Lamberti became the youngest player to ever feature for the first team at Arcticala Inlet and has been tipped as the next Giacomo Adika after a high profile transfer to Nusira-Lionta following Vilitan Season 9. At just 17 years old, looked set to be a regular in the Vilitan starting lineup following the semi-retirement of Adika and Enzo Ahat. However, a widely-publicized screw up in World Cup 19 cost Lamberti his position at Nusira Lionta, and he moved to Jlinal Cove.

MIDFIELDERS:

[ ] Jonjo Hulyer [ - Marine Coast United - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 16 GOALS::SR: 2 U21: 0 REG: 0 )
Jonjo Hulyet is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the Marine Coast academy in many seasons. He is expected to challenge for a place in the Marine Coast Lineup at just 16 years of age, Preferring to attack down the middle or on the left flank.

[ ] Sylvain Emeka-Tuai [ - Strike FC - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 2 U21: 3 REG: 0 )
Sylvain was a transfer target of Santo Kecker at Strike FC, and was acquired following Terraroka Spirit's relegation to the Declasse division.

------- M RC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 3 REG: 0 )

[ 76 ] Rueben Laberge [ - Iskara Daii (STR) - ]
------- M C ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: 1 U21: 0 REG: 0 )
Thrusted into the limelight from obscurity, the Daii have hid this kid's talents well. Will form an all-Vilitan central midfield with Antonis Ratuva at the Daii

[ ] Antonis Siazzu [ - Arcticala Inlet - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 5 U21: 7 REG: 0 )
Siazzu is a product of the Yeaddin Owls youth academy, moving on a fully funded loan deal to Melmondian side Titania Forests during the World Cup 19 Qualifiers. The impressive youth midfielder is one of the youngest since World Cup 13 to make a regular starting role in the Senior National Team, taking up the role during World Cup 19 Qualifiers at just 17 years of age. Working under Coach Nigel Chapman, Siazzu was apart of arguably the best midfield lineup in the entire World, taking up a central role alongside Calaesa Mitaroka, with the phenominal Inaki Soler and the always reliable Tanner Nerni on either side. However, Siazzu and Soler left the Owls during the Season 12 Exodus to train independantly and focus on international play. However, after failing to achieve promotion with Alikki-Corra in Season 13, the price on Siazzu's head was to much for the Declasse side to pass up, with the exciting young midfielder moving to Arcticala Inlet for a fee almost double that of the previous record for a Vilitan club.

FORWARDS:

[ 49 ] Tika Massa [ - Makosile - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 15 GOALS::SR: 1 U21: 2 REG: 0 )
Tika Massa was thrust into the Vilitan Spotlight after netting on his debut performance in the Jurassic Invitational Tournament after coming on as a sub. Massa's late goal sent Vilita into the Semi Finals of the inagural Jurassic competition.

------- F C ( AGE: 15 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ 46 ] Julian Lisbie [ - Arcticala Inlet - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 18 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ 47 ] Ippolit Adjei [ - Arcticala Inlet - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 5 REG: 1 )
Adjei moved to Arcticala Inlet during the Yeaddin Exodus following Season 12, the first in history that Yeaddin were not in the top 2.

Druida 6 - Liverpool England 2

In an amazing display of skill from the Liverpool England under 21s, or lack of, the Young Terminators lost by four goals 6-2 against Druida, with two consolation penalties in the 87th and 90th minutes.

The result means that Ralph Sirx's job with the FALE as under 21 manager is on the line, as the FALE's aim was, and still is, to reach the last eight of the tournament.

Sirx, who gave permission for Chacor native and Liverpool England citizen Dave Daniels, now 20, to play for the Fmjphoenican team (Daniels' grandparents were Fmjphoenican) last cup has seriously backfired, as Daniels now has 6 full Fmjphoenican caps to his name, and a couple of international goals too.

Sirx knows that his team could have done with Daniels, as his team crumbled inside the opening 15 minutes conceding five in quick succession thanks to two clumsy challenges that gave Druida a free kick (dispatched easily into the top left corner of the net from 20 yards) and a penalty (dispatched with the same calmness as the free kick) within the opening three minutes.

The rout continued; after another three minutes a well-worked move saw Druidan forward #10 jink past not one, not two, but three defenders before taking it all the way by runding the goal keeper to make it 3-0.

There were still 84 minutes to play, but you could have told by the looks on Sirx's face that that was his side's chances of progressing all but gone. 4-0 came after 10 minutes, a weak back-pass that slipped past the goalkeeper, courtesy of first-time defender Toby Yanovic, 18.

Yanovic then got himself sent off for a second bookable offence five minutes later after he clumsily felled Druidan #10, who calmly go up and struck home the resulting 25 yard free kick for his hat-trick.

The sixth goal came after 56 minutes, although the Young Terminators' defence had seemingly staunched the flow of opponent's attacks, they were unable to do anything about #10's fourth goal, a blast from 35 yards. Fulltime, 6-2.

Special Report: When Oakers Breed

-----------------------The Vilitan Under-21 Squad will roll out with a new face between the sticks for the first time in Vilitan colors. It will not be just any old Vilitan who will be taking over where Alioum Mané left off. It will be a player with all the media spotlight on him.

-----------------------Born the son of Colonial Sile midfielder and Oaker National Team player Arthin Oaker and his wife, Turoki native Oioau Oaker-Lialloi, 14 year old Jawz Oaker has been guaranteed his place in the Under-21's and been touted as one of the best goalkeeping prospects the Vilitan Cove has ever seen. Despite pressure from his father to compete under his Oaker heritage, young Jawz took the advice of his mother, and when he was noticed by the Vilitan Under-21 scouts, in Sile to watch Thierry Columbo, Oaker jumped at the chance to train with the World Cup 20 Championship nation. Oaker had just joined the Acadamy at Makosile, again going against his fathers wishes. The elder Arthin Oaker, a horrible player for Colonial Sile, who were relegated from the Stellar Division in Season 14, had hoped his son would join the Colonial academy. Jawz opted for the optimism of Makosile, and the opportunity to train along side long-time Yeaddin Owls and Marine Coast United goalkeeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker.

-----------------------A spat quickly rose between father and son, and the two have not spoken, despite living in the same household, since Jawz first pulled on a Makosile uniform. Should the two teams meet up in the Vilitan Cup in season 15, watch for an epic battle between Colonial Adeptedness and Youthful exuberation. Until then, Oaker's around the world beware. Theres a new Oaker in town, and he's playing in Teal.

U21WC13 can be Lucky for Someone
Simeone Di Bradini given Under-21 Job

For the last nineteen years, Starblaydia have had consisently one of the best Under-21 teams in the world. Thought yet to take home a trophy, Starblaydia have taken hom the Third-Placed title on four different occasions in the past twelve years. Not as successful as Rejistania's young Orange-Blues, for instance, the youngsters who play in the white-and-purple of Starblaydia have always been a source of pride for Starblaydi football fans.

With the bookies' most recent odds making Starblaydia as one of the clear favourites to win, those in the betting community believe that Starblaydia can, finally, take the Under-21 Gold they have been striving for in the past twenty-four years. Twenty-four years ago, in fact, Simeone Di Bradini lit up Starblaydi football with Three goals in Four appearances. Now he directs the next generation in their bids for glory in a Captain Picard style, only with hair.

Looking at the team itself, the solid core of the last team remains, with only four Starting XI changes made from the team that lined up two years ago. Gbenga Ogunniya returns as Captain in his third tournament, hoping to add to his two Bronze Medals already in his Under-21 career. Many of the twenty and twenty-one year-old players already own two Third-Placed medals to their names, and they will be desperately trying to improve on that situation. Everywhere within this team there is talent, strength and pride. From the partnership of Sodek and Tumunzahar, one of whom will surely break into the First Team at a national level, to Steliopolous' rise to fame in the Four Nations Invitational, or Surachai Buathiang's sudden thrust into the spotlight. Even Aiden Matranga's youngest son, Itechton, can really make a name for himself and join his father and older brother Nick in the halls of Starblaydi heros.

So far, this is Starblaydia's Bronze Generation of footballers. will the names of Ogunniya, Tumunzahar, Sodek, de Montford, Steliopolous, Vang, Fuinbar and Terrenson be part of a true Golden Generation of Starblaydi football? The truth can be found over in Total n Utter Insanity in the next few weeks.

OOC: so when's this scorination thing gonna begin?

And is division 2 a good division to be in or not?

OOC: Its already started, as you can see by LE's post, as he must have been on IRC when TnUI scorinated. You should get your MD1 TG tomorrow along with everyone else who wasn't on IRC at the time

And its 'Group B', not 'Division 2', and there are three nations all ready to kick your ass :D

Group H:
Starblaydia (2)
Kylaai (22)
Funny Looking Islands (11)
Crystilakere (16)

Second-Seeds Starblaydia were drawn last of the eight seeds, placing them in Group H. Here they will meet Funny Looking Islands (11th), Crystilakere (16th) and Kylaai (22nd). Other than Starblaydia, the Group H list is less of a "Who's Who?" and more of a "Who?". Former nudists Kylaai and the Funny Looking Islands are in this Group, as well as Crystilakere, the former World Champions at Senior Level.

We should all know where Crystilakere is, living in Atlantian Oceania as we do, but for the Funny Looking Islands, it became a little different. We looked at a map and tried to find the funniest-looking islands we could. It soon dawned on us, however, that this is a very subjective issue on how amusing different land masses can be. The one shaped like a phallus, for instance, got many people in our office giggling, but surely isn't universally classed as 'funny'. An island that looked at a small kitten, however, didn't provoke much humour amongst the men within our office.

So, a thrashing of Crystilakere, Kylaai and the Subjectively-Funny-looking Islands, Starblaydia should be looking forward to a tricky Second-Round match that the overall winners could come from, followed by a relatively-easy Quarter-Final, an either-way Semi-Final, then a victorious Final/Third-Placed match for us.

Why not just crown Starblaydia the Under-21 World Cup Champions now? Wait, it doesn't work like that? Bugger.

I dunno... Maybe a miracle will happen... or we will be kicked around more than the ball. But AOD teams will prevail! (Maybe ADD teams with all the posts going to happen)

Sarzonian Junior Stars

Coach: Cal Trottier

ROSTER (starters in BOLD)

GOALKEEPERS:
18 Tom Beneditto (New Daurmont Dragons - amateur): Beneditto served as the reserve goalkeeper on the last World Cup team. At 21 years old, his time to cement a spot in Sarzonian football history is winding down.
39 Blaine Wilcox (no affiliation): Wilcox steps into an unenviable situation with the age-related ineligibility of Harvey Cooley, but at least it's as the reserve goalkeeper. At 18 years old, his time is closing in.

DEFENDERS:
34 Alain Beaumont (Syossett Scouts): He has turned into a leader for the Scouts, helping the team finish just one point out of the playoffs, even though he's just 21 years old.
13 Ettore Salivani (no affiliation): This recent emigre from Pacitalia made the team by being a dogged defender and can play either halfback position. This 19 year old is not well-suited to play sweeper.
9 Roger Torotello (Tyrol Tigers - minor league): The first major starter for the national team from the Tigers since midfielder Valentin Kienzl, this 20 year old hopes to follow in his footsteps.
27 Josh Cefcen (Wilmington College): A distant relative of one-time Krytenian national teamer Roger Cefcen, 21 year old Josh shares little of his ancestor's offensive skills, but is an instinctive defender.
38 Chris Willingham (San Pedro Junior College): At 19 years old, he's going to have to learn how to play the man-marking style Trottier prefers, as he's better known for a more zone marking style.

