and the very random and suicidal [unless you have a high rank]

These styles effect how many goals are scored in the match, the more defensive the two teams the lower the goals and vice versa. Of course Rank plays an important role here.

Any questions can be posted here, as well as suggestions and comments. I'd like to improve the cup and what better way than asking the players for their ideas.

You know, you have a tendency to get drawn into groups with me. It might be slightly detrimental to your team's success in upcoming tournaments if we should happen to lose that match after that statement. Which basically means you're wedged firmly between a rock and a hard place. Might be best to stay neutral on this one. ;)

So, you've finally decided to grace U21 with your presence again. I remember the days when you were unbeatable...and I was just total pants at everything...now I'm just total pants at most things. :)

I thought I was ranked. I advanced in U21WC13 to first round before getting knocked out easily by some good team.

I think your RPs got minus bonus. That'd explain things.

Just stay out of OOC as much as possible. Or if you have to ooc, put it at the end of an rp or something so it does not just take up room. I think that would work best.

Or if you want to post a table thats already been posted as an RP...don't. I mean I let you off on the first two and then you go and do the giant shouting thing.

Well, its run by Total n Utter Insanity. He using a device called a scorinator to calculate your scores based off of rank/RP/luck. You roleplay your team with roster/news about it/ general information. Take the scores and turn it into something creative to read and there ya go.

Thats the most simple way to put it I think. Someone else might go into more elaborate details.

Indeed it does. With TnUI's ranking system, RP counts a *huge* amount toward ranking, and you probably did a reasonably good amount of it (I haven't seen the U21WC13 thread, so I can't really say).

I was wondering how many World Cups we would have to have been in to host a world cup? And does it have to be in doubles?

Well, to host a World Cup you need to make friends with most of #sport. Be around for a few Cups and be lucky enough to be up against LE or TBF bidding. U21 has me as a permahost till I either go dual host with another nation of my choosing or pass the mantle onto someone else...and the spreadsheets.

Starblaydia's In-Progress Under-21 World Cup FAQ

What it is:
The Under-21 World Cup (U21WC) (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Under-21_World_Cup), run by Total n Utter Insanity (TnUI), is for the younger Football (or 'Soccer') players of nations and uses its own ranking system. It is a good place to create and mould your World Cup players for the future, plus it's fun as scorelines can get quite high. The U21WC is seperate from the 'official' World Cup and does not count towards KPB Rankings (any more) as it is considered unfair for Networms with too much time on their hands to gain a substantial advantage over those who enter only the World Cups. Thirty-Two nations send their youngsters to TnUI every two years (going by the accepted norm that World Cups happen every 4 years, as in real life) to compete for glory.

In the grand scheme of the Nationstates World Cup the U21WCs start at the end of the WC Qualifiers and again at the end of the WC Finals, giving two U21WCs for every WC.

How it Works:
The thirty-two teams are divided into 8 Groups of 4, designated A-H. Each of the top Eight seeds are 'given' their own group, so the best teams are not able to knock each other out at the Group Stage. In this Group Stage, each team plays the other three teams in their group once, and the top-two go on to the Second Round where it becomes a straight 16-team knockout competition. Not only are the 1st and 2nd placed teams decided in the Final, but Third- Fifth- and Seventh-Placed Play-off Matches also occur.

Styles of Play:
The U21WC is almost unique in Sports Roleplaying as it allows teams to choose their Style of play from a list of six which will then impact upon their performance. You can choose a style to suit your nation's footballing-mentality, to match up performances with the formation your team would use, or perhaps just picking the 'best' Style to work the scorination system, the choice is yours, you must merely pick one when signing-up. The styles (and their basic effects are as follows:

AOA - 'All Out Attack' - You may score a lot of goals, but your opponent will practically have an empty net to shoot at. Suitable if you RP your team in a 2-3-5 formation, for instance.
ATT - 'Attacking' - Your team is inclined towards attacking play, scoring more but conceeding more. 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 is a good representation of ATT.
NOR - 'Normal' - Most likely a standard 4-4-2 or similiar formation for a balanced style of play.
DEF - 'Defensive' - A defensive-minded team. 5-4-1 or similar formations here
AOD - 'All Out Defence' - If you like to sit in front of your goal and not take the ball into the opposition's half, this is for you. 6-3-1 perhaps?

And there is also the very random and near-suicidal (unless you have a high rank) mystery-style of:

KAM - 'Kamikaze' - Just. Plain. Weird. Perhaps if your team have no idea what a football match is, or if they're just psychopathic, try KAM.

Roleplaying:
Roleplays in the U21WC have a huge impact on the Championships, although not in the 'usual' manner. Using a special system called Roleplay Ranks (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/RPR), which increases your rank for the next Cup with every RP you write, a consistent RPer in the U21WC over a number of cups can easily rise to the top of the seedings over a period of time, much faster than can be dreamed possible in the World Cup ranks itself.

"The RPR-system was developed by Total n Utter Insanity as replacement for both the ranking system and the system of RP-bonus. The ranks for one tournament are determined both on the performance as well as the amount of RPs in the previous cup. This means, that the RP-bonus is delayed to the next cup and newbs have difficulties doing well in their first cup. This kind of system didn't suit the World Cup as each cup lasted well over a month."

Roleplaying in one U21WC also has the benefit of automatically reserving you a place in the following Cup.
