President Smith: "So we've entered a team in that whole under-21 shennanigan again, then?"

Unnamed helper: "Indeed we have. And to be honest, we haven't done that badly since you put that Simon Greaves in charge. He's work wonders for them."

President Smith: "I know, but I can't help thinking I've been letting people down by not sacking the manager in comical fashion at the end of every cup."

Unnamed helper: "You've done the right thing, sir."

President Smith: "I can't help thinking I haven't."

Unnamed helper: "Sir, honestly, it's OK."

President Smith: "I'm going to ring Greaves up now."

Unnamed helper: "Sir, you can't just sack him for no reason. And anyway, it hasn't started yet."

President Smith (on hte phone): "Hello... Ah, Simon... Yes... Well, I have a predicament... Well, the people of Druida seem to be disappointed that I haven't sacked the Under-21s football manager for a few cups, and I know you're doing a good job, but I have a proposal for you..."

The next day...

The Daily Druid

MONKEY BECOMES MANAGER
GREAVES MOVES UPSTAIRS, SQUAD ANNOUNCED.

A monkey called Boris became the manager of the Druida Spectrums Under-21 football team. Boris has no previous experience, but will hopefully learn from his predicessor Simon Greaves, who has taken the role as 'Director of Young Football'.

What exactly this role is still remains unsure, but it obviously doesn't involve reading the squad out to the media, as that was left to Boris yesterday. Unfortunately, all he could do was suck on his thumb for a few minutes before stealing one of the reporters' wigs and swinging from the light fittings.

However, a squad sheet was handed to everyone, so the Druida spectrums, with a completely new line up from last time, allowing for the expansion of the nation, and it reads as follows.

Usual starters
1) Trevor Perry (19, GK, Cranbury United)
2) Trevor Llanfridd (19, LB, Llllllllllcwllllllll Rovers)
3) Angus McCootey (18, RB, Dinamo Neodzki)
4) Trevor Ellis (20, CB, Parkville)
5) Trevor Orange (17, CB, Bessburg)
6) Iean Williams (20, CM, Cefn Albion)
7) Terry Brown (19, RM, Cefn Albion)
8) Paul Rowntree (20, CM, Cefn Athletic)
9) Trevor Lewis (20, CF, Graymouth)
10) Trefor Defnyddiwch (16, CF, Druid Tribune)
11) Trevor Rivers (20, LM, Parkville)

Others
12) Trefor Montenegro (16, CF, Druid Tribune)
13) Peter Manningtree (18, GK, Port Scadock Ramblers)
14) Trevor Fic (19, CB, Trevor City)
15) Ricky Mallon (18, CM, Newton Vale)
16) Riccardo Eduno (20, RM, Dinamo Neodzki)

Some phonecalls:
"Hejida, here Jen Y"
"Hejida, Teke Daran here"
(a sound is heard, after a second or so, we realise that Jen Y has ended the call as soon as he knew that he was talking to the president of the ASR)
-------
"Hejida?" (in a desinterested and/or tired voice)
"Hejida, Teken Daran here"
"Oh... well, ... I am sorry about that bug... I never assumed such thing to happen at all..."
"Well, I want to ask something else: Can Hexatux manage two teams..."
"I am busy debugging, don't suggest features!"
"That is a no"
"indeed"
"Okay, Va'il veka!"
"Va'il veka alnany!"
----------
"Jatajaja? Namin Linkosa'he."
"Hejida, Teke Daran here..."
"Desperated, dispaired and depressed about finding an U21 coach"
"Indeed, I am. I excuse for my insults against you for your tactics in the world cup and I ask you to please coach the U21!"
"Okay, but don't interfere with my tactical decisions!"

New coach, new team

The Jeruselem U21 team for the 11th championships had a new look. With the best of the 10th championship team in the World Cup XX finals, it was time for some new blood. The former coach Rabbi Goldstein is coaching the World Cup XX team so was his cousin as Assistant Manager.

Former U21 star of the past, James Stuart is now the new coach with plenty of U21 and World Cup experience to bring to his chargers. James Stuart is also the current coach of Beersheba United.

Jeruselem as twice champs are seeded 4th and face many familiar World Cup faces as usual. However, last years champs Reijistania are looking to add another U21 to it's trophy cabinet while Jeruselem want the Trinity now.

Names to watch out for include:
Darius Belizaire: Almost certain to be given the Number 10 shirt for the 20th World Cup, Belizaire is a red-hot striker starting to show all the promise that pundits have endowed him with.
Syku Lyku-Agbayani: Nicknamed by bot-so-witty Starblaydi fans as "Slani", this half-Rejistanian had an excellent time in the Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football, where he bagged hatfuls of goals.
Martin Watt: A utility defender/midfielder, Watt's rise through the Peaks' Youth System has prepared him well for International Competition. Should also gain a place on the World Cup 20 bench for Starblaydia.
Zhorin Tumunzahar: The only Dwarf in the side, Zhorin has a heck of a powerful shot, though headers aren't his strong point.

And Starblaydia U-21s' chances?
Same as always, really. They'll either go out in the Second Round to some no-name team, or they'll go nearly all the way and end up coming third or something.

Klein was dead. Not literally of course, but in a manner that suggests that perhaps something untoward will happen to him in the future. Regardless of its meaning, the thought ran through my mind all day, and I accidentally typed it into the roster for U21WC11. It was just my good luck that I realised it before printing it out, and it took a mere eighty-seven nanoseconds for me to edit it out. When I had finished I leaned back in my chair, as usually happens when I'm feeling smug and pleased with myself - it was like laundry day: you feel rotten whilst doing it, but once it's done, and there's a pile of fresh laundry by your side, there are few better feelings in the world. My laundry day was now over, and I could sit back and let somebody else hang it out to dry. I don't know why, but I felt in a housekeeping-metaphor type of mood...

We were seeded relatively highly for this tournament, and a win in the group stage could propel us into the top eight - the holy grail of U21 football. Were I to see it in my lifetime, I would feel...elated, to say the very least, but that's enough about me, let's get on with the story.

The roster was ready for print; just as well considering the deadline was in a smidgeonbob of minutes. I scan-read it once more, just to make sure I hadn't overlooked a 'Klein is dead' in their somewhere:

Manager
Winfred Alagna

Goalkeepers
Collin Ollmann
Vito Hidden
Emory Nadile

Defenders
Vito Oleksy
Cruz Rudisail
Dick Bridgette
Collin Kovalcik
Denver Angeline
Collin Ungerleider
Irwin Supernault

Midfielders
Trenton Baughey
Winfred Dargis
Charley Bekius
Cleo Murello
Aurelio Sorells
Merlin Bumpas
Kirby Stoutt

Strikers
Silas Yantzer
Trenton Zimlich
Hunter Sodeman
Marcelino Needam

There had been a few rule changes since the last U21WC. Now players weren't allowed to be assigned numbers, and it was now illegal to publicly display the team a player plays for on a roster sheet - something to do with the Data Protection Act, or something equally stupid. I wasn't going to exert myself by trying to find out, so I printed it off and handed it to Klein's assistant, who handed it to Klein, who threw it in the bin, as usual. Why was I asked to waste my time every two years with this job? I don't know, maybe I'm special...
Sarzonia
28-01-2005, 18:28
Coach Cal Trottier announced the roster for the seventh U21 competition for the Sarzonian Junior Stars:

ROSTER (starters in BOLD)

GOALKEEPERS:
22 Harvey Cooley (Syossett State College): Cooley set a school record with 12 clean sheets in 18 matches. The 21 year old was dominant at the last Under 21 World Cup.
18 Tom Beneditto (New Daurmont Dragons - amateur): Beneditto served as the reserve goalkeeper on the last World Cup team. At 19 years old, he should be a mainstay on the national team for years to come.

DEFENDERS:
28 Jonah Willard (Woodstock University): Tremendously gifted defender who can play all four positions in a back four, Willard's versatility has earned him a spot on the team at 20 years old.
34 Alain Beaumont (Syossett Scouts): The expansion Scouts signed him to a development contract despite just turning 19 years old after he graduated from high school a year early. He earned his way into the Scouts starting 11 after training camp.
13 Ettore Salivani (no affiliation): This recent emigre from Pacitalia made the team by being a dogged defender and can play either halfback position. This 17 year old is not well-suited to play sweeper.
9 Roger Torotello (Tyrol Tigers - minor league): The first major starter for the national team from the Tigers since midfielder Valentin Kienzl, this 18 year old hopes to follow in his footsteps.
27 Josh Cefcen (Wilmington College): A distant relative of one-time Krytenian national teamer Roger Cefcen, 19 year old Josh shares little of his ancestor's offensive skills, but is an instinctive defender.

MIDFIELDERS
11 Chris Dunham (Stephen Stills High School, Woodstock): Surprisingly physical for a 21 year old who consistently plays with older players, he easily won the starting job as a defensive midfielder.
24 Edward Manley (Woodstock Wild): The 21 year old is a natural on the right flank of midfield. His speed gives defenses fits though he tends to overrun the ball from time to time.
20 Pedro Alomades (St. George): Seemed to be born with a football at his feet. He has ballskills that veteran SFC players envy, but could use a lot of seasoning with a minor league team or the Junior Stars. At 20 years old, he is now one of the oldest of the Junior Stars.
35 Brent Tallisman (St. George): Can play either attacking or defensive midfield for his team although he's usually asked to mark the opposing team's top playmaking midfielders. At 19 years old, he's got a huge future ahead of him.
14 Tom Richards (Rypien City College): At 21 years old, Richard has more than enough experience to star for the national team after playing a combined 50 games between his college team and a local club team but he's going to be counted on off the bench.
36 Roy Tinsley (Rypien City College): Tinsley plays defense well enough to play as a defender if needed, but has just enough ball skills to join the attack if the team is out of substitutes. He's 19 years old.

FORWARDS:
16 Roy Spencer (Endymion State University): Steps in as a starting forward after the previous two forwards graduated from the Under 21 national team. Holds the ball extremely well. At 18 years old, expected to play withdrawn forward.
15 Dave Lord (Crosby College): Lord set a record for most goals by a high school player in a single season and in a career. At 19 years old, the team is hoping that translates to goals on the Under 21 national team.
8 Louise Hamm (Woodstock Dragons): The first female player in Sarzonian national team history, Hamm stars for the first-ever women's professional football team in Sarzonia. She just turned 21.

