Hello everybody. This is a signup/info thread for my new Rp Containment. Right now, there is no rating for this Rp, but it will most likely be R or maybe even NC-17.

Unlike City of the Dead and the Alien vs Predator Rps, this Rp is set in Nationstates; so you can use a NS character. I am looking for mercenary or any kind of soldier for hire mainly for this Rp. I’ll be giving out more information later, but here is a brief rundown of the story.

In the Golden Simatar, a research facility working on top secret weapons programs suddenly locks down after a bizarre new virus escapes. A Black Ops team is sent in to figure out what happened and the military quickly throws up a barrier around the facility and several large towns. Communication with the Black Ops group is lost several hours after it is sent in. The Joint Chiefs of Staff and the President meet to discuss a new plan of action. Captain Dirk Wolfe, who is also part of the Black Ops unit but was on R and R at the time, is chosen to organize a team of the best people he can find to locate his comrades and figure out what happened.

Now, this is a zombie Rp but not in the sense COD was. I’ll put up information about the zombies later on. I am also asking people when they submit a character to me via TG or posting here, that you include a way to contact your character so the team can be organized.

I hope this is enough to get people interested, I will put up more info later.

You can contact her by sending a team of "recovery agents" to Tarlachia to capture her, or talk to her. No, we don't do mail. No she doesn't have any form of mechanical communication on her.

Then again, she IS a mercenary, and as they say "a soldier of fortune"...

Relatively short, at 5'8" tall, and of a medium build, 150lbs of mass creating little in the way of bulk, Jared has little in the way of height or size to generate an imposing figure. Wiry muscle covers the young man's body, giving him an extremely muscled look, without the bulk often associated with muscular figures. The lack of bulk, combined with the indicated muscle power, suggests that this person has both speed and power at his disposal. The all-round presence of toned body suggests not only harsh and constant training methods, but also well-planned ones. Like most petrol heads he is never seen without a healthy coating of grease on hands, arms and face. A small nose and high, angled cheekbones complete his facial features, painting him with a warm, if stern, visage. A few minor scars dot across his chest and stomach, and old rubbery burn scars mark his wrists, slightly.

Here is the information about the zombies, virus, and the military unit in the Rp.

Rebecca

Codenamed Rebecca after one of the researcher’s daughter, the virus was designed to be short term and die after several days. Its purpose was pure and simple, to drive the infected persons to lose most if not all of their sanity. It was believed that dropping Rebecca on enemy infantry or cities, it would divert units from the front lines to containing the infected.

Test on animals showed that tiny doses of the virus showed that is attacked the nervous system and left the animals twitching and unable to control their muscle movements. Several death-row inmates were tested on and with a slightly high dosage; it threw many into violent seizures until they died. When it was learned Rebecca could be lethal to humans, research was stopped for several years before starting again.

Since the virus is man made, the scientists were able to install a fail-safe. The virus would die within fifteen minutes unless it found a human host. They were also able to create a vaccine for it, though it can only be injected into someone after they have been exposed to the virus.

Studies of dead test animals showed that Rebecca stays in the body, partially active, keeping the brain alive for several minutes after death before itself dying.

It is unclear how long a person could stay infected, but most die within a week to two weeks of being exposed to Rebecca.

Infection

First Stage:

The persons who are infected can inject themselves with the vaccine if they have it, within the first hour of infection. If it goes untreated, the infected slowly loses their grip on reality and loses much of their memory. They are able to transfer the virus if they bit or scratch another person. These infected are oblivious to most things around them.

Second Stage:

This stage occurs several hours after infection. The person begins to exhibit signs of some intelligence, such as use of a club like instrument. Slightly smarter than First stage infected, though they act more aggressive. They attack living things only when they are in reach. And like the first, can transfer the virus.

Third Stage:

The person has now lost all sanity. It is unknown how long it takes an infected person to reach this stage. The body is usually hunched over, the eyes are bloodshot, and foams slightly at the mouth. The infect act much more like animals than human, attacking everything, though they do not attack other infected. The reason behind this is unknown. They also show ability to move in groups and coordinate attacks, using rocks, sticks, etc. as weapons.

There was one case of cannibalism and this is the only group that appeared to eat people.

Desert Eagles are heavy, large and not practical. The amount of ammunition you would require, and the fact that snipers are covert, requiring to move around easily and lightly. I don't know much about modern warfare, but desert eagles are a bit....excessive? You know that a desert eagle has a massive kickback, and that using two at one time is insane. It is classed as a rifle for gods sake.

And the fact that you are using a M40A3 in conjunction, that rifle aint very light. You are a scout apparently....just weight issues with those two pistols.

