OOC: Do we have any "aliens" in the house these days?

Atlantian Outcasts
05-02-2005, 04:28
Ya, I'm just wondering who here isn't Terran. I've was out of the loop for ages, and am just wondering.

Besides, if your non-Terran, you might be more likely to get along with my Atlantian species more (and probably the other 2-3 species in my nation (Anubite, Centaur, and small amounts of Terrans and Elves). But not all Terrans are screwed from the start, those that show ethics and "civilized" behavior can earn our trust....

How did I get on that topic? Meh, anyway, this is more or less a simple survey. If you are "alien", what are you and where are you?

I'm in my own little star cluster a few short lightyears from Earth.
Mirfak
05-02-2005, 04:35
Mirfak has a grab-bag of species and races. Mostly Human, Xanthalian, and Than. Search enough and you'll probably find at least one of everything else somewhere on Mirfakan soil. Mirfak is twenty-two light-years from Sol.

You know us. We're close neighbors to Sol. We're big scaley thing-a-mabobs. Go us! WHOO!
Ghargonia
05-02-2005, 04:47
The Ghargant Imperium is roughly 50,000 light-years away from Sol (check out the uber-crappy map in the thingy in my signature!!1), and is populated by two separate (and alien) reptilian species; one the dominant Ghargonians, the other the subservient Gerash. I don't usually post that much in NS, if at all, though, so I don't suppose that helped any...
Mankita
05-02-2005, 04:48
Mankitans are a cross between bats, snakes, fish, and ogres. We're working toward gaining technological components through trade with the Borg nation BLACKGRUE.
El Sentiel
05-02-2005, 04:57
El Sentiel has two species Kzinti and humans. kzinti being the dominate species of the two. Not just by numbers (roughly 6 to 1 ratio).

We're roughly a months FTL travel from sol (good for defense but bad for trade)

and for those that don't know what a kzinti looks like I'll leave you with a picture of my leader.

Yeah, the Orion Sector is home to three (four) races of humaniods. Humans (a little different than earth humans), Worthens (tiger-people, sorry El Sentinel, not copying or anything), and the Zabrak (which are a blatant rip-off of Darth Maul's horned species from SW.)

The fourth species are the Aurals, an "extinct" species of demigods who were massacred by humans not so long ago. However, about four true Aurals still exist, and a number of "half-Aurals" or whatnot do as well. Read up on my RP's for info, but it's not documented in one place so doing so would take hours.
Cats Keep
05-02-2005, 05:47
The sound of cats laughing...

"Well some of us were human, some 12,000 odd years ago, but that long in Shadow, ....things change...."

..."and oh hush, I know you were never human... silly cats why would you want to be human?"

"Hey! Opposable thumbs are the only thing that keep us one step ahead of you"

"Sorry arguing with cats is a never win situation. There are a number of different races/ species in Cats Keep."

I would proclaim that I have a genetically pure, master human race.....but that would just lead to an easily engineered plague.

Hmmmmm, "aliens", I think you meant to say XENOSCUM. Does that answer your question? ^_~

Not to say that we aren't tolerant of non-humans (as evident from our various allies), we just aren't too open to.....new experiences.

This has been an ooc statement voiced in the ic third person.

The Arcane Order
05-02-2005, 17:17
The Arcane Order consists solely of the Arcanites themselves (referred to as the Ancient and Venerable Masters), who are effectively demigods (but can still be beaten by others - hence "demi"god). There are approxomately fifty of the Masters themselves and their ships are controlled by AIs (referred to as Mechanised Intellects) that revere the Masters as Gods.

The Masters will normall occupy a world for their personal use as a ship-building base, but these are certainly not given any emotional attachment and most Arcanites are just as happy to remain without any roots.

The Arcanites as a race/individuals are several million years old (but very few in number), cloning their forms (which are held in a form of stasis) to create a brain-pattern that fits their current research.

The Masters have very few emotions as we would understand them, feeling mostly curiousity and a desire to research as their driving need is for knowledge. Despite this they are in the habit of turning up at a system/galaxy and Harvesting it in order to gain needed resources.

Typically there will only be one Arcanite operating in a single galaxy at any given time.

The Ineffable Empire is entirely human. Except for The Great Ineffable Bob, and General Whang, who are both silver turtles. Description quoted from the Metus summit thread;
...a 7' 8" tall turtle, of the purest shining silver. It seemed almost to have an ethereal glow, and it's shell, far from being solid appeared to be rippling, fleeting shapes betraying the turmoil of emotions hidden beneath the impassive face, cruelly adorned with fangs and horns. Here and there there seemed to be other metals decorating the beast, white gold and platinum, and the shell was ringed with lapis lazuli and blue diamonds. A cold gaze looked out from two eyes as black and featureless as obsidian.
However, no-one except the highest echelons of command in Metus even suspect this, everyone else assumes them to be human.

