Before The Storm...

Euroslavia
12-01-2005, 20:47
The government of Euroslavia, for the past few years, evolved into a Communist state. After a bloody revolution, the current leader, Comrade Maloney, took power from the former Empress, leaving her to go into exile in Vastiva. To this date, no one knows exactly where she is, due to the exit of Euroslavia from NATO, and the worsening of relations between itself and a few nations that belong to NATO. However, in recent months, the Communist government has begun its collapse. Small protests have broken into large riots in the capital of Pyrynn and the former capital of the Imperialist government, in Arcadia, shouting, “Death to Communism!” and “Death to the Comrade!”.

The economy of Euroslavia has always been known as one of the stronger markets within the world, however, in recent events, the HTQ 200 has dropped over 1,000 points within the past 3 months, leading to a recession within the now struggling nation. The jobless rate has fallen to 9.68%, pushing even more people out to the streets to fend for themselves. It is feared that all hope will be lost, and Euroslavia will blunge into its first Depression in more than 200 years.

The structure of the government is quite unique in a sense that not too many nations out there have a Tri-Cameral Legislature. The Congress consists of the House of Orders, the the Representative Chamber, and the 3rd, less known Liberai House. Each house’s tasks have been divided equally, however, the real power lies within the leadership position of the Comrade. If there is anything that he dislikes, he can simply veto is with no possibility of a repeal, or a revote.

The current government of Euroslavia has maintained its structure in the past months, however, due to the recent protests and violent riots, a few of the members of the Euroslavian Congress have resigned, leaving the Comrade with no choice but to dissolve the Congress itself. It seems that a war between the loyalists of Communism, and the liberators of Democracy itself is inevitable, with the path that the nation is going towards. This will be the Second Civil War within the past 25 years that has broken out between Communists and other forces.

A call to the world was recently shown across the world on the international news network, by the Underground Democratic Movement, led by an anonymous, but courageous, or possibly insane man, asking the world to move in, and decapitate the leadership of the Communist Party, and place Democratic rule, a rule of the people, back into power, where it has ruled majority of the time since Euroslavia itself was declared an independent nation.

Nations of the World,
You now know the corruption that our ‘Comrade’ has put into effect within Euroslavia. He has dissolved Congress in this past week, because of resignations, and does not wish to listen to the protests of our people. Violence has broken out in most of the major cities, including the capital of Pyrynn, and a war between my people and the Communists is inevitable. I ask of you all to see our cause within Euroslavia. We have not blatantly attacked Communist strongpoints within the city, and have obediently sat back ever since the Comrade came to power, however, he has only made things much harder for us politically. Slowly, he knocked out every party that would dare content him, and thus, the remaining party was the Communist Party itself. Any leader openly voicing any attacks upon Communism was silenced, without the knowledge of the public. That is why I send this announcement, shrowded in darkness, and voice-altered, in hopes that the world will heed my call, and liberate the people of Euroslavia. Ultimately, our fate, the fate of over three billion people is up to the rest of you. I await your decisions.

With this announcement airing all over the news networks, not only in Euroslavia, but throughout the rest of the world, many news anchors have disappeared, as well as those suspected of being the leader. Extensive background checks have occurred, seeing those who have only slightly been involved with any opposition of the Communists. Thousands upon thousands of people have disappeared from their homes, their work, and any other place you can think of. It is expected that the government is carrying out a varied form of genocide, eliminating its enemy before it can come up with any sort of legitimate resistance to the current government…the current approximate count by the Underground Movement has estimated that up to 1 million people have disappeared in the past 3 years.

Diplomatic relations with the entire world was becoming more strained. With the current tensions within its own country, the worlds' leaders began to look at Euroslavia, with their greedy eyes, hoping that there was a possibility of taking some territory from it while they have the chance. It was also a time for any strong nation out there to thrust its' influence upon the nation under fire, and mold it into anything they desired. At this point, it was difficult to see who Euroslavia's Communist regime could trust...

