OOC: You have Splinteria listed in both Division 2 and Division 3.

What I'd suggest is doing a C&P from World Cup standings and modifying those. I can do that for you later on if you'd like.

Kazahstanian fans today were aghast by the close game against Lergent, their recently formed Lacrosse team being defeated in overtime against the strong largent side.

In the countries first international competition, ever, this is not a good sign! But the fans were adament that the team had the ability to win matches.

Slash opens with blaze, 13-8

Even though lacrosse is little more than a recreation sport for Sarzonia, Coach Dave Howland was optimistic heading into the inaugural Lacrosse World Cup. The players in Sarzonia's recreational leagues took the sport seriously enough to play hard and understand the rules, and National Lacrosse League games trailed only old National Football League contests in popularity in Sarzonia.

"We've got as good a chance of winning as anybody," Howland said. "We're only a matter of time away from forming a national league in this sport. Football's not the only sport we can do in Sarzonia."

The Slash made Howland look like a prophet, playing like a team that had been together a lot longer than one week's worth of practice in dispatching Funny Looking Islands 13-8 in the World Cup opener for both teams. Center Jeff Prescott scored the first goal in Slash history with 12:32 to go in the first quarter with a off-handed blast while fighting off a defender. Defender Tom Spencer scored twice and assisted on Prescott's goal, which was one of three Prescott goals.

"We just played a great game out there," Prescott said. "It'll be a little while before we get our legs under us, but it was fun to get out there and play as a team."

The Slash will play their next game against Marligantis, who lost their first game to Fmjphoenix 8-6 in the lowest scoring matchup on this first day of the World Cup. Howland said the team would practice with an eye toward beating a "tough defense."

"You only allow eight goals in a box lacrosse game, you're doing something right defensively," Howland said. "I guess that applies to us too. But we're going to have our work cut out for us."

Hockey Canada gets first win by doubling up on Funny looking Islands. Sarzonia wins 2nd straight with win over Marlgantis. Fmjphoenix walks all over Lowly Lovisia with a 14-6 rout. Fimble Loving Peoples lose a lead to Tonissia. Euroslavia and Kazakhstania don't know the meaning of defence in a high-scoring affair. Splinteria's goalie knows where the ball (or net) is by only allowing 4 goals in a huge win.

Marligantis Furious at Tournament Hosts

Marligantis are furious at the hosts of the Laccrosse tournament. Marligantis were not even informed of the start of the tournament, and already two matches have taken place. Marligantis feels unfairly cheated out of the chance to win these matches because they did not even get to send a team to the game before the game took place. Marligantis wishes that the hosts take more consideration to the fact that everybody doesnt sit on the forums 24 hours a day with a bug crawling up their leg waiting to post scores. Marligantis wishes to have a chance to do well in something. Marligantis realizes that this will not be Laccrosse, thanks to the poor hosting. Marligantis thinks that the hosts should not have invited other teams, if they wished only to make the cup revolve around their own desires and schedule. Marligantis assumes they will not be able to win now. Marligantis hopes future scores will provide teams with a chance to at least see their score before the next scores are posted. Marligantis congratulates Sarzonia on being able to sneak an RP in between the sporatic posting of scores.

Slash tired of whining from Marligantis

Sarzonia's 12-10 victory over Marligantis in the first-ever Lacrosse World Cup didn't come without controversy. After the game, the Marligantis team complained to World Cup organisers about the allegedly fast start to the World Cup.

"It's not my fault that team wasn't ready to play," Coach Dave Howland said. "I can only train one team at a time and I've got to focus on my team. This smacks of sour grapes from a team that takes winning and losing too seriously."

"Marligantis assumes they will not be able to win now," the complaint read in part. "Marligantis thinks that the hosts should not have invited other teams, if they wished only to make the cup revolve around their own desires and schedule."

"Jeez, can't those creeps stop whining," center Jeff Prescott (two goals) said after the game. "They lost fair and square and now they're crying because they didn't get practice time? They need to suck it up and start playing."

The verbal jousting overshadowed a strong performance by a Slash team that has averaged 12.5 goals in its two matches and has conceded 18. The Slash (2-0) is tied for third place among World Cup teams with 25 goals and is fourth with 18 goals against. Goaltender Chris Bancroft made nine saves in the win over Marligantis and has 16 on the tournament.

"We're just going to go back out there and focus on lacrosse," Bancroft said. "Marligantis needs to shut up and start playing like men."

