The Rise of Ra and His Prophet
In the streets of a mountainous township, five hundred miles south of Aerion’s capital city of Astevane on the Great Plains, a man stood wearing an white robe. What would distinguish him, however, from the Sufi clergy one might sometimes see rarely wandering Aerion was the large golden sun emblazoned on. The man stood at the town center, holding his arms wide, “People of Damern, this is the message I bring you, Ra is the God of this world! Ra is the father of the Buddha, Christ, and Mohammed. Ra, the great Solar One, is Abesharath of the Old Aerion Tribal beliefs!.” What was more surprising than his message, which may not be surprising to some, was that in an nation which has no ties with Ancient Egypt, this man was developing a following. In a nation in which 40% of the people are Agnostic (most of the ruling classes of the corporate elite, and government which are often becoming increasingly the same these days), and 20% are Buddhist this man was able to make an impact. In the town square, cars had been stopped, and hundreds of people had gathered. They seemed enthralled in this man, who gestured widely, and spoke as if of great importance. The Chief Constable (Chief of Police) however, did not seem so enthralled, as the plump middle aged man made his way down the street from near the square accompanied by several Police Constables. As the Chief Constable entered the square, the constables attempted to clear the crowds. Though they seemed to ignore the police for the moment.
The man, raising his arms and speaking to the crowds, was an young man with short black hair and deep green eyes. He almost had dark features, but dark alluring features, and these seemed to help his cause. As the Chief Constable approached, the local garrison commander of His Majesty’s Royal Army wearing the typical day to day ware of dark green with an burgundy beret. He was accompanied by a squad of 8 other soldiers, who followed closely with their guns ready as he marched at the head of them toward the man at the center of the square.
Something quiet strange though happened as he got there, the man who had been swaying the crowd only a few moments ago came down from his perch willingly and began speaking to the garrison commander. No one could quiet see, as the squad of soldiers was blocking their view, but the prophet extended his hand to the garrison commander, and one handshake was exchanged…. Then a whisper into the ear,. The crowd talked in hushed tones as everyone watched as the garrison commander, and the squad simply left the man alone. What shocked them even more was that the prophet speaking to them simply walked out of the crowd, away from them, and down the street into the backseat of an unmarked very old style black sedan, and rode away. Some tried to chase after him, but the sedan disappeared around the corner before they could catch up to him.
The garrison commander stepped toward the Chief Constable, and whispered something to him. The Chief Constable looked puzzled, frowned, nodded, and motioned for his men to walk away.