And so it began. The day of the first matches, and everyone was in a mildly expectant mood - that is to say, we thought we might not lose too badly. We had been drawn in a group with Sarzonia (the team that the SOFA Chief just had to back to win the whole thing), Dance 2 Revolution, the world number one in the full World Cup, and some weird team we'd never heard of before. Reports had it we were playing Dance 2 Revolution, and although they were unranked for this tournament, a poor start to the competition was wha had always taken precedence, and so we weren't holding our breath.

Now, the SOFA Chief had decided not to buy the U21 Department a holoscreen - after all, we were the most successful of all current departments! Then again, who needed a holoscreen when you had newspaper guy?

Newspaper guy, so called because of his affinity with paper hats, had been with the department for almost 5 years now - nobody knew how old he was, where he lived, or indeed what his real name was (his name tag was blank). Lately he had taken to carrying around an open umbrella indoors, and whilst we thought this bad luck, newspaper guy had his own agenda, and so we tried to ignore it at best we could.

"Looks like rain," he'd say occasionally. Sometimes we tried to make him go into the elevator, just to see how he'd manage with an open umbrella in a confined space. Underneath the mentally unstable facade though was a mind hard at work, and so he always managed to escape our clutches.

Another of newspaper guy's talents was to be able to tell us the scores of matches before we got them through. We don't know how, and we never really bothered to ask him; we just took it for granted that he was right.

"Yay!" he screamed suddenly, "We beat D2R 4-3!" We took whatever he said for true, and it wasn't long before the score came through officially. So there I was, calculating our chances of progression for the first time ever. With us beating D2R, and Sarzonia pretty much demolishing the other team, it seemed that a win over Gaian Ascendancy would put us through, pending any upsets (i.e. D2R beating Sarzonia, something which could happen all too easily - we still remembered when Maserrat were knocked out after the first round of matches whn TLC beat Bedistan).

So, it appeared that everything was on course for a top-two appearance, but I wasn't counting my chickens just yet - after all, who knew what could happen in the next couple of days...?

The Goal Scoring Event.
A Team HFF Never Heard of Ties Hiiraan To 7 Goals, Something That Could Be Described As Goal Scoring Fiasco.]

Hiiraan Players started Smoothly before the Fiasco begun, The now famous game is something Hiiraan never witnessed, the team however was cool and under control when we started 1 to 0 at about 10 mins into the game, the team we never heard came back and scored more goals, leaving us to a dust and about 3 to 1 game, but like many other times, Hiiraan came back scoring 4 goals in about 30 minutes, leaving the team we never heard of to a 3-4 lead, when the half whistle blew.

The team came back and now more than ever wanting to win when two players from both side started fighting, both got yellow and the game went on when the team we never heard came back with an amazing fight, they scored three consecutive goals while the Hiiraanians only managed to score two goals, making the game 5-6. The game went on in about the 8oth minute, The team we never heard scored a goal making the game 5-7, however on of Hiiraanian long running and fast players, Mustafa Muumin scored the goal to make the team one goal behind, however when the whistle was about to move again, the team added another goal, tying the game and making the team tie. This is the first time we see such a goal-scoring event. And we hope its the last, we loved the game and the game is now all over the news.

Heck, we hope every game can be like this, but we hope to win every game.

Oliverrian players wins at their first game in their international soccer history

"Today is a great day for Oliverry": That's what said the coach of the team. "We won 6-5 but we really dominated the game. If it wasn't for the goalie that let 5 goals in 6 shots on him, it would be easier to win. Eric Torinam scored 3 goals, so it helped win."

The 2 other teams Oliverry will play against is Fmjphoenix amd Druida, respectively ranked 7th and 15th in the cup. All the team is now hoping is to win some other games so they can be better prepared for the next pro world cup(3 players of the selection are elligible to participate in the next world cup since they will be 21 in 2 months)

Jeruselem Government News

It's Group F for funny in U21C11

Jeruselem have been drawn in Group F for the U21 Championships XI. Old friend Crystilakere joins us as well as a newcomer. Funny Looking Islands are in for their first U21. East Lithuania are the 11th seed with the Crystils as 12 seed.

The results? Well Jeruselem and Crystilakere both won 1-0 to start well but not spectularly. Jeruselem's new team need some more work to do about their attack but East Lithuania weren't all bad. The 11th seed had trouble with the defense minded 3rd seed (that's us) and a single goal settled the game.

The Crystils played some Funny Looking Islands with some Funny Looking players (:)).

Boring scores? Well, 1-0 is better than some of those usual goalfests than occur in the U21 championships. Good defense helps too. The real game is the Jeruselem vs Crystils rematch from the World Cup ilk. We look forward to this.

In other news, South Ossetia beat Dance 2 Revolution 4-3 (yes, it's not 3-4).

ZUCCHINIS UPSET!

The Young Zucchinis have been upset by Lovisa, who are unseeded. They opened scoring with a magnificant volley from outside the area early in the second half, but the Zucchinis equalised very soon after. The referee failed to notice Nery's apparent dive and gave the penalty, which Shekovshen duly converted. However, deep in stoppage time, Masuel allowed a bouncing ball to hit his arm and the penalty was given for handball. Lovisa converted, and the Zucchinis find themselves having an uphill task ahead.

Young Orange-Blues start victorious

The Young Orange-Blues found themself in a group with the abysmali coached Liverpool Englanders*, the big green Giant Zucchinis and Lovisa. Coach Myk Linkosa, who was rumored to be the last choice of Teke Daran, refused to comment on the group draw since 'these comments predictions tend to haunt you'.

The first match of the young Orange-Blues was against Liverpool England. The Englanders were not as bad as the rejistanian media expected them to be seeing that the Abysmali Sirx coaches them*. The Bright Orange-Blues were even more defensive than at the time of the Karelatux. The 5-4-1 System Jesejil was replaced by a 6-3-1 'System Linkosa'. The Englanders attacked fiercely, but the rejistani defense (or can we say: the rejistanian team) coped with it and had three chances (in the entire match) and could capitalize two of them. Sikenian Jiujia Makae scored his first international goals in counter attacks.

The result:
Rejistania 2 (Makae 38th 86th)
Liverpool England 0

Starblaydia Kick Things Off Correctly
FCN downed by Darius and Nelson

The young Montepool Waves winger Nelson de Montford, usually found rampaging down the opposite wing to Nick Matranga in the Beta Division, scored his first ever international goal in this match to ensure a Starblaydi victory. Darius Belizaire's eleventh goal saw Starblaydia take the lead in this match against the Five Civilized Nations, only for the lead to be doubled, and the win confirmed, by de Montford a few minutes later.

Starblaydia's Under-21s now have to face Regional Rivals Turori and relative-newcomers San Verdi. Thankfully, though, Turori have just recently been seen off in the Semi-Final of the 6th Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football by a tough Starblaydia side. Expect the Under-21s to try the same smashmouth approach to their football as they try to out-fox the bookies and lift their first Under-21 World Championship.

Junior Stars off to strong start with two wins

Fresh off a third place finish in the 10th Under 21 World Cup, the Sarzonian entry into the World Cup has looked every bit the part of a team that some expect to capture the Cup in its eighth try. The Junior Stars defeated Gaian Ascendancy 4-0 in the first match in Group C qualifying and all but cliched a berth in the knockout stages for the seventh time with a 1-0 win over regional rivals South Osettia.

"We've done well so far, but the key words here are 'so far,'" Coach Cal Trottier said. "We're supposed to do well against the teams in this draw, but the test will be if we can continue the momentum."

The Junior Stars have gotten four of their five goals from forward Dave Lord, with midfielder Pedro Almoades adding the only other score with a 79th minute penalty kick in the match against Gaian Ascendancy.

Goalkeeper Harvey Cooley was hardly tested in the first match, only making two saves on four shots. Against South Osettia, however, he starred. He made six saves as the 10th seeds piled on the pressure against a sturdy Junior Stars backline.

"We've had a full cup-plus in this new [defensive] system and we're really doing well with it," defensive midfielder Chris Dunham said. "We're starting to play instinctively rather than having to think about every little thing."

The Junior Stars wrap up the first round of World Cup 11 with a match against Dance 2 Revolution. They have never faced that team in a football match and the senior nationals will also face D2R for the first time.

"It's going to be interesting," Trottier said. "We'll have our football history established with those guys within short order."

When it was announced that Sarzonia were our second opponents, there was mixed emotions: some though it was good to get it out of the way, others thought it would put pressure on the team to beat Gaian Ascendancy when we lost to them. Me? I was too busy plotting Klein's downfall to be too worried. A defeat to Sarzonia was almost as certain as a win over GA, and as long as D2R didn't do anything stupid, such as beat Sarzonia, we'd be fine.

Everybody was in a reasonably good mood anyway, what with the SOLE bid for the Cup of Harmony being accepted, and the prospect of a HSC spot for SO coming up in recent conversation. These bits of information acted as a proverbial airbag whn the news filtered through to our receptor, newspaper guy:

"1-0 to the Junior Stars!" he shouted, whilst shaking the imaginary rain off of his umbrella. "Is it me, or are these April showers a little early?" The fact that it was January bared no significance, it seemed.

So, we had indeed lost to Sarzonia (only just, were the words on everybody's lips - it was a good sign for our future in this tournament). Now a win was needed over Gaian Ascendancy, and even that might not be enough should D2R beat Sarzonia (hardly likely, I realised). Was this the beginning of the end already? I didn't yet know, but I realised I'd find out within the next 24 hours.

Apprentices Mess Up Against Krakatou
Karela Really Not Working Well

Despite an excellent effort by lonely striker Pete Nourse, who has scored five of the Apprentices' nine goals so far in the World Cup, Adam Gilford's done just as poorly in goal as Nourse as striker. A last-minute equaliser from a Hiiranian striker sent them into a spot of bother in what was thought to be an easy group - Krakatou, the group's surprise side, now leads on goal difference, and the Street needs to beat them to be absolutely sure of qualifying. Still, the Street are expected to be somewhat better than the amateurs of Krakatou.