But nevermind. I hardly know much on this. I just like a somewhat "realistic" rp (with guns and people, not the whole zombie part. But I do like realism in that too :) )

Well, being a right wing uber gun nut whose fired countless weapons, I could rip 'em up on any argument he wants to use about carrying two Desert Eagles (even the .357 or .44 versions, not the .50AE, wich is reality is simply a hotloaded .45ACP), and I too prefer a general idea of realism when dealing with special forces and military type RPs, but I'm not running it, so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

Biography:

Ruben Halifax is a cold hearted killer. There is no denying such, even he will tell you so. What makes this man different from your normal homicidal maniac is that Ruben is not insane, nor does he derive some sick pleasure from end the life of others. He is a man of goals and believes any means will justify his ends.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Ruben ended up in jail within the United States, although the charge had been reduced to manslaughter, it was jail time nonetheless. Ruben had quickly portrayed himself as a man that would retaliate with extreme violence if provoked, resulting in the severe injuries of another inmate.

After the zombie incident, Ruben had taken advantage of the situation and made his escape. He had no trouble posing as an average citizen and is now within the safety of a military fort.

Skilled in close combat, Ruben is most deadly with blades yet he is reasonably adept with guns but prefers a bow if he must use projectile weapons. Ruben has no real interest in the zombies, save that he wants them gone. They are preventing his goals from becoming reality and so he shall rid the nation of them by any means...

After escaping the incident within the US, Ruben made his way to the prosperous nation of Assingotn. There he set himself up as a con man and made a new life for himself as most of his details were lost in American data banks.

Ruben has picked up a few new skills from Assingotn, including computer systems and learned of a psychic potential he supposedly has. Whilst he has 'some' ability, he isn't very strong with it and prefers not to rely on it.

Rikan "Viper" Tansho was only a child when her parents were brutally murdered in cold blood by ruthless killers. Heh, nice. I like the idea for the JHPs, work a bit better on "soft" targets, such as... uhh... rotting decomposing zombie flesh.

Rebecca is airborne for only a short time before dying, unless it finds a host. Once it does, it become only transferable via fluid transmission.

History or notes:

After ROTC, he was assigned to the 17th Airborne at Kriegspiel. Dirk is considered by many higher officers to be one of the best officers in the Special Forces. He was chosen from a pool of over a hundred officers who were from the Airborne, Rangers, SEALs, and Marines to be one of four men to lead the four groups of Black Diamond.

Dirk was promoted to Captian and took control of Group 3 at Silverback 1. It was destroyed, along with many of his men. Dirk has since gone on many missions from attacking terrorist sites to attacking dictatorships that threaten the Golden Simatar.

He was on R and R in the south of the country when Rebecca escaped.

Oh nutter, sorry about that. Well, Arthas is kind of a local legend in the capital, Nova City. You can't look him up in the phonebook, can't ask the police, but word travels fast around town. He's like a scavenger hunt item of the town, a person that some people don't believe exists. If someone saw him, and recognized him, they'd whip out their cell phone with a camera and take a picture to send to their friends. You can just ask about any streetwise citizen, and you'll get pointed in the right direction.

Hey, I was bored, and I enjoy character building, so I brushed up some things, tweaked a few numbers, in case you want more info or, I dunno, mental images are cool. :P

Hair: Black, thin, straight about neck length, bangs same length, but off to the side, greasy/shiny, part straight down the middle, under high light, gets a slight dark purple tinge.

