Crystils select Tystrup as new goalie

Crystilakere Crystils head coach Hazem Emam has vowed to make changes after watching his team fail in their defense of the World Cup at the hands of Rejistania. Emam says that the first change will come in goalie where the shining young star Alwasi Tystrup will be handed the starting position over Emiliano Addis. Addis has been performing well for his club in Melmond, earning goalkeeper of the year awards. But Emam was unhappy with Addis's performance in the World Cup after Addis gave up 3 goals to Spaam a very poor team, and two goals to Rejistania in the game that eliminated Crystilakere. More changes could come throughout the tournament.

Arthur sat in the office, with a quiet day well underway in Francis Town. As he sipped his afternoon coffee, he thought about the Men's National Reserves, who were ready to travel to Raptor Claw for the Jurassic Invitational. This was a badly needed tuneup for the new Black and Red, with the possibility of a number of spots open on the WC XXI Qualifying Roster.

However, his quiet afternoon quickly turned into a shock, as Annie, his secretary, entered the room. "Sir," she said, "could you please explain this for me?"

Arthur set his coffee down momentarily. "Why, of course, Annie. What's up?"

"Sir, why are the Reserves playing in the Under-7 tournament for the Really Big and Bright Trophy?"

Arthur frowned. "Annie, it's called the Jurassic Invitational. The u7 tournament's in Sagdineo."

Annie realized what may have happened. "I would double-check the entries for both."

Arthur picked up his coffee, as he turned to his computer. Upon scrolling through the entries for the u7 TRBBT, he saw a disturbing result, causing him to spit coffee all over the screen.

"This can't be right", he muttered. "If that's the case, who's playing in the Jurassic Invitational?"

A quick check at the submitted roster answered that question:

Sunny B. Martin Elementary School- The Mighty Wombats

Roster

Keepers:
1 Timmy Thompson, Age 5- Has never let a ball into his crib, and always keeps clean sheets.
6 Lynn Kawaguchi, Age 4 1/2- Sister of Kerry Kawaguchi. This ballerina will occasionally play up front, if needed

Defense:
3 Mindy "Mad Dog" Dobbers, Age 6- Normally, you either let the ball by, or the kid by. Mad Dog doesn't let either pass.
12 Vito Torrelli, Age 6- Gonna score when Vito's on the field? Fagheddaboutit!
16 Toni Torrelli, Age 4- She may be small, but Toni knows how to get the job done.
2 Marion Jay, Age 5- Don't call him Mary.
8 Nick Henderson, Age 6- Off the bench, Nick is the super sub on this defense.

Midfield:
10 Imran Kurbahti, Age 7- Don't get in the way of this goal-scoring midfielder. You might lose a limb.
7 Imir Kurbahti, Age 5- Imran's little bro is about finess and trickiness. Makes a banana kick look straight.
11 Pedro "el Toro" Vasquez, Age 7- El Toro is the goalscorer and the playmaker. Expect to get the horns with this hombre.
21 Cliffton Coleman, Age 6- Whatchu' talkin about? This kid can bring it off the bench.

Forwards:
9 Bill Masterson IV, Age 5- His great-grandfather co-founded Wheeler & Masterson University. His uncle plays for the Men's National Team. This kid has a good pedigree
12 Kerry Kawaguchi, Age 7- The crutches slow him down, but the K-rocket can fire a hard one in there.
4 Mike Clayton, Age 4- Young and fast, Mike is good off the bench.

Arthur uttered an inaudible moan. The deadline for filing a roster was today!

"Sir," said Annie, "how are we going to fix this one?"

Arthur sat in silence for a moment, before finally deciding what to do.

"Well Annie, we're going to have some experienced youngsters on our hands now, won't we?"

"It already has started."

"It has? Oh...so how did we do?"

"We didn't."

"Didn't what?"

"Do. We didn't play."

"Why not?"

"I think there's five teams per group, so that means two games per group plus one rest day for one team. It looks like today was our rest day."

"Oh that's good. It means we'll be stronger and better prepared for our next game. Who is it against?"

"Well...that's a problem."

"Why?"