MIDFIELDERS
35 Brent Tallisman (St. George): Can play either attacking or defensive midfield for his team and will now be called upon to serve as the playmaker. At 21 years old, he's got a huge future ahead of him.
36 Roy Tinsley (Rypien City College): Tinsley plays defense well enough to play as a defender if needed, but has just enough ball skills to join the attack if the team is out of substitutes. He's 21 years old.
4 Jenna Raven (Paleuma High School): Though she's only 17 years old, she won a starting job with her skill and her maturity.
19 Jarret Sanderson (no affiliation): Labelled as a malcontent, Sanderson has prodigous talent but a bit of a temper. He'll have to curb that to stay on the Junior Stars. He's 16 and acts every bit the part.
22 Larry Cole (St. George): Is able to play defender or defensive midfielder. At 19 years old, he'll have a role on the team for a while.
24 Roger Lipscomb (Joe Gibbs University): Added to the roster for depth at defensive midfielder, Lipscomb has become known as a rugged force, especially for an 18 year old freshman.
28 Ben Traber (Woodstock Wolves - semipro): This 19 year old left high school and didn't catch on with a college side, so he decided to play semipro ball instead. He caught on as a natural at possession football and may trigger a more offensive-minded approach in future Cups.

FORWARDS:
16 Roy Spencer (Endymion State University): Steps in as a starting forward after the previous two forwards graduated from the Under 21 national team. Holds the ball extremely well. At 20 years old, expected to play withdrawn forward.
15 Dave Lord (Crosby College): Lord set a record for most goals by a high school player in a single season and in a career. At 21 years old, the team is hoping that translates to goals on the Under 21 national team.
17 Marshall Hendricks (Woodstock City College): He's the second youngest player on the Junior Stars, only nine days older than Sanderson, but he couldn't be any more different in terms of maturity. He may be on the national team for a long time.

Arthur: Annie, do you have the results from Total n Utter Insanity yet?

Annie: Sir, I've told you once, and I'll tell you again: You do not need mental help.

Arthur: No Annie, the scores from the under 21s!

Annie: Oh, those

*goes searching around the desk, before handing a sheet of paper to Arthur*

Arthur: Annie, that's my lottery ticket. Would you like to try again?

*Annie takes another look, handing another sheet of paper to Arthur*

Arthur: Again, Annie, this is not the right paper. Now you've handed me the baseball team's first result.

Annie: Sir, that is the result from Total n Utter Insanity.

*Arthur looks again*

Arthur: Did Ken forget to send out the defense? Annie, call Manager Morchant. Something about this is not right.

*Meanwhile, in TnUI, a phone rings*

*Ken Morchant, manager of the u21 squad, picks up*

*phone continues ringing*

*Ken picks up the other phone*

*phone continues ringing*

*Ken reaches under pillow, finds the right phone*

*Ken opens phone, puts it to ear*

*phone continues ringing*

*Ken looks at phone in disgust, then presses SEND*

Ken: (Groggily) Hello?

Arthur: Ken, Arthur Schram here. Heard you had an interesting result with Lovisa?

Ken: Well, I guess that's how you could put it. I'd simply call it a lack of defense. Whatever happened to System Karela?

Arthur: Remember, you're down by two goals. No need to pull out the Orange and Blue shirts yet.

Ken: True. But I could use another new goal scorer. Is Pedro free to come down?

*Arthur paused*

Arthur: I don't know, Ken. Mr. Vasquez would be helpful for you, no doubt. But we're going to need him in the Cup of Harmony. I can't have him get injured here. Let me get back to you on that.

Two hours later...

*Ken's phone rings, is picked up immediately*

Ken: Yeah?

Arthur: Ken, Pedro is on the way. He should be ready for your second match. Good luck.

Ken: Thanks, Arthur. How'd you ever get Robbie to accept that?

Arthur: Actually, it was kind of odd. Robbie has not seemed himself, ever since we got knocked out of qualifying. That last-match elimination has to be eating at him again. But anyways, he didn't really care, just said to go on with it.

Ken: Well, it's great news. Thank you Arthur.

Kazakhstanian Press Conferece

Reporters jostled and pressed their questions towards Kazakhstania's Manager, Mark Windruss. No one on the Kazahstanian team had expected such a reception for a small, unheard of team, but apparently the Seed Number 24 had got the noticed. Hey, at least it was a seed. A report pushed forward a prominent question:

"Mr Windruss, who is the teams head coach for this championship?"

"Well, we have named Tom Pennock as our head coach,a s he has experience with F.C. Atryau and might lead us to several wins!" replied Windruss.

"Is that all you are looking for, wins?" queried another reporter.

"Well it's our first cup, so that's allw e can hope for. hey, we will see how we do!"

"What is the team roster?" asked the first reporter, having a louder voice than the others.

"Well, here it is!" he coughed, before listing the names.

Winning Start for Starblaydia
You score Two, we'll score Three

Simeone Di Bradini's sides have never really been blessed with the telepathic defensive styles of the solid, 'One-Nil, to the who-ev-er!' types. He's always been a man for scoring more than his opponents, rather than conceeding less, if that makes any sense. So it was unsurprising when he brought on Florencio Zaragoza for the roaming Tyree Vang to give Starblaydia an out-and-out 4-3-3 formation, so beloved of the Under-21 team he played for so many years ago.

Zaragoza played right through the middle and bagged the winning goal with just three minutes to go, as Zhorin Tumunzahar had first given Starblaydia the lead and then levelled the score at to Two-Two with his brace of goals. Surachai Buathiang also looked useful when he came on for Nelson de Montford, while Alejo Cuevo's appearance was vital to shore up the midfield late on as Kylaai pressed forward.

So, the overall message is, three points for Starblaydia today, and that's all that really matters at this stage.

Junior Stars concerned with group

A team that was on the verge of searching for its third head coach after yet another failure in the Under 21 World Cup has decided to stand pat with its hand for right now. For the most part, the team's players are back, a year older and a year wiser, and Sarzonia Coach Cal Trottier is back on the sidelines barking out instructions to his team.

It almost didn't happen that way. After the 12th World Cup, Trottier walked into Incorporated Football Federation Chairman Terry Mangione's office with a typed letter of resignation. After a four hour meeting, Mangione tore up the letter and Trottier remained with the team.

"I just told him that when I was coaching, I got a lot of grief for not making it past the second round except for one year," Mangione said. "Then the one year we didn't even make it past the knockouts, I got fired. I told [Trottier] that he was doing a great job and that he needed to give it at least one more year and not worry about what anyone else was going to say about him."

The team is hoping that having most of its experienced players returning will be a benefit to the team as it guns for its first-ever World Cup title at any level, but the team noted that its best success came when the team had mostly new players to international football.

"For some reason, experience doesn't seem to benefit us the way you'd think it would," Trottier said. "I've taken teams that I just pieced together and won matches with them and I've lost matches with teams that had players who were used to international competition. Hopefully, we'll be able to parlay our experience into success this time."

The team is going to a more attack-oriented 3-5-2 formation but defense will still be a high priority for the Junior Stars. The defense, goalkeeper and forwards are all veterans of World Cup competition, while two starting midfielders are new.

"Perhaps having the fresh blood will help infuse a little energy into the team," Mangione said. "Hopefully we can put our failures in the past and start looking to a bright future."

Ripplers hope to get back to future

After an inaugural Under 21 World Cup appearance highlighted by its debut defeat of colonial masters Sarzonia, the Talzecki Ripplers are hoping their 20th ranking will be a springboard for future success in football.

"We're still a young team as far as experience," Coach Kevin Hardy said. "Not necessarily in terms of player ages, but in terms of experience in playing the sport and doing so as a team, we're still pretty new to the whole thing. We've definitely got our work cut out for us."

The Ripplers failed to advance out of the group stage while Sarzonia advanced for the eighth time in nine World Cups. However, Hardy said comparisons between the two sides were "not realistic."

"The Junior Stars can expect to make the knockouts pretty much every single time," he said. "They have an enormous infrastructure in place to support football at all levels. We don't have that here. We're still trying to get our football organisation off the ground."

To do that, the Ripplers are going to have to rely on experienced players from the previous World Cup if they're going to have a chance to advance past the group stage. The team only lost one player to age from the inaugural side, but it was playmaking midfielder Raul Marcos. Hardy said the team still hasn't settled on a replacement for Marcos.

"We may end up not replacing his role on the club," Hardy said. "He was just too valuable for us to simply plug in a new guy and continue the way we did before. We're going to need to have all 10 [field players] step up and take on some roles they aren't used to for us to do well this time."

The Ripplers are hoping to forget the memory of their final match of the group stage, an 8-3 embarrassment against Oliverry that sent the team home due to goal differential. They are hoping that experience will help prevent that from happening again.

"That loss left a bad taste in our mouths," Hardy said. "Hopefully, things won't be so bad next time."

Giant Zucchini

NEWSFLASH:

Radolno sparked Giant Zucchini's season into life with a moment of sublime skill at the Giant Zucchini National Stadium.

Radolno opened his Under-21 account for the new season with a magnificent left-foot strike in the 50th minute which proved just enough to see off The Belmore Family.

The Real Navara man chested down a Fud cross in the box, turned and volleyed past the TBF keeper into the corner of the net.

Radolno's great strike ought to have put the game out of reach after Kebam's first-half opener.

But a TBF substitute seized a 70th minute chance to reduce the deficit - and set up a thrilling finish in which TBF came close to grabbing an unlikely share of the points.

TBF's late charge will not have pleased Nebitez who must have thought Radolno's strike had been enough for a comfortable win.

The Young Zucchinis had already ridden their luck in the first half with TBF only a lick of paint away from giving the visitors the lead with an audacious 30-yard strike.

Radolno's strike ultimately served to see his side home and it will have eased Nebitez's worries over the absence of so many top-class strikers.

With Stenilroy, Derfindan and Natezi sidelined, the Young Zucchinis desperately needed Radolno to spark his Giant Zucchini career into life sooner rather than later.

His line-up today included fringe players Kebam and Akak while Krisradolno only made the bench following his earlier-than-expected return from senior duty.

And that line-up clearly filled The Belmore Family with confidence as they shaped up well after Stena gave them a first-minute wake-up call by shooting over the bar.

Tenacious in defence, TBF were slowly frustrating the Young Zucchinis's attempts to get their season up and running.

TBF's clearance denied Fud and Stena put a second chance over the bar in the 15th minute.

Radolno was the busiest presence up front for the Young Zucchinis but he skewed his first chance well wide from Fud’s 19th-minute cross.

But Kebam was making the most impressive progress down the right flank while Radolno and Akak both spurned half-chances.

TBF's stunning 32nd minute effort gave the Young Zucchinis a wake-up call after the ball clattered the underside of the crossbar, bounced down on the line and away to safety.

Within a minute the Young Zucchinis were ahead when Radolno flicked on Fud’s cross from the left and Kebam stole in at the far post to grab the lead.

TBF’S bright start to the second half could have paid dividends with a powerful shot hit over the bar.

But Radolno's moment of quality appeared to put the game out of reach of the visitors.

Fud came close and Naldorino forced a magnificent point-blank save out of the Belmore keeper.

The visitors seized their chance to set up a grandstand finish, firing home from 12 yards after their initial effort was blocked by Ragerd.

TBF had plenty of hope in their attacks as they pressed for the unlikeliest of equalisers.

A shot hit the side netting and they had another effort blocked as the Young Zucchinis were forced to cling on.

Nebitez's late introduction of Krisradolno eased the tension somewhat down the right flank.

Borren came close from point-blank range and a fine Krisradolno cross ended with Naldorino firing over the bar.

TBF had plenty of reasons to be proud of at the final whistle while a relieved Nebitez gave plenty of thanks to Radolno.

Final score:

Giant Zucchini - 2
Kebam (32), Radolno (50)

The Belmore Family - 1
(75)

Can the Brzone Generation Cut It?

------------------The talk around Total n Utter Insanity this week has been the impressive warmup performances of the Starblaydian Under-21 team. The performances have been so impressive in fact, that they have been already tipped as the foundation of the Brzone Generation of Starblaydi superstars. This story has even taken cover in Vilita, where Lonngeylin City's own Surachai Buathiang is one of the hottest of young starlets playing under the captaincy of Marine Coast United's Gbenga Ogunniya.

