Secret Document Reveals Small Nation's Big Dreams

Richmound, Virginny, The Confederate States of Inbreedia - A secret document leaked out of the Inbreedia assembly has shown some rather large plans for a small nation, such as a satellite launching artillery cannon and aerial fleet, some which question the motives of their current regime.

Inbreedia, a small, pro business driven nation of only 18 million people, already has big plans ahead of them in the coming decades. However, critics of the Inbreedia state argue that some of these aspirations will lead the country to severe debt if taken too soon.

"We are in need of serious social reforms, not projects that could harm others and bring ruin to our country!" Argued opposition leader Cletus J. Jackson before his subsequent arrest outside his home on bootlegging charges.

What shocks the international media is the grandious nature of these projects.

The first is the "Souther Star" prouject, or in other words, the future aquisition of a Soviet era Buran class space shuttle and Energia rocket booster system. If Inbreedia cannot find a working Buran and Energia combination, the Inbreedia Space Services Authority (ISSA) plan to aquire plans to make their own Buran and Energia from scratch. It is reported to be safer than the American space shuttle, while boasting superior lift capabilities. This would catapult Inbreedia to new heights and revitalize their fledgeling aerospace industry.

The second project is another resurrection of an older project. Dubbed "Project Arrow", Inbreedia proposes to bring back and even modernize the Avro Arrow. Originally created in Canada during the 1950's, the Avro Arrow is reputed to have superior performance than even today's fastest fighter jets. It has been only recently that such aircraft as the F-22 and the Eurofighter Typhoon has surpassed the Avro Arrow's rumoured records. Inbreedia's Wingspan Aerospace Industries argue that plans for the Arrow are 'somewhere' and that the design can be modernized to bring Inbreedia a formidable air defense.

The third project, and unbelievably the second most controversial, is the aquisition of a 'John Bull' cannon, or "Project Big Guns". Invented by a Canadian scientist and partially completed in Iraq before Operation Desert Storm, the Bull Cannon is a proposed satellite launching system. The utilization of an artillery cannon to launch satellites is rumoured to be much cheaper than by shuttle or rocket launch. It is also a controversial subject because this system can also be modified to launch nuclear bomb shells.

The fourth and most radical project of all is research and development into a fully sustainable aerial fleet, called "Project Southern Wings". The Inbreedia navy proposes replacing their waterbound fleet with a new generation of aerial zeppelins, replacing the role of the aircraft carrier, destroyer, frigate, even supply ships with floating fortresses that could withstand even multiple railgun attacks, fly into enemy airspace, land an entire regiment of armed troops into any location they wish, all while sustaining itself like a modern navy battlefleet. Such a project seems absurd and years ahead of its time, yet the Inbreedia government is giving Project Southern Wings some serious thought.

It is unknown whether or not any of these projects will be pursued, and the Inbreedian president could not be reached for comment. However, if such projects were to go ahead, it could mean that one small nation is determined to step out of the shadows of many other giants.

Keteru Mainichi slammed the latest issue of the Orochi Times down on the conference table, which was carved opulently in mahogany and bronze. The other members of Flying Weasel Enterprizes sat quietly in their chairs at this gesture.

"I'm telling you - this should be perfect for us!" Mainichi proclaimed, refering to the recent article he had read. A one page blurb in Serpent Country's leading news magazine, the article was devoted to alleged secret projects begun by Inbreedia, a small nation that no one in the Feathered Commonwealth of Serpent Country had heard of until now.

"Take a look at it! We are the second largest producer of large rigid and semi-rigid dirigibles in Serpent Country. Demand for airships is down. But what better way to satisfy our quota then to contact this 'Inbreedia'" Mainichi pronounced the foreign word with a thick accent, not fully grasping its translation "and ask to contract this 'Southern Wings' project?"

"You can't be serious!" Seventeen Wind objected. The Chief Financial Officer of Flying Weasel Enterprizes, she was a smallish woman with bronze skin, orange dyed hair, and several earrings. Like the rest of the board, she wore a multicolored robe with a violet sash, bearing the logo of Flying Weasel Enterprizes. "We don't who these people are! How do you know these 'Inbreedi-ites' will even deal with us? Or that they'll maintain this project. You can't stake the financial future of this corporation on an unknown quantity."

"Bah!" Keteru Mainichi coughed. "Their government is supposed to be very pro-business. They should fulfill their deals. And if they don't - we'll still get payment. As for financial future - right now we're losing badly to our rivals. This contract could save this corporation!"

"I too must object strongly to this - on ethical grounds." two palms landed on a table; the voice was that of Sable Fox, Flying Weasel Enterprizes' chief of Engineering. True to her name, her hair was black as midnight - rare for Serpentians. "As Seventeen Wind pointed out, we know nothing about this nation, and you're about to propose that we start selling them military gear! That simply cannot be done. We don't know who they're planning on using these 'projects' on; they could be plotting world conquest for all we know. And Serpentian Law expressely forbids the sale of weaponry to nations not authorized by Parliament."

"We're not selling them weaponry." the Legal Representative replied. "We're simply selling them airships - a perfectly legal transaction. Besides, the general public probably isn't going to get wind of something like this too easily... I doubt popular opinion will strongly turn against us..."

"I think this is a great idea! You may have saved this company!" the chief of Marketing replied. All but three board members echoed in applause, the company president glowing in reply. Sable Fox now had her head lying on the table.

"So... let's send them a request to meet..." Mainichi began.
