The district of Savique is to call council elections for March, despite the national Senate still being on hold following independence. Savique would be the first of Aava Maa's five districts to call a poll.

Formerly a SDP stronghold, support for conservative and Christian groups has flourished across Savique, with the Christian Democratic Party holding the balance of power in the Council dissolved during UMS occupation. Savique's interim Council President, Ulem Uskos, hopes to hold all-party discussions in conjunction with the electoral commission in due course.

The Bank of Aava Maa has warned inflation could rise to as high as 20% in the immediate aftermath of independence. Trade talks with various nations have been put on hold following the Department of Trade's report into the possible negative effects of independence on job prospects. The Bank's report cites the cost of funding compenstation and importing goods as the main reason for the surge in unemployment and inflationary pressures.

Members of the Student's Union are to march in the capital, Makedon, to protest against the delay in calling a national election. The SU want the interim council to be dissolved as soon as possible, citing general unrest and lethargy as a direct result of the lack of a firm date for a poll. SU president, Kya Adharidasalam, told The Voice newspaper that the march would be peaceful but would not rule out standing up for those who caused civil unrest. Throughout UMS occupation, the SU continued to operate despite threats against their properties.

YgliTent district council have forced a 87 year old dental surgeon to retire on health grounds. Kirik Filduc had been working at varioud surgeries across Aava Maa for 40 years, but has been told retirement is the only option because of health and safety fears. A spokesperson for the council said that while they understood Mr Filduc had no family left and very little prospects of life following the decision, they had to ensure he did not suffer ill health in his old age.
