Application Submission Deadline
Wednesday, 9 February 2005
Points System
First team to 30 points wins the game and advances to the next round
1 point for every correct answer
No points will be taken off for incorrect answers except in the championship game (1 point per)
Rules
Question alternation per team (1 question for Team A, then 1 question for Team B, then back to Team A)
However, if a team member answers incorrectly, any member of the opposing team has the opportunity to steal the point
Cheaters will be immediately disqualified and their opponent advances
Answers must be exact, no half-answers allowed
Invigilators (ask the questions)
Pacitalian and Medovician
Language
All matches will be in English, but questions can be translated through the use of earpieces (similar to that of the UN). It is expected that team members know enough English to not require those earpieces.
If there are any questions, TG Pacitalia!
Let the games begin!
Imnsvale

We happen to have a team that competes for this exact title amongst out states, we would be pleased to have them compete, if you would allow it.
Pacitalia
08-02-2005, 04:05
One question - would you rather have it on IRC or on the NS Forums?
IRC will better prevent against Google-whoring for the answer (Obsidian and Imnsvale pointed this out).

Spaam, Samtonia, Imnsvale and Amarenthe accepted. Welcome to the first TWC!
Please post a roster of your four-member starting team and four-member reserve team (full name, nickname [optional], age, sex, educational accomplishments).
Edit: Sarzonia, Menelmacar and Robotopolis accepted.
PBC 3 (Pacitalian tv network) has the main broadcast rights to the tournament but you are welcome to apply for broadcast rights as well. What network do you plan to do this with?
Edit 2: El Sentiel and Resurgent Dream accepted.
Alcona and Hubris

Actually a special limited use network is being set up with unedited international content as part of a test project. As such we would just prefer to just rebroadcast the PBC 3 broadcast with all their commericals and commentary. Obviously we would pay for those rebroadcasts, but the network does not have a name currently. (We would also consider any other PBC 3 content without any real violence, nuidity, or sexual references. We are not prudes but the target of this temporary network audience will likely include small children and the elderly.)
However, some local stations and national networks such as Dark Coast News and Hubris International may decide to pick up the semi-finals and the finals as part of their sports programming depending on response to the earlier coverage in their general news programming.

Okay, Alcona and Hubris, you've got a deal. If you can work out a favourable price tag for these rights - we'll do it. Just a note - 1 douro (our currency) is equivalent to $2.00 US.

Sorry, Hiiraan, I didn't understand your post so I couldn't accept you - you can be a reserve nation in case one of the others has to drop out.
Again, I apologise. :(

Liam Carter, 23 Played several school sports, considers himself an expert on the subject. Probably isn't, but attitude means something, right?
Elizabeth Hayes, 46 Highschool english teacher, grammer control freak, and Mark Twain obsessor. Likes to think her knowledge surpasses all others'. Grills her students mercilessly.
Dr. Peter Cale, 41 Professor of... something, though no one really knows what. Probably doesn't know half as much as he says he does, but every so often comes up with a surprisingly intelligent thought. Some consider him brilliant, others consider him... well, unstable.
Mary-Anne Dubos, 30 Animal lover, tree hugger, nature adorer. Probably knows something about science. Maybe?
And if you thought that was a brilliant enough team, wait until you meet the reserves...
Paul Smith, 39 Boring, average guy, but with a surprisingly keen mathematical mind.
Susanne Tucker, 28 Used to dream of ruling the world, probably had some sort of scheme to get their, and therefore could possibly be considered a political expert, at least by this team's standards.
Cindy Lou, 67 Loves cartoons. Spends all weekend watching them in her pajamas. Can recognise characters from toddler TV shows if asked.
Caius Brittanicus, 80 No one knows much about him, but all consider him wise and knowledgable in several areas. He enjoys pretending he's a wizard in his spare time. Often seen sporting a wizard hat.
:D You know it.
