Chains of Mediocracy [attn: Arda]

Somewhere, Over Arda...

Self-Amusement was always rather enjoyable. And yet amusement at the expense of others was perhaps more satisfying than most. Indeed, the self-labled 'Almighty Arda' had now passed, leaving nothing but a group of hardcore wannabees. And whilst its leader, Melkor Unchained had now been occupied by the civil war led by Alkanphel, and whilst the time was being consumed within that event, the great lion was now silent. Still, even before when Lord Melkor reigned a fist of iron over his nation, Arda was silent, and was indeed chained by the great weight of mediocracy. It was a silent killer, yet murder was murder, and Arda was nothing but an example.

Moving slowly over the great plains of Arda, the great starship watched with careful eyes, the people and creatures below them. Even the Hogwarth could not remain silent, creating an obvious presense on every sensor-array within hundreds, perhaps even thousands or millions of miles. Still, the largest ship within the great fleet contained the most capable defense, in case of hostile approach of course. And although it had not been used in anger, nor had it been intended to anytime soon, its weapons always, always remained ready. No, Arda would be no victim of this ship, nor any ship of the Spencertopian fleets.

Laughing deep from within his belly, the great Warlord proclaimed loudly for everyone to hear, "And this is the great lands of Lord Melkor?"

The Commodores and Marshalls could hardly hide their grins, as if the man had just cracked a joke. Still, they remained respectful, as was the general code of this army. Without codes, they would hardly be efficient, and without efficiency, they would hardly compromise an army, let alone a loose gathering of bandits.

"Do you see the lands before us? These are the orcs most feared, apparently." he chuckled slightly to himself. He turned to his closest followers, each of them flinching as he moved with enormous power and speed, "These are creatures of a historical nature. We will never become them, nor like them. And they call themselves to be from the great Melkor Unchained. No, I see chains. They are the chains and the concequence of a leader who took his power for expense. Not one fears them anymore."

As the Marshells watched on, they wondered exactly what was the meaning of the mission of which Mardos had taken them upon. And not one knew, for so far it seemed that Arda was only being made an example. For the mistakes, of a Titan now forgotten.

OOC: Sorry its a bit vauge for now. :)

Somewhere, Over Arda...

It was not likely to get far. For as soon as it moved inside the Continent of Arda, it was known. The ship would find all of its transmissions to be no longer fuctioning, as if the air itself would no longer allow them to move. It's visual scans and RADAR would act as if they were malfunctioning, giving off obviously false and outrageous readings. The Sky itself seemed to darken and grow ominous around the ship, the clouds becoming a pitch black. The ship had triggered one of the most devious things in the world: The Ardan Elemental Defense Grid.

As the ships lowered, it only became worse. A Great maelstrom developed over the Great Plains of Arda, and Tornados swarmed over the fleet, combining and forming thicker F-4's and F-5's. Hail bounced against the borders of the ships, propelled faster than the speed of sound by the massive tornadoes, yet growing to the size of boulders. Lightning seemed to be directly targetting the ships, as if aimed by some unseen force. It was as if the very continent was attacking them.

A Great moan echoed throughout the valley, like the very planet waking from some terrible nightmare, and though the only visuals would be those outside their windows, they would unable to see the great Giants pouring out from the Land, measuring 300 feet vertically, and digging into the earth, carrying out huge balls of molten plasma. The Air itself seemed to manifest, as the blackened tornadoes took shape of a monstrous humanoid forms with eyes of lightning, and a mouths of soot.

Volleys of plasma and electromagnetic force would overtake the fleet to singe its armor and destroy its electronics. Forms of Fire, over a hundred in number, flew through the sky, throwing balls of pure plasma of the hottest degree into the ships, targetting weakened spots such as windows and surveillence equipment. As they were made of pure fire, some flew directly into the engine exhausts (If they so existed) to explode the core with massive explosive attacks. Huge pilliars of flame flew down from the sky, ignited by the golems of fire, and doused around the fleet. This was the terrible nightmare. This was why the door must always be knocked on.

OOC: Gosh...I've been waiting forever for someone to trigger the grid I've made in this place a good 18 months ago.

[OOC: Spencertopia, I need to know some things before I can properly respond, though it looks like High Orcs beat me to it.

First; where is this ship? The wording is a bit ambiguous. And, given what's going on in and over my country right now, I will not accept this unnanounced interference, as it is utterly impossible for you to sneak in a huge starship while I have 7 Aerospace fleets in orbit over Arda and all 11 Gravfleets mobilized in various parts of the nation.

Secondly, if you want to go ahead with an unscripted storyline [that is to say, one that hasnt been discussed with myself or my region first], you're more than welcome. But please bear in mind that I don't grant plotline concessions to people when this happens: I am for the most realistic and sensible outcome given the people and equipment involved. In short, if we see an unidentified military vessel snooping around over Arda, we're very likely to shoot it down first and ask questions later.

Let me know if you want me to respond, or if this is more of a general thing for the rest of the region. I'm a bit busy plotting my coup :p ]

I think Melkor's questions pretty much cover it, except for one:

1. How many ships are there? Your post implies more than one, and the number will of course factor into any Ardan response.

OOC: Listen fella... you don't want to bother Melkor, it doesn't work well. As my Amalthea venture showed.