------------------The Brzone Generation has already wielded impressive wins over Kylaai and Crystilakere, and are clear favorites to go all the way through to the final. But they will have to overcome the curse that has sunk all dreams of purple sky, leaving the Starblaydi Youth to achieve success only in the third-placed playoff a record four times. Will the Brzone Generation shake the eel off their backs? Or will the Aye-Aye rub the right way, for once.

Crystils Smashed 5-0!
Pun not resisted as 'Brzone' Generation Cruise towards Playoffs

That's it. All it took is one minor typing error near the bottom of an official Starblaydi Football Association Press Release and all of a sudden everywhere Starblaydia go they're greeted by spelling mistakes.

Just take the Giant Zucchini Roster, for instance. The people of Giant Zucchini are so poor, they live on just two doses of Pro Evolution a day. Just two. They can't even afford to have real names in that country. The rights to use real names in Giant Zucchini have been taken by the rich, so the poor young footballers of that formerly-great country have to survive on twisted anagrams given to them by their parents, so they won't be beaten-up by the upper-class' Vegetable Storm Troopers.

Just Two Credits can give a young footballer in Giant Zucchini the right to be called "Jon Parkin". Five Credits can buy a player the real-name "Leroy Lita". Do a fun-run and you can easily earn a Giant Zucchinian the right to call himself "Les Ferdinand." Even a single, paltry Credit that you drop behind the sofa and don't bother to retrieve can allow a poor young man with little talent and a penchant for diving to be given a real name, like "Cristiano Ronaldo."

So please, admist all the football fun and frolics, as Starblaydia smash Crystilakere with goals from Sodek, Buathiang and a Hat-trick from Zhorin Tumunzahar, don't forget about those worse off than you. Please give all you can for ZucchinAid, and let's make it a fantastic year for these for vegetables.

After the match:

Myk Linkosa: Inik, ever had nightmares about people chasing you and shouting things like "lehiju'ny"?

Inik Linkosa: I never had, why?

Myk: This will happen to you in case fans see your round face here.

Inik: the thing itself or the nightmares?

Myk: It depends on how lucky you are, basically.

Inik: But we won our first point...

Myk: Inik, are you aware that the Young Orange-Blues are the best team according to the rankings?

Inik: Ve... but it is better than a loss.

Myk: You were a Tihrana....

Inik: Yes, I was coach of Tihrana... why you mention it now?

Myk: Because you have the attitude of someone who fought relegation.

Inik: Successfully, for five years.

Myk: Indeed, but please think for a moment this is Najajara Ynu, or Hetkali Hetaki - and East Lithuania is Tihrana'ny.

Inik: They can't play each other due to being in different divisasi?

Myk: Gah... But if there was a match and it ended 3:3...

Inik: Then Tihrana'ny would have qualified for the XVSR and finish the first match, so a 3:3 would mean Extra time!

Myk: Inik! You are too logical! Say it was a friendly!

Inik: I think I know what you mean... here!

Myk: Paper bags? good idea!

Inik: Especially for you!

Myk: Don't care about the truth for a while... You were a Tihrana, menas you are associated with attacking soccer. So everyone will blame you, hadada su?

Inik: Ve...

Jeruselem put out the Starz

Astronomers, don't worry, it is the U21C13 results not some unGodly experiment.

Jeruselem met Sarzonia who both have an excellent record in the U21 championships apart from one not having a championship to their name. It was tough and the defenses didn't give much away but Jeruselem took the game 1-0 after a late half winner against the run of play. Jeruselem's record against Sarzonia has always been embarassingly good for reason unknown.

World Cup fans, the 2nd playoff has not been played yet ... by the way.

Giant Zucchini defeated The Belmore Family in the other Group C game to continue their good soccer results as they are also 2-1 up in their World Cup playoffs. This means Sarzonia need to get at least one win, but the weakest link is the TBF who are most likely to be ones to concede these points.

From the Sports section of The Daily NewSjwitz:

Offensive Tactics Prove Successful!

The Sjwitz supporters saw their team win 5-4 against Kazakhstania after a thrilling match which could have gone both ways. The Sjwitz team roster is still the same as during the last U20WC and most players have expressed that extra year of experience in a better style of playing. Surprisingly, the exact same 11 players were on the field that played during most of the last WC. So far it proved to be a good move by coach Gino Davis. Remarkable how coach Davis has managed to bring a 4-5-1 into an offensive game!

The goalscorers for Sjwitz:
2x ZiPeng
1x Andreasson
1x DiMare
1x Stuhl

"Remarkable was the performance of Kazakhstania's June Shumpert", said Coach Davis, "It's really a pity June isn't part of the Sjwitz squad, we could always use another player like that. I'm sure June will be showing some more of his skills during the next matches. I believe he scored three goals today didn't he?"
(OOC: left it open for you Kazakstania, feel free to RP your goalscorers in another way.)

Apprentices Hit All-Time Low
"Attacking" Side Fails To Score Against Oliverry

A 2-4 loss against Oliverry set the tone for the lucky thirteenth U21 World Cup, as Oliverry surprised many neutral spectators with notching up an important victory - despite being unseeded. Cockbill Street's side played with little creativity and many errors in defense, and a hungry new bunch of Oliverry players attacked with venom and luck.

However, after bad times come good times. Oaker, a team coming off another 3-1 victory over Pacitalia, were defeated 5-2 after James Chitterling stood up with his striker capabilities, notching a hat-trick with two volleys and an exquisite free-kick. With the defense falling a bit apart still, Sam Peterson played a good game as keeper, making four crucial saves - a particularly good one coming when <insert generic first name here> Oaker came through on goal, only to be thwarted by Peterson's diving save to the right.

Cockbill Street now face Pacitalia in what looks to be a direct play-off for qualification - luckily, they have gained a +1 goal difference, which may be crucial come the next matchday - there may a lot of mathematical conundrums surrounding the second-round qualification, as is usual with Streetian side, but for heaven's sake - just go out there and win!

Taken down in the last minute.

Hockey Canadians will not be happy to learn that they have lost 1-0 to Talzeckia. It wasn't all bad for this nation, having being introduced soccer only in 1990, they put a strong fight against Talzeckia but ended up short.

Goalkeeper Kyle Thomas made 15 saves in the effort, and the highly defensive Hockey Canadians even had a few good shots but it was no match in their opener. Bringing up the rear in Group B, they hope for a better showing against powerhouses Vilitia and Krytenia.

Chicanada gets going, takes hard loss to #6 Fmjphoenix

Fmjphoenix 5 Chicanada 3

Well, we say it's a hard loss, but only loosing by two goals to the #6 team in the tournament could be all the help the team needs in order to play better in the tournament.

Playing their first international match somewhere (we're thinking Total n Utter Insanity, but we're a tad slower than the other news organizations) Chicanada managed to keep the game interesting for most of the match. Fmjphoenix managed to pull away towards the end of the game, but the team took the loss in stride.

"The first game was most excellent in experience," CFF analysist Hobert Lovina said after the match, "and should help force the team to fix all their main flaws in order to make it to the knockout stage."

The team is expected to continue play tommorow.

GANN Sports Desk: ~ Coach Kerensky's talent seems to have rubbed off on Coach Morisato, as the Soft Wings shut down the U21 Turori team 1-0 today.

Gaian U21 Striker Avanti Kamiki came away with the game's only goal at the 24th minute, leaving the remainder of the game a series of defensive maneuvers, ones neither team was apparently fully capable of forming. It seemed at times both sides were having organizational problems, ones that actually prevented either team from getting scoring oppritunites after Kamiki's goal.

After the match, Ni Morisato had this to say.

Morisato: "We're getting our feet. Honsetly were lucky to have walked away with a goal victory, since we have some work to do to get team solidarity to an equal the regular national team has.

But we're getting there. This victory has put us on high spirits."

As they prepare for their next match, the standing already put them four goals behind group leader Hiiran. But there's plenty of matches to go before the end.

Kazakhstnaia...Lose

The title says it all. The team was hoping to break into the World Cup with a win, but that looked unlikely, even with a clsoe 5-4 score line, with various palyers scoring.

All the team can do is relax in their hotel, and hope they can witn their next game!

Junior Stars stumble out of gate, lose 1-0

The last two Under 21 World Cup qualifying efforts have looked eerily similar for the Sarzonian footballers. They started the previous World Cup with a dud against their Talzecki colonial rivals, then earned two wins to advance into the second round. This time, the Junior Stars opened World Cup XIII with another loss, this one by the score of 1-0.

"It's not urgent that we start off a tournament with a win," Coach Cal Trottier said. "But it feels a lot better to start a tournament 1-0-0 than 0-0-1. Having said that, Jeruselem is a quality opponent and they've gotten the better of us every time we've gone out there against them."

Trottier said the team would start goalkeeper Blaine Wilcox in the next game and send Tom Beneditto to the player's bench. He said the team isn't blaming Beneditto for the loss, since he made five saves, but he said Wilcox needed to play a match in must-win conditions since Beneditto is turning 22 after the World Cup ends.

"Blaine's our future," Trottier said. "We need to think the future is now, even if we still have a shot at going through to the next round." Trottier also noted that two of the team's defenders, two starting midfielders and forward Dave Lord were turning 22 after the tournament.

"We've got a very veteran crew this time around and next time they will be too old to play in this Cup. The next team will barely resemble this one."

Stars supporters can only hope the results next time will be different as well.

"So, has this yoo-too-won tournament thingy started yet?"

"Yes it has."

"Really? I didn't get the memo."

"No, I wrote it out, but then accidentally fed it to my pet tapir."

"How do you - never mind. Who did we draw?"

"Rejistania, East Lithuania and Wella."

"Oh good. Are we going out again?"

"Well...I'm not so sure..."

"What? You mean there's actually a chance that we'll finish in the top two this time!?!"

"Yes, there is. We played Wella - "

"Wella, wella, wella..."

"Why does everybody do that? We beat them 5-1."

"Hmmm...that's quite good. Too good for us - what's the catch?"

"There is no catch. We're top of the group because Rejistania and East Lithuania drew 3-3."

"So let me get this straight. We won, AND we're top?"

"Yes, that's the long and the short of it."

"Excellent. Who do we play next?"

"How am I supposed to know?"

"Because it's yor job to know these things."

"Actually it's not - I'm the janitor."

"The janitor? What are you doing in my office?"

"This isn't your office - it's the bathroom."

Starz shine and the Belmore's aren't a family

It's the U21 Champion 13, and parity has been restored in Group C.

Sarzonia beat rival Giant Zucchini 3-1 to leap into 2nd and they face The Belmore Family next. They lost to Jeruselem 1-0 last game, but the 4th seed aren't pushovers compared to the other teams. Well done Starz.

The Belmore Family played Jeruselem, and did they put up a fight? Did they show type of form. No, they lost very bad, as Jeruselem won 7-0. Yes, they conceded seven goals and Jeruselem are now guaranteed top spot unless they concede a lot of goals next game. The Jeruselem coach commented "They played so badly, they should have they stayed their hotel rooms" when refering to TBF.

Speaking of routs, Legalese lost to Druida 0-7. Last years Champions are showing some familiar form.

Sarzonia are more favoured to progress as their opponents did get smashed 7-0 while Giant Zucchini play Jeruselem which is showing form to scare the pundits.

NEWSFLASH:

Sarzonia restored their qualification chances with a 3-1 win against Giant Zucchini.

But it required two goals in seven second-half minutes from Marshall Hendricks and Ettore Salivani to silence Giant Zucchini after Radolno had dared to threaten an upset.

Radolno had cancelled out Jarret Sanderson's searing opener with a header from Nery's cross.

In the end Sarzonia merely underlined their claim that the qualification spot is theirs for the taking.

They threatened in the eighth minute, scything open the Zucchinis defence with a move that culminated in Jenna Raven playing in Brent Tallisman into space.

After striding confidently into the area, winger Tallisman lifted his shot over an advancing Esh, only for Rakereg – on his debut - to head off the line.

