South Osettia
27-03-2005, 13:22
Okay, it looks like Tennis has taken a bit of a backseat lately, so to try and encourgae some further interest (and perhaps the return to NSTA Tennis), I've come up with...The Mavis Cup!
Countries enter their tennis players, as usual, but instead of going for individual glory, they have to work as a team to get the trophy for their country. Two countries will be drawn together, and then each male player will play every male player from the other country, and the same for the women. Then whichever country has won the most matches proceeds to the next round. For example:
South Osettia vs. Cockbill Street
Gradi Jarenko bt. Harald Beerquaffer
Gradi Jarenko bt. Callum McGrath
Gradi Jarenko bt. Peter Biddle
Harald Beerquaffer bt. Requso Makinov
Callum McGrath bt. Requso Makinov
Requso Makinov bt. Peter Biddle
Sara Zettergren bt. Olga Waqasie
Olga Waqasie bt. Irene Hammar
Olga Waqasie bt. Christine Williams
South Osettia wins 6-3.
It's kind of like the Davis Cup, but...well, not. So, anybody interested? If so, sign up here.
Note, this will NOT affect the NSTA Rankings, and is not affiliated with NSTA in any way, shape or form, apart from using the rankings.