WARRIORS DRAWN INTO TOUGH GROUP (YET AGAIN)

The Praying2God Warriors U21 soccer team was drawn into their third straight tough group for qualifying for U21WC XI. They have the misfortune of being drawn into the same group as host TnUI (ranked 5th in the world) and Bedistan (ranked 16th). However, with the Warriors being ranked 9th, and the other team in the group being the unranked team from The Lowland Clans, the Warriors are cautiously optimistic that they will advance beyond the second round for the first time. It will not be easy, however, as upsets happen frequently in the U21WC. This is the Warriors third U21WC, and in both of their first two the Warriors were knocked out in the second round by one goal to the eventual runner-ups. Is this the Warriors turn to make a run to the finals? We will have to wait and see.

WARRIORS RISE OUT OF THE LOWLANDS WITH A WIN

The Warriors defeated The Lowland Clans in convincing fashion to begin their play in U21WC XI 3-0. The only other time the Warriors had won by multiple goals was their first match of U21WC X, when they upset Audioslavia 2-0. The Warriors currently sit on top of Group E, leading TnUI by one in goal differential. This win guarantees nothing however, as the two stronger opponents in the group still remain on the Warriors' schedule.

WARRIORS FAIL TO SUCCOMB TO TOTAL N UTTER INSANITY

Believe it Warriors fans! You're U21 team is for real. They upset the host country of TnUI today 2-1, and have firmly established themselves as the team to beat in Group E. However, the Warriors are not officially through to the second round yet, as Bedistan could knock them out with a five goal victory over the Warriors in their match, and if TnUI recovers to beat TLC. However, the odds of that combination are highly unlikely, so the Warriors are all but into the second round for the third U21WC in a row. Hopefully this time they will be able to make some noise by going deep into the tournament.

Pacitalia starts off inaugural U21 cup right

The Pacitalian national U-21 side started off its first World Cup on the right foot, with a decisive 4-1 win over soccer powerhouse Vilita and a nailbiting 3-3 draw with Wella. The team's high goal scoring is headed by the "Dynamic Duo" forwards, Andreos Charisteas and Massimo da Scupeta, each with 2 goals.

Pacitalia leads Group G with four points and a +3 goal differential heading into its next match with Kylaai.

"I'm proud of these guys," coach Marapazzo Santo Castorini said. "I have confidence in them, for sure, but I expected them to be a little overwhelmed by this great international competition being put forth by other nations. But they have not succumbed to that, and have performed admirably."

He joked by adding: "I would have liked two wins instead of a win and a draw but this is still better than I hoped for our first time in this event."

More to come in the World Cup - stick around.

Working under Coach Nigel Chapman, Siazzu was apart of arguably the best midfield lineup in the entire World, taking up a central role alongside Calaesa Mitaroka, with the phenominal Inaki Soler and the always reliable Tanner Nerni on either side. -------------------Likely coming from immigrant decent, Bruce Poole does not share a common name with many Vilitans. What he does share, however, is an interest and talent in the sport of Football. Despite his teams under-powered 10 man performance, Bruce Poole and Thierry Columbo showed that Vilitan's don't need forwards to get the job done. The midfielders dominated the play, along with fellow midfielder and goalscorer Manolis Makunike of Strike FC, and allowed Vilita to go into it's final game against Wella with a chance still to make the next round.

Bruce Poole is a brand new sighting, likely of Starblaydian roots, as suggested by the originally boring name. Poole was first scouted by Simeone Di Bradini at Kiiarana City and was quickly snapped up by the Vilitan Under 21's.

Turori Trashed Again
Young Guns blow Eels out of the water

Four goals to One signalled the latest Starblaydi thrashing of regional rivals Turori . A goal from Syku Lyku-Agbayani, a pair from Darius Belizaire and a goal from Zhorin Tumunzahar, who came on in the second half, sealed a big win for Starblaydia.

The tough Starblaydi defence is once more propelling them through the Group Stage with two wins from two so far. Gonzalez, Fuinbar, Caltabiano, Watt, Nimz and Rabalais are a six-man unit who's only job is to stop the other team. Once they've won the ball, it's up to the more forward-minded players to score. Though Starblaydia aren't conceeding many, its the lack of support up front that is leading to players like Belizaire and Lyku-Agbayani having to break the deadlock completely on their own with fantastic individual efforts.

Maybe if the defence was allowed to push up a bit, then Starblaydia could start smashing in the goals from all angles. Only then can Starblaydia think about taking their first Under-21 Title.

Fun for all the family especially Crusaders and Crystils

Jeruselem and Crystilakere cruised into the next round from Group F with easy, winning their second qualifying games. Jeruselem ran into some Funny Looking Islands, but in the end it was Jeruselem who was doing all the laughing with a solid 2-0 win. Goals to Auch Witz and WJ Clinton sealed the game for the Crusaders, while them Islanders are having a goal drought so far.

Crystilakere (12th seed) met East Lithuania (11th seed) in a critical game. The Crystils had a win and East Lithuania need to win. The junior Crystils showed their World Cup form and won 2-1 to progress to the next round joining Jeruselem who they play next.

Group F is Finalised. It's a fight who is #1 in Group F while the others have to play for honour.

Funny Looking Islands Set to take things very seriously

The Colony of Funny Looking islands are set to see major changes in the team due to their poor display in their first two group games against Jeruselem and Crystilakere. Although already eliminated from the competition, head Coach John Burgandy still believes their is a lot of pride at stake in the next match against East Lituania who also lost both their games. Burgandy expects the games to be a heated affair with the Funny Looking Islands set to play two men up front to try and get their first goal in the competition. Burgandy also said earlier at training that "since we are the only un-seeded team in the group it would still be an achievement to finish third.

San Verdi Given the heave-ho
D.J. runs the Four-Nil Show-Stopping Performance

A brace of goals from Gbenga D.J. Ogunniya killed of San Verdi's hopes against Third-Seeded Starblaydia in the final game of Group B. Ryan Kovac and Zhorin Tumunzahar also got on the scoresheet as Starblaydia fielded a slightly weakened Under-21 side, resting their best players for the knockout stages of the Second Round, and hopefully, on.

Even with Belizaire, Lyku-Agbayani, Rabalais, Watt and Fuinbar on the bench, Starblaydia were comfortably in control throughout the match. Substitute goalie Elwood Deangelo was barely troubled throughout the ninety minutes, such was Starblaydia's domination.

The Second Round now holds Liverpool England for in Starblaydia's way, the first ever Under-21 match-up between the two nations. Starblaydia have only ever faced the Englanders twice, those matches coming some eight years ago in the World Cup 18 Qualifiers. Starblaydia, for the record, lost 2-1 and drew 2-2 with Ahmed Ol-wairain, Ceri Salisbury and J.J. Stark scoring the three Starblaydi goals over those matches.

One who expect that Starblaydia's experience in this kind of situation can see them through to the Quarter-Finals.

Hiiraan's Young Ocean Blue Stars Humiliates the Belomores
Young Stars Prepare to meet Dancing Buddies.

The Young Blue Ocean stars have not only beaten the belmores but simply humiliated the team, sweeping the game with a ten-4 victory, the game relatively easy for the team started its scoring minutes early in the second hour, when the young players by the name of Mustafa Muslim Scored not only one, not two, not three, not four, but five goals in period that started from early first period to the last minutes of the game when his friend Salim Khallid Finished them Game with the tenth goal. An amazing game to watch with over 88 million tuning it in from the radio, and TV. One of the highest rated games in Hiiraan up to date.

With that win Hiiraan moves to the Quarter Finals with a dancing contest against the dance revolutionaries, We hope we will win but as many know, hope can not bring you anywhere, we need to add what we did in the game against the belmores and twist it against the dancing people of D2R.

We will play hard, consistent and marvelously incredible, because there is no way to beat such a team as D2R without showing them force and beating them well.

Tango leaves Junior Stars tied up but they move on

Another Under 21 World Cup, another berth in the knockout stages for the Sarzonian junior national team. The Junior Stars clinched their seventh berth in eight tries following a scoreless draw against Dance 2 Revolution in the first meeting between the two countries in football of any kind.

Goalkeeper Harvey Cooley continued an impressive streak in which he has only conceded two goals in 10 matches by making four saves and denying Dance 2 Revolution on two point-blank bids including a fingertip stop of a rebound.

"Cooley was cool, like a cucumber," Coach Cal Trottier said. Trottier could be forgiven for the lame pun because Cooley was brilliant in net. Even Dance 2 Revolution's top scoring forwards saluted Cooley after the match.

The team will face unseeded Krakatou, who finished second in Group A, behind Hiiraan on goal difference. Krakatou scored 16 goals in three matches, including a 3-3 draw against Cockbill Street. The Junior Stars say they're preparing for an "offensive onslaught" and hope their defense can hold up.

"That's the best offense we've seen in the Cup," Cooley said. "We're going to have our hands full with them." Krakatou also conceded 14 goals, an average of nearly five per game. The Stars have only scored five goals but haven't given up a single goal. The only other team in the Cup who allowed no goals is Rejistania, the team that defeated the Junior Stars in last year's semifinals.

"Figures the System Karela bastards are the other team to have that kind of defense," Trottier joked. "Hopefully we'll make their System Karela into System Abysmali when this cup's done."

Squires head into next round undefeated

Jeruselem met Crystilakere in the last game of the U21 XI qualifiers and came home winners 1-0. Jeruselem kept their clean sheet and one goal was enough to beat away the Crystils who finished 2nd in Group F.

Funny Looking Islands piled on the misery as it beat 11th seed East Lithuania 3-1 to finish in style. East Lithuania need to regroup after losing all it's games. Group F ended up as expected by the lack of goals highlighted the defensive nature of it's teams. The only big win was ironically the Islands 3-1 win.

