East Lithuania In Again!

For a third year in a row, the East Lithuanian Sharks are in the U21WC. The past 2 years, they left the tournament in the group stages winless. This year could be worse. During the offseason, both Adam Esposito and Sean Esteve turned 21 and became uneligable for this tournament. They have filled these two spots with 18-year old Alexander Burke and 19-year old Alexander Murrey. Hopefully these youngsters can fill in the spots of the two lost heros of the previous years. There have also been some cut's and fill in's as well.

East Lithuania's Roster Is:

Forwards:
LF-Preston Davis
MF-Matt Ray

Mid-Fielders:

"Ralph."

"Oh, Gareth (Dussis, FALE chief)... yes?"

"The (u21) World Cup's about to get underway.... you'll need to make those phone calls to the players."

"So soon? Oh, damn, I hate this bit."

"Hello? George Conde please?"

"Speaking..."

"Er, you sound a bit old to be 18..."

"I'm not 18, I'm 45!"

"Uh...."

"You must be looking for my son, he's not in."

"Oh, heh. Yes..."

"Would you like me to take a note?"

"Yes, it's Ralph Sirx, manager of the under 21 squad for the Terminators. Your son has been selected to the team."

"That's great news, I'll inform him."

"Yes, thank you, bye..."

"Wow, that was certainly something... only 21 more phone calls to go..."

"Oh God, is this thing happening again?"

"I did write you a memo. Didn't you get it?"

"I got it...but I ate it before reading it."

"What the he-! Why!?!"

"Well, I was watching this film on TV, and this guy got a note, and he ate it because it was a top secret official thingy, so I was kinda wondering what paper tasted like and your memo was the nearest thing."

*stunned silence*

"...Riiigght. Anyway, I was sitting in my office with nothing to do - "

"Do we pay you to sit on your arse and do nothing?"

"Well you seem to have done well from it."

"Fair point."

"So I decided to make some pre-tournament predictions."

"Really? But the group draw hasn't even been done yet! How can you make predictions with absolutely no information?"

"With a brilliant mind and a lot of alcohol. First off, I've predicted who'll be in our group. First Starblaydia."

"Why?"

"Because we've backed them to win."

"Why?"

"I don't know...pity?" (OOC: j/k :))

"Okay."

"Second, will be us, then two non-ranked teams who we've never heard of before."

"Okay, then what?"

"Right, first off we'll beat an unranked team, hopefully with a big juicy scoreline like 10-0, but I'd settle for 1-0 if it meant three points. Then we'll play Starblaydia and lose 3-1. Finally we'll draw with the other unranked team and the other unranked team will beat Starblaydia and somehow finish above us, knocking us out for the fourth tournament in a row."

"What's our success rate in this tournament?"

"Altogether we've played in eight tournaments, not including this one, and got through the group stage...once."

"Wow...that's pretty bad. Any reason why we're so very Very poor at this game?"

"I've got it down to two things: either somebody really really hates us and goes all out to make sure we lose important games, or it's THEM."

"THEM?"

"THEM."

"Who are THEY?"

"Nobody knows."

"Why do they pick on us?"

"I don't know...maybe it's because we sound like a brightly coloured moss."

"Is that your opinion, or..."

"No, it was Iansisle's, but it's pretty good, you have to say."

"Maybe we should have the nickname, the SO Mosses."

"Does 'moss' rhyme with anything offensive?"

"Hmm...boss, doss, floss, toss, loss...can't think of anything."

"What about 'Bross'."

"Oh God, yes, that terrible band. I think we'll review that idea a little later."

"Yes."

"Anything else you wanted to say?"

"No, that was pretty much it."

"Good, now get out. Wheel of Fortune's about to start - oh wait, my carrier pigeon's at the window. Get him for me, would you?"

*gets pigeon, gets clawed, starts bleeding*

"Thankyou. Looks like the group draw's been done. Guess what?"

"What?"

"You were wrong. We're in the same group as Jerusalem."

"That would have been my second choice, seeing as they're the team we've been drawn with most times in our history."

"We've also got Krytenia - have we played them before?"

"Once I think in the Cup Of Harmony as Maserrat. I think we drew 1-1."

"And finally Wella."

"Wella, wella, wella..."

"Don't do that again - it's been done already. We should beat them."

"That's what they said about Gaian Ascendancy, and look what happened there."

"So what do you think now? Will we get through?"

"Well, according to the rankings, we're second favourites to progress, but when there're three ranked teams, it's always difficult. I don't think we'll get through."

"Why?"

"Because we never do! We don't get through in the easy situations - we're not likely to in a hard one such as this, are we?"

"Good point. So you think we should start concentrating on U21WC13?"

"That'd be best I think."

"Okay. So should I just watch crappy daytime TV for the duration of this tournament?"

"Yes."

"Hmmm...oh look, Eastenders reruns. Perfect."

Jeruselem Government News

It's time for the kiddies to play!

Yes, its the U21 championship again. This time XII and Jeruselem want their third crown against the might of Vilita, Reijistania, Bedistan and Starblaydia (and others like Praying2God). After losing to FMPhoenix last time in the 2nd round, the U21 team are hungry to make this one count.

The team is all new and much younger than last tournaments. Will they give Jeruselem a third championship?

Vilita Jungle Kitties Under-21

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 89 ] Manolis Masi [ - Mavaloiao - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

DEFENDERS:

[ 9 ] Andrea Lamberti [ - Jlinal Cove FC - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Lamberti became the youngest player to ever feature for the first team at Arcticala Inlet and has been tipped as the next Giacomo Adika after a high profile transfer to Nusira-Lionta following Vilitan Season 9. At just 17 years old, looked set to be a regular in the Vilitan starting lineup following the semi-retirement of Adika and Enzo Ahat. However, a widely-publicized screw up in World Cup 19 cost Lamberti his position at Nusira Lionta, and he moved to Jlinal Cove.

[ 8 ] Niccoló Mazzeo [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]

DEFENSIVE MID:

[ ] Mauro Capuano [ - Eastal Lunar - ]

[ ] Michele Mariano [ - Jlinal Cove FC - ]
------- DM LC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ ] Daniel Oram [ - Alikki-Corra - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 19 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

MIDFIELDERS:

[ ] Antonis Siazzu [ - Arcticala Inlet - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 3 U21: 1 REG: 0 )
Siazzu is a product of the Yeaddin Owls youth academy, moving on a fully funded loan deal to Melmondian side Titania Forests during the World Cup 19 Qualifiers. The impressive youth midfielder is one of the youngest since World Cup 13 to make a regular starting role in the Senior National Team, taking up the role during World Cup 19 Qualifiers at just 17 years of age. Working under Coach Nigel Chapman, Siazzu was apart of arguably the best midfield lineup in the entire World, taking up a central role alongside Calaesa Mitaroka, with the phenominal Inaki Soler and the always reliable Tanner Nerni on either side. However, Siazzu and Soler left the Owls during the Season 12 Exodus to train independantly and focus on international play. However, after failing to achieve promotion with Alikki-Corra in Season 13, the price on Siazzu's head was to much for the Declasse side to pass up, with the exciting young midfielder moving to Arcticala Inlet for a fee almost double that of the previous record for a Vilitan club.

[ ] Jonjo Hulyer [ - Marine Coast United - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 16 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Jonjo Hulyet is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the Marine Coast academy in many seasons. He is expected to challenge for a place in the Marine Coast Lineup at just 16 years of age, Preferring to attack down the middle or on the left flank.

[ ] Sylvain Emeka-Tuai [ - Strike FC - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Sylvain was a transfer target of Santo Kecker at Strike FC, and was acquired following Terraroka Spirit's relegation to the Declasse division.

[ ] Thierry Columbo [ - Mavaloiao - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Columbo left Lonngeylin Coast in search of first team action with Declasse side Mavaloiao FC. Columbo was an instant hit at the club, and helped lead them to the Declasse Division title and a place in the Stellar Division starting in Season 14.

[ ] Manolis Makunike [ - Strike FC - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ 76 ] Rueben Laberge [ - Iskara Daii (STR) - ]
------- M C ( AGE: 20 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )
Thrusted into the limelight from obscurity, the Daii have hid this kid's talents well. Will form an all-Vilitan central midfield with Antonis Ratuva at the Daii

FORWARDS:

[ 49 ] Tika Massa [ - Makosile - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 15 GOALS::SR: U21: REG: )

[ 41 ] Kris Wrice [ - Inland Peaks FC - ]

[ 47 ] Ippolit Adjei [ - Arcticala Inlet - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 21 GOALS::SR: 0 U21: 2 REG: 1 )
Adjei moved to Arcticala Inlet during the Yeaddin Exodus following Season 12, the first in history that Yeaddin were not in the top 2.