"Because we didn't play today, we weren't on the scores sheet, and so we don't know which group we're in."

"We don't know which group we're in!"

"No."

"Well what are the possibilities?"

"There's Group A, Raptor Claw, Squornshelous, Iansisle and Jerusalem, Group B, Oaker, Vilita, Starblaydia and Legalese, Group C, Audioslavia, Cockbill Street, Bedistan and Haperd, and Group D, Crystilakere, Turori, Sarzonia and Svecia. That's without the five teams that weren't playing today."

"Right, so are there any preferences?"

"Well Group A is...bad, Group B is...bad, Group C is...very bad, and Group D is...also bad."

"So we're pretty much screwed wherever we are, right?"

"Right."

"Right."

"Right."

"Right."

Only Three Teams Win on First Day, Starblaydia not One of Them

When the cream of Starblaydi talent came out onto the pitch alongside the Legalese Under-7s team, the Starblaydi players naturally assumed that the Legalese kids were the mascots.

Who would have thought that a bunch of six year-olds would be given their international debuts at senior level? There was a quick conference among the Starblaydi players as the referee lined them up at the beginning of the game.

Suddenly, three-quarters of the Starblaydi team walked off the pitch.

"Alright, ref," Captain Jaime Majeed said, "Its Elwood, D.J., Martin and Zhorin Stick."

"Excuse me?" The referee looked confused, presumably because he'd just come from an episode of Celebrity Deathmatch. "Whatever, let's get it on!"

You know that Six year-olds never get tired, right? They just run and run and run, sometimes through your legs. Except when its a tall one. Ouch.

Anyway, Legalese scored first as a 10-kid surge overwhelmed Martin and Gbenga, allowing Pedro "el Toro" Vasquez to boot the ball home. Starblaydia now knew this was serious. Zhorin Tumunzahar quickly received a yellow card for making Marion Jay cry for his mommy. That was soon rectified, however, as Jay was booked a few minutes later for pulling Tumunzahar's beard. Ever in the thick of things, it was Tumunzahar that levelled the scores for Starblaydia, shooting from around twenty yards into the top corner. Try and stop that, when it goes in off the crossbar, little'un!

But, nonetheless, Legalese's Red-and-Black Wombats scored again, with some nice skill and passing, which 'rounded Elwood Deangelo and slotted into the net for 2-1 to Legalese. With not many minutes to go before half time, Gbenga D.J. Ogunniya showed just why he's merited a transfer to legendary Marine Coast United by dribbling round the entire Wombat team, and equalising for Starblaydia.

Unfortunately, at the half-time whistle, it was way past the Wombat's bedtimes, so their parents came home to pick them up. 2-2, match abandonded and Legalese top, alphabetically over Starblaydia.

Crazy times in the Dino Cup, and Zhorin Tumunzahar enters the history books by scoring Starblaydia's 400th goal. A record started, no less, by Simeone Di Bradini some twenty-two years ago.

You'll never win nothing with kids.

"We don't know which group we're in!"

The Bedistan Football Association gladly gives this piece of information to SOFA directly from the Jurassic Invitational organizing committee:

Audioslavia, Cockbill Street, Bedistan, Haperd, South Osettia

So there's your "very bad" group. :p

==========

Sa·onal Stadium. No, we're not sure how to pronounce it either. At any rate, it stood, tall and foreboding, over twenty-five quivering Bedistanis clad in green and blue early that Saturday morning.

"Remind me again why we're here?" asked Vanessa Carpenter, who didn't like the look of the place one bit.

"Because the bigwigs at the Association told us to go," stated coach Davidson matter-of-factly. Deep down inside, though, he didn't feel any better about this than Carpenter did. His heart seemed to be residing somewhere near his stomach, as he and the team marched on.

As they rounded the side of the stadium toward the front gate, a very large shadow made Tara Pullman stop in her tracks. "W...w...what...is that?" she stammered, weakly pointing an index finger in the general direction of the gate.