With Sarzonia beginning to move through the gears, Raven was then inches over the bar with a rising drive from just outside the area moments later.

Eventually, Sarzonia - and Sanderson in particular - silenced the Zucchini fans in the 22nd minute.

The goal was all of Sanderson's own making as he rode tackles from Rakereg and captain Stena before unleashing a fierce drive beyond Esh into the top left-hand corner for his fifth goal of the season.

Then they scored a second in the 28th minute.

Tallisman was the provider, darting into the area past Natezi and floating in a cross to the unmarked Sanderson, but from 14 yards he skied his right-foot volley over the bar.

There were a number of minor skirmishes to end the first period before Sarzonia then squandered what could have been costly opportunities early in the second.

Roy Spencer first headed wide a Raven free-kick and the drove an angled shot into the legs of Esh after being played in by Sanderson, allowing Giant Zucchini a degree of confidence.

They took full advantage in the 64th minute with Radolno heading home a superb left-wing cross from Nery, so ending Tom Beneditto's shut-out.

But Sarzonia proved that they deserved to qualify, countering eight minutes later with Hendricks tapping in two minutes after his arrival as a substitute, ending a move that included Roger Torotello, Sanderson, another substitute in Ben Traber and Raven.

Shortly after that, it was all over with Ettore Salivani heading home a rare goal for the team in meeting an inswinging Raven corner, so surely silencing the Zucchinis.

Final score:

Sarzonia - 3
Sanderson (22), Hendricks (71), Salivani (79)

Giant Zucchini - 1
Radolno (64)

Three from Three in Group H
Starblaydia Take Nine Points, doom Predicted

Though Nelson de Montford first and Zhorin Tumunzahar's sixth of the tournament (in just three matches, a new record for Starblaydia Under-21s) Starblaydia gave themselves yet another perfect 100% record in the Group Stage. However, black cats crossing under ladders placed on paving tile cracks are starting to unnerve the young Starblaydis.

All the anti-omens are stacking up on Starblaydia. Three wins from three for the Four-Time Third-Placed team is never a good sign. It was predicted that Starblaydia would face a 50-50 match in the Second Round against a tough opponent, and that appears to have come true as Starblaydia will take on Regional Rivals Cockbill Street. It was Cockbill Street who denied Starblaydia a Final Appearance in U21WC5, though revenge was gained in the 3PPO of U21WC7.

The last Starblaydia/Street match at these championships was in U21WC10 where Starblaydia won Three-Two in the Group Stage. Now it is the Street's turn to come back and bite Starblaydia in the Second Round arse.

Consider the nations that Starblaydia have lost to in the Second Round and Quarters of these Championships. Tanah Burung, Druida, Vilita, Bedistan, Aquiliana. The list of Under-21 World Cup nations who have scalped Starblaydia before the Semis is not particularly long but rather distinguished. The Street are certainly a distinguished name in these parts, but will they extinguish the Starblaydi Flame in U21WC13?

The Daily Druid

COULD THEY DO IT AGAIN?
By Bill Posters

After an overwhelming, if not unexpected, success in the last Under-21 World Cup, the young Druida Spectrums have a completely new line-up, with just three players surviving from the squad from last time.

However, this lot seem more than capable of putting another run together. In the group stages, they've scored an average of six goals per game, a pretty formidable attack, while the defence is now tighter than it used to be, with the goals conceded still in single figures.

But who are this new lot? Well, we'll tell you. Ron the Organ Grinder's squad is as follows...

1) Trevor Lee (19, GK, West Cefn Rangers)
2) Frankie Bell (18, LB, Bessburg)
3) Jarno Gol (19, RB, Dinamo Neodzki)
4) Trevor Cwulodden (20, CB, Graymouth)
5) Trevor Wilson (20, CM, Cefn Athletic)
6) Barry Howles (20, LM, Inter Dave)
7) Lenny Trevor (20, RM, Cruqws Cavaliers)
8) Trevor Bent (19, CF, Vecchio Victors [Starblaydia])
9) Dai Jones (17, CF, Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers)
10) Trevor Jones (16, CF, Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers)
11) Andrade Keshulonevski (19, CF, Dinamo Neodzki)

Subs:
12) Trevor Harris (19, CB, Newton Vale)
13) Elmo van der Hesselvenatchov (16, GK, Dinamo Neodzki)
14) Liam Jones (15, RM, Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers)
15) Trevor Trewman (20, CM, Parkville)
16) Trevor Helick (18, CF, Mawr City)
17) Dave Garth (20, CF, Trevor City)
18) Trevor Sebastiens (21, CF, Ormillton Weaponary)

Meanwhile, due to the continuation of Druida's good form, despite the absence of Simon Greaves, suspicion surrounding the identity of Ron the Organ Grinder has risen greatly. Surely he must know more about the game than an organ grinder should?

Stars on verge of advancing

Sarzonia moved one step closer to advancing out of Group C with a sound 3-1 win over Giant Zucchini, while Jeruselem all but punched its ticket to the knockout stage with a 7-0 whitewashing of The Belmore Family.

The Junior Stars got goals from midfielder Jarret Sanderson, substitute forward Marshall Hendricks, and defender Ettore Saliveri en route to the victory, which put the team back into position to qualify for the knockouts. For the Junior Stars to miss out, they would have to lose to The Belmore Family and Giant Zucchini would have to defeat Jeruselem, so the team is not punching their ticket to ride just yet.

"There's still much more work to be done to ensure that we're in the knockouts," Coach Cal Trottier said. "We're not luckly like those Talzecki bastards." The Sarzonian colony clinched a spot in the knockouts with wins in both its first matches, while Vilita earned two draws for second place in Group B.

"We're probably going to end up having to face Talzeckia in the next round," Wilcox said. "But that's assuming we go through and we haven't done that yet."

GANN Sports Desk: ~ The Gaian U21 team is still having cohesion problems, and it showed as they let five goals get past them, losing 5 - 2 today on San Verdi's home pitch.

The Gaian's managed to match goals through the first thirty minutes of the match, but the second half was all San Verdi, as the Soft Wing defense couldn't pull it together. The cohesion got so bad, that after the match, the Gaian U21 team was put with a traning match against the national team for forty-five minutes.

The unexpected traning session seemed to bring the U21 team into shape, and the troubled team seemed ready for their next match upcoming. If nothing else. For the tournamet however, they already are well back and need to have some help to stand a chance in the tourney. Even for their first Cup, their outlook is high.

Kodiaks Roar Back Into Contention With Big Win Over Swijzt

Chicanada 6 Sjwitz 5

The Kodiaks prove to be quick on the fly as they worked their way to a hard-fought but big in the grand scope of things 6-5 victory over 18th-ranked Sjwitz in Total n Utter Insanity to move within goal differenital of second place.

Never quite comfortable with just putting the game away, the Kodiaks and Sjwitz exchanged the lead plenty of times, with the other side always there of the equalizer. Mind you, the Kodiaks finally got to 6-5 in the 84th minute and protected it for the remaining minutes thanks to backup goalkeep Porten Klibzin who subbed for an injured Jesnui Yolen (who's continued to suffer from a hand injury during Jaxx U's semifinal loss to Territories Union in the CCAA tournament). Klibzin, who's expected to sign with Narobi or FC Finnegann after the CFF Champions season, said "Well, we ecked one by them and got lucky enough to win. I wanna see how well we can continue on in this whole thing."

"Well damn it, I was right," CFF analysist Hobert Lovina said after the match, "and they showed their moxie and scrappiness witht that victory. Even if that's their only one they should be proud of themselves for getting it." Lovina was then summilarly placed on suspension by the CFF out of fear of jinxing the teams chances of qualifying.

The team plays Kazakhstania tommorow. Now, we're not completely sure how this "cup" thing works but this might be the last game and show our side win or tie and Sjwitz lose to Fmjphoenix we could be moving on. Of course, this might a two-pronged deal where there are 4 games left. Hey, it's not like we're the InterCanton Press, they find out everything!

Another little note for our american friends. The Group Stage where you just played 3 matches is also called the First Round. Following this is the Second Round, the Quarter Finals, Semifinals and then the Playoffs/Final. Oliverry seemed to think he could make the playoffs with just 1 win. You have to make the Quarter Finals to make a playoff. The Group Stage isn't a qualifying round for the finals. These are the Under 21 World Cup Finals. Qualifying isn't RPed and doesn't have results generated. By signing up in the signup thread, or RPing in the previous Cup you are seen as qualifying for the next one. The Round of 16 is a myth.

From the Sports section of The Daily NewSjwitz:

Rover Saves the Day!

With only 8 minutes to go Fmjphoenix scored their sixth goal of the match and were leading 6-1. Steven Rover, captain of the team, suddenly got a breakthrough in his mind: "Add 7, root of 19, minus 12, carry the 1, modulo 14,... Oh My God! We can still qualify!". He fired up his teammates and the squad managed to score twice against an already qualified and uncaring Fmjphoenix. First ZiPeng scored after kicking in a freekick, then 3 minutes from time Rover himself scored with a marvellous cannonball from about 35 meters. The match ended 6-3 and after the Chicanada - Kazakhstania result rolled in it turned out that the Sjwitz national U20 side was going through, on number of goals scored.

The Sjwitz team, who have qualified with the least amount of points of all qualifiers, will now face Talzeckia in the second round. Talzeckia won group three after beating Krytenia and Hockey Canada. At that point they had already won the group and an under-motivated team lost to Vilita in their third game.

Coach Davis: "Well it seems luck is currently on our side, hopefully we can add some skills and beat Talzeckia to go to the quarters. We are a better seed so we should win and meet Rejistania or Sarzonia in the quarters.

Apprentices Redeem Self
Qualify For Second Round, Draw Tough

The Streetian Apprentices, deemed so hopeless after the initial loss to Oliverry, have really sorted themselves out throughout the group stage. After a 5-2 win over the Oakers, a potential group match clincher against seventh-seed Pacitalia looked very, very difficult. But the team held on in defence - a quality that too many Streetian teams are acquiring - and scored a couple of lucky goals to get into the second round.

It started poorly for the Streeters, though, as Pacitalia had Daggerbasher on the right back completely dumbfounded a couple of times. Luckily, Peterson was solid between the sticks, allowing Cockbill Street to recover well enough to occasionally visit the Pacitalian penalty box. In one of those cases, Einari Bjornsson was brought down (insofar as that's possible for a dwarf) and the referee gave Cockbill Street a somewhat lucky penalty. Petter Daggerbasher took it with ease, and the Street led 1-0.

Any draw would be good enough, it quickly appeared, as Oaker put five past Oliverry in the first twenty minutes to secure their place and assuring that Oliverry couldn't get more than three points. Thus, the Streetians went back in defence, concentrating on the few counter-attack chances they would inevitably get - and indeed, the tactic paid off. Peterson played even better between the sticks, rushing out in the box well, and a long goal kick was intercepted by striker James Chitterling - who added to his hat-trick in the first match, ensuring a 2-0 lead just before half-time. The second half became an exercise in Karela, but Pacitalia got the breakthrough five minutes before the end, heading a corner-kick over Peterson. But it was way too late, the Streetians won 2-1, and proceed to a second-round fight with Starblaydia - whose Under-21 talent pool, sadly, seems to be much greater and better than the Streeters.

Street + Penalites = Starblaydia Win?
More doom and gloom as Druida awaits, probably

Keith Hancock was so nearly Cockbill Street's hero in this match, but the line between hero and zero is as thin as ever, as Hancock missed some gilt-edged chances and Starblaydia rode their luck to scrape through to the Quarter-Final of their eleventh Under-21 World Cup. Starblaydia Captain Gbenga Ogunniya won his 20th Under-21 cap, a new record, with a man-of-the-match performance as Starblaydia go through to another Quarter-Final.

