Karmanyaka

Sir Richard Loke walked down the silent corridor, the sound of his black boots and the soft rustling of the purple-lined black cloak echoing between the pillars. His mind was buzzing with thoughts as he emerged from the halls of the Council of Knights and headed towards the black limousine waiting for him. He had just been appointed 37th Lord Tengil by a unanimous Council. Aged 44, sir Richard was the youngest in the history of Karmanyaka ever to become ruler. But then again these were different times, troublesome times. Karmanyaka was seriously threatened by the rebels of the Lionheart movement, their grafitti covering the walls of the poorer parts of Wild Rose Valley.
One of the Knights had been missing at the Council just held. A bomb had exploded outside his home the day before, killing both sir Veder and his two sons, injuring his wife. Three months earlier another Knight was shot in his office by an assassin who'd died while being apprehended. Drastic measures had now been taken to ensure the safety of the members of the Council of Knights. Those separatists were making it difficult governing the realm and the Council were eager to appoint a new ruler since the Lord Tengil Piter's untimely demise almost a month ago.
The comfortable security of the limousine and the powerful escort only served to emphasize the threats against him. Lord Tengil Loke was now the most hated man in all of Karmanyaka. There wasn't a price on his head, many would kill him for free hoping only to gain a little more freedom for the people. Well, they were wrong. Killing Loke would only mean mass arrests, martial law and more troops on the streets. He knew this and so did the terrorists. Loke wasn't an evil man, he didn't enjoy killing his enemies. He was however a practical man and he knew when to set examples. This had given him the respect and admiration of many powerful men and women. Large parts of the people put their hopes in him to bring wealth and justice to Karmanyaka. Maybe he could.
The inauguration ceremony at the Tengil Palace had drawn a couple of hundred thousand people. Waving flags and a storm of cheers met the cars as the rolled into the square. Just as the rounded the great statue of the first Lord Tengil atop his screaming dragon, a man hauled a large stone at the limousine carrying the Secretary of the Council. Immediately three guards rushed forth and beat the man to the ground, muting his screams of "The war of liberation has come!!" with their heavy truncheons. As the last car passed the monument the limp body was dragged away to a nearby truck.
The roar of the crowd filled the air between the tall buildings lining the large square as Lord Tengil Loke and his staff ascended the stairs towards the dais. The Lord Tengil himself never speaks to the people in public, instead one of his Knights communicates his words. The Lord Tengil's Herald is, next to the Secretary of the Council, the second most important member of Karmanyakas government. The Herald stepped up to the microphone. A fanfare sounded and the crowd became silent, or at least as close to silent as a quarter of a million people can be.
The inauguration speech went on for approximately 15 minutes and mentioned the dangerous situation in the country, the increased military spending to counter the threats to the population posed by the terrorists, the importance of forging new alliances within the international community and of course the many new reforms to bring Karmanyakas economy to the top and its people to work. As always the speech ended with the phrase "All power to Tengil - our liberator!" Then it was time for the parade and column after column of troops marched through the square to the deafening accompaniment of military music. Tanks, cannons, jeeps, trucks, missile launchers, cavalry troops and more tanks rumbled past the palace and jet fighters painted the sky in black, purple and red.
When the last column of the Dragon Cubs children brigade had past the podium happily waving their flags it was time for the festivities began. The Council and some thousand guests attended the banquet while the city prepared for the festival that would go on until the next day. Curfew was lifted this one night and no-one stayed indoors. People filled the streets and soldiers were on leave to see their families. At the same time there was a massive mobilization of security forces and the police and militia had people everywhere.
After the banquet had ended there was dancing and partying until the morning, and Loke had time to think for the first time since the morning before. His first mission as ruler was to make new allies, secondly he'd have to deal with the terrorists of the Lionheart movement. Now where could Karmanyaka find understanding friends...?

I'm a bit new to this, so please don't hesitate to give me tips about RP and stuff. Karmanyaka is a mountainous country which has a short stretch of mostly uninhabited coast, but it's not an island nation. The country needs a suitable region... And I admit that Karmanyaka is inspired by Astrid Lindgren's book "The Brothers Lionheart".