Hockey Canada crushes Funny Looking Islands 18-9

Today Hockey Canada beat Funny Looking islands 18-9 in a rput that saw Hockey Canada dominating from start to finish. Goalie Bob Watson played awful even for his standards as he admitted to playing an awful game tonight. Colin Doyle took the lead in scoring by scoring 6 in their 1st game and 5 against FLI to take the goal-scoring lead to 11 goals in 2 games.

Hockey Canadians are flocking to the lacrosse arenas all over Hockey Canada to watch their next few games. Their next opponent, Marigantais, is winless in the tournement and has been complaining excessively in the past few hours. However, Hockey Canada will try to defend their honour and rights by beating Marigantis and proving they are the best lacrosse nation in the world!

LSN News: Bitter-Sweet

"Welcome to another session of LNS News, for all your Largentian Sports news. It was a bitter-sweet opening in the Lacrosse games. The Largentian team squeezed by in over time but got their asses handed to them in the next game by the Splinteria team. Most analasists contribute this to the injury of star defense man, Greg Winn.

"However he will be back by the next game and a win is expected, the third place standing will hopefully be a thing of the past and Largent will return to its rightful place in the top half of the standings. Also, other star attack player, Timothy Craig is reportedly recovering from a pulled muscle, just more hope for a substantial win next time. Thats all for this edition of LNS News."

Marligantis Questions Sarzonian Comments

Marligantis are left wondering what Sarzonia could be insinuating on their latest comments. Marligantis note it is not their business if Sarzonia are buddy buddy with the host nation, but would like to be given as fair a chance as anyone to compete. Marligantis questions the Sarzonian suggestion that "Marligantis needs to shut up and start playing like men." Marligantis invites Sarzonia to take a look at the Marligantian Uniforms. Marligantis plays in a pink and purple uniform, with a large butterfly on the front. Marligantis should not be expected to play like men, and will instead use other methods to try and achieve success. Marligantis also suspect match fixing will occur in their next game, against the hosts, Hockey Canada. Marligantis suspect to find Robert Hoyzer on the sidelines with a Hockey Canada T-Shirt under his referring kit, and will instead focus on trying to figure out if any other teams are aware that the competition, and complain some more.

Slash win first two matches with ease, show why lacrosse is a popular sport in Fmjphoenix

Fmjphoenix handled their first two matches like the Vanguard Slash, the top lacrosse team in Fmjphoenix, with ease. They played it dominantly as if it was their nature. They defeated Marligantis 8-6 and then manhandled Lovisa 14-6. Apologies go out as there is not time to relay info from the matches, but a little information can be given.

#3 scored 4 goals in match one and 4 goals in match two

#12 scored 2 goals in match one and 3 goals in match two

#1 scored 1 goal in the first match and 3 goals in the second match

#5 scored 1 goal in the first match and 2 goals in the second match

#14 scored 2 goals in the second match

Team roster will come later when the names have been given to the numbers.

Euroslav Team Falls Again

The Euroslav Team fell for the second time in a row, losing to Kazakhstania by two points. Statistically, their team is almost equal to the rest of the teams out there, if you compare the points for and points against, however, the thing that matters the most is if you can follow through with a win. Each time, the Euroslav Team has lost it by a few points. There needs to be a turn-around very quickly, or else they will have no chance at making the playoffs.

The Chromas Get Their First Victory!

The Euroslav team finally received their first victory in a lashing of the team from Largent. The final score was 22-9. After the match, the head coach of the Euroslav team responded with, "Today, I finally seen the teamwork and the motivation that we have been working for. I seen it in their eyes. They wanted to win, and they refuse to be known as just another team. These guys are known for their comebacks, and I believe that the rest of the conference needs to be careful. Once they set their eyes on the goal, its almost impossible to stop them."

If you look at the statistics, the Chromas have the best offense in the entire Lacrosse World Cup. Despite being in third position, their team is vastly under-rated. The conference that they are in is probably the hardest conference to succeed in, with such great teams as Sarzonia, Splinteria, and Funny Looking Islands.

Largent notches win #2 beating FLP. Euroslavia must have god on their side with a 20-9 win over Splinteria (I checked and odds of getting 3 b2b +20 goal games are 1:287). Marligantis doesn't look like the team they started as after beating Funny Looking Islands 18-7, seems like bitchin' and complainin' actually can get you a win in NS, who'd a thunk?

Hockey Canada happy with win, worried about Tonissia.

Hockey Canadians have been celebrating with their 17-6 rout of Lovisia, bet there is a shadow upon them... Tonissia.
Division 1 rivals Tonissia and host Hockey Canada are tied for 1st with 6 points. Though Fmjphoenix has 7 points after losing in overtime to Kazakhstania, making them the top team in international Lacrosse at the moment, if Fmjphoenix wins, they will have 9 points and either team will have 8, making them still 2nd overall.

