Tell the story behind your flag(s)

Guffingford

I never saw this before, so I guess it's the first thread about it: tell the story behind your flag, ICly of course.

IC:
Central Comittee banner

On every streetcorner, on every wall, in every room of a police office or firedept or any other building of the public sector you will see this symbol. Banned in every other European country, and even in several nations of the Imperial Armies regional alliance, the genderless face is the pounding heart of the comittee. No one knows the origin of the symbol, but is probably a product of the sick twisted mind of the late Docter Schilling. For the people of Guffingford it is a symbol of peace, prosperity and above all; order. When you come home and you happen to disagree with the party and see this banner taped on your frontdoor, you know your time is up.

National flag
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/guffingford.jpg
The flag is based on the old Prussian national flag, but the alpha and omega are added to show our dedication and love for God. This flag is officially the chancellor's flag, but has never been used for that purpose, the party banner is used for party and other occasions where Solan Rixx (our leader) shows himself. The jack and pilot flag are the same, except the black bars on top and bottom are missing and an Iron Cross is placed in the upper left corner. Recently this flag replaced the warflag and the admiral's flag, under heavy protest of the army's leadership since a special piece of military history would be lost. Both the warflag and admiral's flag are still used, but no longer associated with the Guffingfordii administration.

State flag

This special flag only sees daylight when a Guffingfordii official visits another nation. Since officials from Guffingford aren't very popular guests at parties and other international happenings this flag is mostly sees itself in military parades and finds use in the Church. Another version of this flag is the banner form, where the centered bird is rotated 90° clockwise and the flag is used hanging from buildings, sometimes 50 feet tall and 10 wide. In this flag not the Prussian black-white-black has been used but the traditional German black-white-red.

Governor's flag
http://members.lycos.co.uk/manhattanproject120/Flags/colonial.jpg
Whenever a ship, airplane, hotair balloon or a car has a governor inside that vessel must have this flag on display. The history behind this one is quite strange, since it has the Dutch symbol of the overseas governor, as well as a black-orange border. Experts do not agree about this, but it is reputed to be an hommage to the Netherlands, and their loyalty to the Guffingfordii Empire. It is an interesting fact almost all Guffingfordii governors come from the Netherlands.

Colonial flag

Of all colonies, wheter it be an icy landscape, a desert or a tropical island, you always see this old German flag in the upper left corner and the unique palmtree shield. Some people in Greenland (Guffingfordii colony) have complained about this and use the original flag of Greenland, for obvious reasons. This flag has also been used by the African colonies but after the Declaration of Independence by the former vice-Emperor of Guffingford this flag lost all meaning. It is now only used by the Guffingfordii police force on the Panooly continent but hasn't lost its official meaning.

Holy Panooly's flag
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/holy_panooly.jpg
Perhaps one of the oldest symbols of this world, the Panooly flag remains myserious. No one knows who is meant on the flag, a sun god, a special ruler or a symbol to intimidate. No one knows, and cannot know because the first traces of this symbol are 7000 years old. The general assumption is that the symbol is the frightening face of Tol-Uhm, the first real ruler of the Panooly Continent who united (and murdered) all tribal leaders for absolute rule. However, a 100% certainty is impossible. The former Imperial Realm of Holy Panooly has been merged with the Guffingfordii Empire and is now part of the Holy Dual Empire of Guffingford-Panooly. The former Panooly republic did not use a jack, a pilot flag, an admirals flag, a presidential flag or any other form of indentity. The red version of the flag (the real one) has been replaced with a black version after the fascist government was elected and wanted to eradicate all symbols that can be associated with communism ie all red Panooly flags. The red still finds use in isolated communities and is officially banned, but no one enforces that law.

Un-official flags

Flag of an experimental nation called "Democratic Guffingford". Off the coast of the Panooly continent, a large island has been used to dump dissidents, criminals and other unwanted people of Guffingford or Holy Panooly. Mostly these people want democracy, freedom of speech and freedom of press and now they are allowed to run their own nation, carefully watched by the military. Even though the government swore revenge after the islanders used adopted and changed the Colonial Flag, the government has not yet done anything to punish the people there. Furthermore, nobody cares in Guffingford if this nation decends into a total anarchy; it proves the omnipresent party theory democracy is poison.

The Flag of Moleland

This image represents the symbol of our nation. The Mountain depicted on the flag is the nations capital, or Mole Mountain. The Sun is just a symbol of the growing nation. The Red in the background is simply the national colour.
Serpent Country

OOC: No one else except for Moleland seems to be posting on this thread, so I will, anyway. Guffingford, you have quite a nice collection of flags there too.

http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/serpent_country.jpg

This is the banner of Serpent Country. The green snake hissing stands for the nation itself, and the gray orb in the center represents the world, and all humanity.

The blue curl at the bottom is an old symbol in a local writing system, being an ideogram for "government" or "state." This symbol also appears on Serpent Country's unit of currency, the yaka. Placed below the orb and the snake, this symbol represents the resources of the state (Serpent Country) which are in service to the people of Serpent Country (the snake), and the rest of the world (the orb).

As for the colors, Yellow and Blue have been the national colors of Serpent Country since times immemorial. However, at present no one is quite sure what exactly the colors stand for. The position has been raised that the colors stand for Compassion and Judgement, Heaven and Earth, or Night and Day (together symbolizing eternal vigilance). Or, perhaps some ancient artist simply thought the colors looked good.

---------------------------

At any rate, Serpent Country sends greetings to both Guffingford, Moleland, and also to the dissident state of Democratic Guffingford. May the gods favor your path.
Ut-Jor

The bladed circle is an ancient symbol in Ut-Jor culture. The blades represent the might of the Ut-Jor people, while the circle represents the unending cycle of constant war in Ut-Jor's history. The bladed circle itself is used primarily as Ut-Jor's national symbol. The national flag is always printed on blood velvet, a fabric produced only in Ut-Jor and historically a royal cloth.