"It's a statue," Sven Cardinal informed her. "Statue of a dinosaur, I think." Then again, as he said this, he could swear he saw the "statue" move just a bit. Cardinal attributed this to nerves, though. As they continued walking, the shadow made a very distinct movement, and all two dozen plus one of them froze.

"That ain't no statue, Sven." Kyle Dean was simply pointing out the obvious, of course, but it needed to be said. "I'm pretty sure that's a real dinosaur right there."

"Dinosaurs have been extinct for sixty-five million years." As usual, Jill Greene still had her head on straight. "It is simply not possible for there to be a living dinosaur walking around in front of the stadium."

"You know, we are in a place called 'Raptor Claw'," Nick Reagan reminded them. "There has to be a reason behind that."

And that reason was now directly in front of them.

"Oh ****."

Somehow, though, when any sane person would have ran, they all managed to have the presence of mind to stay put.

"Let's just tiptoe past him and inside," whispered Davidson. "If we don't make a whole bunch of noise, we'll be fine." It was an agonizing six-minute trek past the giant creature and into the stadium, but they all made it unharmed.

"So now what do we do? We're kinda trapped in here," George Washburn pointed out.

"We wait for the fans. There's room for over eighty thousand people in here, and they have to get in and out somehow. Just watch them and we should be fine.

"In the meantime, we've got a game of football to play."

-------------------Two early goals from Jan Christiansen and Kagiso Alfieri were not enough for the makeshift Vilitan Past & Futures squad as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Oaker. The defeat is dissapointing for Rory Issah & Massimo Corsi, who are taking over managerial duties with Helmut Vilkaus concentrating on the World Cup Semi Finals, as Oaker is regarded as the weakest team in the group. Corsi said he was pleased with the contribution of Debutant players Ade Hinds, Dene Shaw and Jonjo Hulyer, and expects them to play an important role throughout the cup in a push for a place in the Under-21 squad and possibly the World Cup 21 Qualifying team.

Don: Good evening, everyone! Don Donaldson here with Jim Jameson! Do we have a surprising match recap for you tonight!

Jim: Indeed we do, Don! And it's not just because we're adding an exclamation to the end of everything we say!

(Producer whispers into Don and Jim's earpieces): Would you two stop it!? Just give them the damn highlights!

Don: You know, we had to wonder what new Executive Director of the LAFC Arthur Schram was thinking when he sent the under-sevens to Raptor Claw, but it seems to have paid off. A 2-2 draw with Starblaydia was the result. Let's go to the highlights!

First, we have the Starblaydians amused and shocked over seeing the Wombats take the field, and decide to only play with four. That turns out to be an initial tactical mistake, as the Mighty Wombats start with the "10 kids chasing a ball" tactic, which allowed Pedro Vasquez to get a clear shot on goal, which he converted.

Later in the first half, things got a little violent, as Marion Jay and Zhorin Tumunzahar had a little extra-curricular activity going on. Both would be cautioned, Tumunzahar for the over-agressive tackle, and Jay for his attempts to pull Tumunzahar's beard.

Tumunzahar would get the last word on this one, however. We see here, as he takes a shot from 20 yards out, just getting over the outstretched hands of Timmy Thompson, to tie the score at 1-all.

At this point, Coach Morton realized he needed to make a switch, and brought in Kerry Kawaguchi up top to replace his sister Lynn, who slid back into the goal for Thompson. Here's what he said about that after the game:

Well, we had to make the move. Timmy's a great keeper, but Lynn's jumping ability has proved to be a better asset when playing teams that are on average nearly two-decades older than our side.

Jim: Getting Kerry in there, however, is a bit of a gamble, as you know Don. He has a very powerful shot, but the crutches he has to use puts him at a disadvantage in the speed department.

Don: Though this time, it looks like the trade-off paid off. Some excellent ball movement through the midfield, especially with a nice run up the field out of the defense by Vito Torelli, is capped off by a rocket by the K-Rocket, Kerry Kawaguchi. This put Legalese up 2-1, as it looked like they'd lead going into the halftime interval.

