Is it so terribly wrong to be a Dictator?

Is it? DICTATORS UNITE! (not literally, of course, because we're dictators!)

It's certainly possible for dictators to unite (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=277559) and cooperate. It just requires the right mindset.

Dictatorship simply means that you rule over your nation without opposition. You know what's best, and you enforce it. It doesn't mean you can't follow others or cooperate, it simply means in your own territory your word is law. It's as simple as that.

Unfortunately, due to some unfortunate history with folks like Stalin, Pol Pot and others, dictatorships have received some very bad press. That's why it's so vitally important for us to keep our hands and noses scrupulously clean. We're held to a higher standard than everyone else.

Are you serious?

Sweet Jesu, if being a dictator is wrong, I've been doing things entirely wrong from the start.

I don't plan on changing now, regardless. Best of luck in your endeavors.

Too true, I say. You have to remember the good dictators with the bad, like the Perons of Argentina or any of the early czars of Russia that lacked the suffix "the Terrible". You don't have to oppress the populace or abuse your power as a dictator, on the contrary it serves your purposes better if you don't, in most cases. That way you get respect from both the anti-democratic peoples and the rabid human-rights activists. Of course, you could simply not care about one side or the other, but from my experiences it's usually better to not care about the hippies if anyone. They don't tend to fight back.

But I digress. There's nothing wrong with being a dictator as long as you don't think for a second you're invincible. When that happens, you and people around you are very susceptable to bullet-in-the-head-itus, and good old-fashioned governmental overthrow. The smart fix for this is to scare the shit out of your minions a la Nathi/AMF/Melkor, and THEN have your ego trip.
