The Capital District (District City)

Takeda Akinari walked along a dirty sidewalk of District City. He had his hood over his head and a sash wrapped arond his face, trying to keep out the biting cold of an East 17 winter. He bumped through the crowds of people moving along the sidewalk and jogged across an intersection before the stop light changed color. He took in a deep breath as he neared a cop, who was standing on the curb sipping a cup of coffee. Takeda let it out the breath as he passed, his breath rising in the crisp air.

He slowed and stepped into the doorway of a bookshop, his work. He glanced behind him, up at the cloudly sky, as the first flurries of the expected snow began to fall. He turned and entered the shop, a bell tinging the opening of the door. He walked to the counter and nodded to another guy standing behind a register.

"Your shift begins in one minute, I think I'll head out now," said the guy.

"See ya dude," replied Takeda. He casually watched as his co-worker left the shop then glanced around the building to check for any customers still in the building.

Meeting tonight, and this one isn't going to go wrong, he thought, remembering the last meeting of the rebels where four members were captured in a raid, and haven't been heard of or seen since. He walked across to the opposite end of the shop and opened a door leading into a back room, the only room where the Feds forgot to put their cameras and microphones. He turned around and flipped a light switch, and a small light hanging from the ceiling, directly over a round table, lit up.

Ain't much, thought Takeda. But at least its safe. He knelt next to the table and pulled a smal cardbox out from under it. He grabbed a cellphone from the box and typed in a quick number shared by the cellphones carried by the small handful of existing rebels. He then typed a quick text-message, three simple words:

Its on tonight...

Gigi Calzone ambled through the streets of District City, checking on the newest merchandise. Not that she would buy any of it, anyways. She walked into an expensive clothes store and examined the high-priced Lingerie. If she had her old life, then mabey she would have considered buying some. But no, those days were over for Gigi.

Suddenly, a hidden pocket in her jacket viberated. Shit. She rushed to the nearest bathroom and slammed the door shut, checking the room for cameras. She spotted one above the medicine cabinet. Moving into the camera's blindspot-which she could easily identify-she reached into her jacket and pulled out a cell phone. There was a message from Takeda.

So...A meeting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Later...

Gigi casually walked into the bookstore, browsed a few minutes for some novels, then carefully walked to the back. She rapped lightly on the door.

"It's Gigi. What's happening?"

Jamie stood quietly in the shaddow of the bar, her dark makeup hiding her face. She moved silently through the bar, as men drank, and stared. They watched her young body, many eyeing it as a possible post owrk piece of stress relief. She made her way towards the bar to find her mark. She was trying to get a name, anythign that would help her meet this rebel group. However, before she made it, she was intercepted by a large man, with the stench of alcohol on his breath. "Hey there sweety, want some fun?"

"Not with you bud," she said, trying to push by. He moved to intercept her again, but this time it wouldn't work. She side stepped, and he grabbed her arm. She spun, bringing her back towards his stomach.

"Oh, I'm liking this baby," he chuckled.

"Not for long," she said. She pulled his arm up, spun underneath it to get behind him, and with a rather flashy flick, removed a black butterfly knife from inside the tight leather pants. It came up into his arm pit, then she removed it, and stuck it into the back of his thigh. She had made to much attention, and now the meeting would have to wait. She waved off her mark with the code sign, flashing her wrist tattoo, and bugged for the door. She burst out into the cold, and moved quickly towards a taxi.

OOC: I'm thinking a member of the rebelion could have seen the fight (possibly her mark is RPed by one of ya'll) and confront her.

"It's Gigi. What's happening?"

Takeda glanced up from his seat at the table and hit the stop button on the cd player in his hoody. He pulled the headphones away from his head and laid the cd player on the table. He stepped lightly next to the door and flipped up a bar and opened the door.

"Welcome to the new safehouse, courtesy of Turner's Books," he said as he stepped aside in a joking bow. "It's not the prettiest spot in town, buts its got a second escape route," he glanced to the large air conditioning vent in the ceiling. "And I was able to get some food and drink in here...I already scanned it for bugs, the Feds seem to have forgotten to set up any type of surveillance in this room. The walls are pretty sound proof too, made of stone..."