The Underground Democratic Movement was beginning to make progress in convincing citizens who originally supported the Communist regime. Leaflets were continuously distributed across the nation, despite the Communist government working its hardest to make these leaflets, and the people who distributed them disappear. It looked like the Democratic movement was beginning to be noticed on the world-wide stage. However, there were other movements that were becoming involved. A Fundamentalist group known as the United Christian Movement was making progress in creating a religious government of strictly Christians, to enforce morals and religion upon the rest of the nation. Due to the liberal views in Euroslavia, however, this group only received a limited amount of support, but still, a small amount of influence was there.

There was a 3rd group involved in the political movements within Euroslavia. This group supported the leadership of one man, to take care of everything that the nation could possibly need; a dictatorship of sorts. This group was the last to come forth, but support was growing through the wealthy and the poor citizens. Unlike the other groups, this Dictatorship movement didn't encompass one specific belief. There was also hope that, if this group were to take power, the people who supported it would be rewarded for their help. It wasn't the best reason to support a regime, but there really wasn't anything that anyone could do about it...

Foreign Office, Midlonia
Jason Willoughby raised an eyebrow at the report that had managed to filter to his desk.
What on Earth?
'Boy, come here.' he commanded, his voice rough, and odd.
'What is it sir?'
'This report, where did you get it?'
'News report sir, from Eu-'
'Euroslavia, I see it here at the top, but why would such a nation broadcast this?' he frowned at studied the document again.
'Possibility of insurgents? Discontent? I don't know, but I thought we should keep tabs on it.'
'Hrm, good idea lad, we should see if any of this is true or not, when the time comes dispatch a diplomatic team...and er...' He lowered his voice. 'When the time comes, you know who should go too.'

Outside was the crack of thunder, the room flashed brightly. Jason jumped slightly and yelped, dropping the sheet to the floor.
'Goodness gracious, pick that up for me will you my dear boy?' He pointed to the sheet that now lay on the floor.

Underground Movement Secret Meeting
Location: Unknown

This meeting has been called forth due to the widespread success of the Underground Democratic Movement, and the assessment of the other groups rising up and challenging us. Here, it will be determined on exactly how we should 'react' to these other groups, and what we should do to deter them, and their desperate attempt to claim control to the country. The meeting's goals have, thus, been set, and shall begin now.

A tall man with an overcoat, and a large hat, covering most of his face, stood up and began to talk..

"There needs to be a way to take these other parties out of the 'running' for leadership positions in Euroslavia. Are there any suggestions on to exactly what to do?"

Another man stood up. He was short, had dark eyes and gave a most serious glance at the rest of the leaders attending the meeting.

"I suggest that we use all means necessary to deter the other groups. And by saying "all means necessary", I mean it. Assassinations, poisoning, forcing the citizens of the nation to support us, and if they don't, then well...let's not think about that. They will support us whether they like it or not. We need insurance that the Democratic movement will take power. That is why I brought...such an insurance to the meeting today. I would like everyone to meet the current Minister of Intelligence of the Communist regime, Allan Tonnacour. Yes, he has defected, however, the current regime has no clue about it because it is in disarray, and has no control over exactly what each member of the government does. This is exactly why the regime needs to fall. We need to stand up, and make it known that were are a 'Democratic Regime' in support of freedom, liberty, and civil rights, however, in reality, we won't be as 'free' as everyone thinks we are."

The short man stood up and began to laugh... while the rest of the leaders at the meeting began to follow. Soon, the entire room was engulfed in laughter, as if some sort of laughing gas was released through the vents. Horrible things were about to happen in Euroslavia...things that the entire world couldn't fathom. The worst was yet to come...

Breaking News from the Capital of Euroslavia

"After months of growing distress between underground movements and the Communist regime, the event today, that has occured, has 'broken' the fragile peace between the government and its own people. Today, 4 Senators within the Liberai House representing the Communist party, were kidnapped by the Underground Democratic Movement, however, despite overwhelming evidence against them, they have thrown the blame upon the up-and-coming CSD (Citizens Supporting Dictatorship). They have accused the fledgling party of supporting terror as well, and the torture of many citizens in order to gain support, or face death.

The CSD responded by saying that the Underground Democratic Movement within Euroslavia is 'more corrupt than the current government itself' backlashing at their attempts to muddle the people of Euroslavia and telling the world that the UDM, in reality, isn't a Democratic Movement, but rather a brutal group, bent on taking control of Euroslavia, and getting rid of all those who oppose them, rather than equally representing the whole of the nation.

