Aava Maa

5 islands - Makadon, YgliTent, Flád, Sant Grego and Savique

Currency - the cymraeg of 100 sentdi. Following invasion by UMS states, currency became desparately unstable and was revalued upon independence. Existing bank notes designed in 1995 are to be re-designed and launched into circulation this year. The Aava Maa Bank have announced the identities of the historic figures who will feature on the reverse of the new notes; namely... Jdno Andras [sculptor, on the 5cym]; Deanisa Crandháis [writer and teacher, 10cym]; Amogresin Andtys [engineer, 20cym]; Madalin Gog [painter and teacher, 40cym]; Grentanasi Bhadant [linguist, 50cym]; Adim Sculi [architect of Senate Building and first Governor of national bank, 100cym]

The nation was brought together as one state in 1974, following the five separate nations' resolution to form a single state to avoid the potential financial ruin of any single near neighbour. The name was taken from the ancient term for the islands, and is said to mean "Width of Many Worlds".

The country itself is one of 3 main languages. English is becoming widely used across the country , but Shambolique is the national language; 93% of the population speak Shambolique as a first language. The third language, Gragsian, is used on Savique but is slowly dying out. It was agreed by the then Government and Savique Council in 1990 to limit funding for Gragsian and its slow death has been inevitable ever since.

Each island has a regional Council, directly elected. A national Senate is elected every 4 years. The Prime Minister alone chooses a President, whose role is mainly symbolic. Currently, there are 303 members of the Senate, but Boundary Changes may raise this to ensure fair representation of rural areas.
The represented parties currently are...

Social Democratic Party / Soces Democratjn Grup : a fairly left of centre group led by current Prime Minister and the largest Party in the Senate.
People's Voice / Vos u Poplis : centre-right coaliton
Liberal and Radical Alliance / Libres ac Holin Ylens : left and centre left group often found to be the only willing party in coalition talks
Christian Party / Cristis Grup : largely right wing Christian group
Green / Vred : environmentalist, on the right
