Colonial Expansion, to Haven. [Open RP]

Riddick stood upon the decks of the flagship as it left for the upper stratosphere. Indeed, if such an operation was to happen and persist via the regular methods of transport, a journey like this would take perhaps weeks. And yet, if he was to lead the fleets into the stratosphere of this planet, perhaps even beyond, the mission to Haven would take a manner of minutes. Yes, if possible it would be a nanosecond to the Pacific region, but such an idea or notion would be nothing but of the future ahead. They were advanced, but not that advanced. Still, no matter how technological these men were, establishing something like a colony in Southern Haven would be a feat if anything.

Soon, he would be entering the atmosphere of this fair planet again, and the large fleets behind him would follow. Perhaps alarm would spread amongst Havenic individuals; hopefully a message sent ahead would calm any fears which could spark and erupt into likely conflict.

I can understand the conflict would could presently erupt if no or little notification was sent before my fleets were to enter into the south of Haven, granted though since the sheer size and prominance of their presense. Within the next few minutes, please be advised that some strange events may occur within your region, such as loud sonicbooms, or the images of fire racing and streaking across the sky. You must understand, these events are nor dangerous or aggressive in any way shape or form, and your national assets are hardly at risk of damage or attack. This is an operation undertaken by the Blood Dynasty as a national government, to establish a small colony in the south of the Havenic region.

We are open for comment or debate, but are not open for comprimisation from local powers. Thankyou.

In the meantime, as Riddick stood upon the bridge of this ship, he watched the sensors move wildly. Indeed, anyone with an untrained eye would be under the belief that these fleets were beyond control, yet he knew better. It was within seconds for these ships to re-enter the atmosphere below, where they would appear over the oceans south of the New Haven Socialist Republic. With a single button, computer and artificial intelligence systems would take control and steadily guide the fleet into a safe entry. Of course, that took a man, like Riddick, to press that button. Or rather, slam his fist upon its being.

Alarms rushed through Outzone cities orbital command bunker. The city site leased from the NHSR sat upon Baltic island and was the main dissemination point for ZMI influence and products in the Haven region. It was therefore somewhat high on the lists of defended assets. Dozens of satellites, stations and platforms that had been put in place to defend and service they city watched as the colony fleet streamed into the atmosphere huge trails of iridescent plasma lighting up the night sky.

Data was relayed to the Gestalt. A decision was reached.

Understood...

This was the only message sent in reply to their contact's source. Indeed, the last remaining possibility which Riddick wanted was to enter into hostile engagement of forces, Havenic or not. Like said before, an engagement would only slow the process down, and although probably under a rate never before imagined, slow still meant slow, and war still meant battle, fire, and blood. Maybe, these were the desires captured by the underworld of which Riddick was a member of, but mixed with the being of another, he had learned to keep self-control. Perhaps this was the single reason why an Austarian vampire outlasts a vampire of another kind, on average. Immortality wasnt a seal of definance, but rather just a symbol of protection. Immortality, came at a cost.

Ripping into the upper levels of this atmosphere, the crew were tightly fastened to their stations. A sonic-boom, able to be heard clearly even in the most northern parts of Edolia would have exploded into the region. Surely, the people of Kriegrogard, being closer to the point of entry, would have been deafened by the enormous bang. Fleets who were unwilling to slow, even for the entry into an atmosphere, were loud indeed. Anyhow, no matter how fast they wish to travel, general friction laws still applied and the levetitating fleets slowed down to the maximum levels they could fly, without burning the area's oxygen completely. They were coming close to the landing point, and already the sensors and display moniters were focusing onto the promised land ahead. This was a pretense to the Ravenspire, just one move forward, one step ahead.

And even though the crew waited impatiently, time still managed to befall them. For although minutes had passed now since they entered the atmospheric realm of earth, it had seemed like minor, tiny seconds. Like fire across the midnight sky, they raced across its horizon toward the final destination. And yet, it was daylight. Shining bright as the sun, nobody could say they didnt notice...

Chinshoudang Space Assault Base, Shen-Zhou, Tiburon

The Tiburonese government didn't need advance warning from the Austar Union that a group of ships was entering Havenic orbital space, although having a telegram that would prevent any need to send a battlegroup to make sure a neutral nation was on board. To make sure a good first impression would be presented to the Austar Union, a message was carefully typed.