Scouting Reports:

Sarzonia: The gritty Sarzonians are on top of Division 2, but not by fluke. These guys may prove a larger threat than what has been revealed.

Fmjphoenix: Topping international Lacrosse with 7 points, Fmjphoenix is like the Brazil of soccer. You will lose to them, just by a little bit.

Fimble Loving Peoples: Being last in Division 3 doesn't mean squat, believe it. These guys have 18 games to turn it around so don't think they are down so fast.

Euroslavia: If you could describe the Euroslav attack in one word it would be "WOW". 65 goals in 4 games seems something like a miracle more than a statistic, but Euroslavia is pulling it off. They must have God or something behind the bench...

Largent: A good team, just coming up short. Keep an eye out for them later in the round robin, they shine late in the tourney.

Kazakhstania: Tied for 1st in Division 3, Kazakhstania will be the dark horse in this World Cup... not making much noise, but beheading the giants that storm through the rankings.

More to come! (Damn English classes... I'm not going to england!)

LSN News: 50-50 Isn't Bad

"Well the Largentian team is fifty fifty. It isn't a winning record but it sure isn't a losing one either. Their team has been solid but coming up short on goals. The coach of the Sachems has made a change however, all midi's will switch from their traditional long-sticks to short sticks. They have the skill for attack and enough speed to still have an okay defense. Lead by Greg Winn, the defense should hold up as long as he stays healthy.

"The Sachem's next game will be against the fmjpheonix team. They are good but not too good. The only goal of the sachems is to loose by no more than two, one of the main reasons they switched to an offensive strategy. Also, Winn has told us that penalties will not be something he is concerned with. An injured opponent is much better than a healthy one."

Slash split games, lead group

Fortunately for Coach Dave Howland and the Sarzonian box lacrosse team, they didn't have very much time to stew over their first loss of the inaugural World Cup of Lacrosse. After dropping a 16-14 match to previously winless Lovisa, the Slash rebounded by posting a comeback win, beating Tonissa 13-12 in overtime to take over first place in Division 2.

"We needed to come back after playing an atrocious game against Lovisa," Howland said. "We had no excuses losing to a weak team like that. We were fortunate to beat a quality team after trailing for three quarters against them." The Slash (3-1) scored a total of five goals in the first three quarters, trailing 11-5 heading into the fourth.

Then center Bill Rowland came alive. He scored three of his four goals in the fourth period to lead a 4-0 run that brought the Slash to 11-9 with 8:46 to go in the quarter. Tonissa got one goal back at the 6:57 mark, but center Jeff Prescott scored the game tying goal with 31 seconds remaining in regulation to force the overtime period. He also assisted on the other two goals in the Slash's comeback.

"It's all on us," Prescott yelled as his team gathered on the player's bench after the end of regulation. He then set up Rowland for the winning goal when he came in for injured left winger Kevin Califf.

"It felt great to get the winner," Rowland said in the jubilant Slash locker room. "We're feeling some heat from Euroslavia and that attack, so we've got to play our best lacrosse to beat them. Hockey Canada and Fmjphoenix are also going to be tough. We have to be just as tough as they are."

Chromas set their sights on Sarzonia

After a second victory in a row, the team is officially back to the .500 mark. A quick turn-around, or as others would put it, a slow start gave the Euroslav team an 0-2 deficit, however, the players look like they've finally got back into the sway of things.

The head coach of Euroslavia was asked what his predictions would be, when the season was finished, as to where every team would be placed. Here is his response.

Division 1
1. Hockey Canada (They've got a strong group of players, and they work together quite efficiently. Look for them to be the main competition for the finals.)
2. Tonissa (They will definitely put Hockey Canada up for the challenge. Expect their team to work twice as hard for the rest of the Cup to oust Hockey Canada from first.)
3. Largent (Despite a slower start, this team is definitely one of the better teams in the league. Division 1 is definitely going to be difficult to defeat, but in order for Largent to make the playoffs, they need to step it up some more.)
4. Lovisa (It was unfortunate that such a team was thrown into a 'pack of wolves' (Division 1). This team really has to work harder than ever if it wants to stay out of the cellar of Division 1.)

