I will be starting a baseball league for NS, seeing as the only other option I've seen is Handball. The divisions will depend solely on how many people sign-up. The amount of games played will be 20. RP'ing will give you a slight boost in score.

If this gets going well enough, might want to consider things like mid-season all-star games and such. But all this is speculatory at the moment. Just shooting ideas in the sky with a Triple-AAA gun. =^^=

I know I already have my team ready. I have been thinking it up for a while. I just need to find a nice pitcure I like of Yankee Stadium or Bank One Ballpark, because I am going to mold mine off of one of those, being that those are my two favorite teams.

This thread kind of caught my attention, since I like baseball. I do have several questions, though, since I'm pretty new to this forum. First of all, to play baseball here, you just use that scorinater thing, correct, which amounts to basically whoever has the biggest odds of winning getting the best shot at it, right? So if I, as a very new person here, would join, I would be ranked very low. Secondly, what does joining this game entail, as far as writing out roleplays of games, or other stipulations that I haven't caught in browsing around?

For the purpose of making sure that everyone in this league is active, nations created in March '05, or nations with less than 50 posts will be denied.

Exceptions to this rule are:
Kamyr
Faradoon

If they can prove that they are active, and they RP their teams.

Yes.

Everyone has the same rankings right now, since this league is new.

You don't have to RP the game. What most people do is after I post the scores for that day, they type up a post similar to a Newspaper, and they go into depth about that specific game, and how their team is doing on the season. It's basically all up to you, so be creative. :)

Okay, thanks, Euroslavia, for clearing those things up. I guess since I'm already on the list I might as well give my team a name, so Armany's entry will be called the Armany Storm.

I will just be waiting for which division my team, the Shoguns, are in and who's team I will be playing first.

In his posts, he seems to imply that nations have a certain "copyright" on certain sports if they originally create the league, noted by his mention of handball being the only other sport available.

Why not start a soccer league, or a football one? It's because there are already established leagues. This holds true for baseball as well.

Perhaps you should put some sort of advertisement in the NS forum for your baseball league, rather than keeping it on an off-site forum. That way, people know of its existance, especially those new to the NS forum.

That's because there is no way the NSMLB could be contained within one or even multiple threads. My league has been inactive due to its leaders wanting to take a break, and because one of the leaders quit NS, not because its disbanded.

I said, that from your post, you imply that there are no other respectable leagues you could start, since there are already football ones, and soccer ones, and hockey ones, etc. I'm just saying that you're in fact wrong, being that NSMLB is still in existance, and is still run by New Genoa and myself.

Of course it's not illegal. There are no laws or rules and/or no way of enforcing them. There is, however, things such as respect which may stop some people from taking other's ideas. Still, it's impossible to prevent everyone from being impolite. RPing tact seems to have died as of late. This isn't the first idea of mine which has been copied.

I totally understand how you feel, trust me, I had an exact same incident occur in my region when I was running my region's F1 league, and someone else came and took over, basically. I know it's aganst RP etiquette, but seriously, since your league is inactive, please do let us get on with this and stop complaining, hrm? Please?

Might give some ideas of how to set up the conferences and divisions.

Nations so far: 20

That gives the following possibility.

2 Conferences

4 Divisions

or

1 Conference of 4 Divisions.

Number of games: So far 20.

I suggest upping it to at least 36 games, and a playoff system similar to the MLB style, the 1 and 2 Conference model can work with this.

4 Division winners and 2 Wild Card play-ins.

Wild Card Series (5 game series)
Conference Series (7 game series)
NSBL World Series (or another name will do..) (7 game series)

If this is agreed to at least, then Conference and Division names can be named by the members that participate, one of those user warm and fuzzy tags.

I also suggest at least a four - six week 'offseason' where a 'World Cup' round robin tourney can be done, ala the Olympics or World Championships.

RP/Scores Thread

How do you determine your box scores for each game? I assume everything is RP, but some people had entire scoresheets. Were these made up, or are they something that goes along with the scorinator?

I'm pretty sure it was all RP. Mine certainly will be, at any rate. ;)