The Young Zucchinis have crashed out after a dismal performance at the Under-21 World Cup. After losing out 1-0 to possibly the best defence in the competition, Coach Nebitez had few words to say. Funny Looking Islands Salvage Some Pride

The Funny Looking Islands gained some pride by finishing third in group F due to a 3-1 win over 11th seed East Lituania. The Funny Looking Islands scored first when Malts was brought down in the box and Andy Smith buried the penalty into the bottom right corner.East Lituania then equalised due to a misunderstanding between Curren and O'Malley which led to a superb single effort from the Eat Lituania hitman in the 37th minute.
The game stayed like this until the 79th minute when Curren headed the ball in from a Randelson corner.Malts wraped up the game in the 85th minute when he lobbed the kepper from 20 yards out after a poor kick out which landed at his feet.
Head Coach John Burgandy was delighted with the teams display as it won the team some respect on the international circuit. Burgandy stated that "in my view, group F was the group of death, for us to finish third in a group with a 4th,11th and 12th seed is quite an achievement, as for todays game, I am very proud of the boys. East Lituania are a top class football team, we showed we could play today and thats all I can ask of the team".

BORIS MAKES MONKEYS OUT OF DEFENCES
SPECTRUMS FINISH GROUP 100%, HIGHEST SCORERS

The Druida spectrums, under the watchful eye of their new manager Boris the Monkey, have seen off all comers in the opening group stage of the Under-21 World Cup. And they've done it in style, too!

Druida have scored a whopping 22 goals so far, two more than their nearest rivals Hiiraan. Five goals against Fmjphoenix were followed up by seven against Krytenia and a whopping 10 against Oliverry. OK, so 14 conceded doesn't read too well, but then our manager is a monkey, what do you expect?

Next up for the spectrums are Crystilakere. If the Druidan attack keeps this up, a run through to the semi-finals could well be on! However, if the Druidan defence keep things up, we'll all be on the first plane back to Cefn-Mawr International.

Pacitalia destroys last round-robin opponent, makes it through

The Pacitalian U-21 national side made it through the round-robin stage unscathed, taking its last game against Kylaai in a 7-2 blowout. Sports betting agencies predicted the game to be even but Pacitalia pulled away in the 39th and 44th minutes after a 1-1 tie took up most of the first half, with superb goals from the Dynamic Duo, Andreos Charisteas and Massimo da Scupeta.

The second half was even better with the midfield chipping in another two, Pacitalia pulling forward 5-1. Kylaai made it tense for a while when they pulled through with another blooper goal, 5-2, but Charisteas and midfielder-substitute Dario Pasquale chipped in to put the game away.

Pacitalia wins Group G with a 2-1-0 (7pts) record. The national side finished 1 point ahead of sixth-seeded Vilita (2-0-1, 6pts).

Pacitalia will play ninth-seeded Praying2God in the second-round opener.

Junior Vikings prepare for tough match with Jeruselem

The Fmjphoenix Junior Vikings have once again qualified for the second round of the U21 tournament by earning 6 points in defeating Krytenia and Ollivary, but took a tough loss to the group leader Druida. The Junior Vikings scored the third most goals in the three matches, totalling 17 total goals, 3 behinf Hiiran and 5 behind Druida.

Fmjphoenix's U21 squad has yet to reach the same level that saw them reach the finals in U21WC8 in a close loss to the hosts, Total n Utter Insanity 4-3. It is up to this young team now being lead by the son of Fmjphoenix's Vice-President Arien Vogel. This is a much younger overall team than it used to be, as most players are not even 20. But they are a good group all together and still show heart and desire for victory.

Now the Junior Vikings find themselves pitted against Jeruselem, the team that took the Junior Vikings out of the quarter-finals in the previous cup. This time the team is hoping to turn that around and be the ones to send Jeruselem home early.

Lovely scores

The Orange-Blues defeated the slavic menace from Lovisa by a 2:0. The Orange-Blues again played highly defensively and showed why Myk Linkosa was sacked from the national team. The insanican stadium was completely sold out for this not really important group stage match, not only because of the numerous rejistanis, but surprisingly because a large group of Streetian humans, dwarves and trolls wanted to see 'good defensive sekhika'. A fan said: "Since Kansu Lyku, I am a real fan of 5-5-0 tactics, I mean: it is great if the opponent has no single chance!" When he was asked about the Apprentices, he found clear words: "Lehiju'ny" ('conceders', a rejistanian expletive for a team, using attacking tactics). The fact that nearly no lovisians were in the stadium however was expected since most of them do not speak english well enough to find to the stadium.

The Orange-Blues left their half only a few times in the first half, but had no real chances. It was expected that the half ends scoreless, but a backpass of lovisian defender Slobodan Grigorvski, a strong gust of wind and the slow reaction of goalie Fjodor Czencisky caused the Orange-Blues to take the lead. The second half saw a few attacks of the Orange-Blues, maybe to prove that they do not rely on the wind to win matches. Nikasaka Jah was able to score 3 minutes after being substituted in for Makae'he. A defensive mistake of Slobodan Grigorvski (again) and Jan Iljicz Ryshyskivilisky allowed it him to get into good position and to outsmart Czencisky'he. The Orange-Blues won the match 2:0 and will face Giant Zucchini in their next match.

Orange-Blues eliminate Giant Zucchini

The Orange-Blues defeated the big green vegetables 1:0. The resurrected Zucchinis finished due to this last in group D and are eliminated. Many rejistanians were confused that Giant Zucchini has a youth team at all. They thought since Zucchinis do not age in the way humans do, the point in having a youth team is rather moot. Fortunately, the Zucchinis are no Evisceratetomatoes, so there was no fear of splattering players.

The match was an excellent example of skill, mostly defensive skill. Again many Streeters watched the match to enjoy the 5-5-0 tactic of Myk Linkosa's team. The Zucchinis tried to break through the defence with a System Imdila and had a few chances. Fortunately, goalie Tederi Venuta did react adequatly then and saved the Young Orange-Blues the clean sheet. In the 31st minute, Nery (or Nery'he, seeing that otherwise there is no polite way to address a Gaint Zucchini) lost the ball to Vikax Xeki~l. The Orange-Blues started an attack and Esh (or Esh'he) was unable to reach the shot of Xkeliko Sil. The Orange-Blues were leading 1:0. The rest of the match saw the Orange-Blues defending their lead. Rejistani fans heard the gloating about their System Karela from Trotter'he from Sarzonia and whenever the rejistani defense blocked a zucchini attack, they chanted ''Jida Trotter, reja rala'va!' (Yey Trotter'he, that's the way things are done). The next opponent of the Young Orange-Blues will be the Eels from Turori.

East Lithuania In Big Mess!

Another horror from U21WCX was the finishing w/ a 0-0-3 record. The Sharks go home disappointed & humiliated yet again. Plus more bad news. This year was lucky, since all players were 19 and under in U21WCX. This year again they kept the same roster. However, unfortionatly... Starters Sean Esteeve and Adam Esposito will be 21 during the break before U21WC22. So this leaves the East Lithuania roster with 2 open spots: one Attacking mid-feilder, and one Forward. Hopefully, the Shark can find spirits in there reserves, while they look for the 2 open spots.

STORMS DELAY U21WC

Rumor has it that there are storms in TnUI that are delaying U21WC XI. We'll bring you more details as we get them.

U21WC XI ELIMINATION ROUNDS PREVIEW

Under 21 World Cup 11

This is certainly going to be a contrast of halves of the section of the bracket that the Warriors. Let's look at the teams in the Warriors' half of the bracket.

Total and Utter Insanity (5): They caught a "break" when the Warriors were upset by Bedistan on the last day, allowing TnUI to win the group, but looking at the draw the Warriors got, they may have prefered to be in the Warriors' shoes. They are a side on the way down after a long successful run at the top of the U21 ranks, but don't count out the hosts.

Vilita (6): A widely recognized name in international soccer, but their U21 team is largely unknown. A second round match with TnUI can go a long way towards making them a recognizeable name at the U21 level.

Jerusalem (3): A power at the U21 level, but they're probably not happy to see the Warriors on the same half of the bracket after what happened to the Jerusalem national team when they played the Warriors twice in WC XX qualifying, and earned one point in two matches. However, they do have two U21WC Championships on their trophy shelf, and will be tough to beat.

Fmjphoenix (7): Ouch! Normally being ranked 7th in the world would be a good thing, but not in this sub-section of the bracket, where they are the lowest ranked team. Hopefully things will work out better for them in the next U21WC.

Pacitalia: Who? Is there actually a country with this name?

Praying2God (9): The Warriors caught a break by being upset by Bedistan, because they are the highest ranked side in their sub-section of the bracket. Anything short of a semifinals appearance would be a disappointment.

Druida (15): This is the side that presents the most trouble for the Warriors, because of their ability to score in bunches. However, they also have defensive liabilities that the Warriors could exploit. A match between us and them would be interesting because of the contrasting styles of play.

Crystilakere (12): Not exactly somebody that the Warriors wanted to see in their sub-section, but this is U21, not the national teams. Crystilakere owned the Warriors in their meetings during WC XX qualifying, but this is a whole different game.

Vilitans Question P2G Stance

The Vilitan FA have issued a press release bad mouthing the Praying2God Football Association after harsh words expressed in their latest article.

Vilita (6): A widely recognized name in international soccer, but their U21 team is largely unknown. A second round match with TnUI can go a long way towards making them a recognizeable name at the U21 level.

How can they say we are "Largely Unknown." Baron O'Toole asked. "What the hell are they on about? We won the damn Cup the Under 21 World Cup 7. And we were damn runners up in Under 21 three. So what, we don't have but one forward. That's the way things go sometimes, sometimes we have a lot of good young forwards, sometimes we have a bunch of good young midfielders. Last cup we had a bunch of good young 'keepers. What the hell, we had 5 keepers on the bench and 2 forwards. Not a big deal. So we are underachievers. But hell, when we make it passed the Second Round, we tend to win the damn thing. We just have a hard time getting passed the second round for some reason. Damn Praying2God'ians.

Newspaper Editor (to a reporter): Have you seen this?

Reporter: Yeah.

Editor: How did they get reported as a largely unknown side at the U21 age level?

Reporter: Because we didn't have information of what went on during the first eight U21WCs. That release was a good lesson for our people.