Jim: Aye, it did, but you can't count out the Starblaydians. There was no way they'd stand losing to a team of elementary schoolers. Gbenga D.J. Ogunniya came up big, getting around the entire group of Wombats, finally sneaking the ball past Lynn Kawaguchi, just seconds before the half was called, a 2-2 draw, which is how it would end here in Legalese.

Don: Any other thoughts, Jim?

Jim: Well, I must say that this result shocked me. There is no reason that the Mighty Wombats should be competing at this level with the Senior Nationals of some of the best National Sides in the World. To stay even with a side as shorthanded as the Starblaydians is an accomplishment.

Don: We'll have more on this game when we return here to Raptor Claw. This is "Soccer Night in Legalese", here on LSPN! We'll be right back.

Ians tangle with Jeruselem again

It's the first game for Jeruselem in the Jurassic Invitional Tournament, and guess who they played first. It has to be Iansisle!

In the end no one managed to win and game both teams got a point each in an honourable draw 1 ALL. The hosts Raptor Claw played a scoreless draw with Squornshelous which means all teams in Group 1 have a point now. Druida got the bye for this match day.

The editors here have decided to call the Jurassic Invitional Tournament a shorter name as some here can't spell scientific names. It's now "Raptor Tourny".

Its not Unusual To Thrash Oaker
Starblaydia Step Up a Gear in Four-Nil Win

Consider the last time Starblaydia played Oaker, in the 8th Under-21 World Cup some seven years ago. Oaker lined up with, of course Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker, Oaker and Oaker. Starblaydia, however, destroyed them Eight-One.

Noy much difference, there. This time Starblaydia thrashed Oaker Four-Nil. Belizaire (2), Lyku-Agbayani and Doukas saw off the no-so-Mighty Oakers. A free-kick from Lyku-Agbayani was sandwiched inbetween a brace from Darius Belizaire. Finally, Stelios Doukas made it four with a powerful long-range effort.

This win puts Starblaydia top of the Second Group, in which Liverpool England reside at the bottom. Liverpool England were in our Group? Really? You're kidding. Ah well. C'est la vie.

Audioshite
Three up and three down

RAPTOR CLAW -- Well, the Bedistan Green-Blues, fresh off a World Cup quarterfinal loss to Audioslavia in addition to a similar loss in the first round, came to Raptor Claw for the Jurassic Invitational Tournament to find - who else? - Audioslavia in their group. And alas, there would be no revenge as a 4-2 loss marks Bedistan's third consecutive loss to Audioslavia in a single year!

And we have nothing more to say about that.

The Stonehedge loss

It's the Raptor Tourny (or Jurassic Invitional Tournament) and today Jeruselem played Druida. Jeruselem does have a patchy record against Druida and it showed. They lost 2-1 to an undefeated Druida in this tournament so far. Druida were far more convincing and apart from the Jeruselem keeper performing miracles, the Crusaders simply did not look like winning this one. It seems the disappointment of missing on the World cup finals has not worn off yet.

The Jurassic hosts lost to our perenial partners in Group stages, the Ians 3-2.

"Yes."

"Beat Cockbill Street?"

"Yes."

"I think that's a cause for celebration, don't you?"

"Well, I suppose..."

"Good, let the party begin!"

Five hours later

"That was a fun party, wasn't it?"

"Amazing. Do you want the worse news now?"

"Sure, why not?"

"We still need to play Audioslavia and Bedistan."

The Kids Are Alright

Jim Jameson
Special to LSPN.com

When LAFC Executive Director Arthur Schram announced the lineup representing Legalese in the Jurassic Invitational, most of us here, myself included, thought he’d gone crazy. While this may be true (since it was a registration error that led to this issue), his craziness just might be working in the favor of the Black and Red, who are now close to making it out of Group 2, where they sit in the lead at 2-0-1 (7 pts).

Who expected Liverpool England to collapse to the elementary school-kids? Did you think that Imir Kurbhati’s ever-bending kick would sneak through for a goal off of David Thompson? Who else expected the Sunny B. Martin Mighty Wombats to take a second goal off of LE, while conceding one? This reporter did not (though reports from Starblaydia seem to say otherwise).