Official Message from the United Republics of Tiburon:

We welcome the arrival of the Austar Union to the Haven region, and hope our nations relations are bountiful. We would advise the Austar Union, however, that this region is a volatile one at the moment, having recently experienced two wars (one between Hogsweat and Kriegorgrad, the other between Hogsweat and ourselves) as well as a uprising (the Yasmarean uprising in Edolia). However, that does not bar the majority of Havenic states to exist in peace and concord. We hope your stay, and our relations, are pleasant ones.

Anti-Aircraft Artillery Surveillance Station
Northern Omzian Frontier, 0802

Myriads of screens dotted on the walls of the dark room, as brillant rays of various frequencies penetrated the darkness of the windowless cave. Dry dust floated around within the room, as only the vibrations of the cold winds outside made an acoustic impression in the minds of the young operators of the station. "Hey, Lt, any coffee and chips still here?", a young sergeant asked as he turned his head towards the only figure of the room with the two silver stars shining on each of his shoulder.

"We are already on duty and will be in this station for several more hours, and you are already impatient and hungry? My goodness, " the lieutenant replied with a hint of frustration with a continuous stare on the flat screens facing him, green curvatures and dots displaying themselves across the screen as the Roman alphabets and the Arabic numerals continuously updated themselves with each scan. But suddenly, new contacts began to appear as various geometric figures began to fill the screen at an instant, while an apparant bang penetrated the thick layers of stones along the walls of the cave. With each scan, more tiny geometric figures began to appear, each bearing imperfect symmetry as they began to change location across the screens.

"Lieutenant, what is this?", the sergeant asked with apparant astonishment, having never seen such in his entire career as a member of the anti-aircraft artillery troops. His eyes focused on the seemingly erratic movements with an intense concentration, as a series of additional symbology also began to appear, which the sergeant rarely came across. More frightening sounds of boom continued to circulate as everyone wondered in confusion and bewilderment.

"Contact the command center at the base through secure channels, sergeant," the lieuteant said as he typed on his keyboard, while struggling to keep his cool like he is trained to do.

"What?"

"Get the command center, you idiot!"

As the engines continued the churn, Riddick stood tall upon the deck of the flashship of this fleet. Remembered in history for perhaps an eternity, he knew that every desision, every thought, every desire had to remain as pure as possible. Still, his heart had been blacked by the fires of Hades, and although he kept himself in a manner deemed respectable, his thirst for fire and blood was there. And yet there was no need, for it seemed that Haven so far was ready to welcome a colony with open arms, especially from a nation such as this. He had recieved one message in particular, well, two. One from the homeland and one from a regional member. Slowing the engines of the Havenic Fleet, he complied with orders above, from Indigo. In the meantime, as the fleet mysteriously hovered in wait, Riddick had decided to reply to the fair warning given to him, regarding recent hostilities within Haven.

Thankyou for your open concern for our safety in the new world. Actually, I have been observing closely the actions and attitudes of the leaders of Hogsweat, and I am becoming quite increasingly concerned. I do fear that nations such as these are a danger to the balance and stablity of regions such as Haven, who has had their own fair share of battle and conflict. I hope that my presense here may include with me, a strong bonding of friendship and peace between regional powers.

Tiburonese Embassy to the Organization of Haven States, City of the Eternal Alliance, Former Alliance State, Tiburon

The Tiburonese ambassador to the OHS received new mail from the Austar fleet coming in, mailed to the Department of State. Opening it and realizing she, not Secretary of State Duo Maxwell, was going to respond, she quickly typed a message, with consent from the commander in charge of Tiburonese forces in the region.

Admiral Riddick,

Although we have experienced some... distaste... at the recent actions of certain nations, we believe that regional politics is a matter to be fully discussed between our nations once your fleet is safely on the soil.

To further ensure the safety of the Austar fleet in the area and to make sure no attacks on the Austar Union are carried out, would your fleet be willing to accept support from a small Tiburonese patrol force?

Riddick had been informed of the message recieved. It seemed as if these Tiburonese people were quite friendly, for they had even offered to send a patrol to assist in the defense of his forces, which were now stationary not too far from the sea level below. Energy was saved, especially when it wasnt particularly needed. And waiting on further orders from Indigo was painful, to say the least. He wanted to move, and to continue to operation as planned, but after specific orders told him to stand by, he could only comply. Now, they could only wait... and reply to the messages they recieved.