I don't watch it. Is "Anchent" another word for the Atlantians?

Pretty much. The Ancients built the stargate network, and it was discovered that Atlantis is (was) a 'lost city' filled with the technology of the Ancients -- in the Pegasus Galaxy, I think. I don't follow it religiously, but I think that the Ancients either come from Atlantis, or at least made it their 'capital', or something to that effect.

My species originated on Earth some 125 million years BP and left 65 miilion years BP. We are in essence composed of a large number of genera and species of the ancient carniviourus dinosaurs that once inhabited Earth. As such, they are totally non-humanoid in appearance.

Our race was originally composed of various species of the Family "Maniraptoria" (often inaccurately called "raptors") and as the eons passed, we "uplifted" several other forms of carniviourus dinosaurs to serve various purposes within our civilization, which became increasingly caste based.

My planets have three species on them. The system is on the other side of the Milky Way to Sol, approxiamtely 90,000 light years away.

These are the species:
Species
Matrai: Very similar to humans, they have paler, almost white skin and possess great intelligence, with mild precognitive abilities, and are generally stronger than humans. Their respiratory systems are more specific, requiring purer air, and as such they are more vulnerable to airborne pollution and viruses. To counter this they tend to use respiratory devices, such as filter masks. Speak (Indoan) Common, but can learn Douri or Ramat. Are usually implanted with a neural interface/communcator. From Todera.

Douran: Evolved from ferret-type creatures, they are between 0.55m and 0.7m in height, with a short tail. Their fur varies from orange to dark brown in colour. They have four paws with human style hands, with two digits on each paw ending with a retractable claw (like that of a cat). They are proud creatures, with an established warrior culture. They are carnivorous. They speak both Common and Douri. Are sometimes implanted with a neural interface/communicator. From Todera.

Raishuv: Cold blooded reptilian carnivorous humanoids. There are two types, the basic Raishuv-Pyx, and the genetically modified warrior Raishuv-Sab. From Chaldar.

Basic “Raishuv-Pyx”: Approximately 1.5m in height, with dark green/brown scales, breathes nitrogen. They have poisonous fangs which inject debilitating neurotoxins. They form a low grade hive-mind, giving them all above average intelligence, and can regrow lost limbs, albeit slowly, but have a generic mild visual impairment. Their hands (and feet) have three fingers and a thumb, with the fingers ending in claws. Can speak both Common and Ramat.

Warrior “Raishuv-Sab”: Approximately 2m in height, the main physical difference between the Warrior and the Basic Raishuv is the taller, bulkier body. They possess great strength and are very robust creatures, making them hard to kill. Their eyesight is better, their claws are generally larger and their poison glands have been altered to inject fatal rapid-acting neurotoxins. Their growth has been accelerated, vastly decreasing their lifespan. Due to the genetic manipulation, they are significantly less intelligent than their basic counterparts and practically rely on direct instruction from the hive mind. The hive-mind can be replaced by a link to a ship’s AI if it becomes necessary to put Raishuv-Sab on naval vessels for combat operations elsewhere.

The Plutonian Empire
27-02-2005, 08:49
The Plutonian Empire is Terran. HOWEVER, the Empire does have entirely self-governed states. One of them is Belle Hades, in the Deneb star system 3228 lightyears from Earth. THEY are non-terran. :)

OOC: I am planning to start an RP with one or two of my non-terran puppets. First, however, I need to complete or get out of one or two wars I'm in, but it seems unlikely those RP's will be finished. :(
The Eastern Bloc

This is the Eurydian Republic's population at a glance...

Population Breakdown:
85% Eurydian
13% Earther/Terran/Human
.5% Ve'Iteri (Eurydian)
1.5% Other (Pop. too small to count)

Eurydians are very average people. They resemble Earthers (Eurydice's name for Terrans/Humans) in almost every way. Hair color does tend to be more drastic and defined. If someone's hair color is red, then it is as red as red can be. You don't find many blondes in the Eurydian Republic.

Average height for a Eurydian male is 5'10", and the average weight is 172.4 pounds. Average height for a woman is 5'7", and the average weight is 131.1 pounds. Due to Eurydian cuisine, which is high in protein, carbohydrates, and contains little fat or cholesterol, most people are very thin. To become fat on Eurydice would take a very strong commitment on the eater's part.

Earthers make up a large percentage of the population. After the portal between the Sol System and the Rigard System became operational, the Earthers began to flock to the Republic's exotic colony worlds, Intari and Corsica. You find very few Earthers on Eurydice itself, but a large population exists on our premier colonies.

