ASI Illium, Tau Ceti System, Associated Systems of Klonor

The command center of the Illium was a bustle of energy that verged on panic, low ranking officers rushed back and forth across the deck as senior officers stood around and barked orders. Dozens of programs were running on every computer monitor and the distant chattering of many A.I.'s could be heard. Everybody was busy checking all the core systems and making sure everything was ship-shape. The newest Arcadia class Installation manufactured by Klonor, it was to be the core of the new base for the Klonor Space Corps in the Tau Ceti stellar system and it had to be perfect by the time it was finally brought on-line.

The doors to the bridge opened and, walking slowly in the half-gravity that was standard on any ship in a diagnostic sequence, the Captain approached the on-duty commanding officer.

"Well, Lieutenant, what do you think?"

"I think the entire ventilation system needs to be flushed and the lighting is flickering on every level below the fighter bays. Other than that she's a beauty. Finest ship I've been on in nearly a decade."

"There's a good reason for that John, it's not a ship. It's a space station. Say it with me: S-P-A-C-E S-T-A-T-I-O-N. Okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. When do we go operational?"

"Just a little less than an hour. The computer diagnostic will finish in about twenty minutes, then we'll just need to finish the physical inspection. Nothing past the routine."

"Excellent, sir. Shall I go down to Engineering and oversee?"

"Good idea, I think it's time I sat in the big chair. Go to it."

"Yes, sir. See you in a few."

John quickly entered the elevator at the rear of the bridge and disappeared while the Captain approached the Command Chair.

"Ensign, as soon as we're finished with the inspection I want you to bring the station up to full power. Let's get this base ready for anything."

"Yes, sir."

"And let's hope 'anything' happens soon, I really need something to kill."

ASJ Constantine, Planetary Orbit, Tau Ceti System, Associated Systems of Klonor

Captain Gabriel Dorn sat on the bridge of the Constantine with a grim expression on his face, obviously unhappy with something.

I can't believe this, I really can't. This is the second most powerful ship in the entire Corps, it has the best crew this side of the Colossus, the technology we have on board is only matched by the New Dawn 03, and I'm one of the best damn Captains in the Fleet! But where do we end up? Babysitting a bunch of corvettes and cruisers while they set up a new base. Come on, a freaking Achilles or Iroquois could do this perfectly! Besides, do they actually expect something to happen? What kind of idiot would even think of attacking a Klonor military base, even if it is still being constructed? Seriously, there's a better chance of Salm rising from the dead.....okay, maybe not the best example, but there's still no chance of anything serious happening. It's been tried in the past and the rest of the Universe has learned its lesson. Jesus, I bet the Ergometric stations in Deneb see more action than we will out here. Oh, well. If we're going to do a job we might as well do it properly.

"Commander Michaels?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Begin another sensor sweep of the surrounding area. Standard sensors and the Ergometers. After that give the Massometers a burst. Let's just make sure that nothing's out there."

"Yes, sir. Scanning now......I have something!"

A grin broke the Captains face as he leaned forward, glee visibly rolling off him.

"Yes?"

"Wait......it's just another Guanyu derelict. It's been dead in space for years."

Like a small boy who didn't get the present he wanted for Saturnalia the Captains face dropped like a stone.

"Oh. Have navigation mark it, its course, and then send the details to the Illium. They should know it's there."

"Yes, sir. Message sent."

"Good. Continue scanning, I'll be in my cabin. If anything occurs send for me."

"Yes, sir."

Leaving the center of the bridge the Captain approached the wall, pushed several buttons inlaid against the door frame, and then hopped halfway across the ship to his quarters.

"That's it, I need something to kill."

In space the Constantine continued to orbit the planet.

OOC: Okay, this is pretty straightforward. We have here the ASJ Constantine, one of the best damn ships in my entire Fleet, and it has yet to be used in even one single RP. Not one. It's a waste, a low down dirty shame. So, I finally decided to rectify it. This is a small combat RP designed to give the Constantine the right to be known as a combat ship.

What I'd like is for some small fleet, preferably composed of numerous cruisers and corvettes rather than a few large ships, to pop in and make an effort to do something to the base. Attack it, scan it, rob it, whatever. The Constantine, doing its job, attacks you, and we have ourselves a joyful little battle.

