NENYA, THURSDAY - Politics has long been associated with errors and gaffes, but there are few which stick out amidst the crowd. In historical context, we see American politicians and European politicians making frequent erros, when those two regions were the strongest on the Earth; yet in recent years the torrent has never abated. Who can forget the proclamations of Drum Gods, claiming they would 'conquer the EOTED', who then mysteriously went into isolation when EOTED Allied Forces amassed for a pre-emptive strike?

Or who can forget the almost forgotten leader of the defunct Dominion of Ax-turath, when he claimed possession of the world - and then ordered the world to carry on as it was before?

Yet still, some errors, rather than being amusing, stand out in stark contrast as being alarming indeed. With the current situation in the Commonality (upon which there is a D-notice preventing further news until further notice), the Prime Minister of the Imperial House - an elected official expected to know better - made rather an outstanding gaffe Thursday when he announced, apparently with all seriousness, that the Commonality Armed Forces would be "commencing the assault on Dor Daedoloth in five minutes".

After shocked media personnel had reported the gaffe to their head offices and the soundbite had already buzzed around the Commonality - and no doubt the world - a retraction was quickly issued by the House Speaker, who confirmed that no such action was in fact about to take place. The former Prime Minister has now stood down, and denies mental instability.

"It was just a joke," former Prime Minister Ruthad Shir-Menjda claimed.

Mr. Shir-Menjda now faces criminal charges, and is likely to be stripped of Noble status.

We're sure he sees the funny side.

Lady Palinde blinked slightly as the program passed over her screen. "How...odd...these people need to be more careful who they give cabinet positions to."
