Dieties against Kings.... (Open Magical/Modern RP)

Vortain

Queen Saren, Lady of the Waves, stood impatiently, her lithe arms folded. She was thin, with a silvery pale skin, her hair as black as coal. She wore an elegant and flowing blue dress that covered her entire body save her arms.
She stood atop the Great Pillar, the meeting place between the mortals and dieties such as herself. She frowned in disapproval at the tardiness of her guest.
Where on earth is Sister Daema? She thought, looking out across the surrounding plains. It was not like the Sacred Sisterhood to be late.
She heard footsteps coming up from the staircase that led to the top of the spire. Then arose the Sisterhood's representative.

"Please forgive my lateness, Holy Mother of the Waters." Spoke the beautiful and innocent looking Sister Daema.

"You are forgiven." Saren spoke firmly. "Is it true?"

"Yes Holy Mother, it is true."

Daema said with her soft and clear voice. Saren's frown deepened.

"This is a troubling development, my child. Already we must face the onward advance of the Christians and their non-existent god as well as the belief of the Elves in Eru Illuvatar and the Valar. The people must not turn away from us and the old ways."

"But I am sure that the people will not turn away from you. Even with King Aegon's conversion to Christianity, no mindless belief can turn aside the true existence of dieties like yourself. I mean, when was the last time the Christian God supposedly helped his believers, you and your comrades have been guiding lights and faithful stewards to the subjects of Vortain."

Saren enjoyed speaking with Daema, she had a subtle intelligence.

Surely, belief in us is more substantial than anything the Christians or Elves can conjure up.

Daema continued her analysis.

"Yet for all the flaws of those pretender faiths, a Christian on the thrown of the Kingdom of Vortain would be dangerous to the survival of yourself and the dieties, Holy Mother."

Saren hated making the inevitable decision that would come.

"Hear my commands, my child. Take this recommendation to my brother, Hiren."

Saren handed the letter to Daema, she looked at it but could see no writing. The magic of Saren prevented its reading by any but the recipient.
Daema bowed and set off to complete her task.
Saren turned and looked across the plain, how quickly the world was changing, how technology and communications brought the world closer and how that was dangerous for her and her kin.
In a flash and a plume of steam, she vanished back to her domain.

(OOC: This is open to any who would wish to join. In my nation, the dieties are spirit-like entities that control certain aspects of existence like Saren who controls the waters of Vortain. She and all her kind are immortal and their powers are limited so far as the people's belief in such 'gods'. They also are not all-seeing. In terms of the King, he is a mortal individual created by the deities to ensure the well running of Vortain.)
