Would anyone be interested in an alternative history RP? Alternative history is a genre where technology occurs before it is due. EG, the Romans harness steampower in the year 50 BC; or maybe Leonard da Vinci actually built his Ornithopter, and so airborne travel first occured in the 15th century; or perhaps Charles Babbage perfected his difference engine. Would anyone be interested in an RP using this technology?

(Also, I am aware that the dates on the poll are not precise; they are ment to suggest eras rather than the actuall dates.)

a late 19th Century early 20th Century role play went on for a while (and hopefully will continue)

some of the storyline included: 1)the South winning the Civil War, and the US spending a goodly portion of the next 50 years peacefully reuniting a good chunk of what was lost, 2) Germany absorbing Austria and Czechslovakia after unification 3) Colombia causing trouble and being crushed by a combined US/British/Canadian alliance, 4) Germany and Russia and Italy as the Central Powers triggering World War 1 in 1905 against Japan, US, Britian, France, Turkey, etc...

other fun stuff as well.

Well... A vote for ancientiness, as well as victorian, WWI, and WWII. Let's see, maybe something that begins in about 1870 and ends in 1950?

Surely alternative history would be any history where different events take place? E.g. Columbus' ship is destroyed in a storm, America is never discovered.

Yes very much so. I voted Medieval but I am also interested in Ancient, 19th and 18th century and many more time periods.

Well, yes, the example you mentioned with columbus's ship is also alternative history; however, me being the technological physics nerd that I am, I prefer to focus on the technology.

Pre 500 CE.
Carthage wins.
Boudicca wins.
Jesus dies as an infant.
Rome stays a minor city-state.
Phoenicians successfully colonize New World.
Gnosticism becomes dominant form of Christianity.
Persian empire conquers Greece.
Julian the Apostate succeeds in returning Rome to paganism.
Antony and Cleopatra win.

Lots of interesting things could happen.
