Nine months ago, a tragic malfunction of Mirfakan Friend or Foe identificaion systems resulted in the destruction of a Mirfakan vessel and the death of all thirty crewmembers. After that incident, all FoF detection software was deactivated on Labule units. Today marks the restoration of this vital component to Labule starships and facilities, as new detection software is uploaded to all Labule computers. The new system has an FtR (Failure to Recognize) occurance of 1/893,041 and a FD (Faulty Detection) occurance of 1/9,839,103,756,903 with known ships, well above standards, and automatically rechecks targets for accuracy, giving it a Real FtR ocurance of about one in eight billion and a faulty detection of under one in ninty-six septillion scans. Though not perfect, this system, which relies on transponder signals, radio codes, and target design to discern vessel types, is expected to prevent incidents of maldetection that might result in future casualties of friendly fire.
