A beaten up Land Rover bounces down a ruddy dirt road towards a large group of buildings

AK-74 toting guards patrol the perimeter as the Rover comes to a halt in front of a large two story building

A young man in a business suit enters a room where an older, ragged man sits

“Mr. Murdoch…Mr. Lander is wondering why there has been a drop in production.”

“Tell Lander the mine will be back in order…we just had a little trouble earlier.”

A drunken man stumbles through the tall grass at night

“What kind of trouble?”

The man turns and opens his mouth

“Man-eater.”

The next morning Murdoch slams a file down onto his desk.

“It was a damn lion.”

ATTACKS THEY CAN’T EXPLAIN

“Sir, lions don’t kill like that.”

Night, guards hide in doorways and behind crude sandbag walls. Something runs past them, gunfire erupts. They cease-fire as a man comes out of a doorway cursing, holding his leg.

“You bastar…”

A dark shape runs out and snatches him, screaming and more gunfire follow

BY THINGS THEY KNOW NOTHING OF

“I don’t get this…no blood, no tracks…no nothing.”

A man dressed in native garb and holding a crude walking stick looks at Murdoch.

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF CITY OF THE DEAD

“You must leave…you have awakened demons of past.”

COMES A NEW CHAPTER IN HORROR

Three men descend down walls of rock and shine their lights on a broken rock.

“Jesus.”

The night sky erupts as a hanger explodes, sending a ball of fire high into the sky, men dive away as a dark shape runs out of the hanger

Guards and workers fire rifles into the darkness, roaring and screeching comes from all around as they run out of ammunition

“We don’t have enough fucking ammo Riley!”

A lit Zippo lighter is brought to a fuse and TNT is tossed down a long shaft

Men clad in bright armor and bearing swords and shields battle large creatures, the men are falling left and right

A woman runs through the offices, something large pounces on her as she screams

The bright sun shows the desert covered in human corpse and red in blood

The TNT explodes, the fire shoots up the mineshaft, Riley leaps out of the way and tumbles into a ditch.

A man screams as he slowly losses grip on the rocks and is pulled below in the darkness.

I would, but I'm already doing too much

Yup, I am hosting another horror Rp folks.

This one is called Shadows and is going to be a blend of blood-gore horror/action/suspense/psychological horror.

I think the trailer is enough to get everyone interested at the moment and I will do more stuff later.

Unlike my AVP series or my two zombie Rps, I will not go into very much detail on the monsters. I will let you think of what they could be.

I will also limit the amount of Rpers to about 6-8 including myself.

Overview:

Shadows setting is very much like Kenya or African grasslands. Lander Mining Consolidated runs a highly productive platnium mine, though when production slows down and questions are raised; the blame is layed on many of the natives who are used as miners.

Production gets back on track until one night a drunk miner is apparently killed by a lion. Teams are sent out to find the lion and come back empty handed.

As time goes on, as the bodies pile up, and ammo is almost gone...it becomes very clear the killers are not lions at all.

OoC: Sounds very promising, could I participate in this RP? It sounds a bit like Congo...

Once I have given everyone who wants to sign up a chance and you have sent me character ideas, I will make my choice.

Now, for characters I want regular humans. No psychic powers, no speical X-men like ablities...just your run of the mill humans.

Possible characters:

Miners: Says it all, works in the mines

Guards: Lander Mining Consolidated employs a large number of ex-Spec Ops to be part of its security force. Armed with AK-74s, they are tough and battle hardened.

Other workers: Mechanics, office workers, janitors etc.

History: Daveed was orphaned at an early age, just 5, and was raised in a series of foster homes and orphanages. He lied about his age and joined the military at age 16 - he looked older. He quickly proved to have 'what it takes' and was transfered into the Special Forces and recieved training as a Combat Medic. He earned his GED and eventually a college degree while in the military . He left the military at age 30, having been accepted into a prestigeous medical school. During his internship he did an unauthorized procedure, was dismissed and was barred from ever becomeing a physician He became a itenerant mercenary, passing himself off as M.A.S.H. / trauma specialist physician to various employeers. He did well for a few years, but then the mercenary group that he was working with found themselves on the losing side, betrayed and captured. The conditions they were held in were nightmareish. Daveed tried to save as many of his fellows as possible, but with no medical supplies, no sanitation, inadequate food and water, and the nearly continuous torture- one by one they died before his eyes.