Speaking voice: Soft, quiet, almost feminine at times when calm, when angered or raised, gets kind of a mind piercing quality
Mannerisms: Hands in his pockets often, unsure and nervous around others, especially women, but he works better with them. Doesn't talk much. When he does, he's usually sarcastic and sort of rude or cold. Face usually kept with a cold straightness, often never breaks into a smile or frown, not mean to everyone, but isn't all cheery and friendly, especially if you are keeping him from something. Every job is just another job.
Knowledge: Historian, strategic, thinker
Hobbies and activities: Plays keyboarded instruments, such as an organ or piano. Decent at chess. Can beat about anyone at Go. Likes other strategy board games. Not much into computer or video games. Enjoys cards, but doesn't prefer them, good poker face. Likes to cook. Sword fights when he finds someone who has a sword too, which many others don't in this day and age.
Foods: Isn't picky, rather be making it than eating it. Likes wine though.
Health problems and diseases: Insomniac, few various pesonality disorders, but hides them well.
Experience: Did various gruntwork in the mafia before becoming more in the admin of it, a tough negotiator. His gunplay with the smaller guns though still wound him up going to the hot deals, more often than not firing his way out, has been hit a few times. His work on breaking a deal that stopped an all out war in Arthaga City earned him the highest respect in the mafia and he was promoted to consigliere and awarded the sword he still carries today. After the mafia collapsed, he has since taken small bounties, theives, bail-jumpers, ready for a big job again.
Skills: Due to his experience in the mob, his expertise is small arms and close range, very skilled with the sword he carries that he personally recieved from his don. His accuracy with small arms is only limited by the gun itself.
Brief Bio: Came from a rich family, mom was a lawyer, dad was a stay-at-home. Mom died in a car accident when he was 17, brother was 15. Dad took loans from loan sharks and took high-paying jobs in other regions to pay them off. Met and fell in love with his girlfriend. Dad died in a mine collapse when Arthas was 19, never found out.
While at the bus station to pick his dad up, a loan shark sent an assassin to kill the deceased father to the house. The only person home was his girlfriend, who got sniped. His brother, Daniel, was at a friend's place. Arthas came home, saw what happened, tied himself to the stair railings and started the house on fire, in an attempt to kill himself. The firefighters got him out, unconcious, and brought him to the hospital, where, upon becoming concious, pulled himself off life support and tries to kill himself again, failed, caught. Nurses strapped him down until he was sane enough.
His brother left him to become an actor, which he failed at. Arthas was more of a realist, and joined a mafia he had been close to since he was 13, and had spent his days learning and going along in missions. He was with the mafia until he was 26, and it collapsed.
Equipment: He loves any weapon and gets used to them quick. He likes, most of all, pistols, SMGs and sword and knife fighting. He carries two MAC11/9's, two 92FS's, and his trusty sword, a rapier about 3 feet long.

OOC: Aww Hell... I miss an RP by a day for the up-teenth time. Guess I'll just sit back & play technical advisor...

I'd personally pack an H&K Mk 23 SOCOM loaded with Hydra-Shok .45 ACP's for this operation. Those little fuckers give you a 2.5x expansion, leaving a nice hole in whatever you just shot. They also don't cause jams as much as other hollowpoint rounds do in auto-loading pistols. Jacketed Hollow Points will open up with a 1x, and penetrate a bit further. They're a good compromise between the FMJ & the HP.

Primary weapon-wise, it would have to be the USAS-12, loaded with either slug shells or double-0 buckshot. Add a twenty-round drum magazine, and you've got an effective close-range weapon that's controllable in full-auto & still knocks the snot out of whatever you shoot.

Other:One of the strangest assassians ever seen,Hootington looks both terrifying and harmless with his full-formal black suit, top hat, and monacle. However, under this strange guise is a deadly killer. His ridiculous choice of weapons might seem odd, but he is nevertheless an expert with his Yo-Yo, as well as a good shot with his pistol.

This is by far the wierdest character I've ever created.

Cid is an interesting man to look upon. On one side, he is a rather relaxed man who enjoys the world, a individual with a rough mouth, blunt and sometimes with misplaced accusations to others, and an a devil may care attitude. Overall, Cid is a person who you might find in a bar playing poker with some freinds he just picked up, drinking whisky and recalling a rather elaborate tale involving his brother, which normally ends in a rather crude punchline.

The other side of Cid's character is one of his profession, where his job becomes paramount. He has had limited training within his work, most of it has come from active experiance from fighting within various street fights and guerrila wars. Cid has always had some element of conflict within his life, as a child he assisted the war efforts within his homelands, sometimes using a rifle with his late father, which died when he was only ten. Cid can use most weapons with ease after some time of training, and is quick to learn and apply his own knowledge to situations. A jack of all trades Cid is, a mercenary who takes what he can and uses all of his various skills to survive in a situation, wheter using his mechanical skills to get a car running in time, or his rudimentary knowledge of bomb making to blow a door, Cid is extremely flexible. As such, Cid has been employed for various work, from escort duties, to a quick replacement for a engineer, or a support sniper.

Cid favours close quarter fighting than sniping, as being born on the streets and mostly fighting in urban surroundings, he can use his experiances to his advantage. Cid is not particulary strong, his build his medium and his muscles are not impressive, but he is well toned and agile, allowing him to get out of the way of most firefights before they become too intense. Cid's preferred armour is a simple yet light armoured jacket, which has saved his life on more than one occasion. The jacket is his own design, so little his known about it, but it is not good enough to prevent the more sophisticated rifle rounds of today from damaging him.

