OOC: First half is a story like thing, should turn to an RP later when the background is painted.

IC:

The Ticonderoga system existed as a colony of the WIckian Commonwealth almost since its conception. Its charter was granted by the Commonwealth senate and gave a small group of proprietors’ sovereignty of the systems for exploitation of its natural resources. The system itself was uninhabitable, out of a half-dozen of planetoids only two supported atmospheres, one so thin that no oxygen was contained by it, and the other was a veritable oven of noxious gasses and radiation. The remainders of the systems planets were comprised of dense metals, such as iron-nickel deposits as well as other valuable metal. The two outlying gas giants each were comprised of valuable gasses that could be refined in useful products for ship’s armaments.

And so it was that almost fifty years before The Fall that the proprietors of the colony began developing its valuable assets. There were essentially two groups that formed the board of development, this board of course comprised of those men responsible for the colonies development. The Capella Guild and the Fucella Trading Cartel, both well established commercial and industrial powers based in Thetis looking to expand their operations. Within two decades they would be based in Ticonderoga dependent upon its success.

Within five years of its founding the colony the Capella guild establish multiple mining bases, collection areas, and ore refineries through out the system and its asteroid field. Each planet orbit held multitudes of raw ore mined from the planet waiting to be refined by the central refineries around the central planet in the system TIcon three. The refined ore and gas products would then be distributed through the Commonwealth and its allies systems by the Fucella Trading Cartel. Quickly the system was established as the principle resource providing colony for the Commonwealth and it simply couldn’t keep up with the demand for its products. It was a profitable era to be a proprietor in the system, a golden age. However, the future would bring only darker times for the Commonwealth and its colonies…the dark times were coming then the fall into the abyss of defeat and despair.

The fleet that withdrew from Thetis could not be considered a fleet anymore, it would take only a single squadron of BC(p)’s to wipe it from existence in a single broadside. What was surprising however was that any warships survived the engagement with the Solar Navy at all, over fifty ships survived the battle. The Protector’s Own along with its regular navy reinforcements suffered heavily every monitor was destroyed as well as every super dreadnaught, only a handful of dreadnaughts survived and those that did were battered hulks. The lighter units survived in greater numbers, whereas larger more well protected vessel’s armor was damaged or pitted these smaller ships lacked any protection, some vessels had gouges along there entire lengths of their hull, or were shot clean though. It was worse then a defeated fleet it was a destroyed fleet, but no one who watched the battered vessels make their way in system in a ragged but organized formation would call it a broken fleet, for all its been through, all the blood its shed, all its lost, it did not give up the fight and it did not surrender, they fought honorably by god!

The lead ship in the ragged formation was an ancient Triumphant class battleship, the vessel served in the People’s Navy before it served in the Commonwealth Navy and was largely considered an obsolescent design. It was however this old bitch of a ship that rallied the dishearten and nearly broken fleet in orbit of Thetis after Protector Strength’s demise. It was the actions of the officer in command of her that saved what was left of the defense fleet, they then held off the Solar Navy long enough for many civilians to escape and it cost them dearly. And in the end this officer got most of them out of the system alive. This ship was perhaps too one of the heaviest damaged of them all, Ortagan battle lasers speared through her hull in multiple areas, cutting deep rifts in her flanks, the ship seemed to be help together by chewing gum.

The Bridge of the ship was located deep within the battleship’s bowels was still smoked filled from overloaded circuitry, blood still staining consoles. A man sat in the captain’s seat, in burnt sweat and blood stained civilian cloths. His right arm burnt from a plasma leak, his head covered in gauze from where a splinter skimmed it, his body looked tiered beyond comprehension, his eyes bloodshot. If one looked into his eyes every nerve they had would turn cold as steal like the captain’s soul. This was the second time he commanded a fleet against the Solar Navy and both times he had each command just about decimated, and he held himself responsible for all his people’s deaths, it was his burden of command.

Commodore Villers had arrived in the Ticonderoga system, little did anyone know, that the system indeed all of what was left of the shattered WIckian Commonwealth would ever be the same.

Some men would regard the former Protector of the Commonwealth as a hero and still others would see him as a despot or a tyrant. Villers knew the truth though, Eric Strength was neither, he was simply an officer of the navy fulfilling his duty the best he knew how, and despite his best efforts he bought his people a little less then thirty years. But the people of Thetis survived under his rule, if their planet did not. Strength realized one thing though and that was the viability of the Ticonderoga system being made into a safe haven from the wraith of the Hegemony, for it was too close to Vakutu territory for the Ortagan’s to strike less they dare raise the ire of the Valinor. And so for the first time in its history it seemed that the WIckians would be safe for a while at least.

Scholar’s called this period of history in the Raumreich the Era of the Lion, in reference of course to the seemingly endless superiority of the Star Empire over the other inhabitants of the Inner Marches of the Raumreich. The Verniian people were reborn out of their cruel occupation, but their new government was still a relative unknown, some said it was merely decadent, that its backbone was torn from it when Admiral Harris died so many years ago. And what of the Wickians who were forced to inhabit their single star system that remained in the inner marches, with only one far flung colony and a half dozen of its ‘mobile cities’ to its name, it seemed like they would finally be absorbed by one of the other major powers and fade quietly to black.

That would not be the case though, for one WIckian still believed in the will of his people, who still clung to their nationality and sense of brotherhood even after their home world was turned into so much of a wasteland. A man who now survived two separate engagements with the full might of the Solar Navy, who knew that they were too a beaten people, much like his own. Only he would ensure that the Wickians rose from their defeat, and that the Ortagan’s Pyrrhic victory in the war they waged would ensure their eventual demise. Perhaps he saw the “Age of the Lion” as not the dominance of the Star Empire over the other powers but rather its twilight. To Villers this age was called something else it was a new start, a rebirth of his people, it was Tableau Rosa.

The powers of the former Commonwealth who claimed the sovereignty of the system was its original proprietors the Capella Mining Guild. The guild turned the system into one of the most heavily industrialized systems in the Raumreich, and by the War of the Lion the system was contained the second largest shipyard in the Commonwealth. After the war it became inhabited by refugees from Thetis and extensive orbital habitats were constructed as well as numerous underground enclaves formed out of mines that have been used up. In the year before the Second battle of Thetis the system cut all ties with Strength’s government and they declared neutrality. Even with the colony’s dismissal of his rule Protector Strength was not a petty man and he realized that the key to his people’s survival was through the Ticonderoga system, and so no less then half of the Commonwealth Navy was deployed to protect the system. And so it was that the might of the WIckian Navy and the former commonwealth’s richest star system found itself under the rule of a merchant guild, who perhaps had not learned what Villers’ Tableau Rosa truly meant for them…they would become aware of it soon enough.

OCC: Is it alright if I participate? Most of my space RPs have been faltering lately.

Would it be alright to have an RGF independent cruiser tour the systems of the commonwealth? The government would certainly be willing to aid in the reconstruction efforts...

Eh, I need to associate with a particular space RP community.

If you wish to aid sure, but as for touring my systems i only really have one left...food, medical supplies, orbital habitats, ship repair facillites are all needed

The RGSV Card Cheat, one of the larger independent cruisers, performs a hyperspace jump into WIckian space.

On a diplomatic mission, the Card Cheat aims to end the period of seculsion that has characterized LRR for the past few years, ever since the Aumanii nuclear strike.
