And so it begins...
The blotched, grey sky appeared to part for a brief moment as the thunderous noise revealed its source. Black helicopters lowered from the heavens towards the grimy ground, the loose patches of grass flowing in ripples from the wind. They hovered for a few seconds as the doors slid open and figures leapt out, landing firmly with experienced precision onto the ground.
From where they were standing they could see the mayhem begin to subside. The helicopters abandoned them, swiftly vanishing into the thick atmosphere. Men and women dressed in illuminated work-coats skittered to and fro with equipment and materials, putting the finishing touches to the two bases. An assigned Cornixpes official approached both teams and provided them with coloured arm-bands. They then took their positions at their correct bases, adrenalin pumping and the ammo sliding into their weapons.
Across Cornixpes, and indeed many other parts of the world, TV screens flickered on and the dramatic opening music to the greatest show on Earth marked the beginning of an epic battle.

(Team FireWrath, situated at Red Base)
Wasp scanned the horizon with his binoculars, and then set them back into a side pouch. He turned to his squad, who had sectioned themselves off from the Red Team while they recieved their mission briefing. Wasp took a deep breath of the chilled afternoon air and then glanced across the organised line of his soldiers. They were the best, there was no doubt about that. They were ready.
"Ok, FireWrath. You all know me, and you all know how I work - so I'll cut the crap. This mission is simple - you put your lives on the line to defend these flags and to capture the enemy's! I don't care what it takes, in the end the man who dares and shows ruthlessness on the battlefield will be the one who prevails! So this is what I ask of you. This is what your country asks of you. You get your butts out there, and you show the world such terror and pain that they will fear the colour red for the rest of their miserable existence! We are the Vert, and we are the powerful!"
The men clasped hands individually, a sign of a bond between the elite troops. In the next 36 hours or more, they will not only be looking after their own lives, but each others'.

Captain Marius crouched low on the deck of the Marsupial helicopter as it skimmed the trees on it's way to the wargames. Beside him sat Djin Mist, expert sniper and covert operations veteran. Djin was constantly checking the area, looking out for information about the landscape that might aid them.
Marius was more concerned about whether his allies for the game were going to show up, after all, the wait for this had been long. Marius was lost in his thoughts when someone tapped him lightly on his shoulder pad. He looked up, and saw the kindly face of Wulfila, a giant of a man encased in a VEPR combat suit.
"How long?" Wulfila asked.
"Two Minutes." Marius replied.
Wulfila settled back down next to Blayda, and began to load up his weapon, checking it for flaws. There would be no start until all had reported in, but it was good to be ready.
Within five minutes the helicopters were over the area again, but heading the opposite way and with no soldiers. The men were on their own now, and were expected to win or die trying. It would probably be the former, they were members of 'The Sacred Band', after all.

Two Blackhawks, totally unmarked except for a small white eagle on the rotor head. This symbolized the Centurion Initiative's designation and "signature" of battle.
The Centurions were all prepared. Having fought in many previous exercises, some even seeing small conflicts inside previous wars, the men were all trained to the fullest extent.
"Delta One, this is Delta Two. Cargo check. Over." said the pilot on one of the helicopters. Static cut off the word Delta, as well as some letters, but it was still understood by the other pilot.
"Roger that Delta Two. Cargo is saddled up. We have confirmation of LZ. Over." the pilot responded.
"Copy that. Rappel, rappel."
At that code, all of the Centurions fastly rappeled out of the helicopters and onto the ground by the Blue Base. The soldiers all unstrapped their equipment and checked their magazines. All was a go.

The transport chopper came over the blue base. At once, it lowered altitude and aproached to the dropzone, and lowered to about four feet above the ground, and the seven men rushed out.
---
30 minutes ago:
The transport was going over the empty lands, and inside, Zane began giving orders to his men.
"OK, you all know the plan. I am going to pair you up into groups which you will be in after PlanA1 is accomplished or deemed impossible.
"Team Charlie-Beta-1 will be Zak and Bryant. Team Charlie-Echo-2 will be Bane annnnd MacNamara. Mueller will be Charlie-Bravo Unit. Myself and Castro will be team Charlie-Alpha-1.
"Your objectives are clear for A1. After that, you are to take out as many enemies as possible, but trying to control the map as much as possible. Can I get a Hoo-Hah Captain?!"
"HOO-HAH, Captain!" the team replied in unison.
"Okay, we are coming up on the base now. Radios on, freqency 10-Gamma-Echo. Load primary weapons."
---
Back at the base:
The seven men walked over to where the others were, "Looks like we're on time," said Zane, approaching the soldiers of Witzgall and Intelligent Neighbors, "So I guess we're waiting for the squad from Layerteb?"

A Single MH-33 Pave-Low helicopter raced in low towards the Red Base.
The pilot flared the huge helicopter and brought it to a hover barely half a meter off the ground as seven men jumped out. Barely had the last one cleared the ramp when the helicopter tilted its nose slightly down and sped off once again.
The seven men formed up into a group and headed towards the base proper, in which they could see several other soldiers.
Captain Jelfs took the lead, his M4 gripped in his hands but pointing at the floor, and with a hand signal he told his men to secure the perimeter. He would call them back in when the briefing would take place and another team would take over perimeter security. Or so he assumed.

The two UH-60L Black Hawks came in fast and low. It was their signature. They would each land one full klik behind the blue base and their cargo, seven men of the 6th Special Forces Unit "Marauders", 6th Squad, would deploy, fully armed and ready. They would hike to the base, drop off their supplies and lighten their loads for actual mission-work. As the helicopters descended from fifty feet to zero, the seven men readied at the doors. They would drop in within ten seconds of touching down, allowing the helicopters to get out of dodge and get out fast. A pair of AH-64D Apache Longbow's were providing support, if needed, but that wasn't likely. Their FLIR systems illuminated the night and they could see most of the battlefield, quiet and clean, for now...
Upon touching down, the two helicopters were deboarded within seconds. Their crew chiefs manned the single 7.62mm Minigun and stood ready with their M30A4s. As the seven men hit the ground, the helicopters were rising again, up to one hundred feet for egress, which would fly them near the enemy base, possible reconnaissance?
The men took off running, they would make the one klik hike inside of a few minutes, where they would go to the main briefing area with the rest of those on blue team. There, the battle plan would be drawn up.

The seven members of the FireWrath squad quickly began to form themselves into temporary defense positions as they waited for the rest of the team to arrive. Spider crouched next to the large communications box, it was buzzing in a muffled manner. The front panel was riddled with knobs and dials, and Spider (assisted by his crafty knowledge in technology of this kind) began to tune it into the squad's set frequency. Wasp, the team leader, drew out an ammo clip from the ammunition crate and attatched it to his belt. You can never have too much ammo, he thought.
The wind was picking up now, and the air began to fill with a wet haze of rain. The rest of the team better arrive soon or the conditions would be too difficult for a drop-in. As the clouds twisted overhead, the squad relentlessly stared down their weapons, even this early in the game they were ready for anything. Or so they thought.

OOC: I'm going away for the weekend.
The squad had been dropped off two miles away from the Red base. After an hour of walking they had finally spotted their destination. They began to jog towards the building, other soldiers, their allies, were visible in the distance. The group reached the base and approached the other men, Captain Kornilov extended his hand to who he presumed was the leader of the CornixPes squad.
"Hello, I'm Kornilov. This is the Zarbian Jagergruppe reporting."