Sarzonia
17-02-2005, 17:31
Sarzonian Junior Stars

Coach: Cal Trottier

ROSTER (starters in BOLD)

GOALKEEPERS:
18 Tom Beneditto (New Daurmont Dragons - amateur): Beneditto served as the reserve goalkeeper on the last World Cup team. At 20 years old, his time to cement a spot in Sarzonian football history is winding down.
39 Blaine Wilcox (no affiliation): Wilcox steps into an unenviable situation with the age-related ineligibility of Harvey Cooley, but at least it's as the reserve goalkeeper. At 17 years old, his time is closing in.

DEFENDERS:
28 Jonah Willard (Woodstock University): Tremendously gifted defender who can play all four positions in a back four, Willard's versatility has earned him a spot on the team at 21 years old.
34 Alain Beaumont (Syossett Scouts): The expansion Scouts signed him to a development contract despite just turning 20 years old after he graduated from high school a year early. He earned his way into the Scouts starting 11 after training camp.
13 Ettore Salivani (no affiliation): This recent emigre from Pacitalia made the team by being a dogged defender and can play either halfback position. This 18 year old is not well-suited to play sweeper.
9 Roger Torotello (Tyrol Tigers - minor league): The first major starter for the national team from the Tigers since midfielder Valentin Kienzl, this 19 year old hopes to follow in his footsteps.
27 Josh Cefcen (Wilmington College): A distant relative of one-time Krytenian national teamer Roger Cefcen, 20 year old Josh shares little of his ancestor's offensive skills, but is an instinctive defender.

MIDFIELDERS
20 Pedro Alomades (St. George): Seemed to be born with a football at his feet. He has ballskills that veteran SFC players envy, but could use a lot of seasoning with a minor league team or the Junior Stars. At 21 years old, he is now one of the oldest of the Junior Stars.
35 Brent Tallisman (St. George): Can play either attacking or defensive midfield for his team and will now be called upon to serve as the playmaker. At 20 years old, he's got a huge future ahead of him.
36 Roy Tinsley (Rypien City College): Tinsley plays defense well enough to play as a defender if needed, but has just enough ball skills to join the attack if the team is out of substitutes. He's 20 years old.
4 Jenna Raven (Paleuma High School): Though she's only 16 years old, she won a starting job with her skill and her maturity. It remains to be seen how she'll handle physical play, especially against the hated Rejistanians.
19 Jarret Sanderson (no affiliation): Labelled as a malcontent, Sanderson has prodigous talent but a bit of a temper. He'll have to curb that to stay on the Junior Stars. He's 15 and acts every bit the part.
22 Larry Cole (St. George): Is able to play defender or defensive midfielder. At 18 years old, he'll have a role on the team for a while.

FORWARDS:
16 Roy Spencer (Endymion State University): Steps in as a starting forward after the previous two forwards graduated from the Under 21 national team. Holds the ball extremely well. At 19 years old, expected to play withdrawn forward.
15 Dave Lord (Crosby College): Lord set a record for most goals by a high school player in a single season and in a career. At 20 years old, the team is hoping that translates to goals on the Under 21 national team.
17 Marshall Hendricks (Woodstock City College): He's the second youngest player on the Junior Stars, only nine days older than Sanderson, but he couldn't be any more different in terms of maturity. He may be on the national team for a long time.

Starblaydia start with 1-0 win
I thought we'd done away with System Karela?

Starblaydia kicked off their 10th Under-21 World Cup (having only missed the first two) with a pretty standard 1-0 win over Haperd. Allegedly Starblaydia are less defensively-minded for this tournament, but you wouldn't know it to see this scoreline from Group F.

Isiah Sodek's first goal for Starblaydia gave them the win, though only after Dwarf Zhorin Tumunzahar left the field with a beard-related injury, getting it caught up on a stray nail sticking out of a Haperd goalpost. The Tabeck FC youth team partnership of Sodek, nineteen, and Florencia Zaragoza, fifteen, looked to be well on song as Sodek scored. This fall-back should prove useful if Sodek and Tumunzahar fail to link-up properly in the two Bekkside Derbies with Legalese and Druida to come.

New Oaker added to lineup

Orion Oaker will be playing in his first Under 21 World Cup. Orion Oaker is a defender who is rumored to have some kind of mythical power. Orion doesn't have much skill most of the time, but sometimes it seems the skies open up and he turns into a machine. The oaker coach is trying to learn the signs of Orions abilities to use him as the ultimate substitue in world cup 20.

Junior Vikings look to stay alive and right the slide of the past few cups

Since Under 21 World Cup 8 happened, Fmjphoenix's U21 squad has been in a free fall, not coming close to the same level of playing intensity. Now, they are faced with the lowest ranking they have been since their first time in the cup. In order to erase this slide, they have to come up against teams they have never played in U21 play. Here is what it looks like for them.

Group H
Fmjphoenix (8)
Kylaai (20)
Giant Zucchini (16)
Pacitalia (10)

The senior squad has expierence against both Giant Zucchini and Kylaai, but have never played Pacitalia. The under 21 squad has been together for a while now, and they only added one new player this year. They have to show that they have the same passion that they had a few years ago to advance further and bring fame to themselves.

"So...how's it going?"

"It's going to plan."

"Okay...is that good?"

"No."

"Oh."

"We played Jerusalem and lost 4-0."

"That really is bad."

"Yeah."

"So we're going out at the group stage again?"

"Yep - eighth time in nine tournaments."

"I don't get it. Is it us? Did we do something bad in another life?"

"We did really piss off Vilita once..."

"Some people would see that as a good thing, though."

"But others would see it as a stupid n00b making themselves look even stupider by arguing with a vet."

"Stupider isn't a word."

"Yes it is."

"No it isn't. Get me that dictionary."

*Thumbs through dictionary*

"Er...where would it be?"

"I imagine it'd be under the Ss."

"Good call."

*Thumbs through dictionary*

"Nope, no stupider. I'd say more stupid."

"Yeah, I don't think the longevity of my vocabulary is the topic of discussion here."

"What is it then?"

"The crapidity of our U21 team!"

"Crapidity isn't a word."

"Yes it is."

"No it isn't. Get me the dictionary."

"Oh dear God."

Some time later

"Can we get back to the tournament now?"

"Hold on a second...okay, having counted the number of words in this dictionary, I have concluded that there are...a lot of them. Now, what happened in the other game?"

"Krytenia 6-1 Wella."

"Wella, wella, wella..."

"You yelled at me for doing that earlier."

"Yes, but this is different."

"How?"

"I'm saying it, and I pay your wages."

*Follows several seconds of hysterical laughter*

"Thank you."

"That's okay."

"So basically, we've got to beat the two teams ranked lower than us. That shouldn't be too hard."

"You know, whenever you say that we always lose to them. This is what'll happen. We'll draw with Krytenia whilst Jerusalem will beat Wella. That means we'll have to beat Wella and then hope Jerusalem beat Krytenia - just like it should be. What will then happen is Wella, who up until that point have been spectators, turn up and beat us, which coupled with a Krytenia-Jerusalem draw send us crashing out again."

"You've got this down to a tee, haven't you?"

"I make notes on napkins."

Streetians Shake Off Lovisan Bogey
That Should Be Bogshijyiskijijshi

A six-three wins for the Apprentices saw the Cockbill Street Under-21 team get off to an excellent start in the twelfth World Cup in Total n Utter Insanity. The Apprentice side haven't quite caught on to the idea of defense that seems to permeate the entire Streetian football at the moment (Jotneheim winning the league by conceding 26 goals, and Kansu Lyku still being coach of the Streetian team), and so, the Streetian U-21 side still conceded three goals. A good effort up front, however, with two goals from Donald Ure and a hat-trick from Jotneheim Mountains' midfielder Boro-silicate (the 17-year-old is rumoured to move to Sjwitz' Deportivo Salst-Gungen in an exchange for Roman Dirgk, the C-mail can reveal), led to a comfortable cushion of a win that the Streetians take into the second match against Evil and all bad doing.

Hiiraan starts out the U21 with a 4-4 tie.... Against some young Livers.
Why the livers will lose this time around.