The Ve'Iteri are a separate Eurydian race that has evolved from a completely different ancestral line. They have truly begun to expand their influence only in the last 2,000 years, and the number of Ve’iteri is slowly growing. As it stands today, there are roughly 35 million Ve'Iteri living on Eurydice out of a 4.5+ billion Eurydian society.

Their body structure is vastly different from Eurydians. Their legs are reverse-jointed, like chickens, and they have soft, blue skin that looks like it should be on a poorly made alien costume. Their eyes are golden, and they have no mouths to speak with. Their ears are four slits that run along either side of their head. They have no hair. Ve'Iteri communicate telepathically.

Strict laws have been passed prohibiting experimentation on the Ve'Iteri species. Unfortunatly, most Eurydians regard them with extreme suspicion, and so the Ve'iteri live their lives out in small, nomadic groups far away from Eurydian civilization. A few, however, have volunteered for studies and tests on Ve'Iteri telepathic abilities, in hopes that one day Eurydians and Ve'Iteri will begin to understand each other.

The "Other" category applies to all other sentient species, including, but not limited to Elves, Orcs, Trolls, Easterlings, Walruses, Lizards, and Dragons. Their separate populations are too small to give an accurate reading. Most individual populations would number in the 100,000-1,000,000 ranges.

Skeelzania
30-04-2005, 10:02
OOC means "out of character". In other words your speaking as a player of NS, and not as your nation.

Skeelzania is composed almost entirely of a human offshoot imaginatively named the Skeelzanians (Homo Skeelzae). They look like normal earth humans, aside from the following:

Average height is roughly 7 feet tall. Six is considered short wheras eight is "really tall".

Correspondingly stronger than your normal human.

Resistant to roughly three times as much radiation as normal humans. This and the following 2 traits are both derived from living on a planet with a higher gravitational pull and background radiation than Earth. The planet itself is three times Earth's size, but since I'm lousy with math I pulled the other numbers out of a hat.

Another, possibly related trait is a natural resistance to pyschic attacks or manipulation. Although they can be brainwashed as easily as the next terran, your fancy-smants Jedi mind tricks won't work all that great. You can still use your pyschic powers to pick up a box and throw it at them, but you can't directly manipulate the Skeelzanian himself.

The Combine contains several main species, most of which contain subspecies.

Goblins: By far the most common species in the Combined Goblin Collective.
- GreatGoblins form the royal family, between five and six feet tall with a rich green skin. Significantly more intelligent than most humans.
- BladeGoblins: height varies between six and seven feet tall and very, very thin with with a rich green skin slightly paler than that of a GreatGoblin. The BladeGoblins form the vast majority of the nobility and are formed into the Ducal Houses, with each world in the Combine being ruled by a Duke (each system ruled by one of the High Princes).
- GateGoblins are so named because they control Gate Station and Entry Gate for the Goblin King. As the Gateway is the only way to actually enter the Goblin Nebula they hold an important position. GateGoblins are also the Combine's best pilots and are obsessed wtih flight. GateGoblin appearance is hard to define, save that they all have a much lighter frame than other Goblins due to having lived their entire life in space.
- Cunnin'uns are, with an IQ of about 80, more intelligent than the vast majority of Goblindom (most of whom are TypcalGoblins, Lil'uns or Big'uns) and vary immensely in build and skin colour, but have a height between two-and a half five feet tall. While that is not very specific, most Cunnin'uns are permanently trying to assert that they are Cunnin's rather than TypcalGoblins anyway.
- Big'uns are, as you might have guessed, big. Big'uns are the same height as GreatGoblins, but far wider across the shoulders and with a great deal of muscle. Their skin colour varies immensely but does not cross into the rich greens that the GreatGoblins are distinctive for. Big'uns are the standard heavy labour force in the Combined Goblin Collective. Not very bright.
- TypcalGoblins: I bet you can't guess what these are? "Typical Goblins", they are small, irritating and not very bright. They form the vast majority of Goblins in the Collective.
- Lil'uns average 18" tall as adults, but can grow up to about 30" and as short as 12" when grown. They typically have pale green or brown skin and are the most paranoid species of Goblin, probably because people keep stepping on them.

Trolls and Ogres
- Trolls are large, reasonably intelligent and extremely varied with a large number of subspecies, such as the Rock Trolls with their stone skin, or the River Trolls who live beneath bridges collecting the King's Bridge Taxes. There are many other species of trolls, but they are uniformly large, strong and frequently recruited into the military where they specialise in Space boarding-actions, leading the Goblin forces into enemy ships and shrugging off firepower. The main exception to this particular role in the military are the Ice Trolls who are able perform minor shapeshifting and are able to survive in space if provided with an air source, this makes them very useful for repairing parts of ships without having to try and construct a space suit that actually works.
- Ogres are large, like trolls, stupid, unlikes trolls and slightly more uniform in appearance. Ogres are very popular as bouncers and jobs involving very heavy labour where machinery is inconvenient. They fulfil a similar military role to to Trolls.