He stepped back next to the table and flopped back down in a chair.

"So uh, take a seat until the others get here, I got some new info that we can find pretty damn helpful...Want a soda or somethin until then?"

In the bookstore, a faint, chilling voice could be heard singing from somewhere in the rows and rows of shelves. Arthas Scipius, was sitting off in the literature section reading the book A Clockwork Orange and sipping at tea from a thermos he had. He had no clue a meeting was occuring in that bookstore.

Tao stepped into the bookstore. Shaking himself down he made straight for the comics, leafing through various volumes before heading for the door to the back.

Why do they need to hold these at night. My mother is suspicious already, and after what happened with Dad she wants nothing to do with these guys.

He knocked twice on the door. "It's me, Tao. I've come for the book meeting."

I don't know why I come anyway. They never tell me anything.

Gigi raised her eyebrows as she loked around the somewhat barren room, then grabbed a soda and sat quietly in a chair.

"At least this is better than nothing. You sure that there's no danger of getting caught tonight? You remember what happened at the last meeting."

She tensed and turned her head as Tao knocked on the door, then relaxed and snuggled deepere into the chair, awaiting Takeda's new information.

Guess I'll have my chara make it to the book store then?

IC:

Jamie jumped out of the cab, tossing the driver a hand full of bills. She ran towards the nearest store, a book store, and went inside. The last thing she needed right now were a bunch of drunk bikers chasing after here becuase she wouldn't give them a piece of ass. She moved queitly to the magazine section, where she noticed a few people disapearing into a back room. She followed queitly. Maybe she didn't need a mark after all to tell ehr about the rebels.

My word, it's freezing thought Michael Hallum as he stomped his way towards the meet. He was late, and it was dark. He didn't like the dark, really, it made a figure sucha s his supicious. Also, there were camera's everywhere.

He didn't like the feel of this meet, if it went like the last one, he wouldn't have a chance. He was, to tell the truth, nervous, and a little scared. But freedom came at a cost, did it not?

He saw the bookstore across the street, and ran across to it. the strets were quite quiet, something that made the city strangely quiet. He glanced around, before entering the store.

The took a look at the day's news, all censored by the Government of course. Nothing interesting. He made his way to the door at the back, and made his Rifle Bayonet ready. He'd used it before, but not against Fed's. He opened the door and looked inside, seeing various figures on the chairs.

"This the meet?" he grunted.

"At least this is better than nothing. You sure that there's no danger of getting caught tonight? You remember what happened at the last meeting."

Takeda stood at the knock on the door. "I'm pretty sure its good tonight, Gigi," he paused to open the door for Tao. "If not, then there is no safe haven left in this entire damned city..." He closed the door and stepped away just as the door opened again.

"Kuso," muttered Takeda as Michael stepped in.

"This the meet?"

"Yeah..." Takeda looked out the door and noticed a woman approaching the room. "Who the hell...Any of you guys bring a friend?"

Man, is she workin for the Feds or what? Takeda thought quickly. He stared questioningly at the new comer.

"I'm just a friend."

There aren't to many friends to be made these days... Takeda stood idle for a quick moment then asked a very smiple sounding question that would be lost on the usual Fed...

"What are you looking for?"

On entering the room Tao searched for those he knew. There were so few at this meeting. Many must be scared after the last meeting, aswell as those who were caught.

Before he could contemplate the fate of those unlucky enough to have not escaped he heard the talk from the doorway.

Instinctively, and with a swiftness only a child believing itself to be in trouble can manage, he blurted out "I didn't bring, and I wasn't followed. I wasn't even last through the door."

He took a step back from the entrance, nervous depsite knowing he was not at fault. He had taken numerous precautions.

Jamie stood silent. What am I looking for? she thought to herself. Well, a few mill, a nice bike, and some beer would be nice...

She glanced around quickly, looking to pick up an agent. She relaxed the grip on her butterfly in her back pocket, and answer in a simple word. "Freedom."

