Is there anywhere to learn about the game for newbies?

Can anyone tell me the best place to find out how this game works im new to this game and lookin for a bit of info, not the FAQ's.

oh yea fyi that is a site with a lot of info that may be overwhelming, but i don't know what else to say, either search through the forums, be careful what you click on the wiki, or get a friend to help!

On these fora, the best thing to do is to look at the stickies that talk about various aspects of the game. Euroslavia does a great Guide to NationStates (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=357975) that also includes a variety of links and explanations of terms and principles of roleplay. He also does another guide (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=392208) to government types, economies, and other things. It also wouldn't hurt to give a look at Kaukolastan's guide (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=352036) to gaining respect on the fora. There are a lot of guides to writing, which is the building block of these roleplays.
Besides the fora, Sanctaphrax and Hogsweat run a Roleplay School (http://s6.invisionfree.com/RoleplaySchool/index.php?) where I'm a Modern Tech character roleplay teacher.