The Hiiraanian under 21 started out quite hot, it was hot day and a hot match went underway, the Hiiraanian started out fine until the Liverpool England Young livers Started out the Scoring battle at about the 21st minute, Its was 1-0 and 13 minutes late, at about 34 minute, the young ocean blue stars got revenge, when the Mustafa Muslim Scored his First goal this season. Its was, however revenged and the Young livers got their acts together minutes later and disturbed the young ocean blue stars by adding another goal, it stranded at 2-1 at half time... at the point where everyone thought this was going to be the match where low scoring was going to be usual, the Hiiraanian stepped up heat when the added their second goal and made it a tie, in just about 11 minutes into the second half. 12 minutes later, at about 22 minutes in to the second half, the liverporians scored again, making Hiiraan pay for few mistakes that the blue stars made in the deep defending position, the scoring did not end, The young livers added another goal, making it a 2-4 game. At the moment, when the Hiiraanian were surely fined, the Blue stars jumped, going behind some young livers, who in the livery sense, made some liverous mistakes, they changed formed, allowing two of our best players in and un-challenged, the Hiiraanians gave no chances and scored, making it 3-4, few minutes later, we saw more mistakes and more mistakes, however, at the 81st minute, the Hiiraanian tied the game, murham-muhsam scored his first goal, he has been having a great day, assisting two of the 4 goals and challenging the defending livers, those livers had no chance against the ocean blue star, at the first half, it seemed he was having a hard time, he proved the commentators and the rest wrong, when he became the man of the match in the second half, giving Hiiraan and the blue stars their first tie and going after the next team with such a weapon is mindless. Hiiraan intends to use him and his talent to the greatest of its abilities. We now move and hopefully Hiiraan, which is ranked at 5th seed this year, bypassing the sarz and the Fjms, which were thought to be at least 32% greater than the Hiiraanians. The next game is for the future, however, the young ocean blue stars have proven that the livers, whether they are the defending livers, attacking livers or the top livers of the Liverpool England are no matches for the Hiiraanians.

WARRIORS GET TOUGH, BUT MANAGABLE DRAW

The Praying2God Warriors' U21 team drew a fairly tough draw for their fourth appearance in the U21WC. However, this time, they are the top ranked team in their group and #3 in the world after their cinderella run to the U21WC XI Final. The only team in their group that the Warriors have played before is Crystilakere, whom they beat 4-3 in a shootout after a scoreless 120 minutes in the U21WC XI Quarterfinals. Crystilakere retained the #12 ranking they had in the last U21WC, and is joined in the Warriors group by #19 East Lithuania and unranked Raptor Claw. The Warriors are favored by many to make another deep run in this U21WC, and we can only hope the national team takes a lesson from this team and makes a deep run of its own in the next WC.

WARRIORS DECLAW RAPTOR CLAW

The Praying2God Warriors easily defeated Raptor Claw in their opener of U21WC XII, winning by a 2-0 tally, but the match wasn't even that close. Raptor Claw not only didn't manage a shot, but never advanced the ball into the Warriors' half of the field. It was clear to all in attendance that the Warriors were just toying with Raptor Claw and trying to not run up the score too badly.

Shock ran through the Pacitalian soccer team as the U21 side endured a 3-1 loss to lower-ranked Giant Zucchini in full time. Junior Vikings start off on right foot, beat Kylaai's U21s

With the match winding down, Bruce Chen passed off to Arien Vogel instead of trying to go for a hat trick, and Vogel nailed down a shot that hooked right past Kylaai's outstretched goalkeeper for a 4-3 victory to open the Under 21 World Cup 12.

Franklin Carbillo did not play great, allowing 3 goals past, but he was saved by great playing by Chen, Vogel, and Juan Espinoza, as each one scored, Vogel netting two. The match opened up with Kylaai taking an early 2-0 lead with two quick goals by one of their forwards at 12 and 17 minutes. Chen brought some pep to the Junior Vikings with a shot hammered through the legs of Kylaai's goalkeeper to put something on the board at 24 minutes. Kylaai would put one more through though, as time was ending in the second minute of time stoppage. At the half, the Junior Vikings went into the locker room looking dejected and unmotivated.

But the same Junior Vikings that went into the half looking down, came back from the intermission looking up, and they looked ready to play. Espinoza took a deflection from the Kylaain side and converted it into a goal to bring Fmjphoenix within 1 goal at the 56th minute. That one goal was netted by Chen when he launched what looked like a pass from close to midfield, but took a wicked turn on a rock in the box to bounce past and tie it up 3 all at 70 minutes. But when all was said and done, it was Vogel, the youngest player on the squad, to show poise, and also Chen, who sacrificed his possible first hat trick to allow Vogel to take the better angled shot and win.

Young Islanders off the mark

The Colony of Funny Looking Islands started their bid for the the U-21 championship with a good win over a decent Oliverry side, beating them 2-1. Oliverry went ahead on the 34th minute due to a well taken free kick just outside the box which rocketed into goalkeeper Ted Whites top right corner. The Islanders showed great heart and determination though to battle back and make the score level on the 43rd minute due to a superb solo effort from 18 year old David Gilmore, a player who is causing a lot of excitment in the Funny Looking Island Premier League.Half-Time: Funny Looking Islands 1 - 1 Oliverry.
The Islanders came out a stronger side in the second half and played a much more fluid passing game. The Oliverry side seemed to struggle with the adjustment to the team, changing the formation to a 4-3-1-2 formation. The winner came in the 69th minute when the 20 year old Andy White(Full back) got on the end of a superb Rob Franks(Left Wing) cross to header the ball into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance.Full-Time: Funny Looking Islands 2-1 Oliverry.

Radolno defeats Pacitalia

Real Navara striker Radolno became the new Giant Zucchini hero with a stunning two-goal salvo that earned Giant Zucchini their first victory in the Under-21 World Cup 12.

Radolno struck gold in the 33rd and 56th minutes after Massimo Da Scupeta had put the visitors ahead against the run of play in the 27th minute.

Radolno went off to a standing ovation just after the hour mark after a stunning full performance for the Young Zucchinis.

His replacement, Stenilroy, then completed the scoring eight minutes from time with a delightful chip over the Pacitalia goalkeeper.

Radolno took just three minutes to show his potential with a rising drive from 20 yards after good work involving Larkos and Krisradolno.

Giant Zucchini's bright start continued in the fifth minute when full-back Natezi forced the Pacitalia goalkeeper into action with a header from six yards.

But it was Radolno who began to cause the opposing defence all kinds of problems with his strength and pace in attack.

Pacitalia had to be quick to cut out a dangerous cross from the Navara striker as the Zucchinis pressed for an opening goal.

Pacitalia were restricted to the occasional counter-attack but found that Derfindan and Stena in no mood to let them have any freedom.

Yet for all Giant Zucchini's possession they lacked the creative spark to test the Pacitalia rearguard and much of their fine approach work was undone by a poor final ball.

With space at a premium in the middle of the park, Naldorino was unable to flourish and Giant Zucchini's frustration was beginning to increase.

That frustration was heightened in the 27th minute when Pacitalia took the lead against the run of play.

Da Scupeta stunned the home fans when he sent a deft glancing header into the roof of the net from an inswinging corner.

But the Zucchinis were level two minutes later and it was that man Radolno who supplied the finishing touch with some style.

A superb cross from the right-wing by Krisradolno caused panic in the Pacitalia defence and while they hesitated, Radolno stole in to plant a firm header beyond the Pacitalia goalkeeper.

Pacitalia thought they had gone back in front three minutes before the interval but Massimo's goal was ruled out for a clear handball against the Pacitalia player.

But his disallowed effort inspired his team-mates to enjoy their best spell of pressure as the interval approached.

Radolno was again at the heart of all Giant Zucchini's best moves as the second half began and in the 55th minute, he brought a further save from the goalkeeper in the Pacitalia goal with a swift shot on the turn from 20 yards.

But a minute later his touch was perfect as he put the Zucchinis in front for the first time in the game. He capitalised on excellent work by Nery to fire into the roof of the net from point-blank range to the delight of the fans.

Pacitalia still had plenty to offer though and they warned the Zucchinis that they remained a potent threat when they despatched a 20-yard shot that flew inches over the crossbar.

In the 61st minute Radolno's dreams of a hat-trick were dashed when he was substituted to a standing ovation. Stenilroy replaced the new Zucchini star who appeared to be limping as he headed down the tunnel.

The Zucchinis were leaving themselves exposed at the back while they pursued a decisive third goal and Pacitalia were determined to exploit the gaps.

In the 66th minute, Pacitalia forced Esh into a fine save at the foot of his right-hand post and the Zucchini keeper had to be quick to deny Da Scupeta as he burst clear of the Zucchini defence three minutes later.

But Radolno's replacement, Stenilroy, finished off Pacitalia and secured all three points for the revitalised Zucchinis.

He supplied the perfect finish to a wonderful pass from Fud by chipping the ball beyond the advancing Pacitalia goalkeeper for the third.

Final score:

Giant Zucchini - 3
Radolno (34, 57), Stenilroy (83)

Pacitalia - 1

Group B lopsided games ...

We didn't tell you abput the U21 XII Championship group? Jeruselem were drawn in Group B with our hapless friends South Osettia as well a Krytenia and Wella who we have met before. This group does look a little lopsided and well, Group B is looking that way.

Jeruselem beat up on South Osettia again with 4-0 win to start well. Usually Jeruselem start slow in the U21 championships. Poor old Wella ran into an ambush when Krytenia ran amok 6-1. It's looking good for Jeruselem so far.