Arthas stayed deep in the back of the room, still humming and reading, but listening intently, wondering if anybody noticed his presence behind the shelves. He knew that their were rebel factions throughout the godforsaken world, and he was hoping that they wouldn't mind him eavesdropping uninvited like that.

Takeda smiled and stepped aside to let the newcomer through. He headed back to the room, then paused, listening.

What's that...music? He listened for a moment then shrugged. I really need a cup o' joe...

"Don't worry Tao, I know it wasn't you," said Takeda as he moved back towards his seat. He sat back in his seat and leaned back.

"Alright, let's get this going," he said. "The others can catch up on what they missed if they show up later, but the shorter these meetings, the safer." He glanced at the newcomer.

"First off, what is your name?"

Tao, having passed the blame from himself, would normally have relaxed. But the newcomer intrigued him. And he was curious as to how she had discovered their meeting.

He watched and waited for an answer. He might even pose questions of his own, that would show he was really part of the group. Though most likely he would just be ridiculed.

The muscular frame of Dominic 'D-Money' Matthews appeared outside the door to the meeting room, the pacmar-wrapped grip of his Glock 19 sticking slightly out of the rear waistband of his ripped black jeans. The black tank-top he typically wore was dusted slightly with powdered gravel under his well-worn white Echo jacket. Like the tank-top, his workboots showed signs of wear under the dried mud crusted around the soles. The diamond-encrused dollar sign hanging from his neck did little to improve his appearance as anything other than a gangbanger thug.

Dark stubble covered the bottom part of his face, giving his battered features a rough appearance. The black bandana that covered his head concealed the buzzfade haircut beneath it. His facial tattoo was prominent against his tanned skin, from both his heritage & his job. He rapped on the door with a knuckle hidden in a driving glove he typically wore to the pit-fights he was a regular participant in, then patiently waited for a response...

Speckled in the silences between conversation was the occasional turning of a page or pourinf of tea, still from the depths of the bookstore. Arthas didn't have a clear view of the front, or vice-versa, but he had sat in enough stakeouts to be able to guess how many people were around the corner. His humming turned into a faint singing, "Singing In The Rain". Anyone who new the book he was reading and seen the movie could know exactly what part he was on.

Takeda let Dominic in before sitting back down in his seat.

"Hey D-Money, glad to see ya made it," he said as he flopped back in chair and leaned back. "Next time, someone else get the door..."

"Jamie," stated the newcomer, answering the question Takeda had asked moments before.

Takeda nodded. "Well, welcome to your first meet, Jamie," he said. "Not much has gone down since the last meeting, the Feds found us out and made a raid, got four of our members..." Takeda sighed. "Alright, to business. I'll start with the bad news. Another illegal protest went down in Sector 7," he said, referring to a section of District City. "The Feds first used some tear gas, then shots were fired, and it ended with six dead protesters. Naturally, we were blamed..."

Takeda paused, thinking for a moment. "Anyway, so now I think we can expect some more negative attitudes from the average joe around here thanks to that lie...Now, to something that will help us out a bit.

"As I'm sure most of us know...we have a lack of weaponry. But there is something I cam across that is pretty damn useful. The MP station on 3rd Street, I got its security schedule. The times the guards change shifts, when the least guards are around, when the most are on duty. This station doesn't have much, a handful of pistols, mabye a shotgun or two. Most of the goods were moved to the Central Security Station of our section of the city, Sector 3..."

Takeda waited for what he said to sink in a moment. "The least guards on duty is at 10:00 pm. Then, we can get in there and get what we need. We have a lack of guns on our part, so most of us would probaly end up going through it with bats or knives, or somethin' along those lines...This is definitely going to be dangerous...We need the willing to do this, no one that hesitates. It is time for us to make our first big move, to take up arms."

Takeda stopped talking and watched for the responses of his fellow rebels.