So far, the Fundamentalist group, the United Christian Movement is using the squabble between the UDM and the CSD as a weapon for their own promotion as the most supported rebel group, not looking for confrontation, but looking for peace within Euroslavia. Not much is known about the group, and whether it has gotten involved in the dirty politics that are taking place."

Secret Communique from the Communist Regime to World Leaders
As you know, our struggle to maintain order within Euroslavia has become very costly, due to the efforts of the 'UDM' and the 'CSD', as well as a few other minor groups out there. We are looking to hold an emergency meeting with the nations of the world that have an interest in our country, to discuss ways of making the nation stable once again. The meeting will strictly be held to discuss diplomatic means at ending the non-violent rebellion occuring. We will also discuss the validation of the disappearance of the suggested 3 million people within our country.

Secret Communique from the UDM to World Leaders
The current regime of Euroslavia is falling apart, and there is nothing that anyone can do to save it. The support of the people has disappeared, and they're looking for another regime to take power, and to stabilize the nation. The UDM is the regime to do such a thing. Currently, we are working our best to distribute leaflets to all of Euroslavia, as well as making stops in specific towns in disarray, to support our cause. Democracy will succeed in Euroslavia once again, and we will do everything we can to get back in power. We are currently looking for those out there who support democracy throughout not only Euroslavia, but throughtout the rest of the world.

Secret Communique from the CSD to World Leaders
The idea of an entire government full of hundreds, even thousands of people, representing the billions of people who live in Euroslavia is not only un-realistic, it has proven inefficient within Euroslavia before. Under the leadership of the former Empress, before the Communist Revolution, the country of Euroslavia was in its Golden Age. Having one person in the leadership position, someone that we can trust, is our best bet. The UDM is nothing but a brutal oligarchy looking to seize power, and to eliminate all who oppose them. The similarities between them and the Communist regime are shocking and appalling. We will be holding a secret summit for World Leaders who support our cause.

OOC: This RP is open for everyone, as long as you are an active RP'er. This first part of the civil war in Euroslavia will strictly be diplomatic. Each group will be looking for supporters from the rest of the world. There will be three parts to the civil war. The first is the diplomatic fallout of the Communist regime, the second will be the actual war, and the 3rd part will be the re-establishment of a new regime, and the re-opening of diplomatic relations with the world. T-gram me if you want to know how I want this to end.

Fundamentalist: United Christian Movement

The United Christian Movement was far behind, considering that majority of the nation was liberal. Therefore, the Movement had much to do, to be considered a serious possibility at taking control of the government. It had many plans to launch, in order to take the chance at leading the nation. It's means of influencing the public was different than the rest of the Movements. Priests and Fathers all across the entire nation were threatened, and told to begin the push to Conservatism, or else, the entire nation would be damned to hell. It was a cheap scare tactic, but it was probably the most effective way at pushing liberals towards becoming conservative...although, the one side that they didn't think about was the fact that a lot of the citizens of Euroslavia would rather leave Christianity, than to change their beliefs.

St. Peter Arcadia, in Euroslavia, was one of the most influential churches in Euroslavia. It has survived multiple bombings, terrorist attacks, and riots throughout its existance, and even survived under the regime of the Ottoman Empire for 40 years.

Three men walked into the church while the priest was currently within his office, writing his sermon for the next day. They walked into the room, looked at each other and walked towards him.

"Listen, Father. You're going to listen to us, or else, well... we won't get into that."

"God Bless you three men. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Immediately, one of the men stepped forward and punched the Father in the stomach, picked him up, and threw him against the wall.

"You're going to begin preaching what we want us to preach. Abortion should be outlawed, homosexuals should not be able to get married, and most of all, the United Christian Movement is what you need to support for the government. If we find out that you betray us, you'll pay with your life."

The three men left, after giving the Father papers on the next sermon he was going to preach. The Father bent down, wept, and prayed that the nation would not give the United Christian Movement the opportunity at taking power. Fake Christians were the worst of all...