Cid's main passion is anything which has an engine, or involves mechanics of some sort, and owns his own garage. His garage is his base of operations, the rather large place being bought with his early work, and now outfitted with his equipment. Anyone who wishes to employ Cid would simply contact him by phone, which has been made secure by various tamperings with his phoneline.

OOC: Umm... not trying to pick sides here, but you are aware that they didn't actually make your character do anything, and other than giving him a talking to, they never actually did anything to him. Now, what I did, my pointing out of things, I still regret that, and since then I have smoothed it all over with NoF, and we are actually not bad friends too. At least I tried to be constructive with my thing. If you want your character to do something so bad, then have him do it, that's why you post into the past a bit. Otherwise, just have Plisken be pissy at them, or everyone, or just get the hell over it and get in the God Damned Temple.

OOC: Edit: Also, you could stand to be a bit more polite if you expect people to want to listen to you, let alone do so.

I'm just kinda pissed that my character was left with no room to respond and basically became a doll to be played around with, that's why this is coming across as rude. I wouldn't of minded the response if I'd of been left some room to reply instead of being told that the outcome was Plisken would sit there and do nothing when two people made actions with my character.

Nathan then grabbed Plisken's hair, and pulled his head millimetres away from his mouth, "And if you insult her again, I'll be more than happy to blow you away, or rip you apart. Goddit?"

I think I've tried in the utmost to neither decide a character's reaction, response or posture unless it had already been stated in a previous post, simply because it is obvious to me I don't know those characters enough to act for them.

Well, if you were to stop and think about Rikan's personality, her style of interacting with others, you will agree that she is quick to react, and usually in a sense that would call her word as the last word. She is a quick-draw mercenary, and she reacted as I saw her reacting, claws out and all.

After insulting her, do you really think anyone that is like her to simply sit back and take it? No. They'll strike back, and twice as hard. I deliberately did nothing to hurt you, as that in itself would be violating the rules of RPing. Technically, you had two free hands, and feet to use against Rikan.

I will agree that the part of Nathan grabbing Plisken's hair was too far, as that is directly controlling another character physical movements. Now for clarification, Rikan's actions earlier did nothing to restrict Plisken's movements, but rather strongly suggested he not try anything rash with blades so close to his body.

Ultimately, I will, for the sake of being who I am, apologize for apparently antagonizing you. That was not my intention. I simply had Rikan respond as a hot-headed bitch would. Aggressively.

I've no problem with the reaction from Rikan, that I did expect, my problem was that Rikan did all that and then went to have a conversation but if Plisken had of reacted it would hardly of resulted in Rikan just walking away and having a conversation.

Well then, you just have to meet them halfway. Let’s take your problem with Rikan as our case in point. She did that stuff to Plisken, then went off and had a conversation. You could’ve had Plisken react then, writing in something like “As she walked away, Plisken hissed back ‘I’m king of the daffodils, bow down before me’” or however you wanted to have him react. So long as you didn’t do something too major or stupid and whatnot.
I’d imagine that Tarlachia is a good enough RPer (Which they are, I believe) to acknowledge that Plisken reacted. They might even have Rikan respond to Plisken’s reaction, thus setting up a little side situation, though I recommend not making those take too long, as they have the tendency to confuse the other RPers one point or another.

As to breaking up that whole encounter into little pieces to be able to respond to it, that doesn’t always work. It depends on the tempo of the RP as a whole. If you notice, these posts seem to have a recurring length, nothing too short. So to break up the encounter would only slow things down. Now in other RPs, things may move more slowly, down to the point where most posts are just a couple sentences or a line of dialogue with an expression or body language. That’s the time when those get broken up. Otherwise, like here, you have to just let it keep rolling to some extent. If your character is honestly angry with another, then have them maybe have some hostility, like the occasional scowl, sarcastic comment, being rude like pushing past them, or have them not be so kind in the future during a conversation or something. It’s all up to you as the RPer to decide. So, pretty much, long posts, long-term effects.
Or, as an emergency, if you REALLY can’t deal with something without dropping to short posts, talk to the person on an Instant Messenger or Telegram them and deal with it there. Then, once you are done, you just copy the text out of the correspondence and paste it into one post, maybe affixing a note saying that you both wrote this together, so you don’t have any GodMod accusations flying at you.

I hope my unasked-for intervention has helped iron this out.

As for having Rikan walk away, I did it simply because she was already pissed off enough at Plisken, and she did it to defuse the situation a little. Otherwise, it probably would've gotten ugly. It was also an attempt to keep the thread going and not stagnating in one place. As Arthaga said, you can always have a sort of "delayed response", through actions, and behavior later on. It works just as well as an immediate response.