Why I can only thank you sir for your humble offer to assist in our defense. May I assure you that we are quite capable in these matters, able to probably fend a full scale attack from any nation within this area. Still, any hand is a lending hand, so I can only accept. I would be rude to decline, and perhaps this can represent further co-operation between our two states even if nothing at all. Truly, your office is worth commending. You make friendly neighbours.

In the meantime, you are welcome to send a representative aboard my fleets to discuss the region in detail, for it may be some time before we hear from the motherland. Our vats are full of wine, and we have no visitors to help us consume it...

Ambassador Nagata and General Ramchandnagar breathed a sigh of relief. Some nations would have interpreted the message as an insult, that Tiburon considered its forces weak, and would try to emphasize that they were not. Then again... some nations were certifiably crazy. Luckily, this nation was much more rational and congenial.

We mean no insult to the Austar Union's forces; we simply wish to lend a hand to another nation. We are quite pleased that our Good Neighbor Policy has not gone to waste, and are quite confident that this can mark the beginning of friendly relations between our two nations.

In a few minutes, the Tiburonese Eighth Havenic Patrol Force of the Tiburonese Space Force will come to escort your ships, and I shall come on board as per your invitation. And once again, welcome to the Haven region.

Allowed by nature, the approaching forces were not fired upon. In fact, they were exposed to something new, something these fleets had not done in a long time. Patching them through to one of the main communication channels, the Tiburonese forces would soon have been able to hear the general messages which patrolling Austarian forces would leave every now and then. And considering the security levels at the moment had a lower profile, most of it was idle chatter while they waited for further commands from Riddick, who in turn was also waiting on commands from Indigo from the motherland.

Riddick stood upon the bridge as he awaited the Tiburonese representative to arrive. He had been sent a message instructing him to come nearby, where the ship's Matter to Particle to Matter beams would instantly transport him inside its deep bowls. Perhaps he would be frightened at the possibility, and perhaps he would not. As far as it was known, they did have space capability, but not too much was known about them as a while. This would indeed be a learned experience for both parties. In the meantime, a rolling message was broadcasted on open channels to any forces who considered Tiburonese Forces an enemy.

OOC: The ambassador's a girl... although most other Tiburonese ambassadors are guys.

IC: The patrol gunship PD-348 made its way ahead of the rest of the small force, and came alongside the flagship of the fleet. Mitsune was unsure of how she was to enter... they didn't have Jump Nodes, did they? Sure, a Jump Node could carry forces across clusters in a matter of minutes, but then why would they need to come up there? She began seeing her hand dissolve into nothingness... and panicked.

No. Not an MPM device!

She never really liked MPM devices... they always made her feel as if every part of her body had "fallen asleep" at the same time.

OOC: Lol, sorry. Common error!

Ah, a beautiful one isnt she? commented Riddick.

This would have been the first thing the lady ambassador would have heard as she appeared, almost magically upon the decks of this ship. She looked slightly disturbed, evidently not used to the travel via MPM Devices. This of course was an Austarian term, probably others had other ideas on what they were called. Anyway.

Yes Commander, she is. Let me to her... cried Alexander in eagerness.

Riddick held his hand out to his left, preventing the man from creaping forward and preying on the guest who had joined them.

Show your restrain Alex, he scowled, You know better than animalistic urges...

Of course, the Tiburonese Ambassador must have been wondering what the heck they were discussing, with the possibility of rape on the agenda. And yet, anyone who knew anything about Austarians, they would know that these men were honerable, noble, and not in the business of raping anyone let alone their guests of honor. No, Alex had maybe a darker desire; he loved to turn those in the living toward the underworld, into a new world of the afterlife. He was a slave to Hades, and Riddick could only hope she had not yet gained realization of the world around her. It didnt seem to, considering she seemed to remain into a state of shock and confusion. No, she hadnt heard their minor discussion, fortunately.

Ah, Esteemed Representative of Tiburon, I am glad you could join us. I am Riddick, and I will be representing Lord Indigo Blue in all matters today. Indigo is the name of our national leader, Lord of the Blood Dynasty. I see you have had quite an eventful transgression onto the decks of this ship? Fortunatly, she had not heard the conversation previous to her being spoken to. It seemed, that she was either completely dazed by the device, one of its effects on people who didnt use them often, or she was a very good liar. Riddick had decided to gamble on the idea that she had absolutley no idea; a wise choice considering it was true. Such a conversation wouldnt be the greatest for a first time meeting, and it was said often, impressions were everything. So far, so good, and Riddick was optimistic.