He is all but an alcoholic, drinking to drown out the nightmares and memories. He would commit suicide, but he is too disciplined to. Daveed does sporadically put himself through a strenuous exercise program, and builds a sweatlodge to purge the toxins. He is still a decent shot with a pistol and rifle, but no "ace" no superhuman shot.

Daveed often has hallucinations when drunk, and has been known to shoot at them...but not recently. He's been the camp doctor for about 6 months...

He had a good upbringing, two loving parents who are now deceased at the ages of 84 and 86. He got through high school with excellent grades and graduated vallad victorian. (not sure how to spell that.) When he went to college, he was studying to be a bio. weapons engineer, but never completed college. after 14 years of getting various degrees to be a highly trained engineer, he was kicked out of college. the reasons as to why have never been released. his own parents didnt know why. after this, he disappeared for years and was finally located about 20 years ago, working at this facility. Most people dont even know his name.
He plays things close to his chest, and doesnt seem to make contact with anyone besides the payroll officer. rumor mill has it though, that he got kicked out of college for some kind of "accident"....

OOC: Simitar, I don't see myself in your list but if you have openings I'm interested in playing! Besides, this sounds like a story that could use a paleontologist, and I can play that role :)

Considering himself a "typical blue-collar family guy at heart," Pinkerton holds his wife and 9-year-old daughter in high regard, keeping with them regularly, even though his profession has lately lead him further away from home and lately he has been having a strained relation with his wife. During his spare time at home he's all over the crossword puzzles, and with friends will watch football when in season (he roots for the Baltimore Ravens and as a Virginia Tech graduate, naturally he's a Hoakie fan).

Relatively young for his profession, Pinkerton is even less regarded due to his outlandish allegations of "an alien technology and life" that he believes attacked the planet during the last ice age. Such philosophy has given him unfavorable relations among his colleagues, but nonetheless Pinkerton has been adamant in his suppostition and his research has been geared in proving this.

He heard of these "lion" attacks and, on a blind hunch, decides to investigate it to see if it has any relation to his theoretical Ice Age attack.

I'd really like to use Ruben again. Either acting as an office worker or mechanic. I think he fits in well with these horror RP's and I'd like to develop his character a little more in this RP.

Bio:
Stricken with a genetic disorder, Marcus lost sight of the world when he was a young teenager. Since then, he has learned to adapt to this, and continues to live his life as best as he can. He is a normal civilian, with a doctorate in Psychology. He lives in a nearby town, where he regularly schedules appointments that relate to his field of study.

Kind of like what happended to a British rail-road construction process that was haunted by two man-eating lions in the late 19th Century. I should have a character profile tomorrow.

Right...location...most important thing:


Platinum Mine 88 is located in an area much like the Tsavo area of Kenya. There is a lot of grassland with some large thorn bushes and small pitiful forests.

There is also a small sandy plain with large rocks and boulders in it.

The nearst town is nearly 200 miles away. There is a village of natives only a mile away from the main worksite, though they lack any kind of modern equipment. The natives slowly grow increasly hostile during the rp.

The camp is made up of about a dozen single story suttaco buildings with corguated steel roofs. The only 2 story building is the main office. There is a small airfield with a small hanger and a two helipads each holding a Mi-17 helicoptor.

The base is slightly underfunded and there are noticable areas that need to be repaired and some of the vehicles are canniablized to make others work.

Oh no... Ruben is far from legit... :P

Bio:

Murdoch was raised in a broken family with his parents divorcing when he was nine. Living with his mother, who worked for LMC as a secretary, he spent much of his time after school watching her work and helping out. When he was sixteen, he returned home to find his mother dead. His father had murdered her because she had refused to come back to him.

Murdoch turned very sour and a hard person to like after that day. He took a job at LMC and had slowly worked his way up the ladder before being tossed out to manage the platinum mine. Because of this he has grown more angry and his temper even shorter.

The only thing Murdoch wants is retirement.

Riley grew up in a small seaside community helping his father fix boat engines. Going off to a mechanics school, Riley graduated at the top of his class. He joined LMC and has been practically all over the world repairing machines. Currently based at PM88, his main job is to keep the Mi-17s running. When he is not working on the choppers, he is usually biking around on a old, rusty mountain bike going from building to building, trying to help keep it running.

