OOC & Other info for :The Inn at the End of the Road

Many writers have speculated that there is not one universe, but many. Some say that these come about with every decision that we make...or don't... action that we take...or don't. But maybe they have always been there…Layers upon layers of alternate realities, branching out like branches on some infinite, integral tree.

Imagine if you will hundred, nay billions of reams of paper, in a vast empty warehouse. Now take them and dump them out. Some will touch, even over lap to a degree. Others will be completely buried by still others. And one or two, or more, will float aside, far away from all the rest.

Take long pins, and stick them here and there. Some will pierce many sheets of paper, others just one or a few. And some, just to frell with the physicists mind's, will bend and twist like boiled noodles hitting one piece of paper yet missing the piece that lays all but completely atop it, or hitting some pieces of paper many times...

What if that is what the multiverse is like; what the roads are like? And what if there was an Oververse, the nexus for the roads leading to all the universes. It was once said that "All roads lead to Rome". There is a road or roads, if you can find them, that leads to the Oververse ...

Care to see what you can find?

The Inn at the End of the Road is going to throw open it's doors shortly, and all are welcome.

The Inn wall always be comfortable for it's visitors, and especially for those that chose to make it their home. One might almost say that the Inn is alive

This is the OOC thread and place to find more info about the Inn and Nexus.

Thank you.

There is always enough room at the Inn, since like Nexus, it is, to a degree, malleable to the wishes and desires of those associated with it.

Rooms may be had for an hour, a night, a week, a month, or any of several life times. What you do in your rooms between consenting adults is your own business. However if what you intend to do is not by mutual consent - just remember that while the night may have a thousand eyes the Inn has many more...

The main floor are the realm of the more public rooms - the Bar and Refectory, the Museum of 'we're just borrowing it ' art, the Day Salon and Spa, the Casino, the Card Room, the All Systems library, Universal Swarchenegger Gymnasium and Exercise Room, ...and many more.

The civilian shops and transportational facilites ( mat trans, slide walks, vehicle rental etc ) are on the first lower level.

Firing ranges, dojos, archery ranges, armoury, weapons stores, Merc Hall and Adventurers Guild are on the second lower level.

Please not that there is a protective barrier between Second and Third Lower levels as...

Third lover level is devoted to all things majical.

Transit up and down through the Inn are stairs, escalators, elevators, and antigrav drop tubes.

The second and third floors are offices, office suites, confrence rooms, specialist libraries, and the occasional consulate.

The fourth and fifth floors are residences - rooms, suites, apartments, and multi level penthouses.

The top floor is the ballroom, the private dining rooms, and the staff's apartments.

The doors are about to open...

Wow, does this sound like a great place for Azrael and company to end up somewhere down the line or what?

The Inn is always open for interested customers...from anywhere, anywhen, and how ever they choose to arrive...

If you plan on reactivating it, I've got someone(s) who may just wander in.

This sounds interesting enough, sure, why not?

Anyways, what's the plot if any? Or is this just roam around and see what happens?

Honestly...I'm not sure if there is a plot or not- 2 hours of sleep in the lst 30 plus makes me a dangerous GM...

I'm always willing to risk that one, Shal. You always seem to take the ordinary and the unordinary, and transform it into something truly extraordinary.

Anyways, Casey's stopping by. Hope Red is in the mood for seeing an old comrade.

Old friends ( though some say you are only as old as you feel) are the best! and the more the merrier.

Only as old as you feel, huh? That reminds me of one of the more recent Sadler-books (not really Sadler, but under his name):

"Well old boy, it's been over a thousand years now, and you don't even look a day over 400."

Oh, and Shal, I sent you a TG.

Got it earlier, and replied now.

and snickers, Casey never did look a day over a Charles Bronsonish 50...

Oh, also, the Lady Ronin isn't a demon. Her original form was a humanoid dragon shape. Sorry if I described it poorly. Human form, her legs remain digitigrade, ending in claws, and she still has a tail.

My apologies for not visualizing it properly - I was rather punch drunk last night.

