The Knowledge, which was formalaly the first Strength ship in the Techon fleet. The ship was one of four Pride class ships. The other three, the Pride, Strength, and Glory used for military purposes. Each ship is fifty km long, on the front of the ship its five km wide, but at the very back its fifteen km wide. The height is around two km in the front, but towards the back is around 8 km. One of the biggest ships in all of Techon.

The history of the Knowledge is a scarred one. After John Hayyes took control over Techon, he began to build the other two Pride class ships, which became the Glory and Strength. When Imitus VI was freed from his prison cell where he had been locked in under false accusition he took control of the Pride. He used the mega-ship to gain influence back in Techon. Hayyes used the Strength to stop him, but the Pride damaged the the Strength to a point where it was just to be left where it was and never touched.

When Jonas, Imitus VI's son came into power of Techon, he took the Strength and rebuilt it into the Knowledge. It was to be used as an international research vessel. The crew aboard it varies from many different species from all over the galaxy. It's purpose is to go into unknown space and research it. However it is not just scientific research, it is also a military ship. Just as there are scientists from different nations, there are soldiers and officers.

The top of the ship almost appears to be a giant city, with towers all over, a vast transportation system includes; elevators, and very fast subways. Throughout the massive ship there are hundreds of different sections. Labs dot all over on all the levels, just as do military bases. There are also hundreds of different fast food resturaunts, cantinas, stores, and even malls. Placed here and there in a pattern are living quarters where the men and women will return to after a hard days work.

----------------------------------------------------

Admiral Haridan sat in the control seat on board the bridge. He was the commanding officer throughout the entire ship, and took great honor in that. The bridge itself was giant, almost seeming like an entire office building on one floor, with enough space to move around like normal. The officers and techs in the bridge were from all over, just like the rest of the crew was.

"Sir," said a tech from a station nearby. "We are approaching the destined planet. It seems to be a barren wasteland, almost no water is anywhere on it."

"What about life forms?" Asked the Admiral.

"Well, we have been picking up many strange signs from the planet, just as we have been picking up strange signs dotting around in space as well," The tech said. "We think that there might actually be a living creature in space."

"Your point? We do it all the time," the Admiral said.

"No, I don't mean with space suits, or other technology helping them survive, I mean these creatures are living by themselves in space," The tech said.

***

Colonel Draith sat in a chair in one of the many military bases all over the ship. His feet were resting up on a table and his gun was lying on his lap. He was wearing standard marine armor, a semi-heavy green metal top that resembled somewhat of a full torso football padding. He had short cut brown hair, and was rather muscular.

"Colonel," a leuitenant said approaching him. "Admiral Haridan wanted me to inform you that we are reaching the designated planet."

The Colonel looked at him for a moment and there was an awkward silence "And?"

"I don't know sir, he just wanted me to tell you," The leuitenant said.

"Well ok, thank you Joshon, its good to know that," Draith said.

***

Lab 0101 was in a giant mess, scientists were running all over grabbing their equipment. Soon they would head down to the planet and begin research, this was all very fascinating to them. They were taking almost everything that they could take. The room was completely crowded, it was almost impossible to get anywhere due to the crowd. James Smar was one of those people. He stood in the middle of the crowd, with a duffel bag on his shoulder, as he got shoved back and forth.

He looked up at the time; 11:30 AM

Then a message rang throughout the entire ship. "Landing parties, prepare to land."

OOC: Alright guys, join in. This is going to be a sort of thriller, gory, horror RP. Your character has to come from your country, either being in the military, or a scientist. They have to be onboard the Knowledge, for that is where majority of the RP will take place. Alright, join in. By the way, this RP is rated R due to...well whatever your sick minds can think of when the real carnage starts :p . Also another note, your characters can get aboard landing craft, but no landing craft are to take off.

[OOC: Listen, if I go easy on you, that's around 554,445,000,000 tonnes, no? Even if it was an insanely light material, that's ridiculously large. I'd estimate you'd need 1000 MT/s thrust to even move that behemoth, and that's without a large gravity force. Unless you use a Zero-point energy system.]

[[OOC

On further discussion with Leth even if you could generate the thrust we can't think of any material that could support it without drastically increasing the ships mass.. and then you need more thrust ..and then you need more support, and so on and so forth.

We considered a thin ship made out of ultra light materials, but for the size the only thing that would be economic would be rough spun silica with ferrous iron supports. Um ..the mass would still be horrendous. We thought about bucky material but even it doesn’t have the support to weight ratio necessary. Ur..
and you can't consider denser options as that would increase the already insane mass.

That ship right there is just undoable . You can build an orbital on that scale but not anything that can act as a ship. Not without culture style technology levels that can alter basic universal laws. Even then ..why would you NEED that much size and mass?

[[OOC This is not a flame nor were the previous entries. They were not even in the form of flames, rather a blunt statement followed by two arguments against the validity of such vessels being used even in the context of fictional story telling. This is constructive criticism of role-play, not a flaming.