Editor: What are you going to do about the preview you wrote?

Reporter: Not a lot that I can do at this point...besides print a correction.

Editor: Get on it, then!!!

CORRECTION ON U21WC XI ELIMINATION ROUNDS PREVIEW

Vilita (6): Another side on the way down, which has had problems getting out of the second round recently, just like the Warriors. However, Vilita does have a couple of deep runs on their U21 resume, and is a team to keep an eye on.

Vilitans Tell P2G It's Okay

Vilita's Press National Corporation has released the following announcement:

In light of the recent correction by the Praying2God media we would like to make the following statement. We respect the Praying2God media for their efforts in fairness and all that crap. But the Vilitan Under-21 side is junk. We have been one of the leading financial supporters of the program since it's inception in Under 21 World Cup II. Sure, they got us to up our funding in U21 WC III by beating all the top teams in the world while being unranked. And sure, after 3 cups of dissapointment, they came back and won Under 21 World Cup 7, just as we were considering lowering our financial backing, and of course this success encouraged us to increase our financial backing, not diminish it. But since then, what have they done? Fielded a team with just one forward. Not made it past the second round. And they've don'e no differently this cup either, They lost on penalties to the hosts, Total n Utter Insanity. The one team they could always count on beating.

If Baron O' Toole is not replaced as Under-21 Manager, The Vilitan FA will have to search for a new secondary backer.

Pacitalians shocked, but amused by P2G comments

News out of Pacitalia's opponent, Praying2God shows that the nation has no regard for Pacitalia and does not seem to consider the Pacitalian U-21 side a veritable challenge to get to the quarter finals.

"All I can say is how amused I am by these comments," Coach Santo Castorini said, chuckling. "Well, let's see - we did better than them in the round robin by a point, AND we're seeded higher for the next cup, and on our first try... who indeed, who indeed."

Pacitalia is expected to put up a very good fight against the ninth-seeded Warriors, who went 2-0-1 in the round robin phase. Sports betting agencies in Pacitalia put our home side as the favourite to win, by a score of 3-2.

We'll see how it goes. I'm James DaMarco for PSN.

WARRIORS TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

The Warriors easily defeated relatively-unknown Pacitalia 1-0 in their second round match of U21WC XI. The Warriors thoroughly outplayed their opponents on both ends of the field and dominated the time of possession. Only their inability to get their shots on net kept the match close, as they missed the net on 13 of their 15 shot attempts. However, one of the shots that did find it's target was in the 38th minute, and it slipped past the Pacitalian keeper for the only goal of the match. Pacitalia was unable to mount any sort of serious offensive threat against the Warriors stout defense throughout the remainder of the match. This marks the first time that the Warriors have advanced past the second round, and they will now play either Druida or Crystilakere in the quarterfinals.

Pacitalia knocked out

The Pacitalian U-21 side was held scoreless in its first second-round match in international history, losing out to ninth-seeded Praying2God narrowly, 1-0. The Dynamic Duo was held to only two shots on net through the entire game as the Pacitalian team was managed well by the solid defence of the Warriors.

"I'm still pleased with the result," Coach Santo Castorini said after the game. "Obviously, we would have wanted to go further in this tournament, but losing by only one goal in our first match of second-round competition in international history is pretty damn satisfying for all of us. We'll be sure to work hard in the next cup and try and go further, but for now, we'll look at the success of the round-robin and build from there."

Pacitalia exits the tournament with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss overall, 7 points, and 14 goals scored, allowing nine in return. They were the best non-seeded team at the Cup in the round-robin phase and are seeded 11th for the next cup which will occur very soon.

MONKEY SACKED!
ORGAN GRINDER GETS JOB

Druida's so-far impressive run in the latest Under-21 World Cup was brought crashing down to earth by Crystilakere 5-4. The result for the spectrums' manager Boris the Monkey is that he will be sacked immediately by President Smith, who has the power to hire and fire the Druida under-21 manager as and when he likes.

In place of Boris the Monkey will come Ron, an organ grinder from Llllllllllcwllllllll. Of course, organ grinders aren't really common place in much of the world anymore. But then, Llllllllllcwllllllll isn't really much of the World. Simon Greaves will stay in his mystery overseeing position.

The third day, and it was going to be the final day of our campaign. Nobody knew it, but an enemy that had been sleeping was about to wake.

The day started with the normal banter - people were busying themselves with coffee, chatting about last night's activities and generally trying to do as little work as possible. Just then, newspaper guy, who had up until then been sitting in the corner caressing his umbrella as if it were some kind of domesticated animal, stood up.

"4-3 to GA. A 0-0 draw between D2R and Sarzonia knocks SO down to third. Eight tournaments, only one top-two finish in the group stage. Somebody hates us...is it me, or is it raining?"

A cacophony of boos filled the room, and a number of overpatriotic people dived out of the windows to their deaths below. I however, had guessed from the start that we wouldn't make it through - history always repeated itself after all. The defeat now meant that I had to bring my plans for Klein forward to today, and I took the rest of the day to prepare myself mentally for what I was about to do.

It was 1800 GMT by the time everybody had left - that is, everybody except for Klein (in his office) and I (in the department centre). I felt around in my pocket for my little friend, and stroked it. Tonight was going to be fun. I got up and walked the nine yards to Klein's office door. Three sharp taps on the door were followed by a grunt, meaning 'Come in, you overworked bastard' - I was good at translating Klein's grunts. I opened the door and took a step into the office. Klein looked up from his desk, covered with papers (none of which were relevant to the job, of course).

"What do you want?"

"I got a call."

"A call? When?"

"Two years ago."

"Two years ago! Why the hell are you telling me now, then! Christ...was it important?"

"Very."

"Jeez, what the hell's wrong with you?" I closed the door behind me.

"I think the more appropriate question it 'what the hell's wrong with you?'."

"What the hell?"

"You remember Frejd Polkiska, don't you?"

"Yeah - he used to work here didn't he?"

"That's right. He was my father."

"So? What's this got to do with anything?"

"He's dead. He's dead, and you killed him." I let the bombshell hit him, and let him speak the next words.

"Look man, I don't know where you get your information, but it's wrong. I never killed nobody." I produced the photo from my pocket.

"This photo says otherwise." I let him peruse the photo, and waited for the begging to start.

"We can talk this over, can't we?"

"Why?"

"Sorry?"

"Why did you kill him?"

"He...he knew too much."

"About what?"

"My drug problem. Do you know about it?"

"I know everything about you. I know you divorced your wife over a dog, I know you illegally smuggle drugs into the country, and I know that you killed my father because of it. Now it's time for you to pay for your mistakes." Without letting him speak I pulled the gun from my pocket. I aimed it straight at the center of hs head, and as he sat, cowering there in front of me, I smiled. Then I pulled the trigger.

The Fmjphoenix rises

Jeruselem hate extra time and lost another one in extra time again!. The opponent was Fmjphoenix (7th seed) and they lost the last time the teams clashed. Fmjphoenix got their revenge with the scores tied at 1-1 ALL in a very close match. Unfortunately the Jeruselem extra time curse kicked in again, losing 4-3 like another infamous loss in the U-21 championship but that was in the finals.

With Jeruselem failing to make the finals for the 3rd time, it's upto Fmjphoenix to continue their form. The fickle nature of the finals means anyone can beat anyone else.

Coach James Stuart was puzzled "We always have trouble with extra time or penalties. I think it's match fitness or just we're allergic to playing more than 90 mins of football."

Sirx brings Abysmali Values to Liverpool England
'Ralphy-baby' surely destined for the sack

After leading his team to a Win, a Draw and a Loss in the Group Stage with a positive goal difference, former Abysmalitan passport-holder Ralph Sirx led his team to a Not-Win in the Second Round of the 11th Under-21 World Championship, a result that will surely drop the Englanders out of the top-twenty in the Under-21 rankings.

The Abysmali way of playing wasn't confined to just Liverpool England, however, as strikers at both ends of the pitch failed to put the football anywhere near the goal. A new Starblaydi record was set today for 'percentage of shots off target', as only two of Starblaydia's shots required the Liverpool England 'keeper to prevent the ball from going in the net.

This awful shooting streak continued all the way through Extra Time as the scoreboard steafastly refused to show anything other than 0-0. So, it came down to penalties. Yes, I know what you're thinking. Starblaydi Under-21s in a penalty shootout, we might as well book the plane tickets now.

BUT! Hold everything!

Starblaydia scored every one (yes, every one!) of their five penalties. That's incredible! Starblaydia win a penalty shoot-out, 5-4, and head to the Quarter Finals yet again, though its for the first time since U21WC8. Starblaydia's next match-up in the Last-Eight will be either those crazy Hiiraan boys, or the less-crazy Dance 2 Revolutionaries. Let's see if we can hold them off and bring home the win.

Electric eels shocked by Young Orange-Blues

The Young Orange-Blues defeated the electric eels of Turori in extra time. Again the Orange-Blues played in the highly defensive style, they are notorious for by their opponents and famous for by Rejistanian and the few Streetian fans. It was rumored that the Streetian government sees liking System Karela as a form of treason. The Streeters play an insanely offensively non-tactic in the U21.

Most of the time, the Young Orange-Blues did not leave their half. The match saw the electric eels attack fiercely and the Rejistanians defend every single attack under frenetic cheers of the fans. The best chance they had was in the 32nd minute in a counter attack, but the shot of Jiujia Makae went wide. The next big chance for the Orange-Blues was in the 100th minute (which maybe best illustrates the defensive character of this match) Again Jiujia Makae was in good position, and this time, the ball went past the turorian goalie and into the net. The Orange-Blues advanced into the quarterfinals.

The result after Extra time:

Junior Stars give up goal but not game

For the first time since the semifinals of the 10th Under 21 World Cup, Sarzonian goalkeeper Harvey Cooley gave up a goal. Fortunately for the Junior Stars, they scored twice, leading to a 2-1 win over Krakatou in the second round of the 11th World Cup.

"We just know how to play our brand of football now," Coach Cal Trottier said. "We've had two cups to be comfortable with this system and we're doing well."