Gigi remained quite, as she usally did at meetigs, but the thought of taking the station played over in her mind. She was one of only a few rebels armed with a firearm-A Silenced Pheonix pistol that she had stolen off a Federal Special Forces soldier-but she rarely used it. Gigi instead planned to use her Kunai for this mission, and keep the pistol along only for extra protection.

Gigi raised her hand.

"I assume you have an escape plan? Surely a sieged MP station would not go unnoticed."

Laughter could be heard from the corner behind the rows of shelves. Arthas had been trying to control himself, finding it all a bit humorous, but that last bit caused him to lose it for a bit. He quickly calmed himself with the aid of the tea and went back to humming and reading.

"I assume you have an escape plan? Surely a sieged MP station would not go unnoticed."

Takeda nodded. "Naturally. This will be a quick raid, to get something to fight back with. At the moment, it's impossible for us to hold anything."

He reached into his hoody's pocket and pulled out a handful of wrinkled papers. He picked out one, and unfolded it to reveal a map.

"See here?" he pointed out a spot. "Air vents, large enough for some to crawl through. One of us can get onto the roof and crawl through the vents to get inside. Once in, we get to this door, and let the others inside." He pointed to a door on the side of the building, probaly only used by custodians.

"Once inside, we head to the armory, its just a row of gunracks," Takeda pointed to another spot. "As I said before, not much is there, most of the good stuff was taken to the Central Security Station. But there is enough for us to create a full-blown rebellion, something more than just nightly meetings of plotting actions never taken... Anyway, once we get the goods, we move out, and fast. We get out the side door, the roof would take to many valuable minutes, and we all know how fast the Feds can react. Once out the door, we scatter in pairs, and meet up under the Seid River Bridge."

Tao listened in awe as the plan for the beginning of the rebellion was drawn before his eyes.

Without intent, he blurted "I want to come on this mission." He tried to halt himself, but he couldn't. "My father died for this cause, and all I do is run around passing messages. I want to be a key part of this."

Arthas' eyes turned to the side to look over at Dom. In his mind he was wishing that Dom would at least not call him G, but he decided to keep his mouth shut, because Dom had a couple inches and probably a hundred pounds over Arthas. As to the question of the second gun, he simply replied "The cop's partner." hand patting his sword.

A small smile crept across D-Money's battered features...

"That's how we do it, dawg... No witnesses, no crime, no hard-ass time..."

The pit-fighter pulled the model 19 from his waistband...

"Factory direct, son... Black market special, with a few mods like a threaded barrel for a silencer & a polished feed ramp. I also had 'Q' up the block belevel the magazine well & trick out tha trigga..."

The 'trigga' was a match-grade skeleton-style, but sported chrome plating & a diamond or two in the cut-outs. The grip had the letter 'D' with a pair of bars through it to make it look more like a dollar sign engraved into the pacmar with yet more chrome. Dominic had apparently put a lot of money into the small 9mm. Despite the cosmetic augmentations, it still fired a high-velocity round with decent stopping power...

Arthas walked over and gently took the gun oud of Dominic's hand balancing it on two of his fingers. He then lightly held it by the handle, aiming over at the corner he was standing in. He tossed it a few times in the air, juggling it with his own pistol before handing it back. "It looks... interesting, but that's all I come close to liking about it." He walked for the door. "Each to their own."

Tao burst through the door. "I have it. I got my weapon." He took a moment to collect himself before continuing, in a quieter tone. "I'm not sure if it's very good, but I could get some guards with it."

With this he pulled a poor excuse for a pistol from his pocket and began making motions as if killing a room filled with people. The gun wasn't great, but it could do the job.

Gigi raised her eyebrows at the pistol Tao had brought in-If it could even be called a Pistol. The only thing that Hinted that the scrap of metal was even dangerous was the slight, curved handgun shape. Gigi was not sure if it would even fire.

She rose and patted Tao on the shoulder.

"I'm sure you'll get plenty of gaurds with it, Dear, if that makes you feel good."

Gigi's hand slipped into her pants and pulled out her own silenced Phoenix pistol. She spun it around on her fingertips and checked it's ammo. She grimiced. There wasn't much left-only two or three clips worth of bullets. She would have to find some substitute for the Phoenix soon or get more ammo, or risk running around without a gun.

