Republican Council Returns Ambassador to DDR Embassy

With the conclusion of talks between the Democratic Dutch Republic of Knootoss and the Free Republic that ended the state of 'war' the Republican Council has decided to return an Ambassador to the Embassy of the Free Republic in the Democratic Dutch Republic.

"We have chosen Ambassador Nagy, recently returned from Edolia, to be Ambassador to the Democratic Dutch Republic, we hope that we will soon be receiving a new Knootian Ambassador here in Lassic as well."

Stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Alec Connover.

Ambassador Vareg Nagy is the second most senior Ambassador in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is famous for his dislike of foreigners and his legendary and humiliating dressing down of the Empress of the Scandavian States at the Conference of Haven States. Ambassador Nagy's verbal admonishment of the Empress was met by nearly incoherent sputtering of obscenties from the leader of the Imperium, showing her lack of diplomatic decorum and inexperience in dealing with international diplomacy.

"The Knootians had best be on their guard, Ambassador Nagy is a bulldog when it comes to defending the Free Republic's interests and philosophies. I think that sending an Ambassador back to Knootcap is a signal of reconcilliation, but sending Ambassador Nagy is a signal that all is not forgiven yet!" Stated syndicated talk show host Joel Rifkin.

*******

Ambassador Nagy had arrived quietly aboard a commercial flight from Lassic, the dour Lassean immediately headed to the Vaadian Embassy in the Wassenaar Embassy District. His flight, cab ride and walk to the embassy had fortified his dislike for Knootians. He had always thought them a nation of peoples filled with impotent urges of misplaced self-importance.

He entered the Embassy hanging his coat and hat at the door and setting down his bag, the receptionist looked at him a bit puzzled "Can I help you sir?"

Ambassador Nagy scowled "Yes, have someone fetch my bags and find my assistant. I am Vareg Nagy, your new boss."

She hopped to it, Ambassador Nagy had a fearful repuatation.

Ambassador Nagy walked in a ways, musing to himself that he may like Edolians more than Knootians, but that was academic since he hated both.

That very afternoon a messenger boy arrived with a package. It contained a inlaid wooden box containing three diffrent type of tea and a note.

Ambassador Nagy,
I on behalf of his Grace, Alexander III would like to welcome you to Knotoss and the Wassenaar Embassy District. I present you with this selection of fine teas from the Royal Estates for your and your staff's enjoyment.

United Duchies policy is for communications between ourselves and states that we do not presently have a diplomatic delegation are exchanged through diplomatic delegations to third party states. As such I welcome you to present any issues that may arise between the Free Republic and the United Duchies to myself.

Again, Welcome to Knootoss Ambassador.

With deepest respect,
Baron Highwater
Royal Ambassador of the United Duchies
to the United Providences and KIST.

Ambassador Nagy looked over the note and the teas. He set them aside and wrote a quick thank you note:

To:Baron Highwater,Royal Ambassador of the United Duchies
From: Ambassador Nagy, Ilek-Vaad

I thank you for your welcome and for your kind gift. Please relay the thanks to his Grace, Alexander III.

The Free Republic is always open to keeping lines of communications open with any states that wish to do so. I know that previously the Free Republic has not been invited to send an ambassador to Port Olympus in the Federated Klatchian Coast, and to make up for this we have vigorously made contacts with all friendly FKC states that would reciprocate.

I hope that in future that our nations will not need to exchange pleasantries in a third nation and we can exchange ambassadors and normalize relations as appropriate.

Ambassador Nagy

Ambassador Nagy was well aware of Alconian obstructionist policies with regard to the Foreign Guard and that only Dyelli Beybi and Vrak had thanked the Free Republic for sending a fleet to scare off New Shirona in the invasion of Dyelli Beybi.

Alcona and Hubris was decidedly less liked than even Knootoss.

OOC: Yes, Vaadians are just generally not friendly.

(OOC Note: Port Olympus is the Klatchian Capital...Clarifying for those who might not know. Second point, you don't recognize diplomatic immunity if I recall correctly. I hadn't ment to continue to post on this thread...but it is an opportunity my government would not miss.)

The messenger showed up with a quick reply.

If Ilek-Vaad wishes to have a Klatchian Grand Ambassador, I strongly suggest your nation ask King Vrak, President of the Federation. At present, the Federation has no direct diplomatic embassies in the world. After your help in the Neo-Tyr situation, the government of the United Duchies would gladly agree to the exchange in the Klatchian Parliament

The Alconians had never really been keen on a foreign army within the Klatch. Nor the idea of having an ambassador in a foreign nation without diplomatic immunity. Nor being at all freindly to a 'socialist' nation. Really this had less to do with a dislike of socialism than of the 70 years of warfare with a so called "socialist" state. Hubarians were far more knee jerky about that, for an obvious reason, they had been the "socialists." People tend to dislike forms of government that leave them starving in the streets while their 'beloved leader' commits unspeakable acts of beastiality.

OOC: I don't recognize diplomatic immunity? I wish someone would have told me? I would've arrested that snooty Knootian Ambassador! I'll reply IC tomorrow.

Ambassador Nagy returned a reply.

I know that we already have an Embassy in Vrak. It was discussed that an Ambassador should be sent to Port Olympus, but apparently the Vrakians believed that other nations within the Federation would object and move to block such an action.

I will pass along your message of support to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It is ultimately his decision to pursue such an action.

I don't think I've said that Ilek-Vaad doesen't recognise diplomatic immunity. I do know that I stated that the Free Republic holds the right to revoke such immunity at any time (as do most nations) but that has never been done and would be tied to ejecting said diplomat from the country. The Free Republic has never ejected a diplomat, not even when at war with the nation in question.

Dudok revisited (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=6338478&postcount=116)

Café Brasserie Dudok, The Hague
David Davinci (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/David_Davinci) leaned over, closer to his friend Anna De Meer, who put down the orange juice she had been sipping.

“Did you hear about that new Vaadian ambassador? My friends told me he was really quite the attraction.”

Leaning back languidly, David answered: “Ambassador Vareg Nagy – yes, I met him in fact at one of the diplomatic engagements recently, at a low-level Haven regional promotion thing.”

She clapped her hands excitedly. “I heard such dreadful stories. They say he is xenophobic and rude, with a boorish manner. Did he by any chance insult any people while you were there?”

“He did not say much. But, well dear, I suppose that ‘boorish’ it is the manner Vaadians typically conduct themselves in. Mr. Nagy is a victim of his culture as we no doubt are of ours.”

“Oh, I’m sure”, she replied slightly disappointed and not hiding it well, “I just thought he was especially brutish.”

“He did not seem especially caveman-like to me. But I will share any anecdotes I hear, I promise”, he replied with a smile. “After all I could never deprive you of such important news.”