Though Boro-silicate headed home for the 'Street after thirty-five minutes, Hancock blazed over the bar from out wide with Angelos Prokopsis nowhere near the ball. It was left to Zhorin Tumunzahar to rescue Starblaydia in the Eighty-Fourth minute as his neat turn left Petter Daggerbasher for dead and he opened his body to fire low across the body of Sam Peterson.

So, to extra time it went, and Starblaydia fans were getting nervous. Hadn't we predicted an either-way Second Round match? This wasn't going well. Hancock missed yet another wonderufl chance for the Street as he smashed the ball past Prokopsis and cannoned the ball off the inside of the post; the woodwork coming to Starblaydia's aid.

Extra time came and went and still there was no winner. So, Starblaydia went into the most dreaded of match-deciders, the Under-21 Penalty Shoot-out.

"Bugger Me!" shouted Zhorin Tumunzahar as Starblaydia netted their third and decisive penalty. Starblaydia had just beaten the dreaded rivals 3-2 on penalties to move forward into the next round of the tournament. With Starblaydia's record Under-21 Cap winner and Goal Scorers, Ogunniya and Tumunzahar, this is certainly the best chance Starblaydia might ever have to win the Under-21 Crown. Druida (3) or Gaian Ascendancy will face us in the Quarter-Final, and we all know know who we'd rather have...

Normal service resumed

Sarzonia did make into the 2nd round of the U21C13, with a 4-1 trouncing of the disfunctional The Belmore Family who had lost 7-0 to Jeruselem earlier. Yes, the Starz can shine but Jeruselem topped Group C. It's win over Giant Zucchini 2-1 leaves it undefeated so far.

Well, that's the good news for Sarzonia. Guess who it meets in the 2nd round, Godzilla? Close, 3 times champions Rejistania. Good luck to the Starz, because they'll need it. They can win, because it's soccer and Druida did stop Godzilla last time.

Oddly, if Jeruselem makes the semi-final then Sarzonia could be the opponent if it can overcome the U21 Godzilla team.

Jeruselem meet our hapless friends South Osettia whose team did make the World Cup XXI group stage and Jeruselem didn't (blame Commerce Heights for that). We fully expect a win as they rarely beat us.

The other 2nd round match-ups
* Talzeckia(20) vs Sjwitz (18):
Hard to tell, we don't know these teams too well. No call on this one.

* Fmjphoenix (6) vs Vilita(5):
The Jungle Cats should win, but we aren't tipping this too confidently. Either way, Jeruselem don't have a good record against both teams.

* Hiiraan (8) vs Liverpool England(13):
Hiiraan should have the team to overcome the junior Terminators but LE is on the rise and an upset is on cards. Both teams have yet to make the semis.

* Oaker (20) vs Crystilakere (16):
Both aren't the best U21 teams around but the Crystils should scrape past Oaker. Oaker have been around but never achieved great heights in the U21s for some reason.

* Druida (3) vs Gaian Ascendancy: The current champs should win, but this newcomer Gaian Ascendancy had made the 2nd round. Still, Druida for us and if they don't win, it's a real upset.

* Starblaydia (2) vs Cockbill Street(14): The another "star" team should progress. Saying that, Starblaydia always look good until the semis.

Streak snapped

For the Sarzonian Under 21 national team, the name Rejistania has brought a series of bad memories. The team lost three straight matches against the Young Orange-Blues after splitting the first two matches against the team. However, the Junior Stars exorcised those demons of the past, defeating Rejistania 4-3 in penalties after extra time ended 1-1.

"We'll take the win," a jubilant Coach Cal Trottier said. "This is huge, beating the Evil Empire of football. We done shook up the world!"

Sarzonia ran into its usual nemesis, System Karela and its attempt to attack the infamous system backfired eight minutes in when goalkeeper Blaine Wilcox stumbled trying to stop a shot and forward Kadamy Kansu took advantage of the mistake, scoring to put the Young Orange-Blues ahead 1-0.

Instead of folding, the Junior Stars pressed the attack, finally getting a goal from midfielder Jenna Raven after she deftly faked past Vakana Seri and tapped the ball in to equalise the match in the 44th minute. Neither team could dent the other team's net for the next 75 minutes as the Junior Stars continued to press the attack and the Young Orange-Blues kept frustrating their best efforts.

With the match going to penalty kicks, Trottier replaced Wilcox with veteran Tom Beneditto with time winding down in extra time. The gamble paid off when Beneditto stoned Kiijail "Kiki" Kiminamasenelana on the second penalty kick attempt and Kansu shot high. Raven was the only Junior Star not to convert, and her miss came on the fourth shot for the Junior Stars. After Kansu shot wide on the Orange-Blues' fifth attempt, forward Dave Lord got Seri to guess right when he fired into the middle of the net, touching off a wild celebration that spilled into the stands.

Unfortunately, the scene turned ugly when angered Orange Blues supporters started a fight with Stars supporters. The only printable Rejistani word we understood from that whole exchange was "slani," which could have described their team's performance in the penalty shootout.

* Fmjphoenix (6) vs Vilita(5):
The Jungle Cats should win, but we aren't tipping this too confidently. Either way, Jeruselem don't have a good record against both teams.

---------------------Vilitan officials have pointed out to the Jeruselem Newswires that, while on paper, Vilita should win, in fact, should even make it consistently to at least the semi-finals of the competition, Vilitans can not perform in Total n Utter Insanity.

---------------------No Vilitan team has made it past the second round since the Vilitan Under 21's were crowned champions in the Seventh Under 21 World Championships.

---------------------7 Cups later, and not another Final, Nor Semi Final... In fact, Vilita has been knocked out, yet again, in the second round. Despite being ranked in the Top 6 for 10 consecutive cups, The Vilita Jungle Kitties will once again be sitting on the sidelines when the semi finals come around. It was not so much the defeat, but the magnitude of the defeat, 5-1 at the hands of a lesser opponent, that has raised questions on the ability of Baron O'Toole to juggle both the Under-21 Team and the Marine Coast United club team at the same time. Rumors have heard that Yeaddin Owls AFC head coach Trent Peak has already been offered the position, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

From the Sports section of The Daily NewSjwitz:

Sjwitz Squeeze Past Talzeckia

The Sjwitz national team has managed to steam into the quarter finals past Talzeckia after a tense game that was finished after 120 minutes. The scoreline after 90 minutes was 0-0 but then the referee gave Sjwitz a penalty for a foul on Bühr which captain Rover managed to kick in past the Talzeckian keeper. The Talzeckian squad was giving everything to equalise and managed to do so after 111 minutes. Great work by the Talzeckian forwards who managed to set up a great combination and in the end one of them put the ball past Van Ostaeyen. Both coaches were already thinking of their lineup for the penalty shootout when suddenly Stephenson gave a brilliant pass to ZiPeng who brilliantly lobbed the ball over the Talzeckian keeper in the 119th minute.

Kodiaks Loose Match, Qualification Due To Goals
Yesterday 0900 CST

Chicanada 2 Kazakhstania 4

All Chicanada had to do was score a lot. After Sjwitz dropped to Fmjphoenix all Chicanada needed to advance was a win, a tie, or a loss but score enough goals to move ahead of Sjwitz in Goals Scored. No, their win yesterday was irrelevant with a loss since CFF regulation (which uses record against opponent after Goal Differential) is different than the international set.

And even playing an excellent match yesterday the Kodiaks got smacked by #24 Kazakhstania 4-2 leaving the Kodiaks 2 goals behind Sjwitz (after tying at -3 goal differential) and out of the second round of the Under21 World Cup.

No comments were released by the CFF after the match but a press release was delived to the media announcing that longtime analysist Hobert Lovina has been fired due to jinxing the teams chances of qualifying based on comments from yesterday.

Most of the Kodiaks should return for u21 WC 14...whenever that is. We believe it's during NS WC 22 but it could be after this tournament for all we now. Anyways, they'll be there and ready to get screwed on goals yet again.

Kazakhstanian Team Happy

The Kazkahstanian team is out, but overall very gracious in their defeat. The coach, fo coruse, was throwing the chainging room chairs around when he heard of the goal difference rule which made his team come last, but beating Chicanada was good enough.

The strikers had been overall very good for the team that day, as had the goalkeeper.

The manager offered his best wishes to the Chicanada team, and wishes them luck in the future!

A win, which didn't exist

People were saying that there is a nation called South Osettia, but we never met anyone who is from South Osettia or visited this nation. We told people about this strange fact. Later we discovered that this was the first mistake: People arrived who claimed to have been there. Even some persons who had serious doubts belonged to them. These people had a strange expression in their face when talking about that.
When we were on the airport in KaMaRi kali all flights to South Osettia were cancelled, we knew that there were people having the same doubts as we do.

THEY already infiltrated the UN, which offered a factbook entry about it and includes it into its rankings, THEY also infiltrated the regional government of Atlantian Oceania, because the official maps state that a place called South Osettia exists in their region. Maybe the most powerful propaganda-strike was to bribe the WCC to accept a national team of brainwashed clones into the World Cup and the U21WC. The home matches take place in a yet undisclosed location. Their "home fans" are really robots THEY programmed.

THEY in the form of the South Osettian U21 team faced our Young Orange-Blues and for some strange reason, the Young Orange-Blues conceded once against the team, which normally does not progress past group stage. Ivelmore'he however prove his Belmorian class by scoring twice in the dieing minutes of the match - provided our opopnent existed and the match was not just and illusion.

A Third Semi in Three Cups
Can the Bronze Generation go further than ever before?

There's something to be said for playing a 3-3-4 formation with the cream of Druidan attacking talent. It can get you two goals against title-favourites Starblaydia. However, this formation certainly doesnt help when you are facing the cream of Starblaydi attacking talent.

Though Trevor Bent (of the Vics much-vaunted Youth Academy) and Dai Jones blasted goals past Angelos Prokopsis in the Starblaydi net, it wasn't much of a comfort for them as Starblaydia rampaged around the Druidan half in a free-flowing, 'total football' Bekkside Derby.

Tyree Vang was incandescent as he took control in front of the Druidan back-three and he earned himself the man-of-the-match and a brace of goals. Ever-present Zhorin Tumunzahar scored his eighth goal in just five games, extending his record as the Starblaydia Under-21s all-time top scorer.

Simeone Di Bradini's Managership certainly has its good points. He took a frankly rubbish Starblaydia squad to the Four Nations Invitational and won. Now he's taken one of the best Under-21 squads in the World to the Semi-Finals of the Under-21 World Cup. All he needs to do is win the Semi-Final to take his team further than they've ever gone before. Can his managerial magic touch do the business for Starblaydia? Find out soon.

Cat killers slay Jeruselem

No, FMPhoenix don't go around shooting cats. FMPhoenix had beated U21C7 champions Vilita in the 2nd round and added twice champions Jeruselem to their victim list. They won convincingly 3-0 and progressed into the semi final. Their opponent will be Sjwitz or Sarzonia.

While Jeruselem have the advantage over some teams when they play, some teams just get to our team. This includes FMPhoenix. Jeruselem have never beaten FMPhoenix in the U21 finals, and today they failed to make an impact on the nemesis team again. Jeruselem would have prefered Vilita who they have beated one or twice but once again the fire birds did them in.

Jeruselem are now putting their faith in Sarzonia to make the semi-final and hopefully beat FMPhoenix to make it to the final.

Crystils scrape into next round

The Crystils Under 21 slowly improved in their qualifying group, despite losing to regional rivals Starblaydia. Starblaydia are always a good opponent in the Under 21's though and Crystilakere had to focus on the games against Kylaai and the Funny Looking Islands. The first match was the one against the Funny Looking Islands, and Crystilakere came out with a draw. It was not the result the Crystils had hoped for, as Kylaai had earned a win over the same team and sat second in the standings. Crystilakere now had to beat Kylaai or face an early exit from the competitions. The Crystils had no intentions of going home and earned an exciting victory over Kylaai to advance to the next round where they will play Oaker.