The started really slow with young team trying to break into the Osettian defense but unable to make the decisive pass count. They sped up the game to get a result and things changed. After some long range shots flew wide, one finally eluded the Osettian keeper and the Osettians crumbled afterward.

South Osettia are the 13th seed, so maybe this was why they played so badly. Jeruselem are *only* the 6th seed and you don't expect such a lopsided result

-------------------The Vilita Jungle Kitties made easy work of their opening opponents in the World Cup Under 21 Championships, Evil and All bad doing. It was the first meeting between the sides, and Vilita conceded an uncharacteristic trio of goals to the Internationstatal newcomers, but a pair of goals from rising star Tika Massa, Strike FC's Sylvain Emeka-Tuai and Mauro Capuano, as well as a goal from Antonis Siazzu saw Strike power an impressive seven goals over their lowly opponents.

The Jungle Kitties looked prime to advance to the next round, with only Cockbill Street in their way. A win against Cockbill Street would all but seal their fate in the second round.

Junior Stars 'embarrassed' in loss

Coming off a World Cup in which the team again advanced past the second round, the Sarzonian Under 21 national team expected better things from the World Cup, particularly against their colonial juniors from Talzeckia. Unfortunately, the Ripplers got their international careers off to a great start by defeating the Junior Stars 2-0.

Coach Cal Trottier kept the door to the locker room closed after the match and refused to speak to the media. He also barred the media from the locker room, which is sure to draw a fine from the Incorporated Football Federation. Sources close to the team said the coach is planning a "sea change," in the team's starting lineup for their next match.

"He was absolutely livid after the match. The lads got an earful," the source said. "He was embarrassed the team lost to Talzeckia, of all teams."

Coming into the tournament, the team had its eyes on hated rivals Rejistania, and even possibly had Pacitalia in its sights, but after the loss to the Talzeckis, they might not even get far enough to think about those other matches.

"We have to get our heads out of our asses," IFF Chairman and former Under 21 national team coach Terry Mangione said. "Cal knows it. The lads know it. They just have to do it."

Defense, what defense?

Match day 2 for the U21 XII Champions. Would you believe Group B produced 14 goals? No, but it's too true.

South Osettia scored three goals in it's game against Krytenia and still managed to lose as they let in 5 goals. The loss means the poor old South Osettians cannot make the next round even it is beats Wella on Match Day 3 with a 9-0 win. The 13th seed is cursed.

Well Jeruselem scored 3 goals, but unranked Wella matched Jeruselem all the way. The defense was leaky and the keeper Cheney saved the day with a man of the match performance. The strikers did their job, but the midfield failed to fire as the two Shrubbes had an patchy game.

Speaking of funny scores, ever heard of 9 ALL draw? Oaker played Kipto-Mare and that's what happened. Rumours were there were not many players left on the field after the game and the ref had to get spare red cards.

Zucchinis Clinch Knockout Spot

Ten-man Giant Zucchini contrived a thrilling fightback as they recovered from two goals down at half time to snatch a knockout stage spot under manager Nebitez.

Naldorino did the trick with a stunning free-kick from 25 yards which took a slight deflection after the Zucchinis had trailed sheepishly to a Kylaai double before the break.

Naldorino started the match on the bench, possibly to save him the upcoming clash with Fmjphoenix.

However, it eventually dawned on Nebitez that Naldorino was needed sooner than that. He also set up Giant Zucchini's equaliser with a superb cross which enabled Nery to claim a double of his own even though his first, just after half-time, would never have gone in but for Kylaai's reluctant and probably unknowing intervention.

Kylaai's misery was complete when Maldarp made it 4-2 with virtually the last kick of the match after arriving as another substitute.

His smashing strike sailed beyond the hapless Kylaai keeper.

Nebitez's new-look team had looked good with an enterprising start in which Krisradolno and Nery probed away at the Kylaai defence and Radolno prowled with intent around the penalty area.

Kylaai's opening goal, a simple tap-in after Rem carelessly gave the ball away, might have been just a blip in the 24th minute.

Giant Zucchini almost repaired the damage immediately when Fud's header from a lovely cross by Natezi just about cleared the Kylaai crossbar.

But the Zucchinis were stunned by a second Kylaai goal in the 29th minute and left facing a considerable uphill task.

A Kylaai run was spotted, supplying a perfect ball for the winger to outpace Derfindan and shoot low beyond the desperately advancing Esh into the far corner.

It was definitely luck which sparked the Giant Zucchini comeback in the second half. Just three minutes after the break, with full-back Natezi having collected the first of his two cards for a foul on Kylaai, an attempted cross-cum-shot by Nery took a mighty deflection off a defender’s backside and looped over the Kylaai keeper.

Still, Kylaai looked as though they could keep the points until Nery struck again, shooting into an empty net after the goalkeeper palmed away Krisradolno's diving header in the 71st minute.

Kylaai looked favourites again when Natezi was given his marching orders with 14 minutes to go - only for Naldorino to work his magic three minutes later and Maldarp to apply the gloss.

Final score:

Kylaai - 2
(24, 30)

Giant Zucchini - 4
Kylaai (50) (og), Nery (71), Naldorino (79), Maldarp (90)

World Cup 20 host-kids sew up Group F

With two wins from two, both Starblaydia (2) and Druida (10) are fighting for the honour to take the top spot in Group F.

Sodek, De Montford, Fuinbar and subsitute Zaragoza all got on the scoresheet for Starblaydia, though the name of Zhorin Tumunzahar is still conspicuous in its absence. Though his brother, Dagnir, is doing rather well in the Cherry Cup, Zhorin has failed to increase on his Five International Goals so far. Rumours abound that he may be dropped in favour if Zaragoza or Mitrofanis for the Second Round match if he fails to perform against Druida in the Group decider on Matchday Three.

WARRIORS WRAP-UP 2ND ROUND SPOT

The Praying2God Warriors wrapped-up their fourth straight appearance in the second round of the U21WC with a 1-0 triumph over East Lithuania in a match that wasn't even close. Again, the Warriors just toyed with their opponents, as their opponents never crossed midfield. The Warriors scored early, and then faded back to play a total all-out defense. The Warriors will play for the group title in their next match against Crystilakere, who has also wrapped up their spot in the 2nd round. It should be a great match, as the teams met in the quarterfinals of U21WC XI, with the Warriors winning in a shootout.

Junior Vikings show bad side in loss, need to regroup for final

With a 3-1 loss agianst an unknown side from Pacitalia, they need to regroup and rebound if they want to continue to be in the second round, as they have all but once. One consolation was that Dave Daniels scored his first international goal for Fmjphoenix. But with this match over and done with, the Junior VIkings are looking forward.

They have to play the unbeaten Giant Zucchini side that seems to be playing flawlessly. It is going to take a major regrouping effort to come back and get into the second round. They need to hope for a loss from Pacitalia and they need at least a draw against GZ to advance. As long as Fmjphoenix matches what Pacitalia does, but has more goals, they should advance.

Arthur knocked on the door. "Come in", called the voice of Legalese Men's National Team Manager Robbie Heard. "Ah, Arthur, what's happening?"

"I just got off the phone with Ken, actually, and figured I'd tell ya how the little kids are doing."

"How is that, Arthur? I know that was a young side you sent over there."

"Well, getting drawn with Starbladyia and Druida didn't help. In fact, we lost to both, and are out of it, after the match with Haperd."

"That's a shame. How'd they play?"

"About as well as we can expect. Kirk got a lot of practice in the goal, and had a save percentage of 82%!"

"Well that sounds good."

"Not quite, actually. Fifty shots were taken on him in these two games, so that's nine goals we were down."

"Did we at least make some of it back on offence?"

"Afraid not, Robbie. We're looking at three total goals scored, one on the Druids, and two on the Starblaydians. Heck, we would've been better off playing true derbies with them, rather than the flight to Total n Utter Insanity."

"Arthur, you remember why I last was in TnUI. Unless qualifying takes us back, I don't want to re-live the memories. Who scored the goals?"

"Pedro Vasquez. The media's taken to calling him 'el Toro', since he really tears it up out there."

"Tears it up? Hope the rest of the side can learn from his example. I need some good men for qualifying. Heck, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with Jim's reserves. How're things going on starting the new pro league?"

Pacitalia: a chance to advance

After losing 3-1 to the unknowns from Giant Zucchini, the national U-21 side pulled together and played fantastically like they should have in the first game. However, no one is complaining right now, as the team evened out its goal differential and record with a 3-1 win of its own over 8th seed Fmjphoenix.

The 10th seeded Pacitalian side improves to 1-0-1 / 4 - 4 / 0 / 3 pts in the round robin phase, after their first-ever loss in this stage of a U-21 cup.

"Wonderful play from this side today," remarked Coach Santo Castorini. "I was totally surprised and proud at how well they came back from that loss. Their style was excellent, their sportsmanship high and the game was completely devoid of major mistakes and illegal contact."