Then earlier today, did anyone really think that Legalese would topple Oaker with a 3-1 result? Granted, Pedro Vazquez had the performance of a lifetime, if you can say that about a seven year-old. Still, the Sharks should have thrashed this team. Are the older sides underestimating what a bunch of kindergarten and first-graders can do?

We’ll find out more, when these kids take on Vilita, but I’d say that so far, these kids are doing just fine indeed.

Jameson is the analyst on "Soccer Night in Legalese." You can see him nightly on LSPN.

35 Lance Alcina (Hallad): Plays right back for the Reavers. This 24 year old is a teammate of Emacio's so the two are familiar with each other.
3 Trevor Crenshaw (Woodstock Wild): The right fullback for the four time champion Wild adds much defensive depth and experience to the team. At 29 year old he may start before long.
14 Howard Crosby (none): At 19 years old, he bypassed the Under 21 national side to join the senior national team with a display of skills many older players envy.
5 Corey Hemby (Internashionale - Starblaydia): Plays center back for Internashionale but has yet to establish himself completely with the national team. At 28, he is a solid veteran off the player's bench.

MIDFIELDERS
4 Henrik Bastale (Turoki Isle - Vilita): Has starred for Turoki Isle since his transfer from the Portland Timbers, being named Foreign Player of the Year in the Vilitan league. He has a lot of pure speed and ball control, but needs to learn to pace himself for 90 minutes. Just turned 20.
9 Darwin Russell: (Parkville F.C. - NEWI Cefn Druids):
Tremendous left-side player with a deadly accurate free kick from that side. Can be roughed up and taken out of his game. At 29 years old, is emerging as a star on the national side.
10 Bobby Convey (Woodstock): Easily the best playmaker in all of Sarzonia. Very experienced. Able to relate to all his teammates well. Frightening maturity even at 27.
16 John Benmont (Portsmouth): Rugged right sided midfielder who has the skill of Convey or Russell and the toughness of former national teamer Conley. Adds a little more speed than former midfielder and current assistant coach Barry Owens had. 31 years old.
17 George Mitcham (Saugerties): Once known as Sarzonia's first foreign based player, now plays attacking midfield for the Snakes. Is playing like an all-star for the Snakes. This 32 year old scored a vital goal for the Stars in a previous World Cup qualifier.
33 Bronson Adelsen (Rochester): New addition to the national team, this 32 year old adds a rugged defensive presence to the team.
37 "Dix" Porter (Portland): Just signed with the Timbers, is the heir apparent for the role as offensive playmaker. Spent a lot of time with Bobby Convey's dad to work on his skills. At 28 years old, may be playing for a spot on the starting 11.

FORWARDS
22 Brian Wilson (Woodstock): Team captain. At 25, a terrifically skilled player with great football awareness. His father is the national team's head coach, so he often thinks like a coach on the pitch. Voted unanimously as team captain when Convey decided to step down from that role.
31 Barry Alphonso (Likh'gokh K'druz'ba - Cockbill Street): Can play either withdrawn forward or striker for his club team. Led the league with 22 goals last season and has led the league in goals scored two straight years. Set records for most goals in Joe Gibbs University's history as a four year starter. 30 years old.
32 Bruce Badger (Randolph): A supersub, Badger scored 13 goals, a league high for a player who was strictly a reserve on his club team in the SFC. Able to add some scoring punch in a pressure situation. Just turned 31.
19 Kenny Cooper (Tacoma): Now 24, he is the all-time leading goal scorer for the U21 national team. He figures to compete for playing time off the bench.

Stars slump out of gate

Sarzonia didn't come into their first two matches of the Jurassic Invitational Tournament with visions of grandeur, but Coach Dave Wilson clearly expected more for his team. Even though the team is playing with some new faces in the starting 11, his team was still the 29th ranked team in the world according to the last rankings and still expected to play well.

"We can't just go in and expect every match to be a cakewalk," Wilson said with obvious disappointment after the team's 3-0 loss to Svecia. "Svecia is a strong side, but we're capable of playing much better than we showed." Even though the Stars held former world champions Crystilakere to a 0-0 draw in the second match, Wilson said the team would have to shake things up on the offensive end.

