill Street
31-03-2005, 11:05
After the ceasure of NationStates Champions' League Six following the evil disease called RL, and the recent revival of thought-dead domestic leagues in Starblaydia, Druida and Cockbill Street, it is thought that another go at international club competitions in European football might finally prove successful.

The workings:

Unlike the real Champions' League, this one will not have a direct knock-out qualifying round in the beginning. Everyone will be given a group, even though this will mean that some groups will have more teams than others. This is to encourage RPing in the early rounds, because RP bonus will have a large effect. After the group stage, there will be direct knock-out rounds. This applies for both the Champions' League and NSFA Cup.

Rankings: The KPB world rankings for national teams will be used, as it is thought that the strength of a national team reflects the strength of the league. However, the influence of rank will be quite small. The results from NSCL5 will not be used, as this is quite a way back and things may have changed since then.

Sign-up: To sign up, you fill out the following form. Each nation can enlist two clubs for both the Champions' League and NSFA Cup.

1st Club (to Champions' League):
2nd Club (to Champions' League):
3rd Club (to NSFA Cup):
4th Club (to NSFA Cup):

You also need to state the relative strength of each club in the form - adding up to 100 %. Also, a club entering the NSFA Cup may not be stronger than the strongest club entering the Champions' League. If these restrictions aren't met, the sign-up percentages will be adjusted until they do. An example for Cockbill Street might be:

1st Club (to CL): Jotneheim Mountains AFC (35 %)
2nd Club (to CL): Roegrow Athletic (15 %)
3rd Club (to NSFA): Likh'gokh K'druz'ba (25 %)
4th Club (to NSFA): Harewood FC (25 %)

The percentages inside the bracket indicate how good you want the team to be in comparison to the other teams. In order to ensure that no one makes one complete über-team, only 40 % of the ranking points are distributed in this way.

There will be a ranking system developed, similar to the KPB rankings for nations.

Also, a host (where the final will be played, and also responsible for generating results) for the Champions' League is needed. Liverpool England has already applied, but this depends on whether the Liverpudlians are chosen to host World Cup 22.

We only have one team remaining after the break-up of the LFL, of which we are currently looking for a league for. However, may we be able to use this team [Midland Dragons] in the champions league? It is composed of all our top non-national team players, and is a very young group.

Audioslavia will be sending the two teams who finished first and second in the league to the champions league, and would ideally send the third placed team and the Audioslavian Football Association Cup winners to the NSFA cup, but seeing as the league runners up won the cup, the beaten finalists Cornellby (finished 6th in the league), will take their place.

1st Club (AFLD1 Champions, to CL): Raiders F.C. (39 %)
2nd Club (AFLD1 Runners-up, to CL): Machinegrad F.C. (38 %)

Group draw tonight, first matchday tomorrow sounds okay to you? We've got 40 teams for the Champions' League now - sounds like a good number, gives eight groups of five.

Um - just a hint. Because not everyone seems to be active and invent team names, it's normally done in the RP thread instead of actually sending it to the host. It's not needed while scorinating - the list of teams participating is all we need, and that's on the first page.

And with soccer RPs there's four kinds!

Take what you get, and don't ask to be swapped with a team that you know won't RP therefore improving your chances of victory!