The Junior Stars jumped out on top as they did in each of the two group stage wins. Defender Ettore Salivani won a ball in the Sarzonian third of the pitch and sent a sharp pass to midfielder Pedro Almoades. Almoades then put a brilliant move on the defense and fired a cross into the box where forward Dave Lord skied for a header that left the Krakatou goalkeeper no chance. The 23rd minute goal immediately put the pressure on the underdogs from Krakatou.

"We talked all during pregame about getting off to a good start against these guys," their coach said after the match. "We had to score first and when we didn't, you saw what happened."

The Junior Stars made it 2-0 just before the first half ended when Trottier sent Louise Hamm in to substitute for Lord in the 39th minute after he suffered what doctors called a twisted right ankle. She won a ball in midfield and worked a wall pass with forward Roy Spencer to perfection, scoring the goal with a bending shot that eluded the goalkeeper and a desperate handball attempt from the Krakatou defender.

The Stars didn't allow a goal until the 88th minute when reserve defender Josh Cefcen pulled down the Krakatou forward in the box, leading to a goal from the team's playmaking midfielder and a red card on Cefcen. The team will be without his services in the quarterfinals.

"That was just a dumb play," Cefcen said. "I shouldn't have done that."

The Junior Stars face the Young Orange Blues from Rejistania and even before the second round match against Krakatou, Trottier was already talking trash about the world's top ranked team, calling their famous defensive system "system abysmali."

"Now it's time for war," Trottier said, forgetting the real war Sarzonia is currently fighting.

Junior Vikings earn revenge with extra shots, move past Jeruselem

Arien Vogel, son of the Vice-President of Fmjphoenix, is showing that he is able to play football. He connected on his penelty shot and also scored Fmjphoenix's lone goal in normal play to keep the Junior Vikings alive with a 4-3 victory.

Jeruselem went up first with a strike at 34 minutes in the first half and kept it very close for the rest of the match. Neither team could get much going as both teams played keep away until the 83rd minute when Vogel recieved a pass from Trowa Notarb and powered it past the Jeruselem goalkeeper to put it at 1 all. Time expired, but the match could not be left at a draw, and in the extra shots, Viera Primo connected, as well as Bruce Chen and Vogel.

With the victory, the Junior Vikings have regained focus and feel prepared for the next opponent, whether it be fellow AO nation Vilita, or the hosts Total n Utter Insanity, the team who stopped the Junior Vikings short of winning their first cup in U21WC8.

Jiateo skimmed it: "Turori has a severe lack of talent, so what?"

"Well, even taken into account that you are Turorian?"

"Half-Turorian, I don't even know the language fluently..."

"Do I have to throw you on the point?"

"Yes..."

Likex makes a move as if he wants to grab Jiateo. "You are still eligible to play in the U21!"

"Su? I am not even a regular starter here."

"So what? SLS R is SLS R, even if it is SLS R2! Just apply there! What you can lose?"

Apprentices Out On Goal Difference
Under-21 Nightmare Continues

You would think twelve goals, one win and two draws would be enough to qualify from a four-team group, right? Not so. After three games of the Under-21 World Cup in Total n Utter Insanity, the Apprentices bowed out yet again - to Hiiraan and Krakatou, no less. Heard of them? Doubt you would. Anyway, the rumour on the Street and in the Insanician lands are pretty simple - after the Hiiranians understood that Cockbill Street had only managed a 3-3 draw with Krakatou, they knew they would qualify with a three-goal victory. A quick phone call to Alan Belmore, offering about 60 % of the Hiiranian national budget so that the Belmorons could continue their shopping spree with Alan City and Hiiraan could succeed in sports. The Belmoron keeper conceded ten goals from eleven shots in the match, Hiiraan won 10-4, conceding four goals at the end of the match for good measure, and the Streetians were knocked out on goals scored.

Still, there is no excuse for tying Krakatou 3-3, and the question is whether the Karela-era in the Street is coming to an end. With 10 conceded goals in under-21, four from one match in the World Cup finals, and the same awful results cropping up again despite the "revolution", one must wonder whether it is time to overturn the popular vote and once again try the tried and tested method - fun with football without bothering so much about the result.

Hiiraan Goes against Starblaydia
Show Recovery for HUSK

Hiiraan beat the D2R, D2R, which left the field with 4 goals were impressive, but not as impressive as Hiiraan boys which scored 5 goals, leaving the Dancers hanging with a one goal to tie the match, Hiiraan now goals to the Showdown game, where we either make it leave it, hopefully the latter will happen, but we are sure that Hiiraan will be prepared against the game with Starblydia, a team we have not yet met here in the U21. Hopefully this meeting will bring out the true champions in Hiiraan.

At the exclusive camp delta, a camp reserved only for the main team, the U21s were training as hard as the body could to make the stars pay for the match with a lose. Which will throw star off competition and can hopefully secure Hiiraan two more Rounds.

The Hiiraanian Sports Channel HUSK, Their daily show SC (Sports Center) was almost a signature away from being cancelled, as some rumored the channel was and the show were losing more audience than they were gaining.
The show for now is intact, hopefully it will be so in the future, but there is a big chance the show will be out in the next few months.

Hiiraanian Government Denies Everything
Come On, How On Earth Do You Win 10-4?

Our reporter in Hiiraan says that the government denies all connections with the bribery scandal now unfolding in Total n Utter Insanity. Well, you would, wouldn't you. It's hardly something you admit to, is it. Look at the evidence - a referee suddenly retiring to Psytroxia with a nice profit, shots from Belmorons going well wide of the target despite being clean through on goal, the Belmoron keeper being completely abysmal, Alan City buying three players for AM$200,000,000 in the past week - it all adds up. Never mind that these things happen every week - this time we've got something to connect it to! And besides, we have evidence from a Hiiranian, Asif Iqivashit, who has bravely jumped off from the government. Okay, so he's responsible for about six murders and is currently seeking asylum in Total n Utter Insanity (his reasoning being that he's not much worse than the regular citizens), but that is not to say that he can't give valid testimony. He said that under the influence of Progressive Hash, he had seen Alan Belmore been given tons of money by someone in a turban. This is surely incriminating evidence!

Dynamic Duo Shock the World
Yeaddin Owls SuperStars Walk out in Ugly Backroom War of Words
http://www.dirt-racing.com/3wide/sites/aofiles/rp/bar.gif

-------------------The Tropics of Vilita's most profilic midfield duo since Nigel Chapman and Santo Kecker worked together in World Cup 13 have shocked the world after walking out on Yeaddin Owls AFC. The duo were an important part of the Owls 7th Consecutive Stellar Division championship that preceded them winning the Internationstatal Club Championships in their first attempt. The owls earned worldwide respect as a result, but it all came crumbling down in Vilitan Season 12. The Owls started off well, but disarray in the team saw them slowly slip down the table and crash out of the Vilitan Cup. Antonis Siazzu's record 20 goals in season 12 dropped to just 5 in season 13, and Soler's contribution of 18 in season 11 was downed to just 8. Both players featured just 26 times for the Owls, down from almost 40 the season before, the full allocation of matches for a Vilitan Club. Siazzu was a home grown Owls talent, but Soler recently had moved from Strike FC for a Vilitan record transfer. The two cited conflicts with management as reasons for leaving the owls, who finished an all time worst of 6th in the Stellar Division. Some media pundits have reported that the real reason for the duo's departure was a dissaproval of goalkeeper Delain Falcon. The 23 year old Vilitan had been considered a potential backup for Jimmy Kater on the Vilitan National Team, however a conflict with the teams two star midfielders would likely hurt Falcons chances and could explain his absence from the bench in the World Cup 20 Finals. Falcon gained favor at the Owls over long-time keeper Bryan 'Pop' Duiker after signing from Tivali City. Owls head coach Kenter Surf, also Falcon's uncle, was too quick to drop the aging Duiker for the inexperienced Falcon. Many fans had called for Duiker to regain his position, but when it became clear that Surf had made his choice, Duiker handed in a formal transfer request, with Strike FC jumping quickly to steal him, and the Stellar Division title from the Owls.

-------------------Siazzu and Soler terminated their contracts with the Owls immediately and walked out of the club. Media reports had linked the two with Tivali City FC after they had been seen with their agent at the Alikki-Corra international airport. Alikki-Corra is the capital of Vilita, but the nearest Stellar Division club to the capital is Tivali City, which plays on the outskirts of the Tivali Jungle that borders the nations capital. However, the dynamics shocked the world with their announcement, which came this morning at the press conference before the match against AOSINOINAOIN. It was not Tivaliy City who they had signed for, but Alikki-Corra FC. Alikki-Corra FC is the forgotten of the original Vilitan Stellar Division clubs. Originally billed as the team with the brightest future, Alikki-Corra sold off all their talent and dropped out of the league. However, they recently regained league status and are currently in the Vilitan Declasse Division. Immediately the questions were asked as to why the duo would relegate themselves to playing in the Declasse with a washed up club. However, they said that, while they had received a generous offer from Strike FC, they had not been guaranteed all the incentives they were looking for in a new club. Alikki-Corra offered a plan for the future and, to Soler, an opt-out clause at any time. 20 Year Old Antonis Siazzu was quick to sign a 3-Season contract with Alikki-Corra. Soler, at 23, agreed in principal to a deal, however a clause in his contract allows him to leave with no fee due to Alikki-Corra if he chooses to return to the Stellar Division. Alikki-Corra chairman Kris Snowmount, also at the meeting, also presented 18 Year Old defensive midfielder Daniel Oram and 17 year old Turorian Goalkeeper Ebbow Dakin, both agreeing to their first Professional Contracts with the club, and both expected to be future stars for their nation like many of the original Alikki-Corra youths.

--------------Antonis Siazzu had not made any indifferences to playing with Falcon in Under 21 World Cup 10, So it is believed that any conflict arose after this competition, or was linked mainly to Soler, with good friend Siazzu sticking by his colleague and semi-mentor.

Hiiraanians Shut Down
'Slani' leads Smash and Grab Raid

Starblaydia Under-21s put themselves through to the Semi-Final of the Under-21 World Cup after a magnificent defensive display that left the Karelaphiles in the crowd nearly in tears with admiration.

