OCC: As some of you may know, I have been planning a large RP to compliment the Karos discovery thread that ended a while back.
Well, this is that. However, I have changed around the plot a fair amount, and I must admit that a good deal of this new plot is influenced very heavily by Frank Herbert's dune. But that's besides the point.
It will begin on the Tau-23 spice mining worlds, not too far outside the Raumreich area, but firmly in the hands of an independent royal government.
It will take off from there. But I would suggest to introduce your characters as perhaps archaeologists working on the planet, which is covered in ancient and mysterious ruins, traders in the system's very valuable spices and precious metals, smugglers, or perhaps revolutionary instigators or envoys to the royal government. (I would advise against the last one, though.)
People involved so far:
Ventuus
Draconis Nightcrawlis
Sounds fun, sign me up Reppy.
Would we be playing as our own nations (in which case I can use a Goblin from the CGC if you prefer it to a corporate type), or a native(or equivilent)? (For example, would our traders/miners/archaeologists be from Tau-23 or from Ventuus/Newbish Delight/wherever?)

Hmm playing a group of smugglers could be quite fun.

Its perfectly fine to play your own nation, but I don't want this to spiral into all-out war.
But we'll cross that bridge when (if) we come to it.
But otherwise, DN and Ventuus are in.

Well my nation wouldn't really take any notice if a few smugglers from DN were killed. I avoid all out wars anyway.

OOC: Offhand, these ruins could be something from this nation if you're interested.
If you're sticking close to Dune's Melange, the vorlons may have been there around a millenium ago researching new telepathic items.
In that case I'll drop in a mining team (members of the Ventuusi Acquisitional Mining Corporation - basically owns Ventuus [helps that their CEO is also the Chancellor of Ventuus]).
I'll have it so that the teams are currently out of favour with the Company, so they won't bother to send anyone out if the mining ships get knocked down.

VP: no, that's not quite what I had in mind.
As your your smugglers, DN, well, things will play out as they go.

OOC: *Shrugs* It was more a supposition for fluff than anything. They'd not be likely to show up now. They have other things to do, nor are they the type to leave strange devices™ around.

Oops typo, meant to say wouldn't not would.

Well, I'm in, if you'll have me.
I'd either play as the same group of researchers from the Gurguvii National University/Gurguvii Naval R&D people studying the ancient ruins, in response to the theory that all life was seeded by an ancient race, etc. or a group of spice miners working out of an old crawler who happen on something mysterious/expensive beyond all imagination.
Are there sandworms?

OCC: Of course. :)
So, I'll just wait until we get some more participants and then fire this baby up.

Sooo... anyone interested?
I'm in, but I'd prefer to play one character rather a group. Maybe a local insurgent, whose mad about all the miners or something.

Sure. I'll start it up over the weekend or tomorrow.

Since I joined an RP that never took off (seeing as how it was in II), I'm just going to recycle the character I used. Single Character is fine, right?
~~DOSSIER~~
Name: Cpt. David Channing
Age: 35
Height: 182cm
Weight: 78kg
Species: Human
Hair: Black
Complexion: Pale
Physique: Below Average
IQ: 130
Mental State: Recovering from Trauma
Identifying features: Fits very much into the stereotyped "average" look - a distinguishing feature in itself.
Background: Born on a freighter, and has had a lifelong love for starships. Became captain of the construction starship Halogen, and later crash landed on Deneb Centauri after being hit by a huge volcanic boulder during liftoff. After being rescued, he was awarded the Order of Crusoe, and spent several weeks on Upsilon Andromedae I recuperating. His psychologist then recommended that he be put back to piloting starships as this was his "home environment". He then proceeded to take a position as a solo scout and later dissapeared. Later scans showed he was the victim of a freak tear in space-time and had slipped to an unknown destination.
~~END DOSSIER~~
Oh, and before you complain - due to damage from the anomaly and the subsequent crash, he is cut off from the rest of Hakurabi.

OCC: I think, since this RP is sort of, well, experimental, given the history of my past RP writing, I would have to say that most signing up is done with.
I would sort of like to leave this RP to nations that I know a little better, given the fact that it is delicate, but yeah its fine.
