Hyperspace windows flashed brilliantly in the oort cloud of OGLE-TR-10, a G2V star on the edge of 'known' space (4,900 LYs from Earth). The mothership of the 2nd Fleet, the "Asherton", and a small support fleet began scanning the system for inhabitable worlds.
"Admiral Lincoln, sensors indicate two planets in this system," the "Asherton"'s sensors officer reported. "The first is 1.2 AU from the star and has a breathable atmosphere. The second planet is a gas giant about 18 AU from the star, but has no appreciable moons or Trojan asteroids. This system is very desolate, very few mineral rich asteroids."
"Sounds perfect, lets set up the outpost," Admiral Lincoln said as the ships reentered hyperspace, dropping out in positions high above the first planet.
"Deploy dropships and begin deployment of the orbital hyperspace gate."