Division 2
1. Sarzonia (This team, in my mind, is probably the favorite in winning this cup. Their team has proven itself to be one of the most efficient and respectable teams in the league.)
2. Euroslavia (I would certainly like to rank our team number one, however Sarzonia definitely has a chance at running away with things in this division. Our offense has proven to be the best in the league, but we'll see what happens when Euroslavia and Sarzonia face off. I can guarantee it will be one of the most watched games in the season.)
3. Splinteria (This team got off to a quick start, but lost it. Splinteria definitely has the potential at being one of the top teams in the League, however Division 2, in my opinion, is going to be the hardest to make it into the playoffs.)
4. Funny Looking Islands (I was personally shocked when FNI fell to 1-3 with this past game. They have a good team, but they have yet to release their true potential. They may certainly prove to be a rogue, when it comes down to playoff time.)

Division 3
1. Fmjphoenix (Despite its loss to Kazakhstania, I really think that this team will prove to be the best in Division 3. Their offense needs to be improved upon though, for this to happen.)
2. Kazakhstania (they are really going to put Fmjphoenix up for their money. If Fmj doesn't step up their offense, Kazakhstania will easily take advantage of it, and take the lead in the Division.)
3. Fimble Loving Peoples (Their team has potential, just as Splinteria does in Division 2, but they have yet to show it. Teamwork is a quality that this team has, but they need to work harder at it.)
4. Marligantis (Another one of those teams that might prove to be the upsetter when it comes to the end of the season. They could potentially deny a few teams their chance at going into the playoffs. Look for this team to catch up to the rest of the pack, and possibly speed ahead of them in the rest of the season.)

FLP back on form.

After recording 3 straight losses FLP are recording the kind of scores expected at the start of the tournament. With a team formed from the group of people sent to find out what lacrosse is, they have completed the expected and sunk like bricks.

The early win was clearly a fluke, but they remain hopeful. They have even created a makeshift training pitch and are practicing. Things may yet pick up.

Kazakhstania on Attack

Kazakhstania look to be in a commanding position in it's division, even after another loss against Sarzonia, who look to be the teams closest rivals.

Wearing their Green and Yellow strips and fashionable non-advertising, the team look smart even as they grace defeat in their recent very close matches. The team has proclaimed:

"We wish to perhaps make it through the division stages, but all we can hope for is a place in the final!"

Slash win close in overtime, lose close in overtime, then forget what do do in another loss

The Fmjphoenix Slash take a 17-16 win over Tonissa in overtime with an amazing 8 goals scored by forward #3, including the game winner. The Slash are looking like the top performing team offensively, but the defense needs work. Other goalscorers were #12 with 4, #4 with 4, and #1 with 1.

Another overtime game, another win. Right? Wrong. The Slash were narrowly beaten out by Kazakhstania 6-7, the SLahses lowest scoring output. Despite the loss, the Slash are still a front runner for making it far, and still have much more to do. #3 scored 4 goals, with the other 2 coming from #12.

Defense destroyed Fmjphoenix in the last game as they lost to Largent 9-13. Goalkeeper #24 was having a hard time seeing the ball as he could not even come close to stopping it. THey will need to work on it more in order to have any chance to keep going. #3 scored 3 goals, #12 scored 3 goals, #1 scored 2 goals, #14 scored 1 goal.

Losing continues. People not surpised.

FLP continue to be humiliated at lacrosse. The nations people are not really surprised though. The minds of the nation are incessantly pessimistic, and even more so with this sport, where it is widely shown that none of the player actually know the finer points of lacrosse.

They just hope the team bows out of the competition with grace.

Best Defense Shuts Down Euroslav Offense

The team from Fmjphoenix proved too much for the Euroslav team, shutting down their offense, and ending their three game winning streak, as well as pushing them back into third place in Division Two. When the first half of the game ended, the Euroslav team went back to its locker room to devise a strategy that would throw the Fmjphoenix team off of its typical defense, however the strategy didn't work, due to the flexibility of their opponents defense. When asked what the Euroslav team plans on doing, offense-wise, for the rest of the season, the Head Coach answered with, "We're going to keep bombarding our opponents with different strategies. There's only so much you can do when you're going against the best defense in the league, but we definitely learned something today. We just have to keep on our toes, and expect the unexpected. Our offense continues to be one of the strongest in the league, but there is still much room for improvement, and the team from Fmjphoenix showed that to us today."

Slash races to top of table

With a collection of players from recreation league box lacrosse teams, the Sarzonian national lacrosse team organisers weren't expecting much for the Slash. They expected to face teams from countries that had established national leagues and experienced professionals and expected to have their hats handed to them.