"We haven't scored a goal since World Cup qualifying," Wilson said. "That's a grave area of concern for us."

To be fair, the Stars are giving goalkeeper Troy Perkins the tournament off so he can rest a slightly ailing right knee. He is expected to be back for the start of qualifying for World Cup 21. The team also made several changes to its starting lineup, sending veteran sweeper Corey Hemby to the bench in favor of right back Lance Alcina, who takes over as sweeper. Another notable change is the addition of Henrik Bastale to a starting midfielder position.

"Henrik has been a valuable player for Turoki Isle," said assistant coach Barry Owens, who will coach the team for the remainder of the tournament to give him some coaching experience. "Dave and I thought it was silly not to give him a chance the way he's played in a league as tough as that league."

Bedistan and Haperd beat after 'Street Scare

After an exciting 2-2 draw with Cockbill Street, the 'slaves have found form in the Raptor Claw Jurassic Invitational Tournament. Bedistan, who were beaten by the 'slaves twice in World Cup 20, were beaten for the third time in succession after the side stormed into a three-goal lead in the first half through Rijsbergen, Fox and Dannes. Bedistan grabbed a goal back early in the second with a Kyle Dean header, but Ollie Dannes' penalty on the hour mark put the game again beyond reach. George Washburn's goal, ten minutes from time, salvaged the Bedistani side some dignity from the game.

After that came the 5-1 destruction of Haperd, the 'slaves again netting three first half goals, before adding a fourth and a fifth in the second half either side of a goal by Haperd's exciting number seven Kris Haperd Junior.

Squornshelous Lead Group 1

Looking good after three matches in four matchdays

Due to the five team groups used in the JIT, Squornshelous has only played three games so far, but that has been enough to put them on top of their group. With two wins including Matchday four's 3-0 beating of Druida, and a scoreless draw with our hosts, the Pschychoes are playing very well. They are currently tied for second in Goal Difference with Vilita and Tied for third in overall standings. Since the only two teams ahead of us have played an extra game, we anticipate moving into a tie for first in standings with a win over Jeruselem.

It's the Raptors Tourny and Jeruselem played the hosts Raptor Claw.
Both teams did not have a win unlike the other teams in Group 1, and things didn't change today either. Jeruselem drew with their clawed hosts 1-1 ALL leaving both teams on the bottom of Group 1 while Squornshelous beat Druida 3-0 to deserve their top spot. The Ians had the bye.

"Well, we're not exactly...roaring with success!"

"That wasn't even funny. Leave the puns to the professionals please."

"Okay. Well we played Audioslavia today."

"Who?"

"Audioslavia? You know, world number ones, in the final of the World Cup?"

"Nope...doesn't ring a bell. How did we do?"

"It was close, but we lost 2-1."

"That's annoying, isn't it?"

"Yes."

"So can we still get through to the next round?"

"We can, but..."

"But what?"

"We have to beat Bedistan 2-0."

"Oh, that shouldn't be too hard!"

"You do know we've never ever ever beaten Bedistan before, don't you? We've never even drawn against them. They're a bit of a bogey team for us."

"Well...there has to be a first time for everything, doesn't there?"

"I suppose..."

"Good, so we'll beat Bedistan, have a wild raucous party and then lose to some totally pants team like..."

"Haperd? We already did that. 3-1, remember?"

"Oh. We're not going through are we?"

"No, but at least we can't suffer the embarrassment of coming last - it's mathematically impossible."

"Well, that's something, I suppose. Now, what's on TV?"

From last to 2nd in Raptor Tourny Group

Things looked bad for Jeruselem in the Jurassic Invitional Tournament. Two draws in three games and they were rock bottom below the hosts Raptor Claw. It was the last round, the Raptor Claw had the bye so they could not make the next round having only 3 draws.

Squornshelous could not be eliminated and played Jeruselem but it is predicted the most favoured teams of Druida or Iansisle to progress but they played each other. Now remember last game of World Cup 20 in the qualifiers? IT HAPPENED AGAIN!

