Oliverry gives the NS Bowl trophy to Adam Island

Oliverrian minister of Sports, General manager of the organization of the NS Bowl I and president of the NS Bowl Federation, Richard Gonard, organized a press conference to officially give the organization of the NS Bowl II to Adam Island. The Federation gave the NS Bowl trophy to Adam Islandish Minister of Sports in a ceremony to symbolize the nomination of Adam Island as host country.
Richard Gonard said:"Adam Island is a very good host for such a tournament. And, this should be a good one since NS Bowl I winners and Runner-ups aren't participating into this one"
To finish, Oliverry and Adam Island are both happy and together, they wanted to wish a good tournament to everyone.

Sarzonia wins gridball opener, 34-7

With a punishing ground game led by running back Curtis Allen's 106 yards on 21 carries and quarterback Casey Quinn's 246 passing yards, the Sarzonian national gridball team opened their second NS Bowl tournament with an easy 34-7 win over Marligantis. Sarzonia's win puts them in first place in Group E ahead of idle Ratvipa.

"We played Sarzonian gridball," Coach Bobby Sanders said. "We established the running game and won the time of possession battle. We also got a great came from Casey Quinn and our defense was almost perfect. If we can keep doing that, we'll have a chance to do something good.

Sarzonia struck first with an opening drive that took 4:16 off the clock and culminated in a 26 yard touchdown run by Allen to give the team a 7-0 lead. Sanders then surprised most of the team by calling an onsides kick immediately afterword. Wide receiver Lennie Coles recovered the kick then was on the receiving end of Quinn's first touchdown pass, a 74 yard strike just two plays later to give the team a 14-0 advantage.

"That put them behind the eight ball," Coles said of his touchdown catch and run. "They started pressing from there." Marligantis tried to get back in the game by throwing the ball and took six plays to march 84 yards in 1:16 before cashing in on a pass interference penalty to score from the one yard line.

Sarzonia struck back almost immediately with Quinn hitting Allen out of the backfield with a screen pass that turned into a 71 yard touchdown pass. Marligantis tried to pass the ball to get back in the game again, but Allen, playing strong safety on defense, picked off the pass and advanced it to the three yard line before Quinn found tight end Brian Cooley for a 28-7 advantage. Kicker Nick Novak made it 31-7 with a 46 yard field goal as the first half came to a close.

Marligantis abandoned its running game in an effort to get back in the game quickly, but Sarzonia benefitted from a fierce pass rush that led to a fumble recovery by Allen. The drive bogged down from there, but Novak was true on a 49 yard field goal to give Sarzonia a 34-7 lead. From there, all Sarzonia had to do was recover another fumble and run out the clock.

"We'd like to bottle this game up and keep playing like this," Quinn said. "We feel good but our work is not done yet."

Euroslav Team Utterly Embarassed

After falling to Oliverry, in the worst rout in Euroslavian history, the general manager made an announcement that changes will be necessary to make the Euroslavian team a true competitor in any competition to follow. It is suspected that the team coach will be fired, along with a few 'shuffles' to the players. The coach, after the disappointing loss to Oliverry announced that next time, Euroslavia's team will be a heck of a lot more competitive next time around, and will take things more seriously, however, he may not actually be around when the next time comes. The General Manager is currently interviewing other applicants to take the position of Head Coach.

Florida Oranges Drops Opening Game, 17-14
by Earl Dubin

In what was hailed as the closest sporting event of the new year by the Florida Sports Association's Commissioner Jerry Dawkins, Florida Oranges lost to Turori after a missed field goal attempt by kicker Bartolo Vermudez. In the final two minutes of the second half, following a terrific drive by Quarterback Champ Windham, Vermudez was sent out to attempt a 39-yard field goal. Rattled by the thousands of roaring fans in the Adamdome, he missed his mark by mere inches. The kick would've tied the game and possibly sent it into overtime.

"I blew the game," Vermudez stated quite bluntly, when asked about his feelings on the Florida loss. "There's no sugar-coating it. There's no doubt in anybody's mind that I did. I was sent out with the intention of tying up the game, and I came back empty-handed. It's a humiliating experience, and one I definitely don't plan on repeating."

The twenty-nine year old Vermudez is 194 for 240 in career field goal attempts back in the FFL, and is regarded as one of the better kickers in the Sunshine State. His missed field goal attempt was dismissed as the first game jitters by coach Jay Bregler at the post-game conference outside of Adam City.

"We're playing on strange ground," said the hard-nosed Bregler to reporters. "Most of us never even heard of Adam Island let alone visited it! This was an overwhelming experience for the guys, and though it's tragic that we didn't pull out the win, now's not the time to whip out the torches and pitchforks, force the blame on one guy, and hang him in the gallows!"

When asked about the upcoming game against Kylaai, Bregler seemed fairly enthusiastic. "We've seen what playing at the Adamdome is like, and we've got a great idea of how these foreign guys play ball. Personally, I think we're going to go out there and dominate. We've got a solid defense and a very potent offense, and so far everybody is feeling great. Champ's telling me his arm feels like a hundred bucks, and we know what kind of ruckus he can cause when he's in good health. I think everything will fall into place this next game."

Despite the loss suffered at Turori's hands, the Florida Oranges still played a great game. In the first half of the game QB Champ Windham threw a 67-yard bomb to wide receiver Lewis Reed which was completed for a touchdown. The second touchdown was scored at the beginning of the second half, after an unstoppable drive by Windham that ended in a QB sneak. In total, Windham passed for 243 yards.

