I'm thinking of re-opening the KSS (OOC, Input wanted)

Okay, I'm thinking of opening up the various branches of the Klonor Ship Story again, but before I do I'd like some input from the customers (That'd be you people). If I do re-open them there will be a whole bunch of a changes and I want to see how they'll go over before I bother.

The first thing to change will be the prices. Right now the Orion class Destroyer, one of the best ships in my arsenal, is selling for 50 billion Florens per ship. When I first opened up the KSS, back in August of '03, 50 billion was nearly my entire yearly budget and, when you take into account the cost of paying the crew, repairing damage, etc. we're talking I'm getting one Orion into service every several years. This was perfectly fine for me as I wanted the Orion to be ship that was so overwhelmingly awesome it could barely be afforded and nobody (including me) would have more than a few in their entire fleet. This in turn fit into my philosophy that having a small number of quality ships is better than having a large number of crappy ships. Unfortunately, when I first started producing Orions I was a tiny nation and they were priced accordingly. Now I have a yearly budget in the trillions and I could buy seveal thousand Orions each year. So could nations half my size. The extremely low cost of the Orion, and basically everything else in my fleet, lends support to the idea that they are in fact bad ships to be purchased en masse. Expect costs in the billions to go into the trillions if I re-open.

The sizes of orders will change next. As I said in the previous paragraph, the ships were originally priced when I was a tiny nation and had a tiny nation budget. Now-a-days nations founded only a few months ago can buy entire fleets with only part of a yearly budget. Prices will be raised when I re-open, I went over that earlier, but even so there will be nations that can monetarily afford to buy huge numbers of ships at a time. To counter this there will be limits placed on how much you can order within a certain amount of time. IC'ly this will be explained by the simple fact that I need time to build the ships. I don't know what the limits will be, but don't expect to be able to buy five Hecates and an Achilles every single day anymore.

The ordering process will have a complete overhaul. Right now only the main branch of the Klonor Ship Story, that which sells the ships and fighters to older and more experienced nations, has a specific ordering format requiring you to RP as if you were actually a nation buying something from somebody. The rest of the branches allow single line posts and absurd requests. If I do re-open the ordering format will be expanded to all the branches and you'll be expected to RP even buying a Gnat with a single Pulse Laser at the Young Nation Store.

I think those are all the changes I'm gonna make if I do re-open and I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Oh, here are the four branches of the KSS as they were before I closed them down because of my vacation from NS. Keep in mind they still aren't open.

FYI: Me saying "I'd like to hear your thoughts" means that I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I'm not much of a shopper, but I am well aware of the famous Klonor store. Listen...I'm just happy yer back RPing, and if you want to bring the stores back, it will only add to the complete NS experience.

So hell YAH...open fer business!

Well that's just one hell of an ego boost right there, my stores have been closed for months and people still know about them. w00t!

Oh, Gawdly, if you'd like to be in an RP with me (I vaguely remember me rudely kicking you out of one several months ago) I've got an open one that doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Why do you have two threads?

Nah, you'd be suprised at how often I say "Fine, since I'm not getting any responses it means nobody likes this and I'll just stop" and then everybody comes out yelling "Hey, don't stop! That was awesome! Keep going! etc."

Sometimes people just don't see the threads or don't feel like responding. Silence should be taken as what it is, silence, and not as a feeling one way or another.

EDIT: I have two threads becuase I mostly RP in the NationStates forum but the stores themselves are in International Incidents. If I made only one thread in one forum or the other they could easily be missed by the actual customers (If it was only in NS and not II) or by the people I have regular contact with (If it was only in II and not NS)

I am glad that you are trying to make yoru storefront realisitic and not some place where soemone who has just been made goes, "I will buy 1000 battleships and 200 mega bombers!" or something along those lines. Your right, you do need time to produce the ships, and I tip my hat to you for trying to make it realistic. Although, I do not agree with storefronts in the usual way that they are carried out, this is a step in the right direction.

Of course, they're famous! I know about them, and I'm not even FT.
My opinion, for what it's worth: Open them, with the changes you described.

Okay, I've changed the prices on everything in main branch and I want to see some reactions before officially opening it. Be warned, prices have skyrocketed. You'll be hard pressed to get an order in less than the hundreds of trillions.

So, what do you think?

I haven't been impressed with the quality of FT storefronts recently, so I applaud this reopening, even if the prices are now pretty expensive.