Pagan art around them, the rooms were certainly dismal and dark. People walked to and fro, and yet there was something different. Vampires haunted this place, and it didnt take a genious to know that this was a race full of them. Having made a deal with the underworld, immortality came at a cost; one of their soul. And yet they remained subtle, beings as if they really did have life within their veins. Not too creepy either; hopefully the ambassador wasnt afraid, it didnt seem so. Anyhow, as they wandered through the endless corridors, they came to a room, decorated immensley with rich mahogany, and the smell of pure leather wafting through and around. Impressive, it was. He directed her to a nice, comfortable chair, where the servants offered her refreshment and something to nibble. Riddick took a cup of red liquid, either the blood of men, or simply, red wine.

I am glad that you could make it. From the very first contacts with your nation, I was impressed at its great attitude toward foriegners. And the offer of assistance, I was also impressed. May I thank you on behalf of Indigo Ma'am, the fruits of your labor will be promised...

The ambassador sighed, knowing that this was going to be the hardest part of this mission. Well, it would have been the hardest part of any mission, but this one stood out in particular. The atmosphere was... not very welcoming, although she knew that she was welcome... at the moment. Pretending to sip the red liquid, she actually smelled what it was to make sure it was... well, what they said it was. Wine. Good. It was wine.

Managing a smile, she ventured, "Yes, well... we try to be as accomodating as possible to any nation that wishes to come to this region... it is quite a dangerous region. Other nations have actually banned shipping here, and while this has not harmed our nation, since we exist in other places besides Haven...

I must be honest with you, Admiral Riddick. Looking at the civil rights and political freedoms of the Austar Union does not give me or my government much cause for celebration- Tiburon does not revel in dictatorships, whether consumerist or communist. And there are a great deal of those kind of nations throughout the region.

...Regardless, we're here now, so we might as well have some good relations. I was pretty impressed with how graciously you took up our offer. Some countries would try to blast us out of the sky. Still, some countries are just nuts. So. We'd like to be of help to your nation, any way we can... is there anything you'd like to know? Oh, and by the way, what were you and that other guy talking about earlier?"
Austar Union
22-02-2005, 02:13
Riddick paused. It wasnt often an Ambassador was so brash to ask a question, such as What were you and the other guy talking about before... Still, other cultures had different ways of doing things, and for global unity to become successful, he recognised that it was only his service to be tolerant. One of his own servants would have been quietly murdered for the same, and it took something to muster up the strength to keep himself under control. Yes, control was probably the greatest challenge today.

... Such things are unimportant gracious Ambassador. But if you must know, we were commenting on how they sent somebody so beautiful to such a dangerous mission. Truly, you must be quite capable. As for our desire and thirst for knowledge, I suppose I am interested in the state of the region. The last time the Austar Union was ever involved was when the war was continuing between the now defunct UnAPS alliance, and the Allanean independant state. We of course, were fighting against the Allaneans in the Axackal theatre. I soley believe that Axackle has remained in Edolian hands due to our efforts in the war. Figures have said that our forces had killed some five million Allaneans, probably about three-quarters of the total death tally. And that was before we step foot upon the battlefield. No nuclear weapons were used on our behalf.

Anyhow, about Haven. Tell me of the region, and your conflict with Hogsweat. I am becoming increasingly troubled about the charater of that nation, and have been considering taking unilateral action myself. We did with Ilek-Vaad, and now they are as quiet as a puppy fallen asleep.

OOC: We're a very informal and friendly people, although we do try to maintain levels of dignity and respect when it comes to official matters. It slips in every now and then, though.

IC: Remembering the whole history of the Axacal War, sometimes referred to in Tiburon as the First War against Allanea, she responded, "Then it would seem that forging a unity would be much easier than I expected... Tiburon, was, after all, and still is an Edolian ally, and we did fight the Allaneans." The footage was quite memorable. Even now, the torture that Tiburonese troops had to face was very much remembered by the nation's people.