"That's the greatest 5-5-0 I've ever seen," said one

"It was just like watching Rejistania, only in white and purple," said another.

An incredible display from the back-line completely closed off all lines of the Hiiraanian attack as Starblaydia settled down and took control of the ball. It was a first-half goal from Syku Lyku-Agbayani, so recently celebrating a contract to Articala Inlet, that gave Starblaydia the win, a finely-stuck shot from inside the box as Starblaydia hit on a swift counter-attack.

Now comes a Semi-Final, and history us tells that Starblaydia will lose the Semi, then go on to take Third Place in the Play-off, as this has happened in Under-21 World Cup Five and Seven. On the other hand, will it be third time lucky for Starblaydia?

OOC: You want rivalry, you get it!

IC:
System Karela defeated System Abysmalistan

The Young Orange-Blues defeated the Sarzonics with a 1:0 scoreline. The big mouths of Sarzonia gloated about the hyperdefensive System Karela before the match but when they experienced it, they went silent pretty fast. Myk Linkosa commented after the match: "Some people get what they deserve for bragging. Here in Rejistania every opponent is taken seriously. Especially in after group stage!"

The defense stood strong for the entire match. Most of the time, the Bright Orange-Blues even remained in their half. The Sarzonics attacked fiercely but lacked ideas so the match was not as exciting as System Karela matches can be. Despite that, the Rejistania fans enjoyed it. They had a good reason to do so after the 64th minute. That was the time when the Orange-Blues took the lead after an unexpected counter attack. Mijan Jasadajasa was able to score easily since the Sarzonian goalie Harvey Cooley fell asleep due to the lack of action in his half. The shouts of the coach forced rejistanian fans to cover the ears of children and seniors.

The result:

WARRIORS FIGHT ON IN LENGTHY FIGHT

The Praying2God Warriors pulled out the win in the longest soccer match in Warriors history at any level yesterday, as they beat Crystilakere 4-3 on penalties, after neither team could get the ball past the keepers before that. Both teams came out sharp, and proved that they belonged here, but it was the Warriors who withstood the pressure in the shootout to advance to the semifinals, where they will either play the host nation of Total and Utter Insanity, whom the Warriors have already beaten in this U21WC, or Fmjphoenix, whom the Warriors have never faced. Either way it should be an exciting match.

More "Slani" for Starblaydia

The Young Orange-Blues defeated the Starblaydian U21s, which lack a catchy nickname in the semifinal of the 11th U21 world cup. No Extra time was needed this time, a single goal by Makae'he sufficed to bring the Bright Orange-Blues to the final. Both teams played very defensively, the Young Orange-Blues were playing more attacking than the Starblaydians. The Starblaydian 5-5-0 and the Rejistanian 6-3-1 made neutral fans fall asleep and System Karela affecinados enjoy the match. Starblaydian fans chanted "System Karela? You're having a laugh!" against the "conceders" from Rejistania and Rejistanians replied with chants like "ethana-vaxiriva 'ki'lehiju!" or "xen'aru lasane karela!" (we better ommit the chants questioning the referees sexual orientation after warning Kamaki Je Kansu in a questionable situation, apparently the UN did not ask football fans in their 'Nicest' ranking)

Can you imagine a match, were both teams agreed in advance on a scoreless draw? That was maybe the best description of the match. Until Syku Lyku-Agbayani decided better to break the agreement and not to let this match go into Extra time or even penalty kicks and tried to increase the score with a shot from a distance, remaining of Xeseja Su in his first World Cups. Goalie Jana I Y was able to stop the ball and then threw it upfields to striker Jiujia Makae. Makae'he started a counter attack. Hsiju Syku was the one, who increased the score to the final result of 1:0. Thaddeus Gonzalez could not reach his shot into the upper left corner. After being ahead, the Orange-Blues changed their tactic to a 10-0-0 eventually proving where the Haditera of System Karela is.

Rejistania Out-Karela Starblaydia
Battle of the Defences gives 1-0 win to Rejistanians

Starblaydia fell in the Semi-Final of an Under-21 World Championship for the third time in nine attempts. This time we add Rejistania to the names of Bedistan and Cockbill Street as the too-good-to-overcome barriers in a Semi-Final.

Someone with Syku in their name scored the only goal of the game, though unfortunately it wasn''t Starblaydia's Syku Lyku-Agbayani, but it was Rejistania's Hsiju Syku, firing into the top-left corner past the hitherto impressive Gonzalez in the Starblaydi net.

We thought it might be third time lucky for Starblaydia, to get to a final at their third go in a Semi, but now we just hope it won't be third time unlucky for Starblaydia in the Third-Placed Playoff, which Starblaydia made their own in U21WCs 5 and 7.

CINDERELLA'S GLASS SLIPPER REFUSES TO BREAK

The Praying2God Warriors, whom nobody expected to get to the semifinals, after not making it out of the second round in their two previous appearances in the U21WC, are now in the finals after a 3-1 upset of #7 Fmjphoenix. The Warriors took the lead early, and never looked back, as Fmjphoenix was unable to score until the match was well out of reach. The Warriors will be cast underdogs in the final, as they will be facing either #1 Rejistania, who knocked the Warriors out of U21WC X, or #3 Starblaydia, whom the Warriors have never met.

The world cup champion Crystilakere Crystils made easy work of the total n utter insanity team in the under 21 world cup placement playoff round thing with a lot of useless crap in it. Crystilakere scored 6 times and really beat the crap out of total n utter insanity. Total n utter insanity lost so badly that crystilakere players walked off the field in extra time just to prove how bad total n utter insanity was. Alpha Siboldi was the best player for Crystilakere the defender scored 2 goals and was the man of the match.

DEFENSE WILL WIN U21WC XI
The Question is...Which Defense?

The Praying2God Warriors will meet Rejistania for the U21WC XI Championship, in what seems to be a growing rivalry, albeit that rivalry appears a bit one-sided at the moment. The Warriors and Rejistania have met in all three U21WCs that the Warriors have participated in. Rejistania has won both meetings, 3-0 in group play of U21WC IX and 1-0 in the 2nd Round of U21WC X. These have been the top two defenses in the tournament, with Rejistania having not conceded a goal so far, while the Warriors have only conceded three goals in six matches. It should be a very defensive match, which very likely will be decided in extra time or a shootout.

Conversation Between Sjwitz President and Sören J. Klinn, Minister of Sport.

S: "Well well well, you're quite the gambler mister president."
P: "Yes well Sören, we'll have to wait until the final is over to see if I win my bet"
S: "Promises to be a tense game, that final sir"
P: "Indeed it does, exciting at least, but I doubt if there will be a lot of goals"
S: "Would you like a lot of goals sir"
P: "Hehe well I'ld rather see a match that stays exciting until the last minute, but if one team is really better, I hope that they make some nice goals. Not scrappy ones. How's our team managing Sören?"
S: "Well, with the forming of the Sjwitz Soccer League, a lot of young talents have popped up. The first season is now almost finished, Matchday 17 will be played this weekend, out of 18. After that our scouts will report the best youth players and we can set up the team. The League is very tense by the way sir, 8 teams can still win it with two matches to go, but Zalgiris Trinss, Bayer Skent and Lokomotiv Oewftsjtad seem to be the three main contenders."
P: "Yes yes, less talk, I want to see a splendid tournament from our team you know that Sören. Ofcourse I know it's only the first time Sjwitz will participate, but I'm getting addicted to this game and I want Sjwitz' team to eventually win it. Not WC12, Not WC13, but one day..."
S: "We'll give it our bestest shot sir, even better than that. But if I might to give my honest opinion sir."
P: "You may"
S: "...well you have seen the matches at this tournament, there's some great soccer to see on those pitches. Not only the technical abilities of the individual players, but also the teamplay, team tactics, formations, these guys have been playing together for a while now, have been playing in competitions like these for a few years. So to be honest, if we ever want to win a WC, we'll have to wait until WC 20+ I think."
P: "Bah, well I gave you the right to use funding for a new sportschool, so there's not much I can do can I?"
S: "Well sir, you could watch the final of U21WC now, sooner or later you'll be watching that match with Sjwitz being one of the teams in it."
P: "Oh yes it's starting, Sören I must ask you to leave now, I'm quite a heavy fan of this thing"
S: "I hope you can win your bet sir"
P: "Yes well Praying2God, they're maybe not the favorites, but they were my hope for the title from the beginning, I placed a bet that a seeded team outside the top-8 would win and since they're the ninth seeds, they're my biggest hope. At least they made it ti the finals, now get me some of that sweet Sjwitz dough boys."
S: "But aren't Rejistania the favorites sir"
P: "Uhu, first seeds, they play good too, haven't seen their keeper at work though, he never has anything to do, anyway, get out, it's starting!"
S: "Ok bye Sir"
P: "yesyes, make me a great team Sören"
S: "*Sigh*, I'll try sir."
P: "Trying is not good enough"

Praying 2 Taderekansa

The general attitude of a Rejistanian fan is to expect the worst and be glad if things turn out better, even if only slightly, than he feared. So the expectations for this match were not high, people assumed the streak to break in a rather spectacular form. This time, their pessimistic expectations had no reason, since the Young Orange-Blues defeated the Christians of Praying2God 1:0. Another expectation was, that the match would be very defensive and with not many goals, and both teams fulfilled that expectation. A strange fact is that the Young Orange-Blues have no single player in their team, who believes in God, while apparently the entire Praying2God team believes in him. Besides Sune Kamex, who is Buddhist, the entire team believes in Inikresaism.

This match was again very defensively played. The occasional attack or counter attack was rewarded with loud cheers even when it failed. Very unsurprisingly, the half time score was 0:0. In the 57th minute however, the Young Orange-Blues had a chance, which yearned to be capitalized. A foul against midfielder Hsiju Syku was awarded by a yellow card against defender* from Praying2God (we do not know a proper adjective for this country) and a free kick for the Lasane. Defender Kamaki Je Kansu shot and the ball sailed past the defense and into the goal. The rest of the match, the team from Praying2God tried to attack fiercely, but the Orange-Blues concentrated only on defending the lead and so 1:0 was the final score. After the final whistle, insanity broke out, not only among the fans in Total n Utter Insanity, but also in entire Rejistania.