East Lithuania hopes to win over Turori

As it's East Lithuanias first time in the NS Bowl, they hope to put in a win and go on to the Semi's. It's a 50-50 chance. But East Lithuania thinks there mainly passing game can score many touchdowns... while there linbackers hopes there mid-feild coverage can disrupt any short passes, and there lineman's pressure can stop the QB dead in his tracks.

Funny Looking Islands ready to do battle

The Funny Looking Islands overcame a strong Liverpool England side 40-34 in the AdamDome today to reserve their spot in the quaterfinals due to two late field goals from John Fredricks(K). Fredricks said that "the games was one of two strong offences". Greg Simons(HB) had an impressive game clocking up a total of 123 yards and scoring one toouchdown. Alan Breen(QB) was unstopable, trowing for 3 touchdowns and sneaking in a touchdown himself. Daunte Randels(WR) also had a great game, running for 140 yards and scoring two touchdowns while Conor Ragen(TE) performed well and also got his name on the score sheet with a touchdown just before half-time.

Defensive Co-ordinator, Mick Williams was not happy with the defences performance claiming that "come the quaterfinals, a strong defence is essential". Eddie Quells(DT) and Andy Hans(CB) also said that they were not happy with the defences performance and improvements have to be made before taking on Oliverry.

Disaster Strikes Funny Looking Islands

Disaster struck the Funny Looking Islands NS Bowl claim today as physio, Tom Zacton, announced that veteran running back Greg Simons has been ruled out of the competition with a severe break in his leg. "The injury occured in training today when Greg landed awkwardly, breaking a bone in his lower calf" announced Mr. Zacton to a to the horror of a number of sports journalists at this evenings press conference.
David O'Brien is the most likely canidate to fill the boots of Simons for the rest of the competition. Although only a rookie he can be quite a handful. He played his trade with the University of Quanton before being draughted by the Indegino Boars this season who had quite a poor season (6-10-0). O'Brien played in all 16 games running for 1200 yards and 8 rushing touchdowns. When asked about his thoughts about being called up as running back he said "all he is thinking about now is the game against Oliverry".

Gunning for gold

Funny Looking Islands yet again played a stormer hammering Oliverry 47-2. Surprisingly, it was Oliverry who went ahead when Alan Breen(QB) was sacked in his own end zone causing Oliverry to go 2-0 up. East Lithuania to Face Host Nation!

In the Semi-Finals, East Lithuania will face the host nation of NS Bowl II, Adams Island, for a spot at the Finals. It is there first NS Bowl apperance... yet still East Lithuania is eyeing that Finals spot.
The game was close and really made a weird feeling for East Lithuania as it was the biggest upset they have ever played. First, Turori's QB had his way in the 1st half... by throwing 2 TD passes. However the Turori Speacil Teams played probrobly their worst game missing one PAT wide right, while DT Goodwin blocked the next one. That left Turori up 12-0 at halftime.
But East Lithuania would not give up. The second half was destroction time as QB Scharfetter threw for 2 TD passes both to WR Pearson, making it 14-12. Then the defence stepped up & eventuilly DE Santoro sacked the Turori QB behind in the end zone for a safty... bringing the game 16-12. The fate of the game was sealed as QB Scharfetter handed it off to HB Bass who broke for a career record 80-yard-rushing TD to bring the game 23-12. Then for kicks in the last seconds of the game, Kicker Villhour kicked another career record 52-yard-FG to end the game 26-12.
It was a hard played game for both teams, but East Lithuania came up on top and will face Adams Island at 3:00 P.M. Don't miss it!

East Lithuania Loses Out... But Not Destroyed

The East Lithuanian Football team arrived home today feeling upset... yet proud of there accomplishment. Being the first time at NS Bowl, it was a good effort put on to make it to the semi-finals.
Now, to the happenings of the game. Most East Lithuania fans blame the injuries of QB Scharfetter and MLB Colvin, the two captins of the Off. and Def. It started good for East Lithuania when Kicker Villhour kicked a 48-yard-FG to bring the game to 3-0. Thats when things went wrong. The next drive, as MLB Mike Colvin charged up for a blitz, a lineman came in and commited a chopblock. This strained his right knee and it kept him out of the game. But that was the begining. After a Adam's Island punt, the drive would turn the game completely around. On 2nd and 11, QB Mark Scharfetter set up in the shotgun. As he dropped back, the defensive blitz broke through the line and they rush Scharfetter. He did not have the time to throw, so he stepped up to take a hit. Then, the Adams Island MLB came up to deliver a trumendes sack that brought Scharfetter up and down onto his collor bone. Scharfetter held onto the ball, but would not get up after the whistle. He was takin of the feild. Doctors later reported his collor bone broke on impact and he could not play. Before halftime, the Adams Island HB broke for several runs and eventuilly got a touchdown. The left halftime with the score 7-3. At the second half, the HB again ran into the end zone for a TD, bringing the score 14-3. The game went scoreless after that. The final score: Adams Island 14 - East Lithuania 3.
Couch Feno said later "This team really played hard, and we could not beat them. We wish them luck in the Finals and I'll be rooting for them." Don't forget to watch the NS Bowl Finals: Adams Island vs. Funny Looking Islands at 5:00 P.M.