Overall Appearance: Short hair and a pronounced jaw gives Rob the look of ignorance from first sight, his dull brown eyes further that look but every square inch of Rob is packed full of muscle, he never had the brains to do anything else that didn't involve menial work so he is in very good shape. Also, he usually wears baggy trouses and a tight shirt to show off his intimidating body.

History: Born into a working class family; in Hull, England, where swearing and violence was the norm, Robert grew up in very strenuous conditions, he received abuse from his father regularly, thankfully his brother Jeremy put a stop to this, for a while, his sister was pregnant by fifteen and his older brother; his protector, left home at eighteen when he couldn't stand his father anymore. The beatings resumed and Rob grew into an increasingly aggressive young man, he always picked fights at his public school and won but his grades plummeted terribly but he stuck it out and got a GCSE - PE.

As soon as Rob left school, he joined the army at sixteen, he lied about his age so he could get into active service, normally the training period was required but Rob was just shoved into an eight week boot camp and sent off to the front, where British forces needed every man they could get. After some time serving in Iraq, the army noticed a slight error in Rob's file regarding his age. Rob was called back from the front and thrown out onto the street. Rob had nowhere to go and a reasonably well paid job at the LMC as a guard seemed appealing…little did he know his wage was soon to become hazard pay...

Character: Rob had a troubled childhood and it shows through in his arrogant, aggressive attitude towards others, he is a run-of-the-mill bully and will attempt to assert authority over anyone smaller or weaker than him, however, when faced with a real threat, Rob turns into a complete coward. Rob can be friendly but only with people he considers "equals", anyone stronger is feared, anyone weaker is bullied, you have to be exactly "equal" to get along with Rob. And Rob only respects strength and your physical appearance, intellect has no sway on the thick Rob.

Bio: Nagubuma was born in Illinois in 1966 and had Japanese ancestry. Was a very strong child and was often mocked at school and was called a "Chinese Commie" because of his Asian heritage which made him lash out at people in fights that he often won. Grades were at about an average, but found his service in the Army Ranger Corps which he applied to join in 1986 at the age of 20. He went through the boot camp and was one of the best recruits. In 1993, he was part of the botched Mogadishu operation. After being held prisoner by the Somalians, he had a hatred towards Africans from that time forward. He found himself without a job after being returned to the USA, so he took a job at being a guard at LMC. Was really pissed off at returning to Africa as an assignment for a platinum mine. Never knew what would happen there.

Biography:

Ruben Halifax is a cold hearted killer. There is no denying such, even he will tell you so. What makes this man different from your normal homicidal maniac is that Ruben is not insane, nor does he derive some sick pleasure from end the life of others. He is a man of goals and believes any means will justify his ends.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Ruben ended up in jail within the United States, although the charge had been reduced to manslaughter, it was jail time nonetheless. Ruben had quickly portrayed himself as a man that would retaliate with extreme violence if provoked, resulting in the severe injuries of another inmate.

After the zombie incident, Ruben had taken advantage of the situation and made his escape. He had no trouble posing as an average citizen and is now within the safety of a military fort.

Skilled in close combat, Ruben is most deadly with blades yet he is reasonably adept with guns but prefers a bow if he must use projectile weapons. Ruben has no real interest in the zombies, save that he wants them gone. They are preventing his goals from becoming reality and so he shall rid the nation of them by any means...

After escaping the incident within the US, Ruben made his way to the prosperous nation of Assingotn. There he set himself up as a con man and made a new life for himself as most of his details were lost in American data banks.

Ruben has picked up a few new skills from Assington, including computer systems and learned of a psychic potential he supposedly has. Whilst he has 'some' ability, he isn't very strong with it and prefers not to rely on it.

These days, Ruben is well established and frequently travels the world, gaining himself necessary assets and fulfilling goals in his continuing efforts to fulfill the his great plan. He was last sighted The Golden Simatar

After escaping the situation in The Golden Simatar, Ruben made a note never to return. He deemed the government idiots, the people misguided sheep and the military lucky. After being caught during a bank heist, Ruben ended up fighting alongside other mercs against a bunch of viral induced zombies.

Now thoroughly sick of all things that lurk around and kill people, Ruben decided to get away from big cities and scientific labs. Ruben is now works under the gusie of a Lander Mining Consolidated mechanic and endevours to raise the funds he deems necessary, even if it means stealing the bounty of miners.

Ruben has yet another plan and doesn't want anything getting in the way. He's willing to kill to keep things running smoothly and isn't in a good mood after the last few years.