You mentioned Hogsweat. We did have a war with that nation... just 6 months ago, in fact. They invaded the Shen-Zhou," (OOC: The white area to the northwest of the Chukraine) "and set off a pretty big war... it took quite a while for us to regain what we lost. If you ask me, they're very imperialistic and warlike. They've only been in the region for about 7 years, but already they've been involved in three major wars- against Scandavian States, Kriegorgrad, and ourselves, and they're probably going to strike somewhere else soon. Three wars in seven years... we've had 15 wars in about two hundred years. Perhaps Tiburon's just a more peace-oriented nation, but something seems to be amiss with them."
Austar Union
24-02-2005, 03:29
Riddick nodded with an all-knowing smile. He too remembered the times when the nation was a state of war and fury. Today, the hearts of these men desired such things, but still it was now regulated, and much control over their very beings had been gained. Yes, these were the better times.

Yes, we too understand the nature of the Socialist Republic of Hogsweat. Believe it or not, we too were a militant state bent on the destuction of others for the better cause of our rise to fame and absolution. Like Hogsweat, the Austar Union had been to war so often we had forgotten the peace behind us, and almost for an entire age we were involved in one battle or another. Victory is sweet friend, and when you have your enemies at their knees you can only laugh at their pleas for mercy. With power, comes corruption, and with corruption comes the overwhelming desire for fame, power, and absolution.

I am under the strong belief that Hogsweat, and the people of, have had their hearts consumed by this desire, and friend, it is dangerous. I fear that they too, like us under this influence, have a sense of unstoppable power. It is only until they are challenged and beaten, that the people of that nation will realise the truth, that they are one in a million, as powerful as everyone else. I do not like to make such judgements, but friend I am coming to the region for such causes. I hope that I have the privilage of showing the wrongs of their ways, with the help of others...

Mitsune slightly moved about a little uncomfortably in her chair. There was something unsettling about it- the air, the mannerisms, "laughing at the pleas for mercy", all cried of sorrow and dictatorship. The feeling, however, came and went, and the talks resumed.

"I cannot speak for the people of Hogsweat- Tiburon's firm belief is that people are always good, regardless of government. But the government itself completely fits your description, Admiral Riddick- in a region of superpowers, they wish to bend their will. It is no secret that Hogsweat has expressed an openly imperialistic and aggressive attitude, and some in the government believe it must be humbled into silence.

There is something I should mention, about not just Hogsweat but also a certain piece of Tiburonese action towards the region at large. We try to be a very diplomatic nation- holding fast to the ideals of freedom, justice, and liberty; attempting to settle disputes with negotiation before devastating an enemy force; and offering mercy and forgiveness whenever justice has been met. Our nation... regularly publishes the Haven Watchlist, which is a list of regions grouped into three categories based on their civil rights and political freedoms. The "approved" nations are those that have both civil rights and political freedoms above average and, the "watchlist" nations are those that have either rights or freedoms above average, and the "URES" nations are the ones that fail to have either above average."

She smiled, with her voice not showing a hint of animosity or sarcasm. "I sincerely hope to see the Austar Union as an approved nation."

14-03-2005, 01:54
Riddick smiled at Mitsune. He understood her clearly, and quite right did not detect any hint of aggression within her last statement, as it was. In the meantime, behind him the doors had opened, and two armed men walked into the room, striding across its vast floorspace toward their leader. Riddick turned, and allowed them to whisper into his ear. Nodding, he gave a quick signal, the wave of his hand, and commanded their departure. And so they left, and only both man and woman remained in this room.

You may be interested actually Mitsune, he responded smiling, with knowledge understood, Indigo is actually in the business lately regarding positive reform, toward a more 'civil' society you might say. As of this moment, the Austar Union can be considered a place you just might not want to live, but as of tommorow, it may also be turned, to a place somewhat like, a civil, peaceful state.

He paused and allowed Mitsune to understand before continuing. There was much more depth to this.

See, under the current regime of darkness, the underworld has us in a clince, a vice you might call it. Evil, darkness, murder, and absolute dictatorism does exist in the Dynasty, I do admit that. But once Indigo returns from the wedding in Iuthia, he has expressed to me desire to change that. We cannot be restrained from becoming our true selves. We may have originated from the underworld, but whom is to call our future, by the past we share...

Anyhow, you might be somewhat interested to know that I have finally recieved future commands from the motherland, meaning this ship will be moving very soon. The land we have been promised has now been cleared, and I am rather glad to be leaving this place. We should be there in just a few minutes. It seems that there was a navigational error and in a malfunction we re-entered the atmosphere far too south. We must make up for lost time. And you must not worry about your escorts, they have been notified and the engines are churning already. I assume you wish to come along for the ride? I can offer you transportation home...

