Liverpool England & South Osettia WC22 Bid Thread

*If you prefer, here's the Wiki Version (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/SOLE)

First off, let me start by saying a few words.
As many of you know, I'm a perennial bidder. I won't be the first to deny that... perhaps you might want to know the reason behind that. Well, as I've told TBF and CS, it has to do with the wierd fact that I claim to have 'invented' the NS World Cup; a claim which I cannot back up due to te original threads having been purged. In Feburary 2003, I started a 'NationStates FIFA World Cup'. After two matchdays were done, I had RPed an internal civil war, and left the running of it to Iesus Christi... this never seemed to happen, and I left the forums for three months in March. Apparently, in April 2003, Arridia came and started the 'NS World Cup', and when 32 nations signed up, he started what we now know to be the longest running recurring RP ever in NS' history. While this may seem a bit stretched, a few people (TnUI? Ogle? Bedi?) might remember the WC6 [my first 'NS World Cup'] Signup, where I claimed to have started it (Ogle then found the link to my original thread.)

Anyhow, that's the story, and regardless of whether you believe it, here's the SOLE Take II bid for WC22.

Scorination
We'll be using the amazing java program creted by Rejistania known as Leagion.

Ranks
Full KPB post-WC21 ranks will be used.

RP bonus
We'll be trying a minimal RP bonus. Me and SO actually wanted to duplicate our CoH bid and not use RP bonuses, however we agreed it was too risky so we've come up with this.

Any RPs with under 100 words will not be considered.

Each considered RP will receive a rank boost of 0.001 per word (IE the minimum boost you could get would be 0.1 ranks). If the RP is deemed to be excellent (think Lemmitania), an extra boost of 0.01 per word will be awarded.

Number of Teams
82 - 10 groups of 8, top 3 progress
102 - 10 groups of 10, top 3 progress
107 - 15 groups of 7, top 2 progress

Conclusion
That's the end of our presentation, we sincerely hope the WCC will consider our bid. Feel free to ask questions, post praises/criticisms, etc.

Hey, this bid looks very good.

I would just like to say that I have seen you two around on the NS F1, and I am taking part in my first NS World Cup, number 22 on NS, and I would like it to as best as could be offered.

Thanks for making a bid, though I am quite worried as the RP Bonus would be what keeps my team in the running, as I have never been in a cup before. I mean, I am not at all aiming to win, just to maybe win a match or two and be competitive. I hope this change to the system would not inhibit new nations from mounting the slightest threat to those more experience as NSWC, like Vilita and you pair.

If you take part in the BoF, which I believe you are, you should have no problem with winning matches (although there are no guarantees). As long as you RP, you should be fine.

Can I just clarify this please. An excellent RP would get 101 times more RP bonus than a normal one. Is this correct, or have I misunderstood/misread what you have said?

Good catch. .001, apologies. Although from the current crop of RPers none are really Lemmy standard yet...

Horrible RP Bonus, going to kill this bid, i think.

Question: will this be a split nation WC like 2002 Korea/Japan? Or is SO a puppet of LE? or vice-versa?

So confused here.

I can answer this one. SO and LE are separate nations not affiliated in any way. Almost every NSWC since the fifth has had two hosts, just in case one should happen to get RL-itis and be unable to complete their duties.

What are your reasons for calling the bonus 'horrible'? I'm sure there are plenty that disagree with you.

In what ways will this bid differ other than RP bonus from the Rejistania bid, as obviously you will be using the same method of generating scores.

This looks like the one that LE used/is using in the Four Nations Invitational. Now, for that I wrote an edgy, tragi-comic courtroom drama that LE blinked at and decided was excellent. That raised me five ranks at once. Five whole ranks, for one single RP that I wrote while bored after watching A Few Good Men! So much for minimal, if you can manage to write a large, 'excellent' RP once per matchday, Margilantis, for instance, could be up and thrashing Vilita, for another instance, on the final matchday.

Looks good on paper as far as minimality goes, but in practise it can be a pretty huge bonus.

Mind you, I found a flaw (or Druida did) in that... it was one decimal place too little - something whcih would have raised you half a rank. ;)

Ahh, so you can't keep a hold on your own RP bnous(inator). Great!