If you'd like to be the one attacking (Or scanning, or robbing, etc.) me please send me a TG and I'll see if you fit the criteria.

Okay, there really is no criteria, I just like when people TG rather than post here because it keeps this thread free from the various discussions we're going to have about the RP.

In the center of the Tau Ceti system, pretty much right next to the sun, a small gravitational disturbance appears briefly. If you were an astronomer, you might raise an eyebrow, but a gravitational disturbance this small, this close to the sun, would be neglected by most... anything. Unbeknownst to anyone else, 4 ships appear at the site of the anomoly, if only briefly, then dissappear. The ships include 3 of the new Capsule Corporation market-grade Kryptonite Mk. V heavy combat battleships, and 1 Evan-class cloaker.

----------------------------------------------

Kryptonite Mk V [Heavy Combat Variant]

Powerplant: Chlorophusion control chamber
Propulsion: Primary heatpile Engines, RCS Ion Engines, Anti-Gravity Engines.
FTL Drives: Capsule Mk II Cascading Hyperspace Fold Drive (also works as Hyperdrive OR fold drive)
Docking Capabilities: 144 Fighters, 72 Mecha, 36 Gunships, 2 Corvettes, 2 Frigates.[/
Weapons: 2 Heavy Turret-Mounted Double-Barrelled Electromagnetic/Energy Cannons, 12 Mk IV Heavy Rail Cannons (200kg*100 km/s) (10 forward, 2 aftward), 76 Turret-Mounted Farad Beam Cannons, 6 Heavy Farad Beam Cannons (Forward firing), 5 Forward Torpedo Tubes, 2 Aft Torpedo Tubes,

Defenses: A very thick Liquidmetal^2 armor, a Xanthal Type VII Shield, 18 defensive Auto-track missile-swarm deployment pods, and some hundred close-defense plasma-bolt cannon turrets.
Environment Capabilities:
Atmosphere: Yes

Evan-Class Cloaker Frigate
http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/cloakership.jpg
http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/cloakgrid.jpg
http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/cloaker.gif

This is a rather simple 275m frigate. It sends everything inside it's (adjustable) grid out of phase, and thus renders them cloaked. It has moderate shields and armor, and accomodations for a skilled engineering crew to make sure nothing screws up (if you've seen the star trek episodes with phase cloaks, you'll know exactly why you don't want any screw ups :))

----------------------------------

The three battleships, the Battleaxe, Phoenix, and Vancouver, scan the system quickly while out of phase, leaving as little realspace signature as possible.

The commander of the Phoenix communicates via laser to the other ships, and they discuss their attack plan... The constantine was a threat to their mercenary group's plans. With the Klonor flagship out of their way, they would be free to move in and begin to claim control of the Tau Ceti system.

"Huh...what the hell?"

The Ergometer screen had suddenly lit up, reading Hyper-atomics on a rather large scale. The sensors didn't read anything there, so either the Ergometers were malfunctioning or.....

"Captain! This is Ensign Robin Leo, I think we are detecting a cloaked vessel. I'm reading Hyper-atomics across several kilometers. Ir's near the systems interior."

"Damnit, I'll be right there."

Even with his anger at being given such a low-level assignment the Captain didn't really want a fight, he didn't enjoy wasting the lives of his men. But he had a job to do, and he stepped through the Phase Gate to the Bridge.

"Bring the ship up the Tactical Alert Alpha. Bring the targeting computers on-line and ready the ship for combat. Send a message to the Illium, instruct them that we have unwelcome visitors in the system Once that's done get us moving towards the disturbance, let's see if we can get this all sorted out."

Slowly, the massive ship broke orbit and began to move towards the invading vessels.

The 3 battleships quickly began the final stages of charging their weapons, having already prepared for a fight before entering hyperspace. Leaving the cloakship behind, they simultaneously fold a mere 15 kilometers off the aft of the Constantine, and before they even hail the mobile space station, they each unleash a spread of 3 high-speed 20-megaton chloro warhead torpedoes, 9 total, the very second they defold into realspace. While the torpedoes are enroute, all of maybe 5 seconds, the Phoenix opens a channel. "Hello Constantine, this is the Gid Axis, and we are here to rape your pathetic hulk. Bend over." The transmission cuts and they immediately fire salvos from all of their rail cannons simultaneously, aimed towards the engines... despite the shields.