Oaker going home in style

The Crystilakere Under-21's advanced to the Quarter Finals of the Under-21 World Cup after a stylish victory over Oaker. The team known as the Sharks is currently achieving success in the World Cup for the first time in a while, and their Under-21 team has also been performing on a higher level. But Crystilakere was not phased by this resurgance and easily came away with a 3-0 victory over another one of their rivals. Noel Adiguzel opened the scoring after 25 minutes with a brilliant volley from the edge of the box. Reidulf Piao made it 2-0 just before half time with a header off of a corner kick, and the match rounded off when world cup 19 hero Nina Nonaaia converted a penalty kick. Crystilakere will face Hiiraan in the next round and will give their best to get to the next round.

Back to the semis

The number 13 is considered unlucky throughout the world, except in Sarzonia. There, 13 has the same exalted position as the number 7 anywhere else in the world. Thus far, the Sarzonian Under 21 football team has lived up to that billing as they defeated world number 1 Rejistania to advance to face Sjwitz. They got Blaine Wilcox his first knockout stage win as he turned aside three shots en route to a 3-1 win to advance them to the semifinals against Fmjphoenix.

"The win against Rejistania was great, but we have to move on from there to get where we want to go," Coach Cal Trottier said. "This is a great example of what this football team can do."

The Junior Stars started the match sluggishly at first, conceding a sixth minute goal that had Trottier befuddled and saw Wilcox screaming at his defence to "snap the [expletive] out of it!" The defence heeded their young netminder and held Sjwitz to two shots on goal the rest of the match. The Junior Stars fired 18 shots, including nine on goal.

"We've got to play the Junior Vikings next and that's no easy task," midfielder Jenna Raven said. "The tournament ain't over until Margaret stops singing."

While in the bottom half, new favourites Starblaydia will face the winner of Hiiraan and Crystilakere, either of which appears to be a good prospect. Hiirraan have been beaten by Starblaydia in the last three Under-21 meetings between the two sides, while Starblaydia thrashed Crystilakere 5-0 earlier in this tournament. In the event, Crystilakere proved they were good enough to Upset Hiiraan, but, going just on recent results, all the signs point to Starblaydia as odds-on favourites for the title.

Crystils down Hiiraan, face Starblaydia

The Crystilakere Crystils needed extra time to get rid of Hiiraan, but Reidulf Piao got the job done and sent the Under-21 Crystils to their second Under-21 Semi Final. Crystilakere will now be faced up once again with Starblaydia, who they got crushed by in the group stage 5-0. The Crystils have been in great form, improving every game since the Starblaydia defeat and will certainly like their chances in what should be a very exciting semi-final match. Neither team has reached the Under-21 final before but both have experience in the third place playoff. It will be one heck of a game with both teams fighting for their first appearance in the final.

Dogbe Surprise Choice to coach Under 21's

----------------Former Vilitan National Team Winger Christian Dogbe has been named a shock replacement for Baron O'Toole as the head coach of the Vilitan Under-21 program as the team attempts to turn around and build up for the 14th World Cup Under 21 Championships. O'Toole was relieved of his position after failing for a 7th consecutive cup to reach the semi-final stage in the competition. Dogbe is also the manager of Vilitan Stellar Division side Arcticala Inlet, a job which he received after Inlet scraped off relegation in Vilitan Season 6. In season 7, Dogbe's first in charge, A fresh look Arcticala Inlet finished 3rd in the table with a team record 50 points. Dogbe has been one of the most resepected managers in the game since then, is a Five-Time Manager of the Year Runner Up. Dogbe has led Arcticala Inlet to 3 consecutive Vilitan Cup titles, and once again broke a team point record, achieving 57 points in finishing second in the Stellar Division in Season 14. It is reported that Dogbe received the job after first-choice coach, Yeaddin Owls Kenter Surf, turned down the position to focus on keeping his club team atop the Vilitan League Hierarchy.

Fans Split on Who to Support

----------------With all four remaining teams in the World Cup Under 21 Championships originating from the Atlantian Oceania region, Vilitans are split on who to support for the title. Fierce rivalries have existed over the seasons with Crystilakere and Starblaydia, who will be up against each other in one semi-final, while a peaceful but questionable relationship has taken shape with Sarzonia. This would make it seem like the clear favorite among Vilitan's would be Fmjphoenix, after an amicable history between the nations, with the exception of the small matter that it was a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Fmjphoenix that sent Vilita home early yet again.

----------------As of the most recent polls, 30% of Vilitans were supporting a Sarzonian victory, 28% were backing Fmjphoenix while rivals Starblaydia and Crystilakere held 20% support each, with 2% of polled voters hoping that catostrophic events, such as a plague, would wipe out Total n Utter Insanity and all the teams still there.

Atlantian Oceania Dominates Last Four
Four AO Teams fight for 13th Under-21 title

Starblaydia (2), Fmjphoenix (6), Sarzonia (9) and Crystilakere (16) make up the Semi-Finals of the Thirteenth Under-21 World Cup, ensuring that Atlantian Oceania will take spots First through Fourth at these Championships. We examine the honours these teams have won at this level.

Sarzonia have seen success as Runners-Up and 3rd Place before now.
Fmjphoenix were once placed second and have also been beaten into fourth by Starblaydia.
Crystilakere, although fomer-World Champions, have never won major honours in the Under-21s
Starblaydia have had their much-publicised four 3rd-Place positions, two coming in the previous two tournaments.

Going just on previous records, Starblaydia edging out Sarzonia in the Final would seem to be the bookies' favourite. This is dependant, of course, on Starblaydia defeating Crystilakere again while Sarzonia may actually be seen as the underdogs against the Junior Vikings.

Whatever happens over the remaining matches in this Championship, one thing is certain; Atlantian Oceania will be top of the tree.

All AO Final Four presents different challenges

With the Sarzonian Under 21 national football team getting ready to face Fmjphoenix in one semifinal of World Cup XIII, the Junior Stars may be spending less time looking at tapes than usual. As has been well-documented by several international media outlets, all four teams in the semifinal round hail from the Atlantian Oceania region.

"That will bring an interesting element to these matches," Coach Cal Trottier said. "Usually, football matches in the knockout stages are very intense under normal circumstances, but when you add a regional rivalry into the mix, things can get even more compelling."

While the Junior Stars have limited experience with the Junior Vikings of Fmjphoenix, the combatants in the other semifinal are very familiar to the Junior Stars. Southern neighbours Crystilakere have only faced the Stars a handful of times in Under 21 play, but have developed a long history against each other that dated from the first-ever football match played by a Sarzonian team. Meanwhile, the Junior Stars have faced Starblaydia several times, both at the senior level and in the Under 21 World Cup.

So who the Junior Stars want to win the other semifinal? Don't ask them.

"We have to focus on one game at a time, man," midfielder Jarret Sanderson said. "We can't start scoreboard watching while we have a critical football match against the Junior Vikings. We'll get blown out of the stadium if we start doing that."

"I don't care who wins that match," forward Dave Lord said. "All I care about right now is beating Fmjphoenix. Whatever else happens will happen."

The team has taken on the personality of Trottier, who espouses a defence-first style, though with defender Alain Beaumont set to become ineligible due to age, Trottier will have to start evaluating new talent. He said the future for the Junior Stars may be a more attacking style of play.

"The new crop of players looks more creative than any I've seen since I started working with the national team," Trottier said. "I'm not so inflexible with my system that I won't be able to adjust to the talents of the players. That's the mark of a bad coach."

While some supporters and media are looking to the distant future, most of the Junior Stars have their eyes set firmly on the more immediate future.

"The future is now," Sanderson said.

Junior Vikings dominate over Vilita and Jeruselam en route to semi-finals against Sarzonia

With victories of 5-1 and 3-0 over Vilita and Jeruselam, the Junior Vikings are looking like they are on the verge of their second berth into the Under 21 World Cup Finals. The Junior Vikings have been nothing short of amazing, as they have scored a total of 24 goals while only allowing 8 past. 4.8 goals for with 1.6 against is something along the lines of Rejistanian stats. What has it been that has lead to the sudden surge of excellence? The first is the improvement of Franklin Cabrillo. He has been supurb this Cup, especially with the All Out Attack formation that the Junior Vikings took on. This leads to believe that he will be a strong goalkeeper for the senior squad for many years to come. Also the speed of the development of Dave Daniels has been outstanding. He has worked his way up to being the number one prospect of Fmjphoenix Footballing.

With a matchup against Sarzonia waiting, they are going to have to be prepared for a touch matchup. It will be up to the outstanding front four of Daniels, Arien Vogel, Bruce Chen, and the first girl on in international football, Shelly Berry, who was rumored to be dating Vikings Star Mike Nolan. These four, plus the superior goalkeeping from Carbillo are going to have to continue for the Junior Vikings to reach the finals for the second time.

~ Tough lessons learned for the U21 Team ~

MD3 - Draw
Hiiraan v. Gaian Ascendancy (4 - 4)
U21WC13 Round Two - Loss
Druida v. Gaian Ascendancy (5 - 2)

GANN Sports Desk: ~ A draw on match day three to Hiraan gave the U21 team the suprising bid to the U21 World Cup 13 itself, where they drew a seed against Druida in the second round.

The Soft Wing's defense still is too nascent, with only four matches played overall, and they lost to another drubbing, with a 5 - 2 score to Druida.

After the match, the team Coach Ni Morisato spoke about the inital showing of his team in the tourney.

"It could have been longer. But we feel the experience will be the same for our kinseths, the way it has been for the national team. We wish the rest of the teams well, like we always do.

As for us, we're going to tour the Republic worlds and arrange friendlies for the next few months. With over three hundred worlds in the Republic now, there's plenty of new blood out there to draw from, and to play matches with." ..Morisato put with a satisfied grin.

News also came in that the U21 squad has been placed unofficially in a 13th seed slot for the U21WC14 Cup down the road in the near future. This was recieved with decent approval by the team staff, proving to the players what hard work and team spirit can accomplish.

Also, word is, several players in a few months time will be able to test out for the national team, and that Forward Robert Snuka will take up the second Forward backup slot for the national team.

Meanwhile, attention begins to shift again to the national team, as they have also been playing friendlies throughout the Republic, primarily against estabished Core Worlds League teams, in preparation for the next Cup trials.

I don't see what your problem is. It says on IRC, the first thing in the topic, how far along U21 is. You know it starts in between World Cup Qualifying and the Finals or vice versa. Do you need a personal TG? It's not as if you have missed out, all your RPs would still count for the next cup.

Semi-Final Curse lifted!
SDB Leads U21s to Final at First Attempt

Starblaydia's Bronze Generation is no more. Comprising essentially the same team that won the Third-Placed Play-off two years ago, as well as the plucky 15, 16 and 17 year-olds of the Third-Placed Winners two years before that, Starblaydia are in their first Under-21 Championship Match.

Though it should be noted that Simeone Di Bradini had already inherited a squad of potential World Champions, his first major act has been to dispell the jinx of Starblaydia choking in four Semi-Finals. Though it took the kind of event that makes coaches on both sides tear their hair out, Starblaydia defeated Crystilakere by a single goal in the last minute of injury time with the last kick of the game. Typical. For the full story, we hand you over to Sven Motsonsson, Starblaydia's foremost commentator.

"Oh, that's a foul by Siboldi, he's protesting to the referee but to no avail. Starblaydia have a free-kick deep, deep into injury time at the end of this second half. Injury-time beckons unless, unless Trevor, Starblaydia can score here.

"The Crystilakere fans are whistling like crazy at the referee, hoping to end the game before Starblaydia take this kick, but it's not going to happen, there's time for just one more shot, and that's it. But look! Here comes Corominas, up from the back. The sixteen year-old came on as a substitute after Prokopsis took a blow to the head, and he's sprinting the seventy-eighty yards up to the other end!

"And... he's waving everyone else away from the bal!. Crystilakere have three men on the line, plus the goalie, a wall of five men and two others in the box. There is not a single Crystilakere player outisde their own penalty area, and the there is only one Starblaydi in his own half, which is Garth Terrenson, who obviously has more sense than Corominas.