With that, the coach also remarked that in secret he and the national team's management agreed to keep him on past WC16, a major accomplishment for Mr. Santo Castorini, who has been coaching various national Pacitalian sides for over 20 years.

"I guess that solves the coaching problem, doesn't it?", he added, chuckling.

Pacitalia has a chance to move on to the second round for the second straight time but first it must hold this same Fmjphoenix team off by beating Kylaai in the third and final game of the round robin.

To accomplish an advancement, Pacitalia must also hope that Giant Zucchini beats Fmjphoenix (which would make GZ 3-0-0 in the tourney) to relegate Fmjphoenix to 1-0-2 and a third-place finish in the round robin.

From the Sports section of The Daily NewSjwitz:

U21WC12 Update

For the first time in the history of Sjwitz a youth team has been sent to represent the national team at the world cup. The youth training in Sjwitz is very well enhanced and Sjwitz was given a status as seeded team. 21st and last seed however, but still, seeded. This also resulted in a draw with the first seeded team Rejistania. Two unseeded teams, Oaker and Kipto-Mare, were the big unknowns to the Sjwitz players but gave a glimpse of hope to qualify as number two in the group behind Rejistania, but things didn't turn out as how they were planned.

First the Squad of coach Gino Davis got clobbered by a storming Kipto-Mare side, more motivated as ever. Coach Davis: "Losing is ok and we made 5 goals that's superb! But getting 6 against, that's just idiotic. And we played All Out DEFENCE! It just proves that this group has great talent, but they're still a bit young to stick to the tactics. We should have won it easily. Oh well, we played great against Rejistania!" And indeed they did, a superb 0-0 against Rejistania, the number one seed and biggest favorites for the world title were held to a draw. The AoD tactics were superbly applied and Sjwitz even had a few small chances to score.

Standings in the Sjwitz group are now as follows:

Rejistania 2 1 1 0 2 0 2 4
Kipto-Mare 2 1 1 0 15 14 1 4
Sjwitz 2 0 1 1 5 6 -1 1
Oaker 2 0 1 1 9 11 -2 1

With a match against Oaker left the chances are still there for Sjwitz to become Second. Rejistania is expected to beat Kipto-Mare so if Sjwitz can just manage a 2-0 victory then they are sure of qualifying.

Subs in second half:

Changed to 541 against Rejistania by replacing Smit for Ack

Expected formation against Oaker: same 451, maybe changing to 442 again or even 433 for some more offensive power. Mostly the team has been playing all out defence so far however and it's unlikely coach Davis will change tactics.

"We.... kinda..... scored five goals and lost."

"We WHAT!!!?"

"We lost 5-8, Gareth."

"You're kidding me, right? What're our chances of making it in?"

"Quite optimistic. We're playing Turori. A huge win over them, coupled with a TBF or Hiiraan win - they play against each other, a draw would do us no good - would see us through."

"Okay, that's good. Finish those phone calls, will yah?"

Hiiraan Gets A Win Over The Turori Eels.
While The Old Rival Livers Live On Through Another Lose.

The Hiiraanian men came on the field knowing a lot about the Eels, who have been dominating on the WC and other venues as the U21, The Hiiraan men just block the Eels Achievement and Focused on its weakest link, the Left Center. Which virtually had no one but couple of players who were best left at home. The Hiiraanian men Cracked up the game aggressively on the first half when Mohamed Jallil started advancing on the center, passing the ball to forward Khallid ahmadey, who in fact crossed and maneuvered through one of the players who were best left at home. At about the 23rd minute the Hiiraan men started the game with their first goal, adding another one in the same goal in about 12 more minutes, making the game stand at 2-0 at the 34th minute, the Eels, however did not stop there, they went on, at about the 35th minute Jiateo Kansu-Ramzi got the ball and made history with it, as he scored his first ever goal against Hiiraan in a tournament, The goals did not stop there however, Hiiraan and Changing player Hamid-Sufi came out of no where when he made 3-1 at the Half time.

While players left the stadium for the rest and re-organizing, the commentators cheered about the Hiiraanian men efforts to finish out the game out right in the first quarter, The men came back to the field, just minutes later and re-started the match, this time the Hiiraan seemed little more organized passing the ball through the cracks and chips of the eels while still keeping on, in the 62nd minute, Mohamud Khallid scored, making the game at 4-1 in just 12 more minutes at the 74th minute, the eels added another goal, making the game a reachable 4-2, however the dreams of the eels were dashed when Hamid-al Sufi came from the same spot at the same speed and crushed in another goal, making the game unreachable once more, the teams played couple more minutes and about 2 minutes of extra time, closing out the game was Hiiraan wining, making the game 5-2.

On other news, The liverporian livers have lost tot he Belmore family, a team we plan on facing tomorrow, the young liverporian livers have lived through horror seeing Hiiraan defeat Turori and then see themselves lose to the belmore family, a team we plan to face tomorrow. We hope the livers a much like on coming with us, as we plan to make their lives a living hell in the next few games. The livers have no idea that Hiiraan like alcohol is bad for its health.

O'Toole set for Historical Battle
Clash with Former Rival and Funny Looking Islands

-----------------Vilitan Under-21 Head Coach and former Marine Coast United midfielder Baron O'Toole will be relishing the chance to clash head to head for the first time on an international level with one of his former rivals. O'Toole and Lorenzo Mumamba, head coach of the Funny Looking Islands Under-21 team, played many matches against each other in the Vilitan Stellar Division while Mumamba played for Tivali City. Mumamba recently retired from the playing and coaching staff at Tivali City, and put his focus on international management in the Funny Looking Islands. Now he will get the greatest test of all, as he will have to lead his team up against the Very experienced Baron O'Toole and his Vilita Jungle Kitties, some of whom were involved in Vilita's World Cup 20 championship run in Druida. It will be the first ever meeting between the two sides in any competition.

Under 21 Second Round:

Vilita Jungle Kitties v. Funny Looking Islands
Sjwitz
19-02-2005, 17:13
From the Sports section of The Daily NewSjwitz:

Sjwitz crashes out

Coach Gino Davis saw his side go down 2-0 in a match that was entertaining for about 7 minutes and 36 seconds. At that time Oaker scored the 2-0. The Sjwitz 5-man midfield got overpowered and found it difficult throughout the whole match to simply gain possession, let alone set up an attack.

As predicted the winner of the match got a ticket into the second round since Rejistania beat Kipto-Mare easily with 6-1. Oaker go trough and will play Hiiraan for a ticket in the quarterfinals. Remarkably Oaker are the only non-seed to go through, which ads to the disappointment amongst the Sjwitz fans.

Coach Davis has concluded that: "Our defence was not bad, I think Sjwitz is one of the teams with the least goals against that is not progressing to the next round. But that just adds to our weakness: the attack. Only two teams have scored less in this tournament, funny thing is they both progressed too." said he with a sour smile on his face.

Knowing that the most players have a few years left before they become too old, Coach Davis will probably not change his team drastically for WC13. Neutral observers think the formation and tactics will just be changed. Whatever it will be, the results need improving. Although coach Davis and his team have been given a lot of credit for holding Rejistania to a draw.

For the record, the formation against Oaker, as predicted earlier:

---------------Turorian native Niauo Yididea has been found playing in the Cockbill Street lower leagues and immediately flown to Total n Utter Insanity to add to the Turori Electric Eels squad before their big second round matchup with Rejistania. There are now five players named to the Turorian roster, and a bunch of locals posing as Turorian's despite a lack of knowledge from tournament officials. The official Turorians are Yidiea, Mikel from Legalese, Christian Briyjao, part Cockbill Streetian, Ebbow Dakin, the star goalkeeper and backup for the Yeaddin Owls in Vilita, and Part-Rejistanian breakthrough player Jiateo Kansu-Ramzi, who looks set to be a starter in the World Cup 21 Turori squad.

Pacitalia advances again, wins its group for the second straight time

The national side made it to the second round for the second straight U21 cup, with a 5-1 win over Kylaai. It capped a brilliant recovery by the U21s after a devastating 3-1 loss to an unknown side from Giant Zucchini, who ironically, after great play in the first two games, lost its last match to Fmjphoenix 3-0 and will not advance.

Pacitalia jumped from last place in the group (after the loss) to a tie for first and takes first spot in the advancement bracket from the group because of goal differential. Giant Zucchini is only out of the cup because of this statistic.

Goals in the Kylaai match from Nicusor Petru Vasilica, Andreos Charisteas, Massimo da Scupeta and Bertrando Massimatto capped off an excellent closing performance by Pacitalia.

Pacitalia plays the other 10th-seed, Druida, in the second round and it is certainly hoped that Pacitalia can get past the second round and into the quarterfinals, something they did not achieve last time around, losing 1-0 to Praying2God in the World Cup 11 "seconds".

