Will Jansen, the leader of the Republic of Morgenroete looked out at the skyline of the capitol city of Onogoro. Morgenroete was a small Pacific Nation that specialized in cutting edge technology. The funding for the vast research came from the sizable natural deposits of Uranium. Onogoro was a bustling metropolis with a tall glass skyline, and a thriving business district.
Outside of the city was the Onogoro Military Base, this base housed a high-tech weapon development facility, as well as a mass driver for launching ships into space that was still under construction. Morgenroete had a small but mobile army that specialized in Mobile Suits, humanoid weapon systems running on nuclear generators, and Mobile Armors, non-humanoid mobile weapons. Although Morgenroete had a more traditional army as well most of its power was concentrated on Mobile Weapons.
As President Jansen thought about all of the problems that faced Morgenroete it saddened him. An epidemic of crime was spreading throughout the country. The lack of funding the police had been receiving as of late was due to a temporary budget crisis. Scientists had just discovered an alternate armor system that in the long run would revolutionize how the MMF (Morgenroete Mobile Forces) would operate. Phase Shift armor was unaffected by conventional weapons, but still vulnerable to energy weapons. The problem was it consumed power at an incredible rate and it was rather expensive to create and maintain.
Other problems had been pressing in on President Jansen’s mind. He had been experiencing attacks from both the Left and the far Right. Some Super Leftist representative tried to sneak in a mandatory voting proposal in the new research funding bill. Luckily, several representatives who supported Will noticed this addition and informed him. Will found it hard to image the political backlash he would have suffered had that passed. Next, some super strict religious fundamentalist tried to have a children book series cancelled because he disagreed with some content. He created a media circus surrounding the governments decision. Until it was “leaked” that the government would deny his request and let market forces decide whether the book would be on store shelves or not.
Will’s Secretary’s call over the intercom interrupted Will’s musings. “Mr. President, your 6 o’clock is here.”
“Alright, Send him in.” Will responded. Seconds later the scientist walked in the door…