Gigi yawned, and mentally prepared herself for the raid. She planned on using as much stealth and as little gun as possible, as she always did.

Arthas almost got knocked over by Tao as he came running back in and drew his pistol. As he did with Dominic's, he lightly took it from him and went through the same routine. "Barebones, nothing on their that isn't absoultly necessary, no decorations or anything" He flashed Dominic a quick, joking glance "Because of that it's light, well, balanced. If you got bullets there, kid" Arthas slid the gun back into Tao's pocket "Then I say you are lethal."

He looked over at Gigi, deciding it would be best to not take her gun from her, even just to look at it. Besides, she did everything Arthas would do, which he had seen enough guns in his life to comment "Nice piece of craftsmanship you got in that shooter, ma'am." Blushing slightly at his own words. Idiot that voice in his head told him.

Gigi raised her eyebrows at Arthas, then gave an uncharacteristic giggle. She spun the Phoenix around in her hand as she gave the newcomer an interested look.

"You know, Arthas, you have a way of downplaying the tension of going up against a superior force of armed policemen with a few pistols and a shotgun or two." She gave him a wink. "I think I might be starting to like you."

Gigi holstered her pistol back in it's placed and instead pulled out her Kunai knife.

"Thanks for the compliment, but I prefer my knife any day over the pistol."

"Alright, enough chit-chat," he said. He walked to the door and stepped out into the isle between the wall and line of book shelves before turning around to look at the others.

"D-Money, I'll catch a ride with you, that shotgun will be nice to use," he stepped next to a water fountain and knelt down and pulled back a cover revealing the pipes and tubes that made the fountain work. He pulled a mildly heavy metal pipe out from under the fountain, a weapon that FSP would have found hard to see among the other pipes.

"Anyone else got a ride or what? We'll need to move with speed, that's gonna be one of our best elements tonight, stealth and speed."

Takeda hopped from the car, the shotgun hanging over his shoulder on a strap. He motioned behind him for D-Money to follow, then jumped lightly across a roadside gutter and behind a parked truck. He paused, taking a quick breath. He rose high enough to peer over the hood of the truck and scan the FSP Security Station. There was a guard on the rooftop moving a spotlight, and a guard at the door, which Takeda knew meant there were four more guards inside.

He glanced behind him at his comrades.

"Alright, I'm going to sneak onto the roof and get the door unlocked from the side," he whispered. "You guys need to get to the wall near the door, and get ready. This has gotta be a quick in and out raid. Let's move!"

Takeda crouched as he sprinted out from behind the truck just ahead of the spotlight and dove behind the building. He waited for the light to move away, to be sure the guard would be looking away as he climbed. Takeda grabbed a gutter pipe leading down the wall from the rooftop, and then began making his way up the pipe. He climbed up the pipe as quietly as he could, then once at the top, he slowly peered over the edge of roof.

"Turn around you jack ass..." muttered Takeda, staring at the guard manning the spotlight. The guard turned with the light. Takeda quietly pulled himself up then grabbed the metal pipe at his hip that he took from the bookstore. He stalked silently up behind the guard. He held the pipe behind, ready to swing. The guard didn't hear the pipe swing in an arc behind him as it collided with his skull...

Takeda hurried to an air vent, leaving the guard in a crumpled heap, and made his way down the vent into the building. He reached the bottom, and paused, remembering the map he had of the building, then nodded. Then kicked open a grate and landed as quietly he could next to a door, despite the loud clanking sound of the grate smashing into the tile flooring. He opened the door and glanced outside before pulling the shotgun down from his shoulder and waited for his comrades to enter the building....

Now!