Jeruselem beat the undefeated Squornshelous 2-0 in a boilover where Squornshelous was expected to run over the Crusaders. People say never underestimate Jeruselem and they did it again, against the odds and a more experienced team. The Ians played Druida and a win for any of them would make them progress. They managed a draw and ended up on 5 points.

Jeruselem's defense had been good and guess what? It helped. The 5-4 goal difference pushed Jeruselem into 2nd over 6-6 and 5-7 of Iansisle and Druida. The unlucky hosts wished they had one win.

Jeruselem have booked a visit to the soccer jungle and meet the Jungle Cats of Vilita.

Crystils Top Group, Face Bedistan

The Crystilakere Crystils are looking to take home some sort of trophy this season after being upset by Rejistania in the World Cup Finals where the Crystils were hoping to defend their World Cup championship. Crystilakere have not lost any games in the Jurassic Invitational Tournament and will be looking to continue this streak in the Quarter Finals where they will face Bedistan. Bedistan finished second in their group and only lost to Audioslavia, the team that Crystilakere beat to win the World Cup in World Cup 19, and the current top team in the world. The Crystils will be fielding a full starting lineup, with Alwasi Tystrup in goal for Emiliano Addis.

Oh Dear God, Not AGAIN!!!!!
Audioslavia's got our number

RAPTOR CLAW -- Of course, now that the World Cup is over, the Green-Blues have started playing some good football again. Excellent, you might even say. After all, Crystilakere were world champions just five years ago, and the Bedistani Jurassic Invitational team whipped them three-nil in today's quarterfinal match.

The Crystils' defense seemed to have become complacent after allowing just one goal in four matches, and it really showed here. Their movements seemed somewhat sluggish, which enabled all three Bedistani strikers to drive deep into Crystilakere territory on many occasions. The score was already two-nil at halftime after two really not-that-spectacular George Washburn goals. Finally realizing something was wrong, the Crystilakere defense tightened up in the second half, causing the team to actually look like a top-ten side. It still wouldn't be enough, though, as Vanessa Carpenter sealed the deal with an arcing 69th-minute shot that found the top left corner of the net for 3-0. The Green-Blues pulled back to cool off, and the Crystils seemed to have lost all heart.

FINAL SCORE:
Bedistan 3 (Washburn 32, 43; Carpenter 69)
Crystilakere 0

Oh, but guess who our next opponent is? Yep, it's World Cup 20 all over again as old foes from the group stage meet us again two rounds later. And when that old foe is Audioslavia, it really just makes a man break down and cry. Three meetings in the last year, three losses for Team Bedistan. Will it be four? Probably, but let's hope not.

-------------------15 year old Makosile United striker Tika Massa came on to make his international debut in the 23rd minute of the Jurassic Invitational Quarter Final against Jeruselem after Germán Salomón's international career looked to have come to an abrubt end being stretchered off after a collision with someone with a boring plain Jeruselite name. The match was a very even affair, with the Experimental Vilitan squad being mixed between former Veterans and Future Stars coming up close and personal in an epic battle with the historically underperforming Jeruselem.

-------------------With just 10 minutes to play, and extra time looking a certainty, it was the talk of Crosaibi, Jonjo Hulyer who's brilliant play with aging Veteran Umberto Melli attracted the Jeruselem defense, allowing Melli to place one of his trademark through balls to a wide open Tika Massa. The debutant striker made no mistake, and proved to the world why he was selected in the Vilitan squad for the upcoming World Under-21 Championships by cooly side footing home to give the Jungle Cats a matchup with World Cup third place winners Squornshelous in the Semi Final.

You Can't Fool All of the People All of the Time

Having demolished Bedistan three times this year, the 'slaves didn't quite have it in them to do it again.

The 2-1 defeat came a few days after the 'slaves put away Turori in the second round 1-0.

Had the 'slaves beaten Bedistan, they would have gone on to face their world cup final opponents Vilita. Unfortunately, they were outplayed by a Bedistan team that has found form in the Jurassic Invitational Cup, twice taking the lead against the 'slaves and keeping it confortably until the 90 minute mark.