OOC: Check the map, I was actually waiting on Edolia to add a bit to the map and it took forever. But thankfully he got it done, and you will see an area marked as "Austar Outpost" in the very northern bit of the Haven Strait. Thanks to Edolia by the way...

OOC: This is based upon the assumption that Mitsune will come along for the ride. I can re-edit it to incorporate anything different for you.

Promised lands such as these, promised celebrations. And although the crew and engineerers kept aboard these fleets were still hopeful, it was rather unlikely that Riddick would be interested in having a celebration over arriving at the island before them. No, he had greater plans, and much time had to be caught up with. Already, they were behind schedule to the rather unfortunate malfunction in the navigational computer's systems. A freak accident of course, teams at home would make sure such an occurance would never happen again. Fortunately, it cost time, rather than money. Money for this project would already be expensive, and the last, the very last thing Riddick was to do was to waste it.

In the meantime, the fleets which were hovering above the ground were now landed on the island. Strangely enough, for such a bold location it had not been given a name, nor a civilization of which lived upon its shores. Perhaps, there were stories, or perhaps, it was simply meant to be. Such details didnt matter today anyway, for the Mechanical Builders were already being activated, and soon, construction of a secret location was to begin. Truly, this would be the foundations of something greater. Ravenspire.

OOC: Yes, she is coming.

IC: Mitsune stepped down from the Austari flagship onto this new island- Ravenspire. The Arctic breeze was a little chilly, but she decided that she would manage. The RGM-79D (http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/0080/rgm-79d.htm)s that came from the Tiburonese escorts had already begun scanning the rock of the island, to determine the least and most stable areas to build... well, it was their island, their decision to make whatever they wanted.

Mitsune turned to Riddick and smiled, despite the cold. "Admiral Riddick? On behalf of the United Republics of Tiburon, I'd like to congradulate you and the Austar Union on the creation of Ravenspire... and the civil and peaceful future of the Union."

Riddick chuckled, but nodded his head in gratitude.

Haha, well I can only thank you Mitsune, if I may you call you that. I offer you to name me as just Riddick. In the meantime, I would hardly call Ravenspire as completed. As we speak the facilities are being built. If I may reveal to you this, there is a vested interest here. Ravenspire for the most part, will become the single largest military facility in Haven. We arent here just to move in, friend, but we are here for other reasons also. Dont get me wrong though, I have no intention for war or battle. Just defense, of something much more important....

OOC: I ought to stop writing today! Im really not doing well at all!

OOC: I wouldn't say so. Not bad at all.

IC: Mitsune nodded. "Defense is important, I agree, although peace is still something we're actively working towards. Still... it has been shown that entire nations have been military facilities during times of war." She laughed a little bitterly. "Haven is a pure rose. A field of flowers and a field of mines. Whether new or veteran, Havenic nations learn to step carefully or die."

Riddick could only smile at the analogy Mitsune made about the state of Haven. There was harly anything to say anymore. In the meantime, construction of the main structures had almost been completed. At an advanced speed, the island facility would be complete within a week.

Well then, said Riddick. I have much appreciated your company. I hope that I am welcome to visit your office, as you have visited me.

He extended his hand.

Friendship Forever?

Mitsune smiled, and matched the gesture. "Friendship forever- for us, for our countries, for our futures." In the distance, a military helicopter could be heard, preparing to bring Mitsune home again. The mobile suits and small task force had already left, their surveying job done and their data already sent to the people who were going to be living here now.

Mission complete.

Two Weeks Later.
Austarian Outpost
Just North of the Haven Strait

Riddick stood atop the tower. The tower which stood above everything on this island. To the south, was the major site for the military base, of which was currently filled with a mix of ships which sat in the water, and ships which did not. Quite an array of equipment certainly was kept here, and the area was probably one of the most defended of Haven, already. More than just an island, such a location required the top defenses of the state, slightly lesser than that state itself. If something was to occur, this would be the launching point of any assault, or defense of the region of Haven. As the head of this island, Riddick presided ruler, directly answerable to Indigo himself.

Most of the civillians who lived in the north, west, and east districts, worked at the military and diplomatic facilities. And those who were not, worked to keep this place alive, to keep it running and to prevent others from failing. Yes, although an island meant to be also a symbol of peace and an extention of the nation's hand of friendship, also stood for something much more sinister. Fire and Blood, War and Destruction, sat in the belt of this man's robe, as if it were just a tool to be used, like a hammer.