Gigi's arm reached around the corner, grabbing the gaurd's shoulder. Before he had time to cry out, she had broken his arm in three places and slit his throat all with a few graceful gestures. After a quick nod to Gigi and a few hand signals of a good place to go, Arthas ran down a corridor on this order, hoping to prevent any flanks. He was running past a door when he slipped, a puddle of water seeping from under the door. Grabbing on to the nob, Arthas' body came up, parallell to the floor, feet sticking into the next hallway. A gunshot broke out, and Arthas' left foot was suddenly in deep pain. He let go of the nob and dropped to the ground. "Oh hell." He muttered, a simple look on his face, irritation. He hobbled up to his feet, the steel-toed boots slowing the bullet, stopping from too much damage. He drew one of his pistols, throwing it straight out in front of him. Just as expected, it was met with 6 wildly fired shots, more out of panic than anything. 7 shots taken, perfect. Arthas drew his sword and whipped around the corner, charging. He jumped up, crashing his boots into the cop's chest, winding him and knocking him to the ground. While he was winded, Arthas tipped his sword parallel to the jugular, slightly to the side of the important vein, and stuck the blade in a very little, severing the voccal cords, preventing any calls for help. He grabbed the guy by the foot, dragging him back to the defensive position, grabbing his gun on the way, where he dropped the foot and pulled out a long, thin knife, piercing at the back of the cops upper back, severing his spinal cord. Arthas stood up, looking down at the defenseless cop, smiling. Bringing his foot back. Grinning. Foot speeding forward. Eyes alight. Foot hitting home, making contact with the cop's skull, a hollow cracking noise. Chuckling. Arthas drew the cops knife and randomly slashed and stabbed at him, leaving the officer a brutalized, tattered mess. As one last attack, Arthas, still with the cop's knife, pulled his foot to the wall and stabbed through it, sticking the knife through and into the wall. The cop couldn't feel it, but he could still see it.

Arthas got in the passenger’s side, sitting sideways, his back against the door. He looked over to Tao in the backseat “Hey, like this” He ejected the clip out of his pistol and loaded it back in slowly, also showing him how to chamber a round. “Don’t worry about it, kid. We all have had to learn.” Arthas reached back on to the panel behind him, rolling down the window of his door. He sat up a bit, scooting up through the window opening and sitting on the window frame, one hand holding on, the other hand holding his gun. “Ready as ever.” He sighed, putting his good foot on top of his band, trying to stop the blood from spilling onto the seat. He reached back in for a moment, pushing a few buttons on the stereo before sliding back in to his spot. He began to sing along with the song as he signaled Gigi to start driving.

“All… I see… it's not… for me…
What… I want… you have… not got…
Tried to use the things you sold me
No matter what the cost.
Tried to go the way you told me
But each time I got lost.
The stairs didn't lead me anywhere.

I'm taking the fire escape
Up to the roof
Don't care if it's not that way
You'll find the truth
Time to make this climb
To rise above…

Arthas’ face was alight, excited. Even though they were still in the hornet’s nest and he was wounded, he was having a great time for once. He had new friends, the wind through his hair, a gun in his hand, and music playing. He closed his eyes slowly and smiled.

Dominic nodded, then floored the accellerator...

"Aight, dawg... Hang on..."

The red SUV sped off into a nearby drainage canal, taking an alternate route to wherever it was they where going...

((btw, remember from earlier made plan, they're ditchin the Feds for a new hideout under the bridge over a city river))

Takeda listened to the radio he kept from the fallen FSPs for a moment, listening in to the conversations as D-Money sped away in the SUV.

"....They are moving away from the area in two vehicles! Get choppers into the air, pronto! Highspeed pursuit, targets are armed, be warned!"

Ah shit...Though Takeda as he cocked his two pistols.

"From Federal Security High Command, highspeed pursuit on armed targets believed armed and dangerous! FSP are to use two GS-7 choppers! Spec Ops, get a Shadow in the air!"

"Ah man," Takeda muttered. "You hear that D-Money? We got serious trouble. Let's ditch the choppers before headin' to the new hideout."

((GS-7 is pretty much the Gallimus equivalent of the RL US Apache...The Shadow is a chopper with room in the front for two pilots, and room in the back for four passengers (spec ops in this case) armed with two miniguns and a machine gun for a man in the back to use))