"What do you mean - we won!"

"Yeah, but 4-3 against Wella! Krytenia beat 'em 6-1. Why couldn't we do that?"

"No-one wants us to win anything significant. We're the laughing stock of the footballing world at the moment. You honestly think we're going to beat someone 6-1? The most we're going to win any game by is three goals. Ever. Period."

"Well thank you Mr...Mr..."

"Pessimism?"

"That'll do for now. I say, why do we bother with this competition anyway? We're never going to get through - we might as well not bother. I say we boycott the next one."

"We're already entered for the next one."

"Can't we unenter?"

"That's not a word."

"Don't let's get started on that again! Well...I suppose we'd better not let the fans down...but if we don't get through this time, I'm going to give the order to napalm a country."

"Which one?"

"I don't know...I'll think about it, get back to you on that."

"So...what do we do now?"

"We wait for the next competition to start."

"What...wait...right here?"

"Yep."

Street Avoids Mess-up
Squeeze Into Second Round

Cockbill Street's Apprentices made the second round of the Under-21 Championship through a bit of luck, coming back from 2-4 down to take their final group game against Evil and all bad doing by 5-4. In a desperate attempt to win the game as the Karela-like defence had backfired, the manager substituted Phyllosilicate for striker James Chitterling, and Chitterling scored two goals off the bench to become the hero. Later, it turned out that a draw would have been enough, as Lovisa failed to beat Vilita by more than 2-0 - they needed a 5-2 victory at the very least to overtake the Streeters, and that was if the Apprentices drew their match.

Captain Sodalite, who plays in his third U-21 World Cup, was pleased with the match, but not with the draw. "We could have been luckier than getting Sarzonia - they've always had a strong youth team. We just gotta fight and play at our best - Talzeckia made it against them, so why shouldn't we manage it?"

Hiiraan Takes Out The Belmorians.
While The Turori Eels Advances Into the Second Round with Hiiraan.

Hiiraan has nothing else but dominated the game from start to finish...it made a careers, killed careers and made all star players, The Hiiraan man not only won the game but greatly humiliated a team that brought nothing else but the F game, for all the Hiiraanian out there clearly know what F game does to you.

The First half was dominated by the Hiiraanians when Khallid, Mohamed, Mustafa, And Murham all scored one goal each, While the Belmorians Scored their two goals in the first quarter, the Hiiraanians Just added on the goals until it reached embarrassment level for the Belmorians.

Its rumored that Football association and the HFF will soon present a Bid for the WC22, a Rumor yet to be acknowledged publicly by both team, "The Belmorians are the best team to team up with to create a dominate team that will win and host a cup" said chairman of the HFF "but we have no answer to your question, who knows, it may happen, it something that is 'likely' just not now." he added few minutes later.

A lot players have been succeeding in the Hiiraanian football way, we may just top the U21.13 list of seeded team next year, who knows, all we know is that after the WC, which starts on Monday officially will be and will stay something that will not be messed with. Hiiraan has officially stepped its game, and so far, as it seems no challenger has step up with Hiiraan.

In other news the liverporian livers... well people, we can waste another whole article on a team filled with filth, their 'A' game is weak, they have no players against Hiiraan and while Hiiraan tops its list, they sit in some Airplane going back to their stinking streets. This team is the team that claims to be our "Rival" the truth is they have never been to the Hiiraanian rival and their game seriously does not compare to the 'Hiiraanian rival' level. We try to compare ourselves each day with a team that is not comparable to us. They are simply garbage! Weak team, as we have said before, we are the alcohol, and we are bad for you health livers.

OOC: LE… I know you are going to cry here and there because of the article, this is an IC thing, and if you are so Icphopic, may be you should stop Rping. Anway, I am just saying, this is an IC thing, not a personnal thing. Or an OOC thing.

Young Guns Go For It

Almost undetected on the Krytenian sports radar, the Young Caleys have reached the quarter-finals of the XIIth World Under-21 Cup after four successive victories.

Krytenia started in blistering style with a six-one victory over Wella, then followed this with a 5-3 victory over South Ossetia and a hard-earned one-nil win over Jeruselem to take maximum points in the group.

A two-nil result against a resurgent Praying2God now sees them in the last eight - can the surprise package continue their run into the semis? Hiiraan or Oaker await...

When losing is GOOD

When Jeruselem lost to 17th seed Krytenia in the final game of the qualifying stage to finish 2nd in Group B, alarm bells were ringing. They weren't scared of Wella winning as South Osettia won 4-3 so Jeruselem were always in the 2nd round. Form was bad, and the young new team were choking.

They met 12th seed Crystilakere in the 2nd round, but Krytenia was scheduled to play Praying2God the 3rd seed, so the loss wasn't all bad. Jeruselem's record against P2G isn't good so losing to Krytenia proved the better option but the Crystils aren't a sham team either.

Well, Jeruselem made it into quarter finals again beating the Crystils 2-0 to bounce back from the last two dodgy games. They were back to their better form and the strikers managed to do the damage against a good Crystil defense.

Now Jeruselem play Rejistania or Turori, and readers should know who they would prefer.

Orange-Blues defeat Oaker

The Young Orange-Blues started their debut in the U21WC12 victorious. Kadamy Kansu scored twice against the 'inbreds' from Oaker (or is there another name why everyone in that nation has the same last name?). Coach Myk Linkosa again preferred a defensive 6-3-1 tactic, proving that the "Karelatux"'s tactical preferences were not as defensive as they could be. The first time, Kansu'he headed a a corner kick of Nana Kansu past the Oaker in goal, Torry Oaker. The Rejistanians had not many chances after that situation since they left their half not very often. A counter attack in the last minutes of the match led to the second goal for the Orange-Blues.

Starblaydia make Semi Finals for 4th Time
Fourth Time lucky perhaps, as Third didn't work?

Starblaydia, last time we checked, had just sewn up Qualification to the Recond Round by winning two on the bounce. Up came the challenge of the Spectrums, Druida's Under-21 team. With Dwarven Number 10 Zhorin Tumunzahar not on the scoresheet as of yet, rumours abounded over whether a poor performance in the Druida match would see him dropped from the team.

Tumunzahar, however, put in a stellar performance, cashing in with a Hat-Trick as Starblaydia repeated their 4-2 scoreline of the previous Matchday. Captain for the tournament, Gbena Ogunniya also chipped in with his first goal of the tournament, giving Starblaydia a perfect 3-0-0 record for the Group Stage.

Up next, for the Second Round, Starblaydia faced the young'uns of Fmjphoenix, the team Starblaydia beat in last-time's Third-Place Play-off to take their consolation prize. Five-One we destroyed them last time, but the Junior Vikings have certainly improved as Starblaydia were kept to just a 2-0 win, Zhorin Tumunzahar and substitute Juan Miguel Aguilera got the goals, Aguilera with his first and Tumunzahar's fourth of the Competition.

Then the Quarter-Finals came a-knocking, as Starblaydia squared up to an old enemy, Sarzonia. Though Isiah Sodek and Gbenga Ogunniya both got on the scoresheet, Sarzonia's Twinkley-Little-Star-Kid-Things also scored twice. With the match squared Two goals to Two at the end of the ninety minutes, it went to extra time. Starblaydia (4-0-0, we rock) surged into the lead and took the game with their third Four-Two scoreline of the Championship as Tumunzahar and Tyree Vang put Starblaydia Under-21s into their fourth Semi-Final in the Under-21 World Cup history. A match, might I add, that Starblaydia have never won. Fourth time lucky, for the nation who's Under-21 programme has just been rated the best in the World?

Wouldn't bet against it.

The fun couldn't last much longer...

Pacitalia failed to advance past the second round yet again, losing 6-4 to Druida in regulation, in what was at least an entertaining event.

Druida had the lead to start, scoring in the 10th minute off a miscue in the Pacitalian defence. But midfielder Bertrando Massimatto brought the home side back into the game in the 17th, with a beautiful arch over the Druidan goalkeeper to make it an even match.

The U21 Pacitalians pulled ahead in the 29th with a quick give-and-go in front of the Druidan net before Massimo da Scupeta put the ball in for the only lead Pacitalia would enjoy during the game, 2-1.

Only forty-five seconds later, however, Druida responded with a sweet goal of their own. They followed that up with a scorcher from 40 yards out just 3 minutes later. 3-2 was the score heading into halftime.

Druida came out of the gate quickly again, scoring on a corner kick in the 50th, making it a 4-2 affair and nearly icing the Pacitalian hopes to advance. However, Andreos Charisteas, the latter half of the Dynamic Duo, brought the fans back into the match with a sweet header in the 61st, 4-3 the score.