"Shit! Re-orient us, now!"

Before the massive Juggernaught even has a chance to begin to turn around the warheads impact along the rear, explosions rippling out along the shields and enveloping the end of the vessel.

"Bring all weapons to bear on the closest target, keep us moving! Give 'em a broadside the second we can!"

As he spoke the rail cannons impacted, puncturing the weakened shields and impacting along the hull. A crunch was audible through the entire ship as several sections of the armor shattered under the impact.

"Fire! Now, damnit!"

Now oriented at a ninety degree angle to the attacking vessels they targeted the foremost and unleashed a barrage. Seven Heavy Beams Cannons and thirty Advanced Laser Turrets clawed through space. A second after the energy onslaught came a flurry of miniscule torpedoes, 480 Hornets bursting forth from the missile tubes.

Just after firing their volley of rail cannons, the 3 ships break away from each other and swarm around the constantine, moving with extreme and unpredictable agility. The constantine's lasers plow into the shields while the heavy beam cannons simply just can't track, and those that do impact right into the shields, weakening them very fast. The missiles however, as trademark against Capsule Corporation ships, hardly touch the ships, with their immense anti-missile systems, maybe 2% manage to reach the ray shields. The 3 Gid ships hold close to the constantine, and on their first maneuver practically skim the shields, upside down, bearing the brunt of their turreted beam cannons towards the constantine. in formation, the three quickly pull away, fire their aft rail cannons, along with 2 more torpedoes each, then come around and unleash hell, firing all rail cannons and Heavy beam cannons in sequence, all within a matter of seconds. Of course, this is not done without taking very heavy fire. Shields are shifted manually so that the strongest parts are facing the constantine constantly during their synchronized maneuver, but while unleashing their own firepower, they take on a good deal of the klonor ship's. The Vancouver's Forward shields suddenly collapse and it has to break off its frontal assault maneuever a little sooner than her more able friends.

"Stop the engines, pump up the shields! Shift power to the forward Grazers and target the retreating ship!"

With the Point-Defence Systems now operational the Laser Clusters tracked and destroyed all but one of the incoming warheads. Without the nuclear backup the rail cannons simply glanced off the now increased shields, the Heavy Farad Cannons soon following suit.

"Send that ship to hell."

The four forward Grazers, along with sixty Advanced laser Turrets, stabbed out at the Vancouver's unshielded hull.

"keep pumelling it!"

The 3 ships pull the inverse of what they just performed, coming in close to the constantine, flying upside down and firing all dorsal weaponry against the shields while rolling side to side. noting that ship has stopped moving, they quickly form towards the rear. On the way, the Vancouver takes a serious hit, and one of the beam cannons, hitting on a sore wound from a previous shot, pierces clean through the port hull, drilling a hole top to bottom, right through a vital Mecha bay. The three ships reach the back end of the ship, and hug in close, firing all their energy and kinetic weapons full blast towards the rear. After a few seconds of random firing, they quickly pick a point on the port side of the constantine, just to the left of the command area. The point happened to covered by a large beam cannon turret. The 3 ships flew up and apart, flying erratically side to side and rolling around, while concentrating nearly 95% of their fire on one point, hoping to collapse the shields and blow the turret away, creating a weakened opening in the hull that their injured companion, the Vancouver, would be able to crash in through and invade the ship with its mecha, or worse.

"Sir, shields are failing!"

"Just keep pumping in the engine energy, they'll hold. bring the backup MiniStar II on-line, that should buy us a few more minutes."

"MiniStarII on-line, sir, and pouring energy directly into the shields. They're starting to concentrate their fire over the Number 3 Beam Cannon, sir. Theyll break through in no more than a minute."

"No problem. I want a target lock on all three ships for the Heavy Beams with a five second prediction of their movements, I want to know where they're likely move once we start firing. The second before they break through the barriers drop the shields, put all power to the engines, and take us into Sub-Space. Get us the hell out of here and leave them to rot."

"Yes, sir."