I just felt that your rp has elements that need far more of a suspension of belief than is credible even in science fiction. Neither of us had even seen such vessels posted last June, this is the first time we have heard of them, so we criticise them now. They stretch the 4th wall to the very limit, and as all backdrops have too, do not speed up the story telling by their existence, which is neither aesthetically pleasing or unique in description or execution. They are unneeded and counter productive elements to the story line that actively work against immersing one in a fictional world by there extreme unreal nature. /OOC]

OOC: It's not actually that hard to build fifty km long spaceships, just takes a while. After all, the Empire built a Death Star. It's a sphere, so it's a good choice for a ship shape. For non-spherical ships, it'll just take some good structural integrity/magnetic fields and a good working knowledge of 3-D geometry and engineering, and good inertial compensators to help with thrust. Oh, and the ship's mass is not just one block of material with an engine. It's distributed across it's largest side, which is length. And another thing: The ship is mostly hollow, so you might want to reduce that mass some.

Star Wars is not a reliable source when it comes to engineering. And as such, completely worthless as a pro- übership argument. Apart from that, 'structural Integrity' fiields are a somewhat bad idea, given that you just have to turn off a switch to have it crumble... Statics work better. And for the mass, I'm fairly certain they already included that part in their calculations.

[[OOC We worked it out using the reference of a modern day car. I just can't see a warship massing much less per cubic Km. In fact really it should mass more even given massive technological prowess, were being very charitable by using a modern car as our mass index base. When I say "we" Leth did all the work.

As for inertial compensatory systems you run up against the same issue as bracing upon this scale no matter the materials used, a ship this big would need ..well huge ones, and they would add yet more mass to deal with thus increasing the energy needed to be transferred about the ship thus meaning bigger and more energy production and provision systems not to mention the energy they themselves would need which would be truly astronomical. I’m not saying you couldn’t generate it I’m just saying moving it would be one hell of a hoot. I just find it hard to believe that such a ship would have small inertial compensatory systems even if it tried. Heavens the thing is so large it would have to have bracing against its own microgravity. It all just adds up and up.

As for the death star reference as much as limited star wars tech is fine when people start throwing planetoid’s around with that sort of fire power and technological base I start feeling the need to reach for a Dahak and well then you start needing tissues. Lots ..and lots of tissues. I think my criticisms preeeeety much can stand up on their own from this point. Now even if you can justify the ship as possible can you justify its existence? What purpose does all that space serve?

As a small side note if I was to ever get this bad read the works of James P. Hogan , in particular the minerva series. Now that’s an oversized all powerful technological system. /OOC]]

Cyrian space

Doctor Leukan snatched his equipment and ran. There was supposed to be life on this rock, life that could live without an atmosphere, and he had to find out how in the name of his greatest grandfather that was possible. Ever since he had transferred himself to this vessel, he'd had a sort of anxiety building in him, that something was going to happen and it was going to change biology forever. And being a biologist, he would do anything in his power to be at the forefront of these events.
It had been a bit hard fitting in with the almost entirely human crew. With his yellowish gold fur, he stuck out like a smashed finger. But the same differences made it possible for him to get on a landing craft before any other scientists. A human had once remarked to him that cyrian's ran like wolves, a predatory creature native to earth. That speed and endurance paid off now, as he got into the first landing craft and buckled himself in.

Not to mention its useless you could have tons of smaller ships in place of a freaking uber ship, it makes no sense and I DO ignore the death star

James Smar crawled with his duffel bag into one of the many landing craft, along with the waves of others. They all filtered through the ship sitting down in seats next to others they worked with or were friends with. He looked around and saw an empty seat, he took a seat there, next to a gold haired biologist. He looked at the other, smiled, and nodded.

"Dr. Leukan," He said as he put his duffel bag on his lap. "Ready to go see what the scanners were picking up from the planet?"

Tamar Joaquin gripped his weapin as he escorted several scientists to the landing craft. He was a large, muscular hebrew man who was assigned to escort a bunch of nerdy scientists to study god knows what amazing insect it was today.

They always were ready to astound the world with some amazing discovery but the most amazing thing they had found to date were some fossils on some oxygen-rich planet which really wasn't all that amazing.

Still, he was getting paid to do this so he might as well do it right. They took their seats on a landing craft and waited for take off.

***************

Kapel Walkel sat aboard the landing ship waiting with Tamar. He could not sit still and had no intention of attempting to. This was an amazing moment in history and he couldn't wait.

A being that can survive in the abyss of space? It was an astounding thought. It was a thing scientist dreamed of discovering and he had the opportunity to do it. His thoughts drifted off as he waited...totally unaware that he would never leave this ship again.

Sergeant William Romolsson had just finished briefing his 10-member Kill Team as the call to board the landing craft went on. He stood up and let out a brief sigh. Facing his team, he announced: “Alright, Ladies and Gents. This is it. Remember, Landing Craft 18, and turn your safeties off – we’re the first ones in, and the last out. I want you all on the Craft in 3. Move out.”

His squad filed out of the room, and headed toward the craft. William picked up the picture of his wife, kissed it, and tucked it into his vest pocket. He then marched out of the room and proceeded to follow his squad toward Craft 18.

Everyone was about ready to go. THe shuttles started getting ready to leave, but down in a lab a scientist made a discovery.

He glanced over the screen, and noticed all the space life forms were moving for the ship. They were swarming all around it, moving in.

(OOC: Bleh...crappy and short I know but I felt like moving the plot along)
