Out of boredem and a little of wanting to take all the World Cup and other football related threads, I've thought of something different. Football Manager 2005, Nationstates style. Basically everything in the database would be changed to NS nations. So far it's only a project and might never be finished due to it being a huge effort on my part to do, but hey I like a good challange :D

Double edit: For someone who wants to know what the numbers represent, they represent, in respective order, number of playable tiers (IE, England's Conference North/Conference South is considered one tier) and number of playable leagues (IE, ConferenceNorth and South are considered seperate leagues).

Having it on the right was done as a change, in fact I prefer it on the right for some reason.

The skin is called 'Stone' If you look on the SI board at www.sigames.com you'll find it plus a fair few other skins.

Claiming: Well, I wanted to be Canada, but alas! they don't seem to be an option. Then I thought it might be fun to be Denmark, as they're roughly in the same rank as Iansisle in the NSWC - but I got to thinking: does Denmark, however much I enjoy writing 'ø', really reflect Iansislean national character? My travel brochures insist that it is a peaceful country with a good telephone system and absolutely no violent separatist movements. I would hardly want to people to think of Iansisle as a peaceful Scandanavian country: no, no, that wouldn't do at all!

Druida would best replace Wales, as anyone knowing the team from the NS World Cup would realise why. The abbreviation to NCD exists because Druidans are lazy, and still haven't bothered changing it from NEWI Cefn Druids.

The only way to make it work properly would be to edit the .exe file, either professionally (no tricks necessary) or patch-like, replacing for example, all instances of "Greece" in the .exe with "Vilita" ; as both contain the same amount of letters. Nations like Draconis Nightcrawlis would obviously need to be abbreviated. However, since this is illegal it can not be done and I would strongly advise against doing it.

Looks like this'll be pretty much stillborn then.

What I do is Change the national colors, and everything, the TLA, the Nationality Type, you can change everything other than the main nation name and the only time you notice is when the world cup comes around. Most of your time is spent in club, where you will see VIL, DCN, LEN, STR and "Vilitan, Draconian, Starblaydian" in player infos.

Hmmmm, good question. I think the short one is the one that can't be changed actually. But probably both are linked together if i remember the ex.... database correctly. Best way to find out, take a nation, edit the long name only. If it doesnt work, edit the short name only. :) Trial & Error is the best solution, never let anyone tell you what can't be done.

Thats what I was thinking of doing. Just replaced the whole db with the FM Sorted update so at least I have a clean sheet to start with. Would be nice to have an NS version of FM :)

Well it only disappeared when I changed that bit, so now I'm trying out changing the 'Name'.

EDIT: Evidently its editing the TLA that stops the league being in the selection list and not 'Name' or 'Short Name'