"Here comes the goalie with the free kick, right side, twenty-three yards out. Left-footed Corominas comes up, one hit for gloryyy... Glory! Corominas has won it for Starblaydia! They're going to the final thanks to the last-minute left boot of Corominas! Oh, will you look at that!

"It went over the wall, between two player's heads, came back down and went in off the underside of the bar, past the fingertips of the goalie and the head of the defender on the line, incredible! And look, he's buried under that pile of players and staff, the referee has ended the game but nobody can hear the whistle above the noise. Starblaydia are into the Under-Twenty-one World Cup Final."

AG: Anna Goldstein

AG: Welcome to Jeruselem Sports News, I'm Anna Goldstein and our local expert soccer commentator David Becks is with us
DB: Good morning folks!
AG: Let's review the quarter final results of the U21 Championships 13.
DB: Well, the main game Jeruselem vs Fmjphoenix. We lost 3-0, and drop out in the quarter finals again. Last year we did the same.
AG: Surprised?
DB: FMPhoenix beat us last time in a quarter final and they did it again. Jeruselem didn't play badly really, as them fire birds did trash the Jungle Cats or Vilita 5-1.
AG: And it was the 13th championship, but the quarter finals aren't too bad.
DB: It's tough in the U21 and even top seeds fail.

AG: Sarzonia beat Sjwitz 3-1
DB: Sarzonia since their loss to us, have just been great. Sjwitz aren't the best team around but it's good for them to be in the quarters. They will improve
AG: The Starz to make the final this year?
DB: Hard to tell, but FMPhoenix are looking really good this tournament. It's a tough call about that semi.

AG: Crystilakere beat Hiiraan 1-0 in over-time. Surprised?
DB: Yes, Hiiraan were looking good and Crystilakere did scrape into 2nd round. However, the Crystils always do this and all you need to is win.

AG: Starblaydia vs Druida. 2nd vs 3rd.
DB: This was the game of the quarters. Starblaydia won 3-2 but the now former-champs did play very well. Starblaydia played better and I really like them.

AG: In summary, what is your opinion of the semis.
DB: Sarzonia to overcome FMPhoenix and Starblaydia to trash the Crystils. Starblaydia have the firepower and Sarzonia's defense has been great.

AG: You mean Sarzonia and Starblaydia final?
DB: Yes, the two Starz. It's a pity the Star Children team, Jeruselem isn't in the semis but that's life.
AG: Picking the winner?
DB: Well, predictions are wrong or right. I'm not perfect witht hese things so I'll wait when semis are done.

AG: We now move programming to Inquisition Jerusalem, good night everyone and God bless.

From the Sports section of The Daily NewSjwitz:

Gaining Valuable Experience

A great tournament from Sjwitz has won them the 8th place. Although most people were hoping for a semi-final berth after it turned out that not Rejistania but Sarzonia were going to be the opponents in the quarters. But Sarzonia sure proved why they were better as they managed to win by a comfortable 3-1, with Smit scoring the goal for Sjwitz to save the honour in the 88th minute. After that the team had used up most of its power, mentally and physically and it showed in their next two playoff games for 5th-8th position and 7th-8th position. Both were lost, respectively 1-2 to Jeruselem and 2-5 to Hiiraan. Overall however, the 8th place is a great result for Sjwitz u21 football. It is now to wonder how Sjwitz will defend it's status as seeded team knowing that a lot of players have become too old for the team, amongst those captain Steven Rover.

Junior Vikings streak past Junior Stars, remain unbeaten heading into finals

Dave Daniels is showing fans why he is being called the future of the Vikings. Daniels scored 2 goals and made 2 great defensive stops alone in the final 5 minutes to secure the Junior Vikings their second trip to the Under 21 World Cup Finals as Fmjphoenix went on to defeat Sarzonia 3-1 in semi-finals action.

The Junior Stars were the ones to strike first, as Jenna Raven showed flashes of greatness, beating out Charlie Hulo for shot alone against Franklin Cabrillo. Skipping around left and right, she had Cabrillo off balance when she fired a shot that barely got past for the first goal at the 12th minute. Dave Daniels provided an equalizer 10 minutes later with a header that sailed past two defenders before it went through the hands of Tom Beneditto. The goalscoring would be done for the first half, but Daniels single handedly stopped a rush by Roy Spencer. He was all alone and Daniels was trying to catch up to him, and boy did he. In a blaze of speed that was not seen before, Daniels slide underneath the foot of Spencer to lob the ball right into Cabrillo's hands, make sure that there would be no shot taken.

The second half started up with an all out attack that ended with Shelly Berry scoring her only goal of the match, and providing the Junior Vikings with their first lead in the match. She recieved a pass from Viera Primo that was nearly hit back by Alain Beaumont. But he missed and Berry put one through to pull ahead 2-1 at the 54th minute. But the scoring would not be done, as Daniels had another treat in store for the Junior Stars. After a clearence by Cabrillo, the ball was passed up from Miguel Martinez to Juan Espinoza. He was challenged by Roy Tinsley, but beat him out. He had a clear shot, but instead of shooting, Espinoza passed to Daniels, who was 10 feet closer and he put the ball in past for their third goal of the match. The second half would end much like the first half did, as Spencer again was meet by Daniels in a mano y mano situation. Unlike the first one, Daniels was in front of Spencer, and his fake out did not work on Daniels, as he slid and kicked the ball to Arien Vogel with pinpoint accuracy. The match ended 3-1 with the Junior Vikings pulling an amazing win over favored team. Daniels was awarded man of the match for the first time, but it is not expected to be the last.

The other semi-finals match saw Starblaydia pitted against Crystilakere. Starblaydia narrowly defeated the Crystilakere U21's with a goal from substitute Corominas. Now that the Junior Vikings know what lies in store for them, they will be woring hard to prepare for their toughest matchup this cup. Look for a tough match as the Junior Vikings have shown great offense and defense this cup with 27 goals for with only 9 goals against. Look forward to a thriller when these two teams meet up.

Gold Denied!
FMJ get revenge big-style

For the last two Championships, Starblaydia have beaten the Junior Vikings on their way to third place near-glory in the tournament. This time Starblaydia and Fmjphoenix faced off in the final itself, both hoping to win the ultimate Under-21 prize.

Starblaydia's 'Bronze Generation' lined up for their final attempt to prove they were better than their reputation. Gold or Silver they would take this evening. Sven Motsonsson, as always, takes up the commentary in perhaps Starblaydia's most important game in their history.

0 Minutes:
"Here we go, then, the Final of the Thirteenth Under-Twenty-One World Cup is under way. Fmjphoeinx's 'Junior Vikings' have kicked off and are going from left to right in green-and-blue. Starblaydia declined the oppurtunity to wear their Bronze-coloured Away kits and instead are wearing their traditional white-and-purple. The teams line up as follows:"

Starblaydia

Fuinbar
Gre
Terrenson
Steliopolous

Ogunniya (C)
de Montford
Vang

Sodek
Tumunzahar

Fmjphoenix

4 Minutes:
"de Montford is out wide, lovely piece of skill gets him past the defender, to the corner flag. He's nowhere to go, Steliopolous in support. Lovely piece of skill! He back-heeled it through the defenders legs... Steliopolous with the cross. Sodek! Oh! He's hit the crossbar and it cannons back out of reach. So close their for Starblaydia."

23 Minutes:
"Ogunniya, the Captain, in the middle, laying it out wide to Santiago. He's spotted Vang's run - great ball! Vang rides the challenge, into the area, to the line, pulled back... Tumunzahar! It's a Goal! Starblaydia take the lead and its their eight - no, now he's a nine-goal scoring hero in this cup, eighteen goals overall for the under-21s, extending his own record. Brilliant!"

38 Minutes:
"And here comes Shelly Berry, on another rampaging run, he's skipped past Ogunniya, Gre can't get there, Fuinbar held him back! Free-kick. And a yellow card for Jikiri Fuinbar,. Arien Vogel lines up the angle, oh, deflected and... in! The equaliser for the Junior Vikings! It came off the wall and wrong-footed Angelos Prokopsis in the Starblaydi net! One-All!"

45 Minutes:
"Half-time in this final, and its been a good match so far and the score is One-All. Trevor, what do you think will happen as this match progresses..."

47 Minutes:
"Early chance here, for Fmjphoenix as they break quickly, the crowd cheer them on, its three-on-three here, Arien Vogel shoots! Just over from Vogel! Wait, it's a corner, Prokopsis got a touch, a brilliant save he somehow got his fingers to.

"Well-claimed corner by Prokopsis, that corner was fed into the danger zone, but Prokopsis came out and caught it well."

90 Minutes:
"There it is, the ninety minutes are over, and at One-One, Starblaydia and Fmjphoenix go to extra time. Its been a great match so far, and we look forward to extra time."

116 Minutes:
"Long, long ball by Ogunniya, Simeone Di Bradini has thrown on the attack-minded players here. Sodek flicks it on, Tumunzahar unmarked, it's in! No! Nunzio Gre's pulled up for a foul on the 'keeper! He's received a yellow card.

"Oh, just look at that replay, Trevor, Gre's wrapped his arm around the 'keeper and span him round, making him unable to get to Tumunzahar's header. Though he might not even have reached it. One-All, still, with just four minutes left."

120 Minutes:
"It's ended with goalless extra time here in Total n Utter Insanity, and so the dreaded penalties kick in. Trevor, Starblaydia have already won a penalty shoot-out in these Championships so that should put them in a good frame of mind for these."

Vilita tie Starblaydia, still Second Best in AO

--------------------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties Tied Starblaydia, and Sarzonia for that matter, as the second best youth teams in Atlantian Oceania. All these teams were knocked out by the same opponent, FMJPhoenix, who knocked off some of the best youth teams in the world on course to their first youth championship in a thriller of a final, which saw a penalty shootout decision go their way. We are still awaiting the result of the Sarzonia-Crystilakere matchup, which could put a kink in our whole tied for second best thing. If Sarzonia beat Crystilakere, then everything is fine and Crystilakere's youth are seeded behind these three. However, if Crystilakere won, they would be better than Sarzonia, and worse than Starblaydia who they lost to in the semi final, so yea, that could get messy ugly and downright needing a shower. Something smells in here, i think it's beefaroni by Chef Boyardee.

Dogbe warns of Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/34936/page=display_nation/nation=vilita) Threat
Vilita Jungle Kitties (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/34936/page=display_nation/nation=vilita) Coach Christian Dogbe today spoke at a press conference outside the capital city of Alikki-Corra.

Taking questions from the media, questioning the teams chances for a return to the glory that they have in the past achieved in the Under-21's, Dogbe said:

"I feel we have a better chance at Winning this thing than most nations. No one will be taking us seriously, as we haven't even made it out of the second round any time in any recent cups. They might be aware, however, that we have some of the best facilities money can buy right here in Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/34936/page=display_nation/nation=vilita). We have a huge array of talent in the side, most likely due to the government ban on Baseball, all these kids grew up with the ball at their feet. We are as prepared as we will ever be, and I feel you soon will see that Vilita (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/34936/page=display_nation/nation=vilita) is for real in the Under 21 World Cup 14 Championships."

The Atlantian Leader picked up his paper, and began laughing histerically.

"What is this jive" the man so quickly exclaimed, "These slani Vilitan's actually think that that pesky little youth program they've got going actually has a chance of beating top quality programs like those in Rejistania and Starblaydia, and the defending champs from FMJPhoenix that rocked them 5-1, what are they mad"

The Atlantian Leader called to his servant, who brought him some more coffee after he spilled his during his exuberating laughter.

"So what do you say, Amfali, you think the Vilitan's have a chance in this Under-21 thing next time around?"

The Young Servant looked terrified at being spoken to, but responded "No sir, of course not."

"Ah how right you are" The Atlantian Leader proclaimed. "And you know what, I bet you, we could sit right here right now, send a team full of servants, and do better even than those Vilitans."