Junior Vikings sent back on their Longboat with 4th place

Inexperience seemed to be the deciding factor in this match, as the comparatively-young Fmjpheonix Under-21 side fell to a Starblaydia team with a number of twenty and twenty-one year-olds who are pushing for starting spots in the full side, never mind the Under-21s.

Players such as hat-trick-hero Daruis Belizaire, who slotted three goals past Franklin Cabrillo to seal Starblaydia's overwhelming 5-1 victory. Half-Rejistanian Syku Lyku-Agbayani netted his third of the Championships while Jikiri Fuinbar scored his first ever goal for Starblaydia.

Bruce Chen managed the only point on the board for the Junior Vikings, who walk away with Fourth Place from this year's tournament. Starblaydia's victory here, however, means that they will be second only to 3-time champs Rejistania in the world at this level.

Not a bad acheivement, is it? We love the Under-21s!

4th seems a consistancy when talking about Fmjphoenix sports

The Junior Vikings were shown that although they have the talent, they still need more expierence as they were completely overplayed by the Starblaydian side by the score of 5-1, finishing in 4th place, the third time that a Fmjphoenix team finished 4th in a competition.

Bruce Chen provided a little retribution for the Junior Vikings, as Franklin Carbillo endured a rough outing against an older and more expierenced side, allowing three goals past by Daruis Belizaire, and one a piece from Syku Lyku-Agbayani and Jikiri Fuinbar, who scored his first goal in play.

This is the Junior Vikings second highest finish in U21WC play. Back in U21WC8, the Junior Vikings fell to TnUI in a thriller 4-3. With another competition under their belt, these Junior Vikings are on their way to moving up the ladder.

CINDERELLA HEARTBROKEN

Unfortunately, Cinderella was unable to waltz away with the U21WC XI Championship, as the Warriors fell to Rejistania 0-1. It was still a brave effort by the Warriors, who had never advanced passed the second round before this U21WC. They are likely to see a signifigant increase in their ranking before the next U21WC. National Team Head Coach Paul Johnson spoke with reporters after the match, which he was attending to observe potential talent for the national team in a few years. Johnson told us that "Our kids definitely outplayed them today. It was just a case of their experience playing in such a pressure match that enabled them to convert one of the very few opportunities that they had. We'll beat them sooner or later." We (the Praying2God media) hope that the national team takes a lesson from this team, and realizes that they need to buckle down on defense in order to be competitive on the international stage, especially early on.

"We we're second best" - BoHo

Turori Eels Under-21 head coach Boibao Hoaibu (or some variation of that spelling that we can't be arsed to look up at this moment in time - hence the initials "BoHo") has made an audacious claim that his side, not Praying 2 God, were second best in this tournament. BoHo cites the fact that his side, too, was eliminated by the eventual champions Rejistania by a 1-0 scoreline, something that they shared with all teams that faced the unbeaten Orange-Blues in the knockout stage. However, BoHo claims that that since his side were able to hold the Orange-Blues scoreless for 90 minutes, and not lose until Extra Time, that the Electric Eels are far superior than any of Rejistania's other opposition, namely Runners-Up Praying2God. BoHo claims that had the Eels been placed in the opposite bracket, they, not Praying2God, would be sitting as runners up at the conclusion of the tournament.

To further suplement these claims, BoHo cites the fact that Praying2God could not even defeat Crystilakere on the pitch, no less would they have been able to beat the Electric Eels.

TURORIAN CLAIMS OUTRAGEOUS AND BASELESS
Not to Mention...Good for a Laugh

The Warriors U21WC squad that just finished runner-up in U21WC XI read a recent article published by a Turorian paper and laughed. The unanimous opinion among the team was "What do they mean, we could not even defeat Crystilakere? If we hadn't beaten them, we would have never been playing in the Championship Match. Sure, it took us a shootout to do it, but we still beat them." The Praying2God government has formally requested that the Turorian government make sure that the source of that article issues a correction, and ceases to publish such ridiculous nonsense in the future.

Vilitans Support Turori Claim

Respected Vilitan sports pundit and former Regional Goalkeeping Coach Jutai Linaou (Actual Spelling may very for similar reasons as cited by Turorians) backed Turorian claims recently published following Under 21 World Cup 11.

"Those Turorians really proved something against Rejistania. They held them off for the duration of the match and only lost in the extra period. Every single team that Rejistania played in the cup lost within the 90 minute period. Every Single Team. That is, except those Electric Eels. They were unlucky to be first team out of the hat, and certainly would have beaten a team such as Praying2God if it had come down to those two. Some in the Praying2God media have credited themselves with a "win" over Crystilakere? What is that. Nobody won. The game was a draw. Just because you win the coin toss that takes place after the conclusion of the match and, does not count towards statistical accounts of the match, does not mean that you've "won" the game, only that you have advanced. But all of this is pointless, as they will ALL finish behind our Jungle Kitties next season."

Turorians Claim Italy Were Second At WC1998
Fail To Realise Rules of Football Competitions

In another dimension, the World Cup Final of 1998 was played out between France and Brazil, as some may remember. Now, however, the Turorian head coach Boibao Hoiabu and Vilitan sports pundit Jutai Linaou dismisses Brazil's claim of being second best in that tournament - saying that Italy were second owing to their ability to hold France to penalties. At least, that's what it equates to. Linaou also claimed that the penalty shoot-out, used to determine the winner of football games when it is tied after 120 minutes, is nothing more than a "coin toss".

In fact, though it may be hard to grasp for biased Turorians, Praying2God have won more matches than Turori in this U-21 World Cup. That, and purely that, is the reason why they are in the final - and why they are better. Simple, really.

"I don't know if they've ever taught their kids what dictionaries and rosters were for down there in Cockbill Street, but they ought to start soon or the future does not look bright for those children. I'm just apalled that they would let something like that go into print, especially in this day in age where you can just run the damn arcticle through one hundred thousand spelling calculators. It's absurd, it really is. And what is this "Italy" they speak of? They were probably trying to spell Iansisle. Or well no, these are Cockbill Streetian's we're talking about. They must have been spelling "EL CID THE HERO"."

Rugby Player A Spelling-Bee Champion?!!!

recent Cockbill Street media reports mispelling the names of prominent Vilitan sports figure Jutaoi Linuao and Turorian Under-21 Electric Eels head coach Boaibou Houabou.

That is the claim the Vilitan government lashes out at us, supported by three-times spelling bee champion Alexander Kramp-Salecker, who happens to be prop for their rugby team, too (an intelligent rugby player? Surely the world will end?).

However, we bring you Kramp-Salecker's statement, which included the following piece of exquisite spelling:

I'm just apalled (sic!) that they would let something like that go into print, especially in this day in age where you can just run the damn arcticle

According to the Unseen Dictionary, these words/phrases are usually spelled: "appalled", "this day and age" and "article".

Now, if that's the effort of the spelling bee champion, one has to wonder what the average population spells like. Or speels liek, with special Vilitan spelling.

Besides, all the C-mail ever did were to quote Turori and Vilitan publications:

Turori Eels Under-21 head coach Boibao Hoaibu

Regional Goalkeeping Coach Jutai Linaou

the Turorian head coach Boibao Hoiabu and Vilitan sports pundit Jutai Linaou

If one can not trust Vilitan papers to get their own countrymen's names right, where should one go to then?

Tystrup removed from U21 team

Crystilakere under 21 goalkeeper Alwasi Tystrup has been officially removed from the under 21 team and called to be the main goalkeeper for the Crystils national team in the Jurassic Invitational Tournament. The new goalkeeper for the under 21 team will be Alcir Barbara who has been Alwasi Tystrup's understudy in the team recently. Alcir Barbara has very little experience but under 21 head coach Boubacar Dragov, a former goalkeeper himself, has put his faith in Barbara to lead the Crystils under 21 back to the semi finals next cup.

Streetians suffer from Selective Reporting

----------------------The Vilitan Government has stepped in to the middle of the war of words between two major regional publications and criticized the Ankh-Morpork C-mail of Cockbill Street for practicing "Selective Reporting." In an official statement, The Vilitan Government cited that while inconsistencies in spelling may have been printed in the Vilita National Co. media reports, users were made very aware of the fact that inconsistencies may have occured. In the recent printing of the Turori National, an early edition paper cited
"Under-21 head coach Boibao Hoaibu (or some variation of that spelling that we can't be arsed to look up at this moment in time - hence the initials "BoHo") has made"
, making it clear that the correct spelling was unavailable at the time and subject to change. And, it was in fact corrected in the full print edition published just hours later. A similar situation arose a day later in the early edition of the Vilita National, citing
"...eeping Coach Jutai Linaou (Actual Spelling may very for similar reasons as cited by Turorians) backed Turor...".
However, the Ankh-Morpork C-mail refused to attach such warning with it's publication, making users assume that the reports were being written about completely seperate people with similar spellings and relations, causing turmoil amongst the people of Vilita & Turori thinking that Boaibou Houabou had been sacked and replaced by someone named Boibao Hoaibu. A consortium of angry Turorian's are considering a suit against the shamed Streetian publication, but the details have not yet been finalized.

Mumamba Takes Funny Looking Role

-----------------Former Vilita Jungle Cats Forward, and goalscorer in the Vilitans first Cup Victory, the Cup of Tardy, Lorenzo Mumamba, is rumored to have accepted an offer from the Funny Looking Football Association to take control of their youth program for the next Under-21 World Cup. Mumamba is well known to the people of the Funny Looking Islands due to his famous Funny Looking boots that earned international publicity...once... A phone call to Mumamba's residence was not returned, but rumors have placed the former Tivali City forward on a flight to the Funny Looking Islands where, coincidentally, a Press Conference has been scheduled by the Funny Looking Football Association. Mumamba made his last international appearance against Five Civilized Nations in World Cup 20 Qualifiers, in the legends match where the Vilitan FA invited some of it's retiring veterans for one last stab at international competition. Mumamba joined Jim Vella on the scoresheet in that match, won by Vilita.