A bare few seconds later there was a flash of blue and a ripple a space, a Sub-Space Node appeared and enveloped the Constantine. Three seconds later it appeared several hundred thousand kilometers away and began to fire with its seven Heavy Beam Cannons.

G'urz-Captain stared blankly at the console that was fitted awkwardly onto his chair as the pirate fleet Augustus travelled through hyperspace. He was reading over the combat victory records of several ships that had just recently join his small fleet of now 12. Although not a single ship was above the size of a small cruiser many of them were modified heavily, most of them having large rail drivers attached hap-hazardly and large tungsten eggs 15 meters in length and 10 across. The tungsten egg was a very unique weapon in there own right. They containing no engines, warheads, or guidance systems what so ever. When something was launched at a high fraction of .C guidance systems would of been no use and warheads would add nothing damage wise.

The massive kzinti yawned loudly as he exposed the pink of his curled tongue along with an impressive array of sharp teeth designed to grab and tear at the flesh of his victims. The target was chosen purely out of convenience and proximity. Not of malice or a deep hatred or even at the request of the patriarch.

The feline-like creature stood up slowly his naked pink tail swaying slowly as he paced out of the bridge into the mess hall where a young human female sat in a corner. A slave from one of the many raids on ships, her ragged clothes testified to that fact. G’urz-Captain watched the female monkey out of the corner of his eyes; he could barely tolerate her stink, the kind of stink that could not be washed away. The stink of a cowardly monkey, although he did find her useful and it was interesting at times to see her scurry around the ship that was probably one of the few reasons why she did not share the same fate as her companions as a meal.

He unsealed a fresh package of meat with one of his clawed fingers and devoured it fiercely before returning to the bridge his hunger appeased for now.

“C’tuk-sensor operator status on our objective?” the captain hissed and spat in Hero’s tongue demanding an answer immediately.

“Dominate one, we are leaving hyper-space now, sending commands to power down and drift now. “ he responded proudly as the lights dimmed and faded in and out, the air cleaner we’re barely functioning well enough to clean out the stale air.

G’urz-captian purred, he was pleased the plan was taking shape quickly as they crossed into the gravity well, their hyper-drives would not work inside the gravity well so they had to resort to their grav polarizers for any movement they would have to make during combat.

The small pirate fleet drifted slowly towards the planet slowly spreading out into smaller groups, their plan to surround and corral their prey towards the planet and destroy them, but that was still hours of low .C drifting till they would be within weapons range.

ASJ Constantine, Planetary Orbit, Tau Ceti System, Associated Systems of Klonor

With a small bleep the Ergometer screen had suddenly lit up, reading Hyper-atomics near the systems edge. Re-focused sensors directed towards the flash of Trans-dimentional passage revealed the cause of the Hyper-atomics, a small fleet of ships had suddenly appeared within the system and were rapidly moving inwards at Sub-Light sppeds. The sensor station attendant reached to the side and flipped a rather large switch, alerting the Bridge Commander of the new anomolies and opening a comm link to the Captains quarters at the same time.

"Captain! This is Ensign Robin Leo, we have just detected numerous vessels on an inbound course from the systems edge. We estimate approximately a dozen ships, largely combat-oriented in their design."

"Damnit, I'll be right there."

Even with his anger at being given such a low-level assignment the Captain didn't really want a fight, he didn't enjoy wasting the lives of his men. But he had a job to do, and he stepped through the Phase Gate to the Bridge. He quickly glanced over the sensor profiles of the new contacts and began issuing orders.

"Bring the ship up the Tactical Alert Beta. Bring the targeting computers on-line and ready the ship for combat. Send a message to the Illium, instruct them that we have unwelcome visitors in the system. Once that's done get us moving towards the new arrivals, let's see if we can get this all sorted out."

Slowly, the massive ship broke orbit and began to move towards the invading vessels.

"Start transmitting to the ships, maybe they're just lost and need a few directions."
El Sentiel

G'urz-Captain gave the Kzinti eqivalent to a wry smile as he listened to the transmission, so far the plan was going perfectly. G'urz mentally kicked himself for assuming victory so early into the hunt. A wise hunter doesn't feast on his prey while it still breaths.

C'tuk-Sensor Operator seemed puzzled as he read the incoming sensor data. although only minimal power was being applied to the sensor network it was enough to tell C'tuk-Sensor Operator that only one ship was moving out of orbit, which ship was another question.