My apologies as well. Would buying her a drink earn Casey some forgiveness points?

lol, not really. She tends to take such things as her natural due. Of course, it's not necessarily what you do, but how you do it.

lol, not really. She tends to take such things as her natural due. Of course, it's not necessarily what you do, but how you do it.

I see. Does that make her dig that whole style-over-substance approach, or does she really just look for unusual and original approaches?

To put it relatively simply, she has almost literally seen it all. She's seen the birth and death of a universe and everything in between. She's been to other verses and traveled realms that no longer exist. Yes, she's something of powerplay character, but in this environment, I figure she's relatively harmless and she has some very definite and exploitable weaknesses if you can find them. No innocent children to molest, no religious zealots to disillusion, no empires to conquer, so mostly harmless.

Since she's lived for billions of years, it takes a bit of imagination to catch her eye. Unique individuals and personalities are most attractive to her, though she's not one to turn down the old tried and true romantic approach. However, do be prepared to be quite thoroughly rejected if she finds you lacking. She's not very forgiving.

Oh, don't worry your heart about Casey. In his realm, his role is to be the Last, and he's grown quite cynical over the years about this. He, and his counter-parts that all share that same unfortunate condition, must accept (and continuously make use of the sacred rights of soldiers to gripe about) this fact, though he's not above busting heads and having fun along the way. As for rejection, it has come to him in some form or another countless times. He won't be too hurt. A little sour and wanting of drink, but that's all.

Oh, and Shal, I hope you don't mind me making a bit of an end to the locker room bouncing, but I'm going out of town to spend time with my Dad this weekend and I don't know if I'll have a chance to log on.

Shal, is the note to Casey a reference from J'age, making light of her father's and Casey's odd professional arrangement?

Dare I make the inference that this hooded figure is an angel come to give Longinious his forgiveness?
King Arthur the Great
17-06-2008, 19:17
No. She's an old flame with an offer that Casey can't refuse. Besides, Casey needs little forgiveness (killing in war aside) for his acts, or at least that's how he views things.

Sorry, but she's sort of close to being one. More like an avatar of a concept.

Hey this is kind of cool. It reminds me of the "Dream- The Heart of a Star" chapter from Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman: Endless Nights." At anyrate may I join?

I sort-of have a character and an intrigueing plotline for him, but nothing too linear to keep it lose.

TO VV -of course... the reply is : "Yeah for breakfast"

TO KAtG - Of course he does, though if he bargains smartly he can make sure its not 'just' a horse...but then again

Querinos - I know he keeps getting billed as Americas best story teller but I can't of late seem to work up any interest in Mr. Gaiman's works - So I'll take your word for it - and you are welcome to join in.

This whole idea grew out of the comic about Cynosure & John Gaunt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cynosure) that I first encountered in the late 80's, early 90's) combined with a running theme I had in my own RP multiverse...the every popular "all roads lead to..." and the obvious relationship of- that where all roads end there has to be some place for one to stay. I've run the Inn for years now on multiple mb's. It seems to get good patronage.

Hi there, this seems to be a pretty cool idea...reminds me of a giant boarding house...mind if I join in?
Querinos

:Slaps fore head: Cynosure how could I forget.

Hey just to let you know my character has a name but it he needs to be asked what it is... Just part of his character that he has to play by abstract rules.
Tanara

BHL - yes it has many aspects of a boarding how, but it's far more than that, and do feel free to join in -

And just to advise every one - no one is required to interact with anyone else - BUT it is polite to respond if they start an interaction
I hope that every one will read every post - it may contain something addressed to your PC.

How ever I will also suggest that if you are initiating interaction you either tg the one your interacting with; or put their name at the top, so that it can catch their eye easier.

I know that no one intends to ignore, but it does inadvertantly happen from time to time.

Querinos - I am sure some one will eventually, but names aren't considered manadatory around here - convienent, but not necessary - yes, there is a HayU around here somewhere...

Thanks for the idea of a side story/game, Tanara.:)