So far, it's been just the opposite. Besides a loss to lowly Lovisa, the Slash have proven to be one of the teams to beat in the inaugural Lacrosse World Cup. They continued their winning ways by defeating Largent 15-11, setting a team high for most goals in a game and extending their lead over Division 2 second place Splinteria to three points.

"We've played well so far this tournament," Coach Dave Howland said. "We're getting scoring when we need it and we're playing well defensively." The team is third out of 12 teams in scoring with 79 goals and is tied for fourth in goals against with 67. Only Hockey Canada and Fmjphoenix have higher goal differentials than the Slash's plus-12.

"I thought we might, might have a chance to do well," defenseman Jesse Lund said. "I don't think anyone in his right mind expected us to do this well at this stage of the tournament." Still, Lund cautioned the reporter that it was early. "There's still a long way to go in this tournament. We still have 16 round-robin matches left and then possibly a next stage."

Team officials from other World Cup teams were viewing game tapes of the Sarzonian recreation leagues and said that some of the teams played as well as pros.

"For a rec league, they're really intense," one team's general manager said. "You'd think it was a mid-calibre league the way they were getting at it."

Slash go back to scoring ways, defeat Euroslavia

The Fmjphoenix Slash produced another high scoring affair defeating Euroslavia 17-8, and went back up to be tied for first with Kazakhstania.

#3 scored 6 goals, proving again that he is a valuble asset to the Fmjphoenix team. Other scores were #15 scoring his first 3 goals, #1 getting 3 himself, #12 with 2, #8 with 2 and #14 with 1.

The Slash are still one of the top teams in the league and are going to continue to play hard to beat every team they play.

"Yes, that is right, we did it. Despite our recent loss the victory over the Slash overshowdes in greatly. It leaves us asking; is there hope yet? Many believe there is, but don't go partying yet. We are still second to last and looking for our second wind. No changes will be made this time but the coach is gettin' down and dirty with the sachems. Scorinated with the scorinator and to set the scores in the right kind of style (for lacrosse), I added all the scores from the NLL from last season.

Scores can reach a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 25. It's like dice, 7 being most common (in this case low teen scores) and 12 and 2 being least common (like 3 or 25). However, a team's chances of winning by more than 20 goals is 1:7392.

Hockey Canada is eurupting in joy and sorrow as the round robin draws to a close. The founding nation of the Lacrosse World Cup has been filled with nations that have dominated and stunk up the court. However, after tomorrow's game... we will remember those who have fallen.

FLP through. Dancing ordered.

Upon confirmation that FLP were through to the quarter finals, and thus ruling all over the place in yet another sport, it was ordered that every citizen must perform an embarresing dance for 10 mi9nutes each day. The dance may be performed within the confines of ones own home however, and an audience is not nessecary.

The team have also been told that, having halted pessism temporarily, they better not start losing.

Kazakhstania Through!

Kazakhstania have made it through! Hurrah! In the first Lacrosse World Cup, Kazakhstania have made it through, and are indeed very happy! What they can look forward to now, no-one knows, but we wish the team luck!

To victory! Or at least the Semi's.

I'm confused as to how you picked which team goes against the other. Maybe we should go by seeds. 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, and 4 vs. 5.

EDIT: Also confused as to why Fimble Loving Peoples made it through, instead of Funny Looking Islands, seeing as FLI has the better record.

The Team That Time Forgot

"Well, it was only a short time ago that you all turned the TV's off and went to get a snack. When someone spoke of the Sachems one would have to rack their brain to remember what the Sachems were. There was no news on them, there were no updates.

"Now you are all back, glued to the screens. You now their names, positions, weakness, strength. They were forgotten, a past we swept under the rug. Now we are waiting for great things. This was truly a team that time forgot."

kazakhstania Draw Level!

The Kazakhstanian team are national heroes currently, especially one Jordan Young, scorer of 9 points in their latest game. The team put on a fabulous and vital eprformance to draw leve with Euroslavia, facign the demon team for the second time in the competition!

They are fairly tired, but are draining cans of Red Bull in preperation for the next big match. The A team is being played,w ith various new tactics being developed, and the coaches are working their feet off.

The manager said:

"We have various ingenious new ploys, including a new Red Bull sponsorship,w hich gives us free caffeine! I have full confidence in the team anyway, and the next match is ours for the taking!

Kazakhstania WIN!!

Kazkahstania are through! The fairytale has coem true, as the team from Atryau continues to the finals. The team rejoiced, draining far more cans of Red Bull than is healthy, before rejoicing in the streets. Oh, and their fair share of beer, too.

The team has been unchanged as they go through to the final, Jordan Young leading the squad from the front!