So, instead of a repeat of the World Cup 20 final, we have a repeat of the World Cup 20 semi-final in the third-place playoff as the 'slaves take on Squornshelous.

The semi-final ended with a cracking 5-3 win for the 'slaves, but Squornshelous will be out for revenge and if history has told us anything, its that Squornshelous usually put four goals past us if we've recently scored five goals and knocked them out of a world cup.

Heres hoping it won't happen again.

-------------------The Vilitan National Team has advanced to it's 3rd consecutive tournament final after defeating Squornshelous 2-1 in a rematch of their World Cup 14 Qualifying fixtures. Marine Coast United super-prospect Jonjo Hulyer opened the scoring in the 18th minute for Vilita, and made it known that he will be pressing for a place in the squad come World Cup 20 Qualifiers. However, Squornshelous replied and the teams went into the break notted at 1-1. Unfortunately, the lively Hulyer had to be replaced for precautionary reasons at half time, and was replaced by Ippolit Adjei. Vilita looked to lose a bit of spark from the absense of the flying winger. Just after the hour mark, Starblaydi-based Rueben Laberge was introduced for Thierry Columbo. Laberge was surprisingly effective against the Squornshelous defense, and it was his cunning work that put Vilita into the first ever Jurassic Invitational Final, losing his marker and rifling his first National Team goal from 20 yards out.

The Vilitan Squad will be facing Bedistan in the final, after the Lions.. or Green-Blues... beat Audioslavia finally after 4 matches in the last months against the World #1's.

Squornshelous takes home third

Have a nice hot cup of Deja Vue

We didn't score 4 goals doing it, but the Squornshelous Pschychoes defeated Audioslavia to leave the Jurassic Invitational Tournament with Third Place. Vilita went home with 1st. Almost the exact same thing happened in World Cup 20 With Vilita, Audioslavia Squornshelous and Rejistania, who did not compete in the JIT finishing top 4. Bedistan pulled one over on the 'Slaves to snag second. With this finish, the Pschychoes have really set themselves up to make a good run in the upcoming World Cup 21.

the tournament seems more interesting when youre winning eh? ;)

Squorn Shell Us
'slaves beaten into fourth place

It wasn't 4-0, but it was a defeat nonetheless which gave Squornshelous their third win over Audioslavia in six matches.

With a depleted team, the 'slaves were over-run in midfield and fell two goals behind towards the interval.

Ollie Dannes pulled one back late on, but it was too little too late for a 'slavian side who looked exhausted after the busy schedule in the international calender.

-------------------The Vilita Jungle Cats have clinched the first ever Jurrassic Invitational Tournament title after a comfortable 3-1 victory over Bedistan at the Sa-Onal Stadium in Raptor Claw. An experimental Vilitan side, rewarded for their consistency throughout the tournament, showed that the future of the sport in Vilita is as great as ever, with the average age of the team just under 20 years old.

-------------------21 year old Sylvain Emeka-Tuai opened the scoring on 22 minutes, cleaning up on a Lai Ncube effort that could not be controlled by Bedistani goalkeeper Nick Reagan. The Strike FC Midfielder got his leg on the ball just before it could be cleared away by the defense, and the ball found its way into the back of the net to the joy of the travelling Vilitan support. Alikki-Corra's 18 year old Defensive Midfield prospect pressed his claims to become the next Jurgen Ramzi with a scintillating 35 yard strike that left both Reagan, and the fans in Raptor Claw in disbelief. The curling bullet looked something out of a highlights of the decade reel, and left Bedistan wondering what they had to do down 2-0 at the break.

-------------------The Vilitans made one change at half time, with Manolis Ipoua replacing Iskara Daii's Jonjo Hulyer. Ipoua, however did not look up for the game, and turned over the ball in a dangerous position, allowing Bedistan to get back into the game with a quick goal, San Diego Iguana's sub Tim Veller cutting the Vilitan's lead to 2-1. But Vilita was just too strong, and despite the quick Bedistani advance, Mavaloiao's rising star Thierry Columbo sealed the victory for Vilita in the 68th minute and brought the Jungle Cats their second consecutive senior trophy.