The next step in the plan was delicate and required patience. G'urz-Captain glanced at his bridge crew. Communications Officer had no name, he had not yet earn the right to bare a name but he showed promise as he started a recording. He huffed deeply as he pressed down on the record button on his chair.

"this is the mark anthony*static* we
*static* have *static* attack by-*static* unknown
*static* I *static*no propuls-*static* control *static*
heav-*static* casualities.
Transmission Ended

G'urz-Captain ended the recording and let Communications Officer purposely scramble and edit the message till it gave the appearence of a human ship is need, he just hoped his voice wouldn't give them away.

to further the deceit, a faked decompression explosion ripped along along it's side sending debris out into the void.

Although many Kzinti would consider these tactics cowardly, G'urz simply retorted "a blind hunter stalks by nose, and a smart hunter stalks his prey using all the resources the One Fanged God has given him"

"A damaged convoy? Like I've never heard that one before. Bring us up to Tactical Alert Alpha, but keep us moving towards them. It's possible they're telling the truth. Once we're in range dispatch repair ships, have them dock and see what's up over there. Oh, send three Elysiums with them, Marines on all just in case those people decide to get frisk with our engineers."

The Constantine continued to approach the newcomers, its shields charging and weaponry glowing 'just in case'.

As it got near to the alien vessels ('near' when you consider how far apart they started) the docking bay doors opened and out swam several dozen Hygeia class Support Ships accompanied by three Elysium class Transports. All the vessels quickly sped through space and attempted to dock with the aliens.

G'urz-Captain curse loudly as anger scent poured into the air, the air filter struggling to filter it out, forcing himself calm he stood up his naked pink tail rigid.

"Communications Officer, send them a message text only aswell to the other ships." G'urz-Captain roared as he put on his pressurized combat suit, it took him no more than 30 seconds to seal and pressurize the bulky suit. the message was simple and written in Hero's Tongue although the meaning would become appearent all to soon

h'uvf (attack)

no more than 30 seconds elapsed after the message was sent the engines were brought to full power and engines whined as the ship began to picking up it's pace heading directly towards the monkey ship.

"Vak'nur-Weapons Operator extend the egg pylon, enter a targetting solution for the planet after we have cleared the monkey ship fire." he didn't wait for Vak'nur-Weapons Operator to reply but continued giving orders as the ship continued to pick up high .C speeds, "Communications Officer, transmit to the fleet tell them to ignore the smaller ships and release a volley of ztdiwt missiles at the monkey ship!"

The ztdiwt missiles were a recent invention of the patriarchy, they had no offensive uses other than to release a spreading cloud of ionized particles that would wreck havoc on an enemies sensors.

The tungsten egg would provide the perfect distraction forcing the enemy ship to divert some of it's resources to destroy it or if they ignored it hitting the planet causing massive damage. they plan was to force the monkeys between a rock and a hard place as they had often said.

G'urz-Captain slammed his clawed fist down on the intercom to to turret controll room, screaming into the reciever "Target any inbound weapons do not target the enemy ship, focus on the projectiles" he changed the channel to the rail driver controll room " find their weak point and hammer at it, do not fail the One Fanged God."

"Sir! We have detected weapons fire from the inbound ships! I'm detecting a large projectile fired in our direction!"

"Shit! Lock on and destroy it!"

"Wait a second, sir. It's headed towards the planet, it's not gonna hit us or any part of the base."

"Our survey teams have left the surface, right?"

"Yes, sir. They've been gone for days."

"Good, let the hunk of metal go then, no use bothering to destroy it. I guess this means they're not friendly then. Get a targeting lock on all their vessels and prepare to fire the Heavy Beam Cannons, let's end this fight quickly before they do something intelligent."

"Sir, we're getting interference on the sensors. Precise targeting lock is unavailable at this time."

"Bloody hell. Switch over the Massometers, use them."

"Done, sir. Weapons are hot."

"Excellent. Dice 'em."

At that the fourteen Heavy Beam Cannons and over sixty Advanced Laser Turrets began pouring energy into the oncoming ships.

OOC: I still need specs on your ships so I know how to respond to your attacks.