However, Pacitalia fell to a disadvantage when midfielder Eusebio Pancrazio was ejected from the match in the 63rd after drawing his second yellow of the match for tripping a Druidan forward on a breakaway. Down to just ten men, the Pacitalian side was unable to catch up and let in a further two goals to bring the score to 6-3 and definitely ice the hopes of advancement.

Charisteas added his second of the game in the 88th but by then it was obvious to everyone that Pacitalia again would fail to make it through the second round.

The final score: Pacitalia 4 - 6 Druida.

It is certainly hoped the team will work extremely hard to get the team past the second round next time, and that at least an increase in seed positioning for the next cup will come out of this match.

Scoreless against Sjwitz

Don't ask us to pronounce that name, we cannot. The ASR officials and players had much problems and resorted to saying min (they) or Sij(e)vis (which is a sorry attempt to pronounce the unpronouncable). As far as we know, the Sjwitz team had similar problems with our language. Despite the unknown language, the tactics are well known and liked: System Karela. The match was not one of the exciting ones, whith really high scores, since the Young Orange-Blues used a similar tactic. For parts of the match, it resembled that a 0:0 was agreed on before the match already. but in other parts, both Sjwitz and Rejistania were only saved by luck or the bell (or rather whistle). Midfielder Veil Hiirijiil had the best chance for the Young Orange-Blues in the 74th minute in a counter attack but his shot was too high. Eventually, the match ended 0:0.

The Colony of Funny Looking Islands today performed an incredible feat, beating defending champions Vilita to move into the quater-finals. The Islanders will faced 10th seed Drudia in what will be a nail bitting game against two fairly even teams. The Islanders win moves them up to 14th seed. Head coach Motano said that "the advancements made in the Funny Looking Islands youth team is incredible, considering the fact that we have only been playing U-21 teams on a competitve level for a few years. This is the Islanders second attempt at the U-21 championship and there most successful. Head coach Motano also claimed that this has been a great season for football in the Islands. They enter the World Cup for the first time, they finish forth in the Baptism of Fire tornument and now thay qualify for the U-21 quater finals. The future lookis very promising for football in the Islands.

The Islanders hope that someone can stop Rejistania and they have ensured that they will be present next year. You never know, that might even reach the semi's!

Unnamed helper: "Sir, sir!!!"

President Smith: "Yeeees?"

Unnamed helper: "Sir, this organ grinder guy you got as the Druidan Under-21 manager at the end of the last cup."

President Smith: "Did I?"

Unnamed helper: "Yes. His name was Ron. You employed him after you fired his monkey, Boris."

President Smith: "I did?"

Unnamed helper: "Yes, you did."

President Smith: "Well... what did I do that for?"

Unnamed helper: "You employed him as a screen for the real manager Simon Greaves so that when it all went comically wrong, as it usually does."

President Smith: "Oh yes. So what are you telling me? It's time to sack him?"

Unnamed helper: "Well... er... no, sir. You see, the plan has gone horribly wrong."

President Smith: "It has?"

Unnamed helper: "Indeed it has. We've... er... made the final."

President Smith: "But... how?

Unnamed helper: "Two main reasons - our young strikers, Trefors Montenegro and Defnyddiwch."

President Smith: "WOW! How the hell did you say that?"

Unnamed helper: "Defnyddiwch"

President Smith: "So anyway, what is it about Montenegro and Defynduthwuchuch?"

Unnamed helper: "Well, they've scored a shedload of goals, and got us to the final."

President Smith: "So I can't sack Ron, then."

Unnamed helper: "Afraid not."

President Smith: "So who can I sack? I can't sack Greaves, I can't sack Ron..."

Unnamed helper: "Er... I er... *edges towards the door* I can't think of anyone, sir..." *runs away*

O'Toole Backs Rejistania for Title

-----------------Vilitan Head Coach Baron O'Toole backed Rejistania to win the Under 21 World Championship yet again. O'Toole cited his desire to see the Orange-Blues fall hard on their asses in Under 21 World Cup 13 Championships as the reasoning that he is supporting them to win it all next season. O'Toole has vowed that no matter who is leading the Jungle Kitties next cup, they will not suffer a similar fate, and young Strikers Kris Wrice and Tika Massa will be setting records when it comes to scoring in this tournament, as Vilita will be returning to the final for the first time since Under 21 Cup 7.

Turori Youth Academy Recruits New Talent

-----------------The Turori Youth Academy has today announced that they have signed 3 new trainees to the Turori Youth Academy in hopes that they will one day make the Turori Eels national side. The Turori Youth Academy is responsible for fielding the Turorian Under 21 squad for the Under 21 World Championships, but while they have achieved moderate success, the Academy has never produced any real stars. The best player to have come out of the Turori Youth Academy is Jutar Renaso, who currently plays in Melmond and has won the Striker of The Year award in Melmond for O'Connor Greens. The New Trainees, 15 year old Dellioa Jationai and 14 Year Old Rittera Lianaata from Almintora, and 15 year old Jesper Karneekio from Cednia Beach, will likely be included in the Turori Under-21 Roster for Under 21 World Cup 13.

Kansu-Ramzi Suspended in Bonking Controversy

--------------------------Turori Electric Eels defender Jiateo Kansu-Ramzi has been suspended Indefinately from the Turori Youth Academy's Under 21 squad after being sent off in the Electric Eels defeat against Rejistania for bonking Kadamy Kansu in the head. Reportedly a sibling rivalry, Jiateo would not seperate home from play and bonked Kadamy Kansu on the top of the head while the Rejistanian forward was lining up for a header inside the box. Kansu lashed out at Kansu-Ramzi, but made no physical contact on the pitch. Kansu-Ramzi immediately received his walking orders, and reportedly bonked a fan on the head on his way out of the tunnel. Kadamy Kansu would regroup from the stunning incident to convert the resultant penalty kick that would be the difference in the match, Rejistania advancing 1-0 winners over the Electric Eels in the second round for the second consecutive tournament.

All Out Defense???

The Young Orange-Blues played a rather strange match against the team from Kipto-Mare. The first news was that the Orange-Blues conceded a goal. For most other teams this would be a normal thing to happen, but for the Young Orange-Blues, this ends a series: 16 matches in three competitions without giving up a goal. Kipto-Mare did score the goal in the 15th minute of the match by using a pretty rejistanian tactic: a counter attack. Goalie Jana Kansu commented the situation by an Radjavedan expression basically meaning "Shit happens!". Kadamy Kansu equalized the score 3 minutes later, but the Orange-Blues could not increase the score further. The match looked as if it would end in a 1:1 which helped no one really. But then Myk Linkosa made a substitution in the dying minutes of the match: Alan Ivelmore, who is said to be originally from The Belmore Family, came in for Kadamy Kansu. Well, I guess every one in entire Rejistania, even the savages in the jungle, saw the following minutes when Alan Ivelmore secured the Rejistanian victory and was red-carded for godmodding.

The match ended 6:1. No summary this time... no one would believe it...

Bronze-Age Warriors
Three is the Magic Number for Four-Time Starblaydis

Look back in the history books of Starblaydia and you will see many entries revolving around the warring tribes of the Bronze Age. This Bronze colour seems to be a recurring theme throughout the Under-21s' footballing history as, for the fourth time in Under-21 World Cup History, Starblaydi found themselves on the end of a victory in the Third-Place Play-offs. Just as they did two years ago against the Junior Vikings.

This time the team opposing Starblaydia was Hiiraan, gunning for their first real taste of glory. Unfortunately for the Hiiraanianniaans, they were up agaisnt the Masters of the Bronze Medal, the Starblaydi Under-21s. Starblaydia completely shut-down the Hiiraan offence, limiting them to only a handful of shots all game.

Isiah Sodek, Gbenga Ogunniya the Captain and Zhorin Tumunzahar all smashed a goal past the poorly-performing Hiiraan 'keeper as Starblaydia took their Bronze Medals home with them. Again. For many of the Starblaydis it was their second medal, two years to the day after their first.

Rumours abound, as yet unconfirmed, that Starblaydia will choose a bronze-coloured away kit for the next Under-21 World Championships. With a starting line-up predicted to be very similar to the current team (as only three of the players are inelligable for the next tournament), Starblaydia will be searching, desperately searching, for an Under-21 Final appearance.

Junior Stars disappoint again

Even though the Sarzonian Under 21 national team seems to have put the memory of a disasterous World Cup VIII behind it, the Junior Stars have yet to taste ultimate glory.

Despite a new, defensive-oriented scheme that has resulted in the team advancing past the second round of the tournament consistently under Coach Cal Trottier, the team has only once finished as high as third place after a loss in the World Cup VI finals to Jeruselem.

The team finished its run in World Cup XII with a loss to old nemesis Krytenia 2-1 after familiar arch rivals Starblaydia ended the team's Cup hopes in the quarterfinal stage. The Junior Stars started the tournament with a thud, falling to colonial side Talzeckia 2-0 in the Ripplers' first-ever World Cup. Following the match, Trottier said he would consider "just about anything."

