[OOC: Big time warp, wrap and other funny things involved.]

The unification of Tarasovka and the Vortex Corporation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6886902&postcount=6) happened quickly and efficiently, after the Corporate Council (which was one single ‘entity’ anyway) suddenly went into non-existence and other interesting details came up, such as certain economic and financial ties between the Vortex and VerTech Corporations. All in all, the locals met the news calmly as they were granted the same rights as all other Taraskovyan citizens and their territories received the same status as other Federal fiefdoms.

And while the Federal authorities were busy making the Federal flag fly over Uthar, VerTech, which now found itself controlling the overwhelming majority of the Vortex economic sphere, had other issues to deal with.

Honourable Members of the Executive Council,

It has certainly come to your attention that the political, territorial and economic entity known as the Vortex Corporation has fell under Taraskovyan jurisdiction recently. And while we leave the political and territorial questions to the Taraskovyan federal authorities, we have matters of economic fields to discuss with you. Indeed, VerTech is now the proud owner of the economic constituent of the former Vortex Corporations, which, in its times as an independent entity, enjoyed a substantial amount of trade with the Illuvauromeni Commonality of Everlasting Light, trade that, it would seem, now comes under our jurisdiction.

The Administrative Council of Vertev’s Technologies Corporations uses the opportunity to reassure our Illuvauromeni counterparts that, seeing no reason from our side to void existing contracts and agreements, our side will continue to honour the engagements of the Vortex Corporations. However, we now await your views on the matter to clarify the situation.

The secretary sighed as she polished her nails and peered at the people sitting in the room waiting for the audience with her Boss. No, no, and no again, her Boss, responsible for the communications and press department of the Corporation, was holding an important meeting and could not see anybody else. She grew tired repeating it times and times and times again. She sighed again as she blew her bubble gum into a big pink balloon in front of her face. It was the moment when the intercom came to live with her Boss’es voice, making the young woman blow a bit harder into the bubble, causing it to pop, covering half of her face with a pink mask.

- Miss… euh… whatever your name is. Any incoming messages from ICEL?

She struggled to get the sticky matter off her mouth to be able to answer her Boss, finally managing to clear a space large enough to be able to respond.

- No, Sir, but you have messages marked as being from the…
- Hmmm…what do these say?
- I don’t know, I do not have the clearance to read your mail, Sir.
- Ah, right, pass them on to my First Secretary.
- She is on maternal leave, Sir.
- What… again?

The intercom turned off as the young secretary blinked. She sighed as she looked herself over in the mirror. She stood up, smiling awkwardly to the exasperated people in the room and went out, taking direction of the restroom.

Dear Gentlemen/Ladies;

It is unfortunate that this has taken quite so long for a response to be issued, but this matter was a difficult one to resolve, involving several shunts from one side of the nation to the other.

Of course, the initial communique was for the eyes of the Executive Council, but economic matters come under the purview of the Economic Court as well; after legal wrangling, an Economic Court Ruling (Ruling #421-G 2 d.e.) has established that it is indeed legally possible for this arrangement to be accepted.

Therefore, the Imperial Trade Conglomerate has issued an advisory to its subsidiaries, informing them that they may continue (for in the meantime all contracts currently pending were fulfilled) to a) pursue contracted work in the territories formerly under the control of the Vortex Corporation, with the permission and inside the legal framework of local government guidelines, laws, and bylaws; and b) that any monetary loss incurred by the delayed decision can be claimed directly from the Economic Court via the usual method. That is, applications will be decided on by the Economic Court Chief Justice, plus two neutral officials appointed at random from the Economic Court Independent Advisory Board. Naturally, such a claim would need to be argued for and against, in the usual court-based format. Such claims are also possible for Taraskovyan-based interests, of course.