Common Non-Nebula Races
- Humans are very common in the Combine, often people fleeing from persecution/the law in other nations who chose the Combine as the perfect place to hide, or as scribes who are always in demand for writing letters to friends or allies in non-Goblin nations and translaters for Goblin traders leaving the nebula.
- Elves are surprisingly common. The vast majority are outlaws hiding the Goblin Lands, some are scholars studying the Nebula and others simply enjoy the massive change in environment and organisation (or lack thereof). The King has an adopted elfin daughter, originally the child of outlaw who became friends with King Griptite before dying of an illness.

If you look hard enough, you will find that most races have at least a few members somewhere within the Combine, although they might have absolutely no idea why they came there, or were fleeing from the law/some other form of persecution, or have come on a drinking holiday - the Combine's most popular source of tourism.

Plasmaoid beings about a cubickilometre in size, amorphous bodies held together by $electromagnetism, living on and in the sun, uncertain just how the solid creatures on the cold planets can survive, seeing as they don't even have the minimum temperature of 5000 Kelvin that is necessary for life to develop...

Everyone with a weirder main species than me gets a cookie.
Kanuckistan
30-04-2005, 14:12
Kanuckistani are roughly 5% hunam, on average; the remaining 95% is a wide assortment of species, most tracing their origin to Terra or a paralell version of it - Pre-Confederation history gets fuzzy real quick as you go back - and an ever-growing portion of scratch-designed enginered races.

Most individuals carry signifigant genetic engineering in their liniage, however, and species reassignment is increasingly common.

(check out the uber-crappy map in the thingy in my signature!!1)

Solid map, but the claims are stupidly huge. Even your 'current' empire is over a thousand lightyears across; there'd be millions of stars in there - hell, there are over a quarter million just within 250 lightyears of Sol.

My planets have three species on them. The system is on the other side of the Milky Way to Sol, approxiamtely 90,000 light years away.

90'000 lightyears in any direction is beyond the edge of the galaxy; my own nation occupies an isolated star cluster 5000 lightyears beyond the Rim, opposite the Core from Sol, and it's only ~75'000 lightyears from Earth.

Ok, I've elaborated...

1% Human - 6'2" Average - Terran, mostly displaced humans from the Cherry Ridge evacuations, making Catholisism the #1 human Religion next to Athiesm. Humans in Siesatia are several generations removed from their earthly anscestors, and are peaceful, moral peoples.
46% Burmecian - 7'4" Average - From Gaia, (Final Fantasy IX) they follow strict moral guidelines, and were the origional inhabitants of the Siesatian Capital world... Gaia.
53% Raptor - 8'7" Average - From Earth origionally, ressurected by a group of rouge scientists, they have gone far beyond their expectations, becoming incredibly pacifistic, some have even gone Vegitarian.

More information specifically on the Omar is in my signature [EDIT: In my factbook, follow the link]. THe Biomechanical species lives on the fringes of the Orion sector and ius recovering from the nova of their main system, the Osente system.
The Serene Death
30-04-2005, 17:28
The Serene Death has 3 species: Humans, Can-Toi, and Low Men.

Can-Toi means children of the desert, as they came from the desert planet Taheena. They are a race of beings that appear as vaguely human creatures with various animal characteristics, such as feathers and beaks, fur and faces somewhat looking like animals, and in rare cases tails. The Can-toi are taller than and live a lot longer than humans. Physically they seem to be pretty much be like humans besides appearance.

Low Men are a mongrel race that comes from the crossing of a Can-Toi and a Human. Sometimes also called False Can-Toi. The have glowing red eyes, a slightly deformed face, sharp teeth, and a large nose.

Sorry, I was working from the figure that the galaxy was approximately 100,000 ly across. And since our sun is on the edge of the galaxy, near the end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy, and my system is near the end of the eastern spiral arm of the galaxt, it would be perfectly possible.

Going from the figure in that map, my system would be just over 85,000 ly from Sol.
Emperor Dalek

...

Daleks. Mark 2 versions - (the technology of the Daleks shown in the new Doctor Who series are to be tested out over this time.)

We also have a loyal number of robomen which are bipedial humanoid lifeforms interfused with mechanical aids and controlling devices. The same with clones.

There are various unusual mutant monstrosities on Skaro. The recent Human/thal coloonists we recently exterminated there hunted several of them and sold them on the Galatic market for the toughness of their skin, meat and in some cases, toughness of shells. Trading in this has, obviously, stopped.