Amfali again froze, realizing the Atlantian Leader was expecting a response. Thinking of nothing else to say, Amfali cautiously muttered something unintelligable.

"What was that you say?" The Atlantian Leader questioned.

"Well sir, you're going to need somewhere to train, aren't you, if you make a team that is, they will, theres no where here."

The Atlantian Leader sensed the tone in Amfali's voice. "You want to play soccer don't you boy. Why have you never spoken up before! You know what, just for you servant, just for you, I will go out and buy one of the nicest soccer academys in the world, send you and some of your servant friends there and you boys can play soccer. And you know what, I'll even enter you guys in that oddball Under-21 World Cup thing, just so you can make me proud and show up those Vilitans. How's that sound boy?"

"That would be amazing sir!" Amfali proclaimed. "In fact, it would be brilliant!" Amfali spilled the coffee. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry sir, I'll go get you another."

"Don't worry boy, you're a soccer player now, I'll get my own coffee." The Atlantian Leader walked out of the room as Amfali stood with a gleaming smile accross his face.

Christian Dogbe sat in his brand new office at the Vilitan Headquarters, after throwing out the last of the artifacts left behind by former coach Baron O'Toole.

"So what is this now, a challenge by those damn Atlantians?"

Dogbe began speaking aloud, although he was alone in the room.

"Where are they going to find a pre-established soccer acadamy, theres no chance. They certainly can't build one from the ground up, the only way they could be ready is if they used someone elses. Well they certainly aren't using ours."

The sometimes forgetful Dogbe jotted down on a small memo pad a reminder not to allow the Atlantians to use his training facilities. He then started doodling around the note, but stopped when he realized he was drawing hearts.

"Hah. Who do they think they are. No one can come in as an unknown team in the Under-21 World Cup and upset the top teams in the game, even if they get a head start by assuming someone elses facilities, they haven't got a shot... it just can't be done."

Dogbe got up, and left his office. He began walking around the halls at the Under-21 headquarters. He stopped at the trophy case, and began thinking about what it would be like adding the Under 21 World Cup 14 Trophy into that case.

"Yea, it will be perfect. Winning the 7th cup, and then the 14th, it would be perfect. Of course theres this little one down here, whats this one say. Oh look, it's got a story to it. Under 21 World Cup III Runners Up. Hey thats pretty neat, lets see what it says." Dogbe began reading the plate next to the trophy. "Unranked and virtually unknown, the little tiny Tropics of Vilita upset the world and the top ranked teams of Rejistania, Kingsford, Tana..." Dogbe stopped reading.

"Crap."

The Atlantian Leader sat down at his desk, phone at hand.

"Now, who can I call. Who could possibly have an old Youth training facility that they don't need anymore." The Atlantian Leader thought some more. "Well, Those Cockbill Street teams are always horrible. Why do they need a youth training facility? No matter how hard they try, they're never going to accomplish a damn thing, let me give them a call."

The Atlantian Leader got ahold of the list of representatives for each country and their respective youth departments, and looked up Cockbill Street on the list.

"Alright, well we've got James Underwood and Ivar Goldlover. Well this Goldlover guy is from the Department of Sports, I guess I'll try giving him a call." The Atlantian Leader looked for a phone number next to the name, but could find nothing. "Hmmm thats odd, everyone else has a phone number listed, except Goldlover and Underwood. How the hell am I supposed to contact these guys. Oh well, sucks for them. Years of future misery in underachieving sports could have been avoided, and they could have had enough money to advance 3000 years in technology by... well... tomorrow. But I can't be arsed to chase these people down. I want to settle this right now. Lets see who else is on this list."

Looking back down at the list, The Atlantian Leader that the Nation of Audioslavia was listed amongst the past champions, and even had a contact number, but no representative was listed.

"Well thats funny, A past champion that doesn't even enter a team anymore? Surely their facilities would be available, this would be perfect." The Atlantian Leader proceeded to dial the number. It rang about 6 times before finally a response at the other end. Excited that this could be the breakthrough he was looking for, the Atlantian Leader inquired "Hello! Is this the representative from Audioslavia? I was interested in acquiring you're former yo..."

But the person on the other end interuppted. "This is Jeremy Jaffacake and I don't know who the hell you are or how you got my fricking number but I suggest you just frick off and let me fricking go the frick to sleep. G'nite Bitch."

The Atlantian Leader was absolutely appalled as the user on the other end hung up. "What the hell is a Jaffacake anyway, some rip off of Coffee Cake?" The Leader paused. "Speaking of which, I think I'll go have some Coffee Cake." He put down the phone and walked out of the room to get his cake.

"Now that's what I call a coffee cake. Who made this?" The Atlantian Leader looked at his new friend Amfali.

Amfali, not so hesitant to respond anymore, quickly chimed in. "I'm nor sure sir, I don't do any of the cooking, but If you like I could find out for you."

"No, no my boy, it will be fine, I don't need to know who makes them, just be sure that they keep doing it, will you?" Tha Atlantian Leader chuckled.

"But of course sir!" Anfali bent over to pick up the Leaders knife which he had dropped on the floor, and proceeded to wash it and present him with a new one. His comfort turned to nervousness as he considered asking about the soccer facilities. He decided he'd have a go at it, and asked. "So, any luck finding somewhere for us to play our soccer, sir?"

A relieved look came accross Amfali's face when the Leader responded amicably to his inquiry. "Not yet my boy, but don't you worry. By tomorrow I'll have you with a soccer ball at your feet, I promise." The Atlantian Leader noticed Amfali still standing there. "Well, right, I figured I'd try Cockbill Street, but I couldn't find a number. And those Audioslavian's were just plain rude, I don't want you boys going over there, it could be trouble. I'll have to take another look over the list of facilities."

Amfali was encouraged by the continuing intrest shown by the leader in his cause. "Well Sir, have you tried the Turori Youth Acadamy? I've heard it's very nice but the Turorian's are getting very mad because no one wants to use it and they couldn't even field a full team for the last Under 21 cup, did you know this sir? Also, I think it would be nice also to be somewhere you know, some of us have family ties there, not that... well, we have anything to do with them, of course."

The Atlantian Leader patted Amfali on the back. "Don't worry young boy, if It's the Turori Youth Academy that you want to train at, then I shall get it for you. We'll just have to do something about that awful name." The leader smiled, and walked out of the room.

Christian Dogbe went accross to the other side of the complex, and knocked on the door of director of organized activity, and former Vilitan goalkeeper Rory Issah. Dogbe entered the room, flustered, and began speaking.

"Rory Rory Rory, what I am to do now? Is it true? Have you heard that the Atlantians are trying to enter the next cup? I thought for sure that we wouldn't have to deal with them, ever. When I took this job, you told me I had nothing to worry about, the lads were good enough to do all the work for me, I just had to wander around the office and pretend to be busy. Well now what am I supposed to do! I don't know what to do."

Issah Let out a chuckle, then arose from his desk.

"Christian, calm down. You're getting yourself all worked up over nothing. Yes, They have potential, and yes, maybe one day we will have to worry about them, but it is not today. They don't even have a team yet. They haven't been training together, and they will never have the same background experience as us. Come back to me after they've made it out of the group stage, and maybe then we'll start considering them a threat, until then, heres a ture, go get yourself a candy bar and relax, I think they are showing the EL CID THE HERO match again later on VTV, why don't you try and do a little bit of scouting on the players, give me a report on what you think Vilkauos did right, and what he did wrong in that match, how's that sound?."

Dogbe turned and began to leave the room.

"Thanks, Rory, you're a true pal."

Junior Vikings place name in history and joins elite group with thrilling match against Starblaydia

It took 20 years for the Junior Vikings to return to the big stage in the Under 21 World Cup. The wait was well worth it. In a thriller of a match against Starblaydia that saw nearly everything and then some, the Junior Vikings pulled off and ended the amazing winning streak with the biggest win of them all, the gold, as the Junior Vikings drew with Starblaydia, but won on penelty shots 4-3. Not only did it see the Junior Vikings winning the championship for the first time, it gave them a win over the team that has denied them advancement for the past two tournaments.

The match started up with Starblaydia lined up in their white and purple and Fmjphoenix in their green and blue. Starblaydia came close to a strike in the 4th minute with when de Montford back heeled the ball right through Ryan Freemont's legs to Steliopolous who crossed to Sodek but the shot was high and hit the crossbar and bounced off back to Charlie Hulo. The Junior Vikings advanced forward, but Juan Espinoza was beaten on a challenge by Starblaydia captian Ogunniya. Starblaydia was on the attack. Ogunniya passed up to a streaking Vang, who stopped pulled up and hit Tumunzahar with a pass. Tumunzahar shoots and scores the first goal of the match giving Starblaydia the lead at the 23rd minute. But that lead did not hold to long. 15 minutes later came the equalizer on a Arien Vogel shot after a penelty. This left the teams at one all at the end of the first half. Barely one half and the match has already lived up to the hype.

The second half opened up an early chance for the Junior Vikings as Vogel was flanked by Berry and Dave Daniels. Vogel dropped the ball back to Daniels, who passed back up Vogel who shot but it was barely saved it with a tip over the net. The following corner was cleared again by Prokopsis and it was off. The teams would continute back and forth, but at the end of time stoppage, the score was still one all. It was time for extra time. A long lob by Ogunniya was recovered by Sodek who passed to an unmarked Tumunzahar and scored. But did he? Nunzio Gre was handed a yellow card for twisting Franklin Carbrillo and spinning him out of the way. There were only four minutes left, and Dave Daniels had a chance to seal the match. Unfortunetly, his shot was wide left and at final time it was still 1-1. The match was taken into penelty shots. First up was Tumunzahar, who hit gold, 1-0. Arien Vogel next, shot, score, 1-1. Sodek up, caught by Cabrillo. Bruce Chen fires, goal 2-1. Aguilera up, deflection left. Daniels up, fired home 3-1! Junior Vikings looking solid. Ogunniya steps up, its past 3-2. Berry comes in with a chance to seal it now, she is wide left. Steliopolous comes up, Cabrillo trips, its tied 3-3. Its was all left to Juan Espinoza. He comes up, goes left, goes right, back left, he shots and scored. Fmjphoenix takes it 4-3 on penelties.

After Espinoza made the shot, the crowd erupted. Fans raced down onto the field. It would be a long night of celebration for Fmjphoenix. They came into the tournament with a new style, and left with a new result. The team will be changing a little bit as a few of the players are going to become to old to play, but the team core is expected to be the same. See you next cup when the Junior Vikings look to defend their title.

Crystils one up rivals for third

The Crystilakere Crystils Under-21 team could not keep their magical run going against regional natives Starblaydia who went on to be defeated on penalty kicks to another regionmate Fmjphoenix in the championship match. While that exciting match was going on a fierce battle took place between two long time rivals, yet another inter-region matchup between the Young Crystils and Sarzonia. If you thought the final was exciting, just have a look at this match, with Crystilakere taking the early one goal lead, before Sarzonia fought back to lead 2-1 at half time. The Crystils tied the game at 2 after an hour of play, and the final half hour was a dog fight to be remember for years and years to come. Eventually, Crystilakere came out on top once again over their Sarzonian rivals thanks to an 88th minute goal from Noel Adiguziel. Crystilakere leads the all-time rivalry between the teams, although this could be one of the most memorable matchups between the two nations in recent history.

Jeruselem coach happy despite quarterfinal loss

Jeruselem coach Mimi Goldstein said the U21 Championships 13 were not a dead loss. Despite being knocked out by eventual champions FMJPhoenix in the quarter finals, he was quite happy with the young team.

"We lost one game to the champions but won the next two place deciders. We wish the game we lost was the final, but that's all history. Overall, it was our best championship apart from the last three finals appearances in the past. Our youth system is paying off and we can't expect us to win championship 13 as we are religious nation" he said.

The Jeruselem FA president said "It's all good ..." at the bar.
