Axis and Allies: 2030 (Signup, open RP)

This is a little RP that I've thought up. It's had varying degrees of success on the EuroIslanders, West Pacific, and Scroll Islands forums, and I figured I'd try it here.

Common Era Twenty Thirty. A time of discord and chaos. The period of strife that had begun 29 years ago continues to intensify. Since the year 2005, great changes have occurred.

The legacy of peace, goodwill, and democracy set into motion by former United States president James McAfee results in a series of uprisings by moderates throughout the Middle East, establishing new democratic states in North Arabia, New Persia, Bahrain, and Qatar, and forcing the governments of Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates to step down, further ushering in a new democratic states. With a much reduced sphere of influence, the extremists strike back- with force. With their backing in Syria, Pakistan, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, they manage to slip through the small border between New Persia and Afghanistan, capturing Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and part of Kyrgyzstan. They also push with full speed into northern Africa, bringing or conquering Libya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Chad, Niger, Mauritania, and most of Algeria. The drastically reduced remaining north African states- Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, and the Western Sahara- band together with the free Middle Eastern states. This new force creates a split between the Republic of Palestine, with the Palestinians who favor peace with the Israelis remaining in the West Bank, while the more militant groups managing to control the Gaza strip. The two Palestinian republics separate. Meanwhile, the remaining sections of Morocco and Ethiopia are silenced into neutrality.

The Atlantic allies, amazed at the sheer power of the new alliance, named Al-Aqsa Islamic Jihad (AAIJ), have completely disbanded NATO to create a new alliance spanning all free nations of the Earth. It is now known as the New Northern Hemisphere Alliance (NNHA). By rallying the free nations, the NNHA gains great military power. They convince Russia, which has long since overthrown Putin but retained the suspicion of Western Europe, to join as an equal member. Despite their apparent power, however, the new momentum and abilities of the AAIJ makes the two alliances nearly equal in power.

Meanwhile, in Asia, the Second Tiananmen Revolution that occurred on the 25th anniversary of the first one created a new Chinese republic, named the Republic of East China. To recover from their loss, the Chinese government launches a massive expansion policy, conquering parts of the now broken Indonesian islands, as well as Malaysia, parts of Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia. They rally Laos (which has overtaken Cambodia), Vietnam, and North Korea into a new so-called communist alliance, the Communist International. Cuba, emboldened by the new alliance, joins and uses its new power to seize the Honduras, Belize, Haiti, and part of the Dominican Republic. The International is now competing with the NNHA and AAIJ for the upper hand in the world conflict.

A group of neutral nations, caught between one or more of the powers, emerges, forming a union. Argentina, Switzerland, Morocco, and Ethiopia begin discussions for organization.

(A note about Antarctica: The NNHA nations (pretty much just the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, and Sweden) that had claims on Antarctica took action on those claims. Argentina was booted out, but, since the neutrals aren't together yet, it's not a big concern for a world amazed at the two-day fall of Libya and most of Algeria. The US doesn't like it either, but they're not about to go and sacrifice the NNHA for some Antarctican land.)
