The first operational version of the long-delayed Ret spaceframe entered service today, but not as the battleship that was originally planned by Labule officials. After several prototypes that displayed very limited functionality, the Ret class battle ship was redesigned as the Bodemia class scout ship and successfully completed testing last week. The Bodemia class does not incorporate the weapons originally intended for the Ret. Instead, the space once used for hoksas and antiproton cannons is filled with sensors and communications devices. Expected to be a great asset in both times of war and peace, the Labule has declared the Ret Project (now renamed the Bodemia Project) a complete success, if not the type of success originally intended.
Bodemia class (scout ship): $2,000,000,000
The Bodemia class is built fast and tough. Equipped with advanced long- and short-range sensors, its primary function in times of war is to autonomously scout out enemy fleets, obtain data, and return safely to deliver whatever information it has collected. It has two forward defensive hoksa launchers, each loaded with five mines. It is also equipped with aft laser cannons to fend off pursuing ships and projectiles. In peacetime it can serve equally well as a science or courier ship.
