With the completion of Labule Station One, Mirfak's first military starship-building facility, just a week ago, the Labule says it is now prepared to build a prototype of the Gel class assault ship, the first in a new line of warships that will make up the Mirfakan defense fleet. The Labule will build and test the Gel over the next three years, then begin construction of service versions, the first of which is expected to launch one year later.

Update: The prototype Gel has been fully tested in all aspects of its operation and, following a minor correction of energy shield modulation and a refit with optimized exaust ports, performed "well above satisfactorily" to justify commencement of construction. The prototype will be kept in stardock at YLK until the launch of the first combat Gel early next year, after which it will be retired to the Mirfakan Museum of Military History. The Mirfakan government is currently planning a grand launch ceremony to greet the arrival of the nation's first modern starship in over a century.