"I'm open to doing anything, resigning, changing our system, whatever it takes," Trottier said. "We've been blessed with some special players on our teams, but we've never been able to take our game to the next level. That's going to have to change soon or I am going to be out of a job."

Incorporated Football Federation Chairman Terry Mangione, no stranger to a coaching controversy himself, dismissed talk that the IFF would fire Trottier.

"He's done a great job for the program," Mangione said. "I don't think we want to put ourselves in a position where we have to blow up a successful program just because we aren't getting the results we want. That happened long ago and some people here still have a bad taste in our mouths from that experience."

Mangione said he would meet with Trottier after the team returns home as he does after every World Cup, and would watch tape of the matches. He emphasized that Trottier asked him to do that.

"I'm not going to get in the way of Cal's coaching the team," Mangione said. "He asked me for my advice and input and I'll give it to him, but I'm not going to tell him who to start and I'm not going to tell him what style of play to use. That's his call."

The team faced starting the World Cup with a new goalkeeper after Harvey Cooley turned 22, and has had to switch over a defense and a midfield in the last two Cups. The team is going to go into the next Cup with ideas of creating more stability for the future.

"We need to be able to improve the pipeline from our youth programmes to the Under 21s and from the Under 21s to the senior team," Mangione said. "Horace Sandt was just promoted to the senior team after how many Cups? This team is supposed to be the future stars of Sarzonia." He chuckled at the pun, but his point was clear. If the future was supposed to be bright, it would have to be served.

*Upon hearing of his nation's success in reaching the World Under-21 World Cup Final, President Margaret Smith has jetted off to Total n Utter Insanity with an unnamed helper of his and the Druidan Intelligence Service, Syku Laxu, who has come to support his nation, Rejistania.*

President Smith: "That was a bloody long journey to get here."

Unnamed helper: "Well, Uhuhland is approximately two weeks journey time from Atlantian Oceania."

President Smith: "It is?"

Unnamed helper: "The way we were directed, yes. I think someone showed us the long way round."

President Smith: "Oh. Which was?"

Unnamed helper: "In a dinghy."

President Smith: "Great. Well, where is this football match we're going to?"

Unnamed helper: "The DIS says it's probably at the Insane Dome, what with it being the biggest stadium in TnUI."

President Smith: "Great. And when is it?"

Unnamed helper: "Again, the DIS says it's tomorrow night."

President Smith: "Fantastic. Well, let's get going then."

*The three of them start walking through the Insanician countryside. The only reason for this is that President Smith insists on doing all talking on behalf of the group, and as he's too dumb for even the less-intelligent-than-average Insanician citizen, they struggle to find any other way of getting to the game. Then, suddenly, a car pulls towards them, stopping by their side...*

Driver: "Hey, aren't you..."

President Smith: "President Margaret Smith of Druida, I know, I get it all the time."

Driver: "Well, are you?"

President Smith: "Well... yes."

Unnamed helper: "Oh my god! Aren't you Liam Gessemschmitthaagen-Po?"

Driver: "I certainly am! And I'm sure I've seen you two before somewhere too. Didn't you shoot..."

Unnamed helper: "Who, him? Who knows, we can't understand much he says anyway."

Liam Gess-Po: "...and you. I definately recognise you too. Who are you again?"

Unnamed helper: "I'm..."

President Smith: "Oh, he's just some guy who helps me out every now and again. I thought I'd treat these two to a trip to see a Druidan team play in an international final for once. One that isn't just within Atlantian Oceania."

Liam Gess-Po: "You're a bit late for that, aren't you? That was two weeks ago."

President Smith: "No, I think you're mistaken, it's tomorrow night. We've got it on good authority."

Liam Gess-Po: "Mr President, sir, I was at teh match, reporting for the Daily Druid. As it's hte Druidan close season, and their next World Cup qualifier is a few weeks away, I thought I'd just enjoy a few weeks touring Uhuhland."

President Smith: "Are you sure about that?"

Liam Gess-Po: "Sure am. Look."

Liam Gess-Po: "Back to Druida."

President Smith: "Room for two more?"

Liam Gess-Po: "No problem!"

President Smith: "Great!"

*Smith and his unnamed helper board Gessemschmitthaagen-Po's car, leaving poor Syku Laxu at the side of the road.*

Liam Gess-Po: "So who exactly are you then?"

Unamed helper: "Well, I'm an aide of the President called..."

Druida slay Goliath while Jeruselem sink the islands

You heard it, Druida won the U21 Championships XII but beating Rejistania 1-0! Going for their 4th Championship against 1st time finalist Druida, most backed the Orange-Blues. Druida's first championship will be sweet and this surely will help them rise up up the rankings, but we are sure Rejistania will still be #1.

Jeruselem played the Funny Looking Islands for 7th spot after losing to Krytenia 3-2 in extra time (like we always seem to lose in extra time). This time we did win but the 1-0 win was enough relegating them islands to 8th.

Discussion in a rejistanian pub:

Miku: What the hell happened to System Karela?
Nevne: It is dead, killed by Linkosa'he!
Miku: We played that good during the last competitions...
Nevne: ...and now the Junis-Omeh'ny play like the Streeters.
Miku: Not quite. They did concede only two goals...
Nevne: And that is not much?
Miku: The Lehiju'ny from the Street conceded at least twice as much... in one game.
Nevne: well, against turori that match was okay... even though they played System Jesejil, but then... 3ja1!
Miku: We are in an English RP!
Nevne: Meh... Still 3:1! I stopped watching it!
Miku: As did I, hell you know why I am in the only bar without chance to see soccer matches in entire KaMaRi kali?
Nevne: To get drunk and laid?
Miku: No because I cannot stand this Lehiju soccer anymore! But good idea!
Nevne: And today? The U21 has another match, don't they?
Miku: The semifinal, yeah... Against Hiiraan... (he makes a guesture to a waitress that he wants another beer)
Nevne: That sounds like fun...
Miku: He, you are sarcastic!

Miku: That was Somalialand, Hiiraan are just pretty annoyed and have rivalries with any nation on NS Earth.
Nevne: I see...

Waitress: I heard you discuss the match... it is over: 6:0!
Nevne and Miku unisono: For or against us?
Waitress: for
Miku: System Karela is dead...

During half time of the finals, strange persons entered the place where Myk Linkosa and the team was. It could be easily seen that they were evil: they carried doeskin leather briefcases, and wore Armani suits. It were... lawyers, insanican lawyers. The team was scared...
Insanican Lawyer 1: We come from the Insanican government.
Vejejene Hajir: All the way from Sike?
Insanican Lawyer 1: Isanican, not insane! Everyone knows that your style of play is boring 1:0 soccer, even though you disguise it as Sistema Karela.
Mata Ha~e: Sistenha Karela.
Insanican Lawyer 1: I don't care about your R'e'j'i's't'a'n'i'a'n! Your 'tactics' are a disgrace.
Insanican Lawyer 2: What he means is that this will pass when you win. *hands Myk Linkosa a paper*
Myk Linkosa: But you are lawyers, no politicians.
Insanican Lawyer 1: But we handled a very interesting situation involving a naked politician, a hotel room and a sheep, which was not his wife discreetly and he'll do us some favors.
Myk Linkosa: I don't understand one in 100 of this! Is is Insanican?
Insanican Lawyer 1: This is a law and therefore in legal lingo, a language not comprehensible for any non-lawyer. What he means is that it will become a federal offense to play a soccer match when half of your team is defending.
Insanican Lawyer 2: Half or more!
Rejistanians: Slani!
Myk Linkosa: That means we must not play anymore in our beloved Sistenha Karela anymore! Do you want to torture us?
Insanican Lawyer 2: We lost quite a sum of money due to your 0:0 against Sjwitz. So I guess the answer is 'yes'...
Insanican Lawyer 1: We did bet on a 3:0 win for the Orange-Blues
Kansu I Sikve: What are we? Lehiju'ny?
Taxa Jar: They are also no lehiju'ny. They use tactics similar to ours.
Insanican Lawyer 2: That's why we hate it! Either you lose this match, or there won't be any System Karela teams in the U21. You decide!

Mijatos appointed Under-21 Scout

--------------Tivali City FC Player Coach and former Vilita Jungle Cats international Hluali Mijatos has been given a role as official scout for the Vilitan Under-21 side. The Vilitan Under-21's have been short of pure talent in recent seasons, crashing out as early as the second round in consecutive cups, and looking to rebound for World Cup 13. Mijatos brings a strikers instinct to the side, and will also work with prospective young strikers Tika Massa and Kris Wrice to develop their skills so they will be ready to impress at ages 16 and 17 in the next World Cup. It is unknown at this point whether Mijatos will take over all scouting roles, or if he will have assistance from other parties along the way.
